Title: Pony Lookalikes
Post by: RustyGusty on May 16, 2014, 03:42:27 AM: Maybe this was discussed before, but... I thought it'd be a fun topic...

What are the two most similar looking ponies you can think of? In color, haircolor, eye color, symbol or something else?

And I'm not talking about series where they all looked pretty much alike, or variations of the same character.

I was looking through all my ponies the other day and took pictures, and found two that I thought looked familar. Nice 'n Spicy and Love Story. They have the same haircolor, same pose, almost same body color.

I challenge everyone to find a better match! If there is any. :)

(Fluttershy from strawberry reef)

Now Strawberry Reef thinks Fluttershy is based on Posey and G3 Fluttershy but I'm pretty sure Skyskimmer/Butterfly was inspiration too.

Perhaps Hasbro were inspired by earlier ponies.

I mostly know about g1 ponies. Here are some others that remind me of each other,
although I don't have all of them so I haven't seen them side by side:

Surprise and Honeycomb (always thought they were so alike, but only own Surprise)
Firefly and Bluebell
Posey and Snowdrop
Pinwheel and Hula Hula
Bonnie bonnets and Love Token

It has been confirmed several times that Lauren based Fluttershy on Posey, not just in looks but her personality is close too (though Posey wasn't really shy, that was added due to Lauren's own shyness).

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the other ponies played a part in Lauren designing Fluttershy. It's like how Rarity is based on (and replaced) Sparkler which shows in her cutie mark and gem finding vs "shiny object" collecting, but Lauren has admitted to basing her appearance on Glory.

So yeah, add that to the list - Glory and G4 Rarity.

Clever matches everyone, and it seems almost as if alot of people had already had the same thought about pony lookalikes. :)

Post by: foalpatrol on May 19, 2014, 05:51:57 PM: OK so the hair is not the same but I saw an auction recently where Shoreline was misnamed as Merriweather. The body colour is almost identical and they both have TAF style symbols. Images borrowed from MLW and both were contributed by Breyer600.

But Music Time looks even more like 7 Tales Bonbon I think, but I do not have her yet.
If I ever get her I guess they'll all be triplets ;)
