Title: Fairy Tail Perch replacement?

My mom got me 2 Fairy Tail birds in very nice condition. But they don't have their perch. :( Is there a good replacement available or can I Make my own? :)

in the past I have used big thick pencils. Fortunately the perches aren't hard to find.

Is assume anything that's cylindrical for now will do :) If you have any K'nex (please tell me you know what im referring to.  Really popular alternative to lego growing up) hanging around or can find the sticks at a VV, those might work if they are the right diameter--and look pretty at the same time ;)
