ok. so i still have a picture i'm finishing for an art trade (so sorry it's taken so long!! but i'm almost done!!)
but i thought i'd see if anyone else was intersted in this.
i have one going in the mh arena too.
so what it is, is 12 artists (maybe 13) ban together. each taking a month and drawing a picture 11 x 8 1/2 with the pony theme. prefer to use the actual characters this time rather than ocs.
all pictures have to be your original work. please no copying or tracing any stock art.
any drawing level is fine.
I'll print them at my work. printing will probably be about 5$ each. and about 3 to 5$ shipping each.
then you get the printed calender in the mail.
(about a 10$ cost commitment if you want a printed calendar- otherwise a digital one would be free)
I'll be printing them at my work which is a professional book making company. so the quality will be good. and the cost literally just cover materials and shipping.
i feel bad putting a cost on it, but since i can't afford to make and ship one for everyone its' only fair for everyone to pay for their own. of course if you want to submit a picture for the calendar and just get a digital copy of the calendar there would be no cost.
what do you think? who want to try this?
it's first come first serve on months and characters. since we don't want to have a whole calender just of mintys (though i know some of you may not agree), lets keep it to 2 appearance by each character, for the really popular characters. any generation is fine.

this is not commission based. all artist are volunteers only.
if i can get more than 5 people i'll fill in the gaps myself if i have to. :)
the only time any money is changing hands is if you want me to print a copy of the calendar and send it to you.
oh and if you want one and aren't drawing for the calendar, well if it's ok with the artist you can get one too.
there will be no profits made from any of this, but it depends. so artist as you sign up. please say if you are willing to have non-participates get one of the calendars or not. then it will be decided at the end.

Picture requirements are:
-original art
-11x8 1/2 landscape picture.
-theme must match month chosen
-images scanned or sent at 400 dpi (or they will look horrible printed.)
if you can't scan in the image yourself, you are welcome to send it to me, and i'll return your original art with the calendar.

October would be my first choice, Is there any Autumn/Halloween themed My little Ponies from any generation? I do remember Gusty (G1) would be Autumn themed. Are there others?

i'm pretty sure there are quite a few, but in g3 there is autumn sky.

if you're planning on doing any of the fim characters let me know which so we don't have a whole calender with one character, want to try and get some variety. ;)
as far as deadlines. lets shoot for the first or second week of dec.
gives over a month to work on stuff.
the printing won't take long at all, and most shipping should be with in a week. so everyone should have their calendars before the new year!
so excited. i'll keep this open till it fills in.

UPDATE:
I don't have a problem with people who are not drawing pictures for it to be able to purchase one, it can cover your labor fee!
Also as a heads up, so we don't have too many repeats of characters the 4 I will be drawing for march will be
g1 - Minty
g2 - Clever Clover
g3 - Serendipity
g4 - Lucky Clover
Then we have a clover/shamrock pony for each generation :3

Oh! I'm som happy you are doing this :lol:, we have had a calendar on the swedish forum for a couple of years, but last year there were so few artists interested so for next year there is non. I'll gladly take february, but I have to know when it has to be ready - I have bad health plus a little baby boy to look after. So when is the deadline?

you don't have to buy a calendar if you don't want. i can send you a digital file and you can either print it yourself or use it on your computer.
and if you need to fold it, that's ok. if you're ok with it, i can touch up any creases in photoshop. or i can scan it in for you and let you touch it up.

I also edited my comment about this is my first page but it can be repeated, I think its a great idea to allow other members to get calendars, RJ it can cover your work expense

Yeah we should totally open it up to other members! I am planning on selling digital copies of my piece in my new Etsy shop, assuming that doesn't violate anypony's sensibilities?

since its the cover i think a 4 gens would be best... but
hmmm surprise, g4 pinkie, maybe g3 rainbow dash? and still no clue as of who to do in g2.
open to suggestions.
i kinda disappears on the pony scene for several years, so i'm clueless when it comes to g2 and g3.
i was thinking iconic characters, but 1. they are sometime overdone, 2. takes if from others who may want to draw them.
but i do claim g4 pinkie. love drawing that girl. (and g1 surprise.)

I always think of Ivy as the g2 mascot, but that's maybe because I've drawn her and seen her everywhere, the white one (lightheart maybe?) seems pretty g2 trademark-ish

that would be awesome knowing that members have a piece of my work up on their wall for a month. i am fine with that too.
i am still not too sure who i will be doing. since i have september, i was thinking about using kid ponies as a back to school theme. not sure if i want to draw g1s as g4s or just g4s as g4s, unless i want to do g1s as g1s. too many decisions.

I'm fine with the calendar being available to everyone.
The pony I'm definitely drawing is Sprinkles. I haven't decided if I will squeeze in other ponies or not, though I do want to.
rosierjay- Princess Silver Swirl is the first pony I think of in terms of G2. I'm also not too familiar with them. I wonder if there are any balloon/party themed ponies, than Pinkie can host her parade with all her predecessors.
babyblueducky- When in doubt, choose some ponies from both gens? :P

This weekend will be the weekend of pony-ing! I will be working non stop on pony art, pony atcs, pony customs, pony pictures, it's going to be a pony filled couple of days.
unless I get lazy and meet a tall dark bag of oreos and a long walk to the couch with a netflix marathon *smacks self* NO! must be a productive weekend!

I like to watch Golden Girls while I paint. Sadly, oreos are not in my house at the moment. And not good to eat while painting anyhow... all those chocolate crumbs on the watercolor paper. Not good!

Aww man, I've been so swamped at work with crazy deadlines I haven't had time to do more than one rough composition sketch. :cry: I need more hours in the day or be able to live on no sleep. I do have a month to get it done, though, so there is that. :)

I've made more progress on the Sugarberries. Hair is done, symbols almost done (just need Baby's vines). Then a simple background so they are no floating in the Great Void, and voila!

I thought I would have more time and energi for this, but with a real bad health and a little baby my pic will be much more simple than I would want it to be. No shadows or hightlights. Hope it will be okey anyway. Plan to have it scanned in on my hubbies work on friday.

I'm so determined to get my picture done by today's deadline....and just spent the last half-hour doodling something completely irrelevant. :blush: I need a better attention span.
Is anyone else not done or should I feel completely guilty?

i'm not finished with mine either. we are waiting on a few others that said they would be done by friday.
don't worry. i built buffer time into the deadline ( i work in print so i know how these things go)
so don't worry.
i'm hoping to have everything collect, created and printed by the 15th so i can mail them out before it gets too close to Christmas. that way anyone ordering a printed one internationally will still get it in time.
oh! speaking of internationally. so far there are only american holidays on there. are there any other holidays people want to make sure are included on the calendar?

I'm almost done! Most everything is layed out and has the rough colouring, I just need to sit down and clean things up a bit. I should defintely have it handed in to you before the 15th (I'm aiming for today or tomorrow). ^.^
My picture doesn't revolve around a holiday (I was going to say July doesn't have a holiday but my Canadian self completely forgot about July 4th...I'll ignore the fact I forgot about Canada Day too), but it is summer oriented. Sorry to our lovely members who's winter is during our summer.

We talked a bit about the holidays with my flat mate and didn't come up with any holidays we would like to have in the calendar.

i updated the status of the pictures. please check to see if yours is correct.
if you don't have anything marked for you date, i might have missed an email etc. so let me know.
i got pictures a few different ways, and some might and fell through the cracks.
i'm piecing everything together now, and am checking the size of the pictures. if the picture is too small i'll pm you to see if you can get me a larger picture.
at least 300dpi for those who use photoshop.
i'll resize if i can, but don't want them to become pixelated.
OH!!! and is everyone ok with your user name as your artist name? if i don't hear from you i'll be using that.

Submitted...aside from the colour issue which I'm trying to solve; I'm so technologically impaired it's embarrassing. Also waiting to find something obvious I overlooked, I almost left out Sprinkles' symbol/cutie mark.
I'd like my arena name with Al K. in parenthesis, if that's alright.

awesome. i'm doing the legal stuff on the back. yah know. saying hasbro owns the ponies. by fans for fans etc. thought it would be nice to have a shout out to each artist on there too, since a few other arena members said they wanted one.

Actually, I DO still need a 2015 calendar. Usually I've received three free ones in the mail from the different nature organizations I'm part of, this year the calendar well apparently has run dry. Although sometimes we pay money and buy a Kare11 calendar jam-packed with meteorological and astronomical data.

Calendar Process update!!!
so everything is in place, i just need to add artist names and arrange pages for printing.
should be able to print on friday.
for those of you just getting the digital copy, i will leave the pages in order of month etc.
pretty excited with how it's looking.
for those buying a physical copy
i'll get totals etc to people on Friday/sat and have them in the mail by monday.

I thought I replied here already, whoops. The calendar is amazing, everyone's art is great! I looked through it so many times over.

All the calendars have been mailed.
if you haven't paid for them yet, please do so once they arrive or when you can.
my inbox is such a jumble right now, i think there are two who still need to pay, but i mailed them anyway and just decided to count on the honesty of people etc.
if you've received your calendar please post in the forum, so i know that they are arriving safe and can check them off the list.
once they all i arrive i'll be posting my pic and if people want i can post the pdfs of the calendar online somewhere.
there are 3 versions. the simple one up, which is what was sent out, the ready to print as an 11 x 17 version, and the 11 x 17 version that pretty much looks like a digital pin up.
if people want other versions let me know. thanks.
and thank you everyone for participating in this project it was a lot of fun!! i'd like to do it again next year. maybe starting a little sooner though. great job!

who's still waiting for calendars and who still needs to send a payment?
i know tech they weren't "purchased" but i still feel confindent giving feedback for everyone that got a physical copy.
on a side note. i really did enjoy this, but i think if i do this for next year
1. i'll start earlier
2. add a cost to the calendar for fees. i lost a little over 10$ in paypal fees and misunderstandings. and well it digs in over the long run.
