Title: Alpacasso!
Post by: Winter Bones on July 12, 2014, 09:14:58 AM
So I  recently learned that alpacasso (http://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag140/OneWingChangeling/WINTERALPACA_zps358da67b.jpg) are a thing and, naturally, I am now waiting on two of them plus one bootleg. Just can't resist the cuteness. Any other 'paca herders here? Which size/series is your favourite? Who's your grail alpaca? Who's your cutest? Show off your alpacas and discuss!

I have 2 rainbow alpacassos on the way as well :)
My grail alpacasso is a regional melon boy! My favourite is my blue ramune soda boy because he was first and my fiancé got him for me as an anniversary present! But be careful with bootlegs! The pic link you posted are fake alpacassos!

Wow, it's getting so hard to tell these days. DX I've taken to only buying from sellers who exclusively supply legits to lessen the trouble. Unless I'm knowingly buying a hilarious looking knockoff to add a little variety to the herd.  :P

Your collection is gorgeous by the way! Love that giant neon alpacasso.

I'm currently awaiting my first one which is on it's way in the mail to me!

Congrats, which one did you get? :)

I have one ! Absolutely no idea if it's bootleg or not.. doesn't matter to me, really.
The tag seems official, though ! "Amuse" is on it a few times, front and back. But, I also got it at a con, so.. I think it's adorable anyway. The bow is really fluffy and pretty in the back. :)

I'd love one with heart shaped glasses.. I think those are legit ?

I even follow a tumblr blog that posts nothing but alpacasso plush and also gives advice on which are authentic and which are bootleg!

Can you share the link ? :)

I'm afraid it's a bootleg! But that doesn't mean it's any less adorable :) there's loads of people on tumblr who post about alpacasso, some great people are: moccoe, soreyal, and kittyblacksheep. Some sellers also post, like alpacaloco, alpacassosg, and alpacassoshop :)

There are legit ones and fake ones with heart shape glasses.

Ironically I saw heart shaped glasses at my local chinese grocery store yesterday with a fake "amuse" tag.

The fakes really bother me, it makes it hard to collect and sell legit ones. The sad thing is a lot of the fakes go for as much as real ones. Like I have a legit one for sale now with very little interest... but there are fakes of the same one, same size, even with a "convincing" fake tag, with tons of interest.

I have 3 huge ones, and a bunch of little 14cm ones. My favorite has to be the one that I tried to get in a UFO catcher machine (and I came so close!) My dad kept giving me money to try again. Then eventually I walked away because I nudged him in a spot I wouldn't be able to get him...... so then as a surprise my husband decided to waste all his money to get him, and ended up winning him for me. It's a cute baby alpaca with a candy necklace.

I've always wanted the sleepy light green one (pretty old now), but never was able to get one.

I have two!  One from a member in here (blue with star) and the other from my honey who got me it from a convention (has a bandana). Both are mini sized (I think) and my favorite is my blue one with the star . I'd love more but I'd be nuts to start a whole new collection. Too many things to collect!  The photos up above with a whole display case make it tempting.

How do you tell which ones are bootleg and which ones are real?

You have to look at the tags :) mainly the paper tag and the cloth tag will tell you, and some sets are bootlegged more than others.

Nah don't use eBay! So many bootlegs. Go to Store Envy and buy from Rosy's Garden, AlpacassoSG, Kawaiiplushlove, and Plushies Paradise. I've bought from all these sellers and they're all great!

I have the pink one from the Sweet Kids collection. They're kinda pricey, but super well made and cuddly.

Eh, ebay is ok to buy from-- but you have to avoid the bootlegs (putting the search mode for US only, gets rid of a good chunk of them).

Seconding Scraleos, the storenvy sellers also have slightly lower prices and shipping. In my case it was only about 4 dollar shipping to Canada as opposed to the roughly ten it usually costs on ebay, and I knew for sure I was getting legits too.

You guys are the best!  Thanks for all the suggestions!  I checked store envy first and it looks like their prices are very reasonable!

You know, a little soft pink one would make an adooorable gift for a newborn baby girl! They're so ridiculously cute.

Apologies for reviving a fairly old thread, but I just bought from Cutie Pie Kawaii, (http://www.cutiepiekawaii.com/#!kawaiialpaca/cijr) a US based Alpacasso seller who (supposedly) sells authentic alpacas. They're much cheaper than buying from a Chinese or Japanese based seller, as my total for a 50 cm Alpaca only totaled to $32, where it usually cost me around $50 to buy one from international sellers. I'll post here again once my alpaca arrives.   :) They've also got a store in Pennsylvania if you're around those parts.

Oh, yay, they have the Wooly sheep which I've been meaning to get... and I'm making a trip to PA this weekend... maybe I'll have to drive a bit farther and go to this store. ;)

On the topic of Alpacas, I was thinking about selling a couple of my bigger older plushies (trying to downsize). I'm not sure if anyone here would be interested?

These were the ones I was considering letting go :

They just take up too much space ^^;;; Sorry for the grainy picture, not too much light in my room atm.
Although I'm heavily attached to the green macaroon one, and probably won't be able to let that go. And not sure about the huge kids alpaca, since I paid way too much for him and just got him. (Although he's pretty boring to me).

I also have a white tissue cover alpaca, who is about the same size as the large ones. Has a small rip inside, and a small stain on the ear I haven't cleaned up yet, so can probably let that go for a pretty good price. (Pretty much looks like a sitting alpaca).

I'm also bidding on a lot right now, and only want one in the lot....... so if I get that, there will be a bunch of small ones I'll wanna get rid of.

ETA:
I won my auction ^^ So I'm just most of these little ones will be available as well, but it'll take a couple weeks to get here. (I was after the yellow llama, to replace my big yellow llama haha...)

^_^ I didn't think there would be as much interest. I'll work on getting some pictures up of the big ones.

Until then, I'm not completely sure about prices. I know what I paid (which wasn't that bad)-- but since they are "retired" designs, does that mean that they should be a little bit more than the current ones? (Not a lot more). Any thoughts? Looking on ebay is a mess to me since there are so many fakes.

whoa whoa whoa i did not know there was a store that had alpacasso in pennsylvania, and that's the state i live in! ugh i can already see that it's over an hour away from where i am. that's going to be so difficult to get to with my frail car  :drunk: i'm a huuge fan of alpacasso aah. i'm terrible and have already ordered some of the new october bedtime series (which are super cute you guys look them up!), so they're currently in the post. it would be perfect if i could just take a drive to purchase them instead, though.

as for ordering alpacasso, i definitely recommend rosy61987 and kittyblacksheep from tumblr, alpacassosg and pixie from storenvy, and otakumode.com for getting alpacas. those are all vendors i have personally purchased from and have had no trouble with. if you guys want series that have been "retired", i'd definitely suggest sending kittyblacksheep or rosy a message, because they both can do specific custom orders and just might have what you're looking for  :good:

Can anyone tell me where this Alpacasso thing started?  Google pretty much turns up only online dealers in its results.  Was this just a plush that someone started making, and it blew up in popularity?  Or is it from an anime/manga?  Or something else entirely?  :P

I have seen these in random places online for like a year or two, but I didn't even know what they were called until I read this thread!  :P

aw thanks and OH YOU TOO! yep yep i was really surprised to find someone in the exact same city as me! what are the chances!

seriously be careful with those crafty alpacas...they've been known to multiply in great numbers over short periods of time. its like an awful, really expensive, and really really cute disease. however, out of all the problems to have, a horde of adorable, fluffy alpacas taking over your home is a pretty good one, i'd say.

i'm pretty sure alpacas became popular in asia from some sort of music video (i apologize as i'm not sure which one), which kinda started the alpaca craze for cuteness. i'm not entirely sure who was first to start making the plushies, but i know the brand amuse is regarded as the authentic producers of alpacasso plushies. they also make tons of other cute stuffies like woolly, flan, roppi the rabbit, tsuchineko kitty, etc...
