Definitely not!
She should be about 65-120 depending on condition.

Tux an' Tails? Mountain boys?
I don't think anyone should pay 100 or over for a pony. Kinda silly in my mind. But if they're really that htf then I guess it's justified.

Except MIPs could be.

gold plated blossom.
(confused is this a what i would pay 100$ for or what's actually going for 100$)

i'd never pay more than 20 for any us pony. no matter who they are.
nirvanas and uk ponies is a different matter. not many i'd pay 100$ for, but several i'd pay up to 40$ for. well if i have money at the time. :P

I would only pay over $100 for a pony if it's MIB... I guess I could see paying that much for certain MO's and most Argies...

I think Hollywood, the flutter pony, would be up there, with her wings.

you should ask this question in the nirvana forum ;) There are to many to list but here is a start
Piggy ponies (spain)
spain boys (trucker etc)
brazil milky, twist, cp gusty (actually most are over or close to a hundred with the expection of the cp ponies and the shy pose ponies with no symbols or outfits)
Italy cp sparkler, magenta haired bowtie, magneta blossom plus many more
Any Colombian adult in good condition
Any south african pony (they are $1000 upward)
The better question on that forum is what ponies are under $100

There are a lot of ponies and the other thing is that everyone is willing to pay something different for the same pony.

I think the second set of Pony Friends is close up there, as well as the mountain boys. They're some of the few rarer ponies I really want and would be willing to pay for.

As for G4, prototype ponies can go well over a hundred (Minty A, Sweetie Blue, transparent/pearly/glittery versions of the mane six, :muffin: Hooves with two tone hair or variant symbols). Fashion styles like Applejack, :muffin: Hooves and white Celestia were quite pricey but have taken a drop due to newer releases.

my purchase was a transformer, I've been watching eBay for years and finally saved enough moonlighting consulting funds!
just wondered what a pony would be for that amount.

Apparently Mimic is worth $1,000 according to an ebay listing :/

I'm desperate for my grails...I admit
I called up my boyfriend as asked him "Hey do you think I should spend near $1k for Mimic?" and he was absolutely against it ._. he even called me dumb  >_<

I have my limits, up to $500 I would pay for any one of my grails (Rosey Posey, Mimic, Tux N' Tails, Night Glider )but if i'm really desperate (and have the money) then i'll pay over that :P

Lots of ponies are worth $100+! Especially nirvanas!
Here's a couple I can think off the top of my head:
Greek lady bird
Spanish Milky Way
Spanish sweet tooth
Mint Brazilian ponies with fabulous hair!
Piggy ponies
Peru unicorns
Argie unicorn sparkle sprinkles
Many htf Greeks and babies
Some Colombians
Mint well listed mountain boys
South african ponies.

I just paid $110 for a mip baby up up and away! ive seen lots of ponies hit pass the 100$ mark. It depends on whose looking and how badly the want it!

I paid $120 for my Mimic, but for me in GBP is only £75. My Ice Crystal was £65. They were my most expensive ponies so far.
Next would be Munchy who was €50, which worked out at around £40. All ponies in extremely good to mint condition.

I've seen mint Hollywood go for around $300 odd. I wouldn't personally pay that for her however.

The ponies I've paid around $100 for are Mimic, Rosey Posey, Frisco, Trolley, Licensing Show Rarity and a G3 Comic Con Prototype.  My Rapunzel I got for around $300.  Did I pay too much?  Maybe, I don't know.  Are they actually worth it?  I guess they are to me.  The way I look at it is that if I have the money at the time and I find a HTF pony in a price range I can afford, I ought to jump on it then instead of waiting to see if prices jump up in a few years.  I can already tell you that even more common G1s are going for about twice as much as they were when I first started collecting.  I'm trying to concentrate now on finishing my G3s while they're still in their lull stage and picking off my older gens as I can find reasonable deals on them.  However, I'm also a "gotta catch them all" kind of pony collector.

thanks for the stories everyone!

I just wondered because the most I paid for a pony so far is $40 or a fair condition MB Sunburst.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy a special display/storage box as soon as my transformer arrives,  I feel like I gotta treat this part of my collection different , ya know?  as opposed to just tossing it in the bin with the rest of my robots! ;P... the same for a pony if I spent that much.  I think.

this is all new for me!

Excluding Nirvanas, there are not as many G1s up at that price range as you would think. A lot of the later mail orders are the main culprits plus Ice Crystal. Even ponies like Mimic and Red Roses and the other MBs can be found for under that price point most of the time.

However if you love a pony or a transformer then its totally worth whatever you pay for it!

I think, if you hunt ebay long enough?  Her price can fluctuate.  I've seen her go as low as $75.  If you get her in a lot, she can also average out to less.

I paid $90-ish for Ice Crystal.  MO Mommy and Baby are easily worth $100+ each.

There are so many ponies that will go at $100 and more, the difference is what I'll be able to afford or want badly enough to bite my tooth and pay.  ;)

This.  My Mimic came out of a large lot I dropped $150 on.  By the time I sold the excess off, my Mimic cost me about $50 and she's super nice.  She has some light color transfer on her NDS, and the pink in her hair is almost all gone, but other than that, she's perfect.  That was well over five years ago, but you can get lucky sometimes if you go for a lot or an auction with bad pictures.  I got my Crumpet in an auction with a Truly, and after I sold Truly off, Crumpet worked out to $40, and by joe, is she the mintiest Crumpet that I've ever seen online or off.

My Mimic was only $75, that was a case of right place right time. Ponies do fluctuate a lot in value over surprisingly short periods of time, so the going rate in September can change drastically depending on time of year - Xmas, holidays, tax returns, all make a difference.
At the end of the day, a pony is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. :)

On at least 1/2 of her recently ended ebay auctions. She does hover up around the high mark and she is pricer right now than she has been for months but patience and the right time she will be $100 or more often lower.

Truth.  I managed to get 2 of them very cheaply in the last year alone.

I don't think anyone should ever be forced to pay $100+ for what was originally a $5 toy but that's just me.
Title: Re: $100 Ponies

I agree its a good idea to look for harder to find ponies in large lots.  If you're not too picky or you're willing to give them pony spa days on a per pony basis it could be a lot cheaper.  Also you can sell the other items to offset the cost or maybe even make money.

Personally I also think its a good idea to avoid getting into bidding wars if you don't want to pay too much. Its too easy to get competitive and overpay.  Unless you have more self control than I do

Be patient and wait for her to pop at a decent price.

Good luck with your search :)

No one is ever forced to :) Its a personal decision to decide whether to pay what you want - a personal can sell a Mimic at $5 if they wish, as much as someone can choose to pay market value of $90 for her.

right we are definilty not talking about being forced.  no one is forced to own a car or put gas in it.  no one is forced to spend money on a college education.  people choose because the expenditure is of value to them.

in my case I carefully studied and saved here and there before choosing to spend.

You're not being forced to do anything. Ponies are something  to be enjoyed, not a requirement for life. If you can go out and find one of the pricy ponies for less than $5, jump on it! Me, I only shop at thrift stores now a days, so I get whatever I can find. I won't personally pay market value for things because part of the fun is finding it cheap! I also don't expect a seller to lower the price for me because I want something they have and don't want to pay that much. Lots of people sell toys to supplement their income..so they can make a better life for themselves and their families.

(Ooh.. sorry.. that turned into a mini rant.)

One of my grails, Nightlight, is worth over $100. I have had opportunities to buy her but I just can't justify spending that much.

Diamond Dreams is also a grail of mine and I'm even hesitant to spend more then $40 on her. :/    I'm poor and don't have a high paying job.

I think my followed Mimic search just showed me the previous relistings/what's already there  XD

Mimic in a lot with other ponies-$400 nope... (atleast NATM)
Mimic herself-$1k definitely not >.<
Mimic- $88.00 with a number of bids...nooooope sorry, you lost me at "bid"

Thats where you are going wrong then. BINs are traditionally higher than auctions as sellers can set whatever price they want - the worth of a pony is what someone is willing to pay. If you are looking for a pony's worth you have to consider ended auction prices as well as sales prices here on the boards...not just the prices set by ebay sellers on BINs.

Just thought I would add that the 2nd edition of adult sea ponies tend to reach $100+ with their shells. I've seen just the sea ponies too reach $100+ especially mint white sea most and white cap!

Nightlight. I paid $120 for her five years ago. Absolutely worth it!

I'm thankful I got her when I did because there is no way I can justify that expenditure now.

Also market research does help. I was able to get one if my Greek pony grails very affordably last month due to the market dropping. How much I want a particular pony versus its current price also plays a huge role.

Well many many Nirvanas go for waaay over $100.

Also the rarer mail order ponies (like Sweet Scoops, Scribbles, Dabble, Mother Love, Sugarcake, Lil Cupcake...)

Really well loved NRFB ponies, like the movie version of Firefly, and rainbow ponies, often go up to or over $100.

Would Nightlight be considered a Nirvana? she is often over $100.

Anyone who got Rapunzel for under $300 got a deal.  I realize Mimic regularly goes for more than $100, but she also dips to $50. She is not a rare pony, just well liked- so if you are patient you can find her for a deal. I got mine for $1 at a swap meet :D

The only pony I've bought for $100 was Ice Crystal off ebay. Nowadays I hunt thrift stores and antique malls for ponies. I don't think I'd spend nearly that much on a pony now.
