I've read once or twice here on the Arena conspiracy theories about how AJ is being phased out of the main six. I always think, "they're (Hasbro) not really doing this..." I mean, if she's left out of a wave release, maybe it's just coincidence? After all she was in the masquerade wave, the rainbow hair wave, and she's still on racks packaged with Cadence.
Then I saw this puzzle at a local dollar store:

There was much anger about that one, especially since AJ is my favorite.

She really does get left out a lot! However I do think the more recent toy releases show that she is going to perhaps get some more appreciation with time...we can hope!

I have pajama bottoms from Hot Topic. I saw them and grabbed them right up, thinking they were so cute. It shows the girls frolicking among rainbows, and it's not just the same stamped pose over and over again. Each pony character appears in at least three different poses.
But when I got home.... yup... "Mane 5" all over again. No AJ! (I don't get it, they had enough room to make three different poses for each pony, but couldn't include AJ even once?)

Awe that puzzle is so depressing pooor AJ! I love her so much. It really makes me sad she gets left out alot in merch! Apparently Hasbro doesent like her or think she wont sell.... *hugs AJ*

I would love it if AJ appeared on more stuff, since she is my favorite of the Mane 6. I have also noticed that she is getting replaced with Celestia on a ton of stuff. It is kind of like how Levi always replaces Armin in Attack on Titan stuff.

I was pretty frustrated that she wasn't one of this month's McPonies because the pink in her hair would have been so cute!

I wonder if it has something to do with the cost of printing on paper or fabric? If they include ponies that are mostly the same color they will have to use less colors of ink and the produce will be cheaper to make. We recently had some mugs made to advertise our degree program at my university and for every color we added the price of the mugs went up so it could maybe be a contributing factor. Of course if Rainbow Dash is there then I guess that kind of blows that theory away since she has all da' colors LOL

Oh my gosh, I love attack on titan! I've seen the whole first season and read the manga through book 12.
One of my favorite things about Apple Jack is that she is the strongest callback to generation one.

As an Armin fan (and someone who doesn,t really care too much for Levi), that makes me so sad. I noticed it when I saw an AoT shirt at Hot Topic that had Eren, Mikasa, and Levi on it. :(
I too wish AJ appeared on more mechandise. She is my second favorite behind Rarity. At least she seems to be getting a bit more attention now - I admit that for a while I actually started to dislike the "Fan Favorite Trio" for always replacing AJ (and Rarity) on merchandise. That Funko Pop! series sorta was the "final straw". ^^;

They slice off half of Rarity as well...the other "red-headed stepchild" of the mane 6. I saw this today at the Dollar store as well, and just thought it looked cheap.

I love that excuse LOL. But honestly it should not matter; most colours are a combination of 4 basic colours anyway when it comes to print. When we print it makes no difference what colours we are having, the only difference depends on the volume of print on space.

I don't have a photo, but a discount supermarket called Lidl released a set of 4 mini puzzles featuring the main five and the princesses...and poor Rarity got the boot that time :(

So far the only regular pony new release for her this year is the new Fashion Style. She doesn't look the be part of the TAF style Rainbow Power ponies either. I'm not counting the POP or Equestria Girls in there tho she seems to be getting equal releases in those lines at least.

Well you know, in G3 we had core7, now it's mane 6...So maybe next MLP will revolve around 5 main characters. :blink: (I would not be too surprised, lazy hasbro!)

Applejack is definitely not being cut out of the core cast. She is an integral part of My Little Pony and she will always be part of the Magic of Friendship, after all, without Applejack, there would be no Loyalty.
Applejack still has a huge presence when it comes to toys and we often split characters up to include them in different waves of assortments. If Applejack is not currently seen, it may be because we’re including her in something else later on.

I notice that most of these items are licensed items. It seems most likely that the licensing company's are the ones making decisions on which ponies to highlight on their own packaging/items. As others have said, Applejack is neither rainbows or pink.
I have to admit that orange is *my* least favorite color. I like her country personality on the show but in terms of shear aesthetics, she is my least favorite pony. I suspect that others feel the same way, thus why she isn't as popular as the other ponies.

I used to wonder if it was partly a colour clash thing. So often, as others have mentioned, the items are licensed and perhaps have pink or white or purple packaging. Fluttershy, Pinkie, Twilight and Rarity's colour schemes are the most complimentary to the general MLP branding and packaging. However, if this theory was true we would also see less of Rainbow Dash, who with her bright colours could also be said to clash sometimes. So I guess its just active AJ alienation :P

Now adding AJ I understood, being a fan fav and all, and in all honesty I do like DJ, I was just upset that they chose to replace AJ with her. If they had all been new or different I would have been ok too. Like DJ, PRincess Twilight, White Clestia, and Luna could have all stayed, then repaint RD to look like the bubble butt pony, Its pretty inevitable they would still use PP and RD, but come onnnnn Aj is my girl.

It does seem like there's some truth to it.... :( Even her episode where her element is challenged, no one really cares about or remembers the pony who gives her her key.... All the other ponies had awesome ponies they interacted with that have fan followings, AJ interacted with the most boring character ever....

AJ's my least favorite of the main six, so I don't usually miss her when she's not on merch or included with a set of toys. In fact, most of the time I don't even notice she's missing. A few weeks ago I bought a throw blanket I found at Walmart. I already had a MLP throw, but the one I had only had Twilight and Celestia on it, so I was telling my brother how happy I was to find a throw blanket with all the main ponies on it since most stuff only has 2 or 3 of them on it. He then pointed out that AJ wasn't there, so I looked again and he was right. I didn't even notice she was missing. Oops.

I think it's because she's less girly and kind of different looking. She's the only one with a hat, and she doesn't have much of a storyline/personality as others. Or maybe because Hasbro knows people don't like her? I don't know.

I have to say that up to G4, Applejack is not one of my favorite ponies. Basically, orange is my least favorite color. I like G4 Applejack only because, being Texan, I have to support fellow country characters.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the above posters that is it a very good possibility that poor Applejack just isn't "girly" enough. It is sad that in a lot of newer merch I have noticed Princess Celestia is replacing AJ - but as a marketing standpoint, it is widely perceived that a pretty horned, winged pastel pony princess is more marketable towards girls than an orange and yellow country pony. While in some cases this may be true, but it is sad that some people think girls "have to like pink." OK I admit pink is my favorite color, but still! :p

I don't know if they just got less stock of her or what, but AJ is the only pony my nearest BABW has ever had low or no stock of. They didn't have any non-display AJs two weeks ago, and today only had one unstuffed one in the bins. I only If had the room for her...

I nearly bought this showbag at the ekka, as the promo pics had either the funrise or ty (I can't actually remember which) plushes, but when I got there and saw the horrible crane machine plushes that hubby had already picked up for me in the machines, I let the whole bag stay there. Here's a photo of what came in my showbag, guess how much AJ? One highlighter, one picture on the pencil. She didn't get a plush, she didn't even get on the bag D:

I nearly bought this showbag at the ekka, as the promo pics had either the funrise or ty (I can't actually remember which) plushes, but when I got there and saw the horrible crane machine plushes that hubby had already picked up for me in the machines, I let the whole bag stay there. I've never even seen a AJ or RD in those plushes, and they're in all the crane machines around here!
Hunter Leisure never makes AJ or RD in any of their plush sizes or types. Just the range of four, Pinkie, Rarity, Twilight and Fluttershy. :huh:

Maybe AJ is making a come-back. Those new puzzle erasers have Applejack! Oddly enough, they seem to have left out... Twilight ?? But of course they didn't forget Pinkie...

I love how those erasers have raritys tail as just a purple version of fluttershys! I feel so sorry for applejack, though my favorite is rainbow dash, applejack is still important!
Maybe Hasbro will replace her with bon bon, she has pink on her and candy, that's girly right?? Or maybe celestia doesn't like applejack and is out to ruin her over a bad Apple she got. "This will be worse than banishment!"
(Celestia wouldn't do that she's too nice!)

I didn't actually go to the ekka, my dad did, I was still in singapore!
But since I only started collecting this year, I didn't have a lot and all ponies are welcome in my collection. (even if the quality is kind of dodgy :/) And a few years back, my sister got a really cute Minty plush in her MLP showbag so I thought that I could get something like that. Which I did. So I guess I'm happy. They look nice on my shelf at least. Even with their squished up noses haha.
And to be honest I can kind fo see why they wouldn't mass produce RD since you know...rainbows, but AJ is like the most tame pony, why not make AppleJack?

Why would you put a brushable tail on a backpack? What child is brushing the hairs on their backpack in class? This just looks like a terrible idea.

I'm honestly surprised how much of this stuff has Rarity on it. It used to feel like it was always Rarity and AJ that got left out, not just AJ. Applejack may not be my favorite (Rarity is) but I still want to see her on merchandise! I actually won't buy anything that only includes 5 out of the 6 ponies on it...well maybe if they left off RD, but that will never happen ^^;

My favorite pony has been replace with a Disney princess... not even another pony....
Wonder if it was a knock off from china, they have a habit of mixing things up. Shrugs If looked at Engrish.com ( full of wonderful ways the Orient 'translates' or language) and they have marvel characters with D.C. ones that put together in the same packaging. It can happen.

Yes Applejack, you'll be perfectly visible in that corner.
Poor AJ, I like her as she is the only G1 pony represented, and that picture should go in another topic- what one least like about ML- the whole rainbow, sparkle , glitter, dazzle ponieness . I know she'll be replaced by a new pony crossover Rainbow Sparkle Dazzle Bright. :shocked: :devious: :rofl:
