Why is this so expensive on ebay? It sells up to $190, that's crazy! SDCC 2012 pony isn't even worth that much.

It was a very very badly distributed release but you could always get them through HTS. That said it's the only way I know to get at least two of the ponies inside and the original release of Star Dreams was European so I'm sure the ponies inside are in demand.
But yeah. eBay inflation.

I guess because I think it was an online exclusive or something. When I looked on amazon I noticed that most of the sets were being sold by people in Japan, so maybe that has something to do with it? :huh:

When this came out reviewers were saying that the quality wasn't as good as releases of the same characters in other packs. I just bought the ones I wanted from Junjie and forgot about it.

It wasn't an online exclusive per se - there have been sightings at Target.
It's not a bad set but it's not anything special. But I wouldn't be surprised if they re-release those ponies (or at least Silver Spoon) again some time in the future.

There were never enough shown up in the national retailers to suggest it was anything other than the odd return unfortunately. It was very poorly carried and for only a very short spell - mainly Target and HTS [although I think it also showed up in Meijer] online. That makes it currently hard to find, sought after and expensive.
Personally I think the ebay sales are currently just inflated and I am sure it will come down; all of the other poorly distributed items have and that's pretty normal. Unfortunately right now you have a combination of completionists who want the set MIB for their collection and those people who are panicked there will be no other way to track the ponies in the set down in the future. All that combines to make ebay prices quite high.

Wow, the prices are crazy!
I think it is like what Cat said- panic for some, irrational collecting for others. I don't know how many the Hasbrotoyshop sold, but I don't remember them selling out instantly- I think people were just waiting for them to hit stores, and they never really showed up anywhere in great numbers.
Was Silver Spoon the only pony that was releases only in this pack? If so- that may be part of the problem.

Nope. Brushable Twist-a-Loo and a different shade of Cheerilee were released as well.

I really do hope I can get my paws on this set (or at least Star Dreams, Twist-a-loo, and Silver Spoon) as I need them to finish one of my collection goals this year.

I bought mine from HTS a long time ago. The only thing I don't like about it is that you can't actually see the ponies through the packaging, and I'm a MIB collector. >_<

I hope they rerelease Silver Spoon and Twist later. Luckily I already have Star Dreams from the other release she was in.

Same here! I was just waiting to pick it up when I saw it in store! :( I don't have any of the ponies in it, and was super stoked about this set!

Okay, well I just checked "sold" auctions- and it looks like the set has been going for between $40-$50, which actually seems quite reasonable to me. I don't remember now how much it cost on the Hasbrotoyshop, but it must have been close to $40.
The people who have listings for $115 and $190 are being ridiculous. Looks like Twist and Silver Spoon sell individually for around $19, and Star Dreams for $9 or so (based on sold auctions). I imagine the other girls are considerably less.
What surprises me is that the prices don't seem to change depending whether or not Twist or Silver Spoon have their glasses.

It was 24.99 plus tax. Close to 30 :). I got mine with codes and discounts at both Hasbro and Target paid less than 20 for the 2 i have
