Title: Pony Room Color ? Need Help!
Post by: achab1984 on July 20, 2014, 07:12:28 AM
We are in the process of getting out basement don't and I am going to be using the fourth bedroom for my ponies. But I am stuck, I don't know what color to paint the walls? I have the curtains already, they were in my daughters room before.

You can see the very lower part of them in the picture below. They are see threw and has white and pink in them.  I don't want to do pink walls though.

And I don't want to do anything super dark either.

Please help me out and if you have a pony room please share with me them. Oh and another thing my curios are all brown, I don't have any white ones.

Go for a soft, ice blue. Very pale, but it keeps the room colder, and reflects light, making it lighter and brighter :) just my two cents!

Well I hate to be boring but I think a cream color would probably look the best......pink and white just go together very well......the only other color I thought of was a really really light pink..but you said no pink so.....

Let us know what you choose :)

This. My room was a color like this, but now it is a very light purple/blue which is just as nice.  ^.^

Snuzzle grey. It's perfect for making white and pink pop!

A pale sky blue will work nice, just make sure theres a touch of 'grey' in it/not too bright or it will feel like you are in an aquarium.

I also agree with a cool medium grey--maybe tinted blue or cream.  You might think grey is a boring colour but when its put on walls it makes everything else fall into place--and it goes well with pink, brown and white.  Just make sure its not pure grey and not too dark.

I was going to say a nice dove gray. The pink looks amazing with it and so will any pony colour!!that gray is really popular right now in particular with baby nurseries and children's rooms (and kitchens, dining, living rooms lol)

pony room you say? Mine is teal. Though lavender/pastel purple seems to be the most common choice.

I think teal might clash with your curtains though. I prefer to go more bright and wild with my colors as opposed to safe and soft.

My spare room was painted sort of a sea-foam green when we moved in and I HATED it. The previous owners had paired it with darker green and red plaid curtains... yuck!  So, once I got my primarily pink pony stuff in, the green looked pretty good and I decided to keep it!  AND previous owners had pink carpet which is what you see in the picture.  Not a fan of the pink carpet and it will change eventually but it looks good with the soft green.

There are some amazing shades of white with just a hint of other colors mixed in. I would say go with something with barely a shade of pink... (I know, I know you said you didn't want pink, but should be quite bright!)

I would recommend any shade of white, as it matches well with anything and will make the room a bit brighter.

i have this colour in my bedroom, with brown furniture. otherwise i'd go for a pale cream, but with a brown tint rather than a yellow tint.

and here it is on the walls - unfortunately it is not a pony room

I second this!  My pony room is painted Snuzzle Grey with pink trim.  ^.^  I wanted something soft and simple because with all the bright colored ponies, it gets very busy.

You could also do most of the walls in a "boring" color, like cream or white or pale gray, then have just one wall in a more vivid color. My dad did that in his bathroom, and I'm surprised how much I liked it!

If you have a ton of pink ponies, it might not be a bad idea to go with another color for contrast.  Agrees with the others that said a light bluish color.

I have white walls, because I like that nothing takes away from the ponies

I have those same curtains  :lovey:

My room is a light pink. I was trying to find a close up to better explain, I don't know if you can tell here or not. It matches those curtains perfect though.

Have you thought of a light purple/lilac color? That was the color of my room forever and I loved it.

Go for grey! I had a room that was painted "Ash Mist" and it was so awesome! My room was a Red Wing theme, so the grey looked good against the red and black, without being dark.

There's just not enough pink in life.

I'm redoing my pony room as we speak (ponies are out and stored, misc coming out, today, hopefully I can get to the shelves). I LOVE my pink with purple trim. The wall is cheap paneling, which is cheap (its coming out and we're putting in drywall), but I love that it gives it a wood paneling look like we are in a stable. But I think I'm going to do the same pink again! I don't think it takes away from the ponies, I think it enhances the "oh my gosh I'm in another world" feeling, like I've traveled over the rainbow to ponyland, and not like I'm in a room full of toys.

Word.

My favorite colors have always been pink and lavender. However, since that's not your cup of tea, how about a pretty yellow? Something that's light and cheerful. Ponies deserve a happy color.

Thank you for sharing ponyqueen :)  I did have my daughters old room painted yellow and thought that it would look nice. The only thing is my curio's are all brown and not sure how that would look. Now if I had white curios it would look awesome!!!!  :) I thought about redoing mine but some of them are so old and still like new, just get myself to do it :(
