Forgive me if this topic isn't in the right area. Feel free to place it in its appropriate forum, mods!
I also apologize if this a repeat topic. I haven't seen it though, so I figured this was okay.
So my fiance recently purchased a very special G1 pony for me. She'll be my very first pony that isn't G4! I'll brag about it once I get her, but for now I'll just stay quiet. ;) edit: I can now say that my first G1 pony is Night Glider! I love her so much!
That purchase got me to thinking about my collection and how much it has grown in the past two years since I've started collecting, and then I tried to remember the first pony I bought. I honestly can't remember for sure, but I believe it was Ride-Along Rainbow Dash.
Anyway! I'd love to know which pony was the first pony you ever owned, whether it be one you bought or one you were given as a child, just the first one you remember ever owning. Extra cool points if you post pictures. I wanna see 'em!
-
My first MLP was G2 magic motion Sweet Berry with tea set
But before her, I got two fakies, white mom and pink baby (I think they are called Chap Mei).
-
I inherited my Aunts' G1 collection, so it wasn't just one pony that was my first. But my favorite of the bunch was SS Ribbon. :)
My first G2 was Sky Skimmer, first G3 was Pinkie Pie, and my first G4 was Rainbow Dash.
-
G4 Fluttershy was my first pony :)
followed by G4 Rainbow Dash moments later .
-
G1 Glory! She's still beautiful.
-
I donĀ“t remember which pony for me that was my first one but i hae a photo some were with me and daddy apple delight so i Think he was my first pony or baby cotton candy :)
-
G2 Magic Motions Ivy. She is also my alltime favorite pony.

My first ponies were a whole bunch of them handed down to me and my sister from our aunt; among them were two Posies, Cherries Jubilee, Majesty, Windy and a ton of others. The first pony I got when I decided to replace them was, as luck would have it, another Posey!
-
My very first pony was Baby Firefly back in the 80's. I was about 4 or 5 years old. ^-^ Unfortunately, I don't have her anymore, nor any pictures of her. I lost her in a move when I was little.
-
Sea pony Baby water lilly! When I was 3 years old. I am guessing that my aunt gave it to me I asume this beacuse she was alwase buying toys and keeping them in the closet for gifts for anythibg that could come up. I got water lillly in 1994.
In 1991 I have a picture of bubblefish next to me likely my sisters mlp.
They has a bunch and I played with them I just don't recall much. For a fact I know we had Applejack, Blossom, northstar? White adult seapony red hair, baby sea pony blue with purple hair, ugh! I know there where more!
I could have swore we had a wooden sea pony puzzle.
When I was 9 I got into G2 and my first set was Tipsy tulip, then Ivy, then sundance, all magic motion mib!
Then when G3 came out it was the cotton candy cafe along with sparkle works and star swirl,
G4 blnd bags, buy I own a feather may from 2010. I don't collect G4 tho. Here and there yes.
I am an old timer tho.
-
My first pony as a collector was Cotton Candy :) And working to release dates, I think my first MLP as a little girl was also Cotton Candy!
-
G1 Cotton Candy, I got her for my 3rd or 4th birthday  I still have her.
Love pkw xxx
-
I inherited a few g1's from my mom, and I'm not completely sure i remember the first pony that was actually mine... I think it may have been g3 kimono or desert rose
-
My first childhood pony was Bow Tie :) When I began collecting as an adult, the first pony I added to my collection was Powder :)
-
G3 Pinkie Pie, and I still have her! :)
-
G1 Lickety Split when I was about 5. I really like that she was pink, as it was my favourite colour back then :)
-
My Dad brought me G1 Applejack for about my 3 or 4th Birthday, I don't know how it came about but I ended up getting two and Bubbles too!
I still have them both, they are very loved so definitely not in the best condition but I would never part with either of them!
-
My first pony was Sugarberry, I got her for Christmas when I was three I believe? I don't remember actually opening her, but there are pictures somewhere at my moms. I still have her too! :lovey:
-
The very first pony I ever got (and still have!) is Bowtie! I got her when I was 2. She's been well loved!
-
Oh gosh! Your talking about a while back. I do remember my aunt giving me her ponies. She was about six years older then me. I got four of the collector pose ponies, Lickety Split and Sparkle. I still have all of them to this day to :)
-
my sister grew up in the 80s so she had just a few G1s that i kind of inherited as i grew up in the 90s and was OBSESSED with horse figures.
i received G1 Banana Surprise and G1 Tropical Breeze from my sis.... Banana Surprise is in pretty pristine condition now (somehow) but Tropical Breeze is completely smoke stained as has a TON of cancer and no wings ofc. :c
she also gave me some of the sparkly petites with brushable tails.. i only have the one with the wand cutie mark now, but i remember having dreams about the "turet" petite in the same set (orange with purple hair and blue bow)!!!!
and as i was growing up i remember buying g2 Clever Clover and Morning Glory from wal mart ^^
-
The first Pony I ever brought with my own money was Twist and Style Starsong (G 3.5), the first pony I ever owned was a chap-mei, who is white. I still have her even though she's about ten years old now, and I didn't much care for ponies as a child.
-
Mine was G1 Baby Sleep Tight; I found her in a thrift store when I was four or five. Still have her, in fact!
-
Mine's came in a 3 pack for Christmas :P G3 Toola-Roola #1, Fluttershy and Pink Sunsparkle :P
They are still with me and won't be going anywhere anytime soon ;)
-
I can't remember my very first as I got a few ponies all at one time. But they were all g1. I know bubbles, apple jack and moondancer were part if that crew!
My first g2 was berry bright and ivy I was so excited about them
And my first g3s were sweet berry, sparkle works and minty! I rushed to tru when they got them.
First g4 was flutter shy!

Dat's meh pony. I played with it, my lil sis played with it and my cousin played with it. Now she is back with me.. stupid cousin bite her ear and someone made a mark on her foot.
But I'm glad she is back and as pink as when she left<3
-
Either G1 Merriweather or G1 baby Splashes! I only remember having those two, although I can't remember when I got them or for what occasion.
-
G1 FF Cotton Candy.
-
I don't remember which one was my very first. Dancing Butterflies, Coco Berry and Tutti Frutti are the ones I remember deboxing when I was kid.
-
My first pony was a Lanard, but my first MLP was NBBE Baby Half Note, given to me by a friend when we were 7. (We used to exchange little friendship gifts)
-
Hm... Depends on the definition. My *very* first MLP toys were the first G4 set from McDonalds. However, if we're going for the official brushable toys, my first was G3 Jazz Matazz. =)
-
My first pony as a little kid was Parasol. As a collector, Clever Clover.
-
G2 Magic Motions Ivy. She is also my alltime favorite pony.

Oh gosh, she's pretty! I really love the G2 ponies. I may have to start collecting them at some point.
^.^

G1 Cotton Candy was my first pony.

-
G1 Peachy was my first pony. I got her with the Pretty Parlor play set when I was about 4 years old. I still have Peachy but don't know what happend to the play set :(
-
My first pony was some pink soft fake with tricolor hair. I think I might be two or three then. After that I got Boysenberry pie as first G1 pony. She was Queen in every play I played with my friends.
-
Mine was G1 Bubbles :)
-
G3 Strawberry Swirl!
I also got a McDonald's Sparkleworks and Pinkie Pie somewhere along the line. I'm also convinced I had a Sweetberry plushie, too, but I haven't
been able to get my paws on another one.
The rest of my childhood ponies I still have.
-
My first pony was a G3 Minty, and I also had a Butterfly Island version of Golden Delicious. I don't have Minty or Golden Delicious anymore, sadly.
As far as actual collecting goes, it was a G4 Rarity, who has a failed styling cut going on because I thought, at that time, I could be the true pony hair master.
-
I don't remember which pony was my first. I grew up with the G1s but if I had to make a very tentative guess I'd say...G1 Windy maybe? idk.
My first G3s were Rainbow dash and Denim Blue though.
-
G4 Fluttershy
-
Mine was G1 so soft parafise and fifi but i lost them growing up. Still searching for it
-
I got Tuneful from my older sister. She was the only one left over from their toys besides several Dream Beauties and some merchandise like the lunch box and thermos sets.
-
My first one was G1 Windy, french one :satisfied:
And I think my second was Gusty. They remain my favourite ones, together with the collector pose :inlove:
-
G1 Cherrries Jubilee, my mom got her for both me and my sister.
-
My first pony was G3 Tink-a-Tink-a-Too. I absolutely love her! I still have her.
-
My first pony was G1 Cherries Jubilee when I was about 5 or so. I still have her, and she's still beautiful!
Then in January 2009 I bought Masquerade from EBay, so she was my first pony as an adult! I still have her too, and she's also beautiful! I'm not sure when I officially decided I was going to collect, that was a while after that really, but she's probably what started it off for me.

G1 pony for sure but which one, I don't remember.
It might have been italy Peachy, Lemon Drop or Baby Lickety-Split (first tooth). Maybe Cotton Candy... It funny, I do remember my little sister's first ponies but not which one was my first pony...
The next ones were Merry Treat, Dancing Butterflies, Surprise Twins Mommy, Sand Digger and Curly Locks. After that Sweet Clover (german version) Pony Bride, Love Token, Sweet Notes, Baby Candy and Baby Soft Steps (which I got from my grandparents). And G2 pony Princess Crystal.
All my childhood ponies are still in my collection expect Sand Digger and Curly Locks, they are upgrades. And my sister's ponies are in my collection too.
-
Starshine, year 2 G1. Classic white with rainbow hair... so lovely!
-
My first pony... Well, I started with three all purchased at once. Fluttershy, Luna, and Celestia from G4. All have since had "upgrades" replace them as far as representing the characters, but I still have them. They're mid-customization at present
-
G4 Applejack. Then came Fluttershy and Fashion Style Applejack, then all the G4s I could get my hands on.
-
G1 Glory! She's still beautiful.
me too :) mine too
-
Mine was G1 SHS Dainty. I was born in the 90's though, so I believe I got her from a flee market. I don't have her anymore.
-
Cotton Candy was my very first pony.
-
My very first pony was G1 Cotton Candy. I wish I could say I still have her but I have some replacements that are great.
-
My first pony is G3 Minty! I begged and begged and begged and finally my parents said yes!
-
My very first MLP was a G4 Pinkie Pie ornament (the one holding a snowflake), aka not even a brushable. My first brushable, and the one that sucked me in, was G4 Cherry Pie.
-
G1 baby Firefly :)
-
First G4 was Lily Blossom (first release) and First G1 was BB Quarterback. <3
First G2 was Clever Clover
forgot my first G3... I'll keep thinking...
-
G2 Ivy!! She's still my absolute favourite <3 here's an older pic I have of her, with Baby Fern who I got much later when I started collecting ^^
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
First G1 was Cool Breeze, but the pony that really started me off collecting was the Pony Bride~
-
i remember being probably three or four years old and going to either ames or hills and talking my mum into letting me put G2 petal blossom into the cart.
i don't have any G3s, but my first G4 was a blind bag (and i still don't have many), and my first G1 was bowtie.
-
Tickle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) ;) ;)
-
My first was G1 Baby Dancing Butterflies. For a quarter at a thrift store. I was 3.
-
I'm a child of the (late) 80's (1986) so obviously it was a G1! ^.^
My first pony (the oldest one I remember at least) is Strawberry Surprise; my childhood copy still smells faintly of strawberries!
-
So soft Heart throb. I got her when I was 3 years old. She's still in my collection, and will never be sold :D
**Lady seashell**
-
My first ponies were Cotton Candy and Lemon Drop with the Show Stable. (I believe I got them both at Christmas - at least they are both in the Christmas morning photo when I was a wee child, lol).
My first G2s were the entire first set of 6, as my mom got them for me for my 18th birthday. She missed buying me toys - and I didn't complain to get ponies again!
My first G3 was Kimono. I was so happy to see ponies in stores again!
My first G4 was Rarity.
-
oh! just remembered!! my first G3 was Breezie
-
G1 Star dancer and DJ and a seapony
-
Not a veteran. I was one of those hated G4 show lovers who looked down on the older generations.
Emphasis on was because I love the old gens now and I like seeing MLP roots.
The first time I buckled down and bought a pony felt weird. In target, Sunset Shimmer with that dumb mask was on sale. And it was between classes. I bought her then shoved her in my bag while I felt bizarre for smuggling a pony into college.
Then when I got home I loved her to pieces.
And then it just grew from there.
Don't have any older gens but I'm not exactly a garage sale searcher, I do have some fakies and Filly Funtasia though haha.
Lately my collection has spilt over to Monster High.
Ponies are a gateway drug to doll collecting.

Oh, I was the same! I got my first G1 pony though, so I believe this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship with G1 pony collecting along with my G4s.
I'm not sure I'll get into G2 and G3, but I can still appreciate them.
I'm still not into dolls of any kind and I don't think I ever will be, but I have to admit that the Monster High ones are really cool (and I hated them before).

My first pony was a Wave 1 Twilight blind bag. I was 21.
I got my Rainbow Dash brushable toy when I was 21 back in 2011, so yup! Grew up in the 90s but didn't grow up with ponies.
I almost wish I could say I had a pony or two from when I was younger, since I'm starting to collect G1's now.
-
My first g1 was SS Wind Whistler, who I got for Christmas when I was four. :) still my favorite, though I list my original one,
My sister had Glory before that but I don't count her because I never got to play with her.
My first pony as a collector was g3 Merriweather, diva pose.
-
My first pony was G1 Snuzzle, in the pretty parlor, for christmas. I was 4or 5. And I was not happy because I had asked for the pony of rainbow brite, the pretty white and rainbow horse!!! Not a dull brown horse (yes my snuzzle was a variant brown).
But I also received Moonstone, and this one, I love him!! (Yes it was a him for me). He was rainbow, and it was a unicorn!!! I was in love with him. I take it everywhere with me.
Then my first G3 pony was rainbow dash, in 2003.

As a kid until I was older I always thought it was Parasol...Then my mom told me it was SS Truly. But as I kept all my combs/ribbon I apparently had FF Blue Belle and CF Blossom....All of which I still own!
-
My first childhood pony was Bluebell (who I still have) and my first pony as a collector was Bubbles!
-
My first pony was Bow-Tie, a present from Gran before going to visit Grandad in hospital. Bought on Saturday May 26th 1984
And here she is borrowing Peachy's Grooming Parlour :satisfied:

Snuzzle! I still remember getting her from the store. I loved her so much that I would put her in a clear plastic bag to take her outside so she wouldn't get any dirt on her but could still see outside. :)
-
Almost a year ago to the day my first pony was G1 'Flower Bouquet' - the white pony bottom left:-
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
Spotted her at UK PonyCon 2013 whilst browsing the For Sale tables and liked her because she was different to all of Clare's ponies (Clarabel Sapphire, above). Once I'd been filled-in on the Merry-go-Round ponies I managed to find three others at PonyCon and finally tracked the other two down on Ebay :)
So pretty much one year ago today I became a proper MLP fan/collector :frolic:

Peachy's Pretty Parlor for my third birthday. At the time, I may have adored Twinkles the cat more than her, lol.
I no longer have either (though I did replace Twinkles), but I did manage to save a few babies from my original G1 herd.
-
It was a two pack of a G3 Minty and Autumn Skye :3 I still have Minty but I can't seem to find Autumn Skye ):
-
My first pony I remember was ss Posey. When I began to recollect the first time back in 2003 it was ss skippity doo. I guess I love so sorts lol
-
G2 Magic Motions Ivy. She is also my alltime favorite pony.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
She's the only one I can recall from my childhood.
Out of the new collections I got the mini's first, it was my boyfriends and I kinda yokined her.
-
My first pony *ever* was G1 SS Wind Whistler. I got her for Easter when I was uh... very, very young. The picture of me with her makes me look around two, maybe?
I held on to a small herd of my G1s after I "grew up", but the first pony I got that actually plunged me in to collecting was G3 Sparkleworks II.
-
I cannot remember who my exact first pony from child hood I still have a lot of them but who was the first I don't really know but the first one I bought when I started collecting was pretty vision. (so I class her as my first as the others were bought for me)
I did not know that she was a brush and grow and just thought she had a really bad tail cut. so I chopped her mane off to normal brushable length then by coincidence just happened to pull her tail and it came out and her head came off at the same time.
poor girl I still have her head reattached but I had to cut her tail because the mechanism does not work now so she just has normal length now but a permanent home as an apology to torching the poor thing
-
Well it's hard question... I think it was Nightlight :) But it could be Tulip as well or one of the Bully pinies :)
-
My very first pony was G1 Butterscotch.
