WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So excited...4 weeks of football. 4 WEEKS PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *jumps around happy* And because its Brazil the games are even all on at a reasonable time for us in the UK :)

[and the tennis packed in to 2 weeks of that and the British Grand Prix makes that new tv totally worth the investment :P]

I have a soft spot for the US and Australia - a couple of the favourite players ever to play for the team I support came from the US and Aus [Claudio Reyna & Craig Moore] so I like to see them do well.

However I ll be supporting the Netherlands - 2 years of living there not to mention that my team's greatest time was when we had world class Dutch players in our team makes them my favourite. So GO TEAM ORANGE!!!! It can be dangerous wearing an orange football shirt in south west Scotland for obvious reasons :P but I ll be sporting it tomorrow night for them!

*gasp*

Just kidding, I know not everyone's a fan.  ;)

I went to one of the "Road to Brazil" friendlies last week (Spain-El Salvador), and even though it was meaningless, it was great fun.

I miss living in Toronto now, because I always love going through a parking area and seeing all the different flags on (nearly) everyone's car.

Oh yeah, let the flags wave free and the horns honk xD

We..can get pretty passionate come Fifa football!  And our house is usually split down the middle. 50% Italy, 50% Germany, 100% hard headed! (Its 100% true and I can say that because I AM part German, part Italian ;) )

Jlhgoddersutd, I love the English Moondancer in your signature.  All of my close Brit friends hate soccer- they are so disappointing  :P

Sprintex, I'm completely down with a no football zone.  No soccer on the other hand, that will never happen! ;)

Hervoyel, I went to a friendly in November, US women vs Brasil, very fun!

nhal039, I'm right there with your husband.  It is good to see the Cup return to a place with such a fab soccer history.

Hathorcat, I know, a whole month, I just love it!  And it was great to see the Netherlands even things up with the South African finale replay against Spain the other day.

Sora, I love to see Pikachu getting into the game, so cute!

melodys_angel, without Oliver Kahn, I find it hard to support the Germans but Italy plays a nice game.

Hey, they showed a lot of respect yesterday and im proud of them for that!

Headbutting a downed player purposely, that was low!

I really enjoyed the match Germany vs. Portugal. First time ever that I had fun watching football. But this morning when I woke up and read about Spain ....
I guess I will be supporting Germany now, because usually Spain is my favourite team.

Well, this erks me.

I went downstairs and the tv was on.  Apparently some American channels are celebrating something fierce that they HAVE won the whole cup, are #1 and so on. The eagle on one side and 'we are the #1 champions' in HUGE white text across the screen.

Im sorry.  I have many friends from south of the border, but I will be surprised if the US makes it to the quarter finals.  Being downright arrogant about it makes things worse.

You have some super strong teams..Brazil, Italy, Germany...even England that are known to make it the whole way up. And they all know that anything can happen..I mean, look at what happened to Spain (who was the crowd favourite after they went all the way pre fifa), and Italy 4 years ago (a freaking disgrace!)

Sure, there will be horn honks and flag waving, but going to the level of falsely advertising something on national tv...not cool.

Sorry guys, this is just as bad as poor sportsmanship on the field.  Far from classy.

I go, as a good football fanatic, with the Spanish ``Red´´. Well..its better to say that i ``was´´

Thanx for that 7 years of awesome football matches guys and all of the unolvidable moments, even if we lost fast now on Brazil. Iniesta, Xabi, Cesc, Villa, Torres... This golden age isn´t going to be forgotten NEVER, and Spain is going to come back. Be sure of it.

And, even losing, we are still faaar better than the americans (a little pun :P)

Gutted that England are out so quickly - still at least we don't have the pain of the knockouts and being ousted on penalties! (which seems to be pretty standard for us in major comps!)

Shame about Spain too as I enjoy watching them. Guess I'll probably be backing the Dutch now they are probably my next favourite - come on you oranges!!

Nah, someone weird is going on.  I think this is an offyear for the stronger teams.  Or just a bout of bad luck.

Im not too thrilled Italy is being sent to elimination round, but the way I see it, they need to win or draw to stay. And they've proven that they have better handling with the ball.

Ive been told I have Germany to fall back on if I have to, but ive always leaned towards my Italian side more :)

Goooo Netherlands! Everyone thought we would be done after the match against Spain, hehe. But now the whole country is slowly turning orange :P

Yeah, I thought the Dutch would be out for Spanish blood.  I was so mad at the end of the US/Portugal game.  It kills me how the Americans just seem to give up sometimes.

Well,

I now have 0 respect for Uruguay. Because of what happened, they played yesterday instead of Italy..and it was solely because of bad referring they went on.  The red card in hindsight should have been a yellow (or no card at all.  The guy stumbled on his OWN toe!) and..well, everyone now knows what else happened, though I want to slap the coach upside the head.  You cant 'photoshop' a live replay when theres only less then 10 seconds after the actual thing happens!

I hear the biter got a heroes welcome when he came home too.

If that was Italy in that players shoes, the player would have been met with disgrace.

And...im not sure about giving up, but atleast on the tv stations, the US is very adamant on proclaiming they've already won everything.  There are maybe 3 US players I respect (including the goal keeper), otherwise, its their own country that's bringing them down ;)

Its a shame the whole of the Uruguay team is being shunned a little because of one basket case although the teams stance that he did nothing wrong is not helping their case.

Yay "my" team are still going strong :P Go Team Orange!

Loved the match between the Netherlands and Mexico yesterday. Really we won again in the last part. My favourite player is Robben. I think he's one of the best players we have! :)

I figured that rooting for three teams increases my chances of being happy in the end.  I was rooting for USA (my home country),  France (my husband's home country) or Costa Rica (where we went on out honeymoon), but USA is out now so go France and Costa Rica!!!!!!!!

I'm very happy with the final four! I'm so looking forward to the semi-finals :) What a tense game last night with the penalty-shootouts!

All or nothing. Everyones hoping over here Germany will take it.  And after that groundpound with Brazil (even though I think Germany did a courtesy to them second half by not actually trying to get more goals), its summed up that they better win.

Im actually glad Brazil lost yesterday, because they needed it to become humble instead of arrogant (because honestly, I could see that ego trip from all the way over here!).  Im just sad for them that it had to happen when they were hosting it.

That goal was beautiful..and watching the game I had my doubts that they would be able to get through that defense.

:D oh yes!!
The final was amazing already but the party today when our boys came back to Germany was... breathtaking! I watched it on TV since I could not attend in person and it was just sooo great to see! :)
I really enjoyed the whole World Cup!

Germany won, only because Pep Guardiola is training the Bayern of Munich and his style filtered to the germany selection :P

Força Barça!!
