Title: PC and advice for pink hair Argie Gingerbread
Post by: angelponies on July 13, 2014, 10:29:03 PM
I am wanting to get this girl but I am wondering if anyone has seen one and does anyone know what a fair price would be? I am hesitant about buying her but if she is legit then I don't want to miss my chance on getting her  I had that happen with a baby Argie Moony pony, I passed up cause her hair was different and she turned out to be legit  >_< I don't want to make that mistake again :|

Head and body are the same color and she is missing quite a few plugs, still has metal tail washer I trust the seller but he doesn't know much about ponies, he only finds them for me  :P

Thanks!

Edit this is a photo I found online but the eyes look weird to me, does anyone have a better photo or does anyone have a pink haired Gingy?~

I donno. Could be real but might also be rehaired.
Too many shady things occur with ponies in argentina.
Fingers crossed for you :)

I agree! Some you just don't know, like some of the alt symbols, like one I have in my Siggy the pink haired Sparkler  :| I dunno but I don't want to pass it up if it is, I am hoping that she is not a re-hair too! I will have to figure out what is a good offer for her  :satisfied: just incase!

What is the difference in eye colour between moondancer and gingerbread?  She may be a head swap. It is very hard to tell :(

Thanks :satisfied:

PKW~ The Gingy's eyes are usually pink and hers look purple. Moondancer has purple eyes like the one on the Gingy in the picture, that is why I am hesitant  -_- but if it is legit, I don't wanna pass her up and miss my chance >_<! If only someone else had a good photo of one to compare, these argies are so hard to tell, ugh!! Another thing with the eye colors is that rainbow Moondancer has Gingys eye color and not regular Moondancers eye color :faint:

Is there any way you can get the seller to take a picture of the inside of her head. You can *usually* tell if it's a rehair by looking at the root line.
Good luck :)

Thanks for clearing that up :) I did have a feeling there would be no pattern though

I'm trying to remember what colour Eyes Shelti's moon dancers had since she had two variants that were hard to find (green and rainbow)

Be careful angelponies with who do you get these rare variants from. There's a seller that I've named many times before who has old pony hair from top toys factory and many times he "created" new variants which he sells for huge amounts of money.
She could be real I'm not saying she's a fake, but honestly it's very simple to take a tail and head from a moondancer and putting them on a gingerbread's body. Just have that in mind :)

Thanks Mar, I think I know who you are talking about. I believe it is the same fella I bought my white Sparkler from in my Siggy (points down)  -_-

This is a different seller this time, but it is just so iffy =/ she does look like a Moondancer/Gingy hybrid it would be very easy to swap heads if you had a few of them, just like rainbow Moondancer looks like a Moondancer/Gingy hybrid but there are a few of her around at least, I haven't seen but one pink haired Gingy and the picture isn't the greatest, that is why I was hoping someone had at least one , but I think I might pass on her cause it is just too hard to tell

Hello there,
the pic you put in your post is from my blog, and it's my pony  ;)
I got her a few years ago, and I bought her, honestly, with a real doubt she was an original one.
But she was cheap so I tried...
Frankly, I still have a doubt on her authenticity by now, and I think I'll ever have one, but by looking at her closely, I must say I'm tempted to believe she's an original one.
Her head was glued, and head and body are exactly the same color. Inside the head, the hair is breaded and glued as every other ponies.
The eyes, that you find odd, are simply rubbed, and it seems her former owner tried to color them with pink highlighter to fix it. The effect is odd indeed, but I prefered not to touch them. It's the explanation for the eyes...
So, personnally, I'm on the side of the ones who believe in her.
I moved recently, so ponies are still in boxes, but I think I know where she is, so maybe I can find her easily and make a few more pics, if you wish ?
So you can make your own idea.

Ugh...I am with everyone else with Argies its such a tough call on whether she is a legit or anything from an original rehair to a current rehair scam. :(

The obvious option is as others have mentioned is her being a head/tail swap - can your seller give you closer up pictures even of the neck seam? The colour looks super close for it being a straight out swap but I also agree if they are asking for a high price its probably worth skipping on her.

I'm not an Argie collector for just this reason, but frankly, i'm also a bit of a risk taker when it comes to playing what i cal "Pony Roulette" True, the house wins quite a few times, but i've scored some pretty amazing AND genuine variants by taking the leap of faith!
A big part of Pony Roulette is going with your true gut, though, and not your head or heart. However, if you truly like the way she looks and she isn't too dauntingly expensive, go ahead and get her! If you're looking for an original pony as an investment to sell down the line and make money off of, though, that's when you just need to trust your instinct. Ask for as much info as you can get...where was it found, a pic of the inside of the head and backside, and go from there.
Good luck!!

I have to agree.. I unfortunately was also a victim of this scam (luckily the auction ended cheaply and so I got a good deal) but after looking inside the head of my Argie Pinwheel that had purplish blue hair, I did indeed see an odd hairline and hot pink hairs leftover inside..so she was definitely rehaired.  I have been meaning to commission the talented PKW again to restore to her original hair color, but she's packed away for now and can wait.

Anyway, I agree...when in doubt, stay away.  It pains me so to say that too because I LOVE Argies.

It is so hard to tell sometimes, especially with Argies when you know there are ones out there that aren't legit. I would go with your gut as well, however price can factor into it as well... if it's not too expensive then it can be worth the chance sometimes.
