They're in the process of completely remastering and re-dubbing so no more horrid voice acting hopefully and completely uncut!!! so we get to get the series as it was meant to be seen as including all episodes that had been cut out due to sensitive content. they're going to release as dvd and blu ray as soon as they're able from what their twitter says. no more paying 200$+ for box sets where one season is completely in Japanese

Sailor Moon was my very first anime back when it was on television and I still love it just as much as I did back then :heart: (And I'm sorry to admit that I actually really liked the original English voices :blush:) I'm thrilled about the new series this year :)

lol i love the voices too at some points, but there's just a lot of hit and miss that was going on with the english dub like them making the scouts jerks to serena and serena a total brat at times

Do those two girls that I forget their names actually get to be a couple in the no cut version?
I remember watching that when I was younger and telling my sister they were really odd for cousins. :lol:
Anyway wooo my sister will be so excited. She's the Sailor Moon fan, so I'll probably hunt that down and buy it for her. Then watch it myself as well just since it's been so long. ;)

My mom even misses watching the show. And that says a lot considering that when I first starting watching it she thought I was going to join a cult! :lol:
I wish they would also release the original English dub on DVD just for nostalgia. It may be poorly done, but it had a lot of good qualities and great memories. When it was on tv I taped it every chance I got. I still have all those tapes, but they won't last forever.

I also love the original Serena and Ami VA's, so I'm really torn between the new voices, and the complete and true translation. Even as a child I could tell that Neptune and Uranus were in love, despite same-sex relationships having been a foreign concept to me.. I'm glad they're going back to that, covering things up just didn't work at all.
I'm also praying they don't keep the original music from the japanese dub, the english music was so much more emotive and identifiable for english-speaking audiences, I loved the Tuxedo Mask theme especially! I missed that so much in the 're-vamp' they did on S and Super S, which was basically just dubbed over the japanese version again, which ruined the continuity for me.
So I'm excited for this, but I'd also love a re-release of the S and Super S in the original english dub, because those were my favourite VA's.
Also excited for Crystal, SQUEE!!

I'm just so freaking happy about this, there's just so much that the original dubbers ruined when they got their hands on the orignal Sailor Moon, its why Toei and them refused them the rights to Stars. So so glad we're getting Stars dubbed. -flail flail flail-

YES!!!!! The music from the English dub was awesome! I have both the soundtracks that they released in the US. I would hate to lose those songs forever.

I am so excited!!! Ahhhhhhhh! Sailor Moon was also my first anime and a serious obsession for me growing up xD I still am so passionate about it! I am also one to admit I liked the original dubbing as well since it was what I grew up on xD I cannot wait!! I can't remember if they said they are going to do the movies as well? If they do I really hope they keep the English ST. X
And I am so excited for Crystal!! I just hope the style grows on me when I actually see it in action. I still don't know how I feel about it at this point x3

Wow I really hope that's true. I never did watch the English versions when I realized that they had changed the stories all around, sliced and diced a TON of animation, and made it so that Uranus and Neptune straight. So irritating.

The first four (JPN/sub) episodes are already up on Viz's site and Hulu, I am so excited!!!

Wow I really hope that's true. I never did watch the English versions when I realized that they had changed the stories all around, sliced and diced a TON of animation, and made it so that Uranus and Neptune straight. So irritating.
Not only that, but they made them "cousins", and they would never "shut up" about that in the show. xD
They also kinda goofed up on it, since I recall one particular episode when I was a kid, when Uranus and Neptune were the only same-sex pair in a "best friends" competition. Even thought I didn't know they were actually a couple in the original version, I knew something was up.

funimation i think had the rights if i remember but they're no longer producing the old series anymore due to the new license going over to Viz

I think it was Toei and Naoko's decision to completely pull the series, since Dic and Funimation kinda really butchered the show. and i'm kinda happy they're keeping it more true to the Manga

I tried to do a little googling this evening. I did find out that Dic was bought out by DHX Media in 2008. But I couldn't find Sailor Moon on DHX's site. I came across the info on Cloverway Inc, but I couldn't find an official site for them.
Could it be that Toei and Naoko don't want the original dub rereleased?

The subs are going up on Hulu at a rate of 4 episodes a week. Free to watch in the US, though I don't know if past week's episodes will go to Hulu plus. Most of the anime on there is free to watch permanently, like SNK and what not.

I saw this news a week ago and I was so excited to see it happen. I watched the first two episodes on Hulu plus the other day and so happy to hear the Japanese voices again. Can't wait for the new dub it looks to be interesting.

I'm excited to get to see the whole thing as it was meant to be, but I'm also a little sad. Yeah, DiC kind of butchered the series, but that's also the version that we all grew up with and got us to love it in the first place. I'm going to miss the music and "Serena," "Darien," and "Lita," and it makes sad that everyone seems to willing to throw away the version that made most of us love the series in the first place.
As for Neptune and Uranus as "cousins," I'm glad their relationship is no longer going to be censored, but you can't tell me that's still not the funniest (and most failed) attempted at regionalizing an anime that you've ever seen! Even though I know it wouldn't make any sense, I kind of hope it will come up, like, once, as a joke, in either the new dub or the new anime. It's just so iconically bad.

I never buy re-releases of anime (I own the old ADV DVDs of this series) but I WILL be rebuying it. And I am SO happy that Stars is finally coming over!

So anyone know if they'll be using the americanized names years ago? Or are they going to use the traditional japanese names?
EDIT: looked it up on wikipedia...they're staying true to the japanese version. Ahh well...maybe it's best to watch it anew and accurate.XD

I just watched the 2 new ones for this week- and they must have been cut completely from US TV- I've never seen them before! I had all of the later ones after R subbed, so it's so nice to see the beginning in its original form!

The DiC version I seem to remember cut every other episode (every even numbered episode?) that wasn't explicitly plot-related. At least, that was what it looked like to me, but it's been a long time since I watched it.

I actually assumed that was what they had done when I saw it, because it was too short by far for the things that happened, even before I knew that it was what actually happened.

right now I think they're just airing the subtitled versions I think they'll have the english dub up in july when they announce the final english voice actors. they said they wanted a buffer before just.. releasing since there was a lot of work left to do.

They should at least be available on DVD, if not also on blu-ray. :) i can't imagine them not releasing them on either format. They're just weekly putting up the JPN episodes online for the time being.
