Title: old new characters
Post by: Dludnerad on May 22, 2014, 04:12:40 PM
Finally saw some new ponies on the shelves at TRU.
They were from 2012.

Really wish they'd release some more singles of new characters.
Those big expensive 'collectors' sets haven't been available in Australia- and I really resent being forced to pay ebay prices for them.

SDCC exclusives, store exclisives, country exclusives.
Tired of being excluded.

I miss my hobby.

I really dislike the exclusives, as far as storefronts and countries, too.  Honestly, I don't think it really benefits Hasbro to only release a certain pony in a handful of countries.  Sure, those ponies end up costing more, but that comes from the secondary market of other people selling them.  I do sort of get the stores having exclusives, as the stores pay for the rights to have an exclusive pony.  I will stand by having SDCC and Fair exclusives, though, as that actually provides incentive to get collectors to the events.

G4 for new characters - no matter where you are in the world, and unless you collect blind bags/mini figs - is a pretty disappointing generation. I think at this point we really only have 5 or 6 [I could be forgetting someone] new ponies to look forward to this year [and half of them you only get if you buy an EQG doll]. However the 2 recent princesses were completely unexpected so I am going to hope that there could perhaps be some more we have not seen yet who could pop up.

Do you collect any generations other than G4?

I've lost track of latest G4 character releases.

I collect G1 and G3 more than G4.
G3 is amlost complete. Just eight more ponies to go :)

Well if you collect G1, then there are surely plenty of ponies to collect for your hobby? G1 is so large in its variety, you cant really get to the bottom of a complete collection.

I know. Just miss finding new ponies in the stores.
The focus is on blind bags and funko vinyl now.
Really wish they'd made more of the larger fashion size ponies, even if they made the wings too big. Those ones are lovely. (and their tails are attached in the right spot!)
