There were times I thought this pony would NEVER be finished and that she was completely cursed! Everything seemed to go wrong at least once! But finally, finally she was finished and shipped off and she finally arrived safely at her new home with sweetlittlejenny today!
So pic time! (More on my DeviantArt)

Base was Valenshy, wings created using a polymer clay feather cane over a wire mesh armature, pony was airbrushed using Createx iridescent paints, detail painting done with acrylics and rehairing done with brushed out acrylic yarn.
Here's a WIP pic to give a better idea of the wing construction:

I'm pretty happy with how she turned out - I love her colors and her hair is just amazing in person. She has multiple issues unfortunately, even as a finished pony. She was resting in the oven to cool after her final bake and my hubby turned the oven on to 400 to cook a pizza. :faint: I happened to be nearby and managed to save her as soon as I smelled the plastic scorching. She had a sunburn on her butt and lower legs and her front legs had just started to sag. I pulled her out and propped her up to cool and was able to save her, but she's got a permanent tilt to one side and the tilt caused the end of one wing to separate slightly so you can see the wire from a low angle and her neck warped enough that there isn't a smooth join between the neck and the head. Fortunately, the puffy hair hides most of the warping so it isn't immediately obvious. At that point it was far too late to start over, so hopefully sweetlittlejenny doesn't mind her flaws! :)

She is really gorgeous- I LOVE her wings and her colors are fantastic!

I love her!!!
Did you make the feather cane? I've just started to look into doing things with polymer clay and not sure I'd have the patience for canes.
It never even crossed my mind to do wings that way. They are truly unique.
One of my favorite G3 poses, many of my favorite colors. And the crystal is beautiful and sparkly too. She's gorgeous!
I've never seen that type of hair in person but I always thought it looked pretty. Today when I got my pony I got to see just how pretty that hair technique is and that it is oh so soft. Love it!
Thank you so much for such a beautiful and unique pony!
P.S. I didn't even notice that bit of cane in the pic. If you made it yourself I am much impressed. It's neat to see the product of one in person.

Thank you so much everyone!
Yes the wings are made from a polymer clay cane that I made myself from scratch...here's a quick pic that I just took of some of the leftover cane slices and the end of the cane:

If you ever want to give it a try, this is a great tutorial: http://dorasexplorations.wordpress.com/2008/10/26/cane-of-the-week-featherleaf-cane/ (http://dorasexplorations.wordpress.com/2008/10/26/cane-of-the-week-featherleaf-cane/)
It does take a bit of time and patience, but seeing seeing the colors blend together and the cane come together is mesmerizing and intensely satisfying. :D
I give all credit for the poufy hair to the yarn hair tutorial that was posted here on the Arena...the resulting hair is soo incredibly soft and squishy!

Thank you so much! I really can't get over how soft the hair is when it's done that way. You just want to snuggle it. :D

The wings you made are so awesome! I love seeing "outside the box" wings in new styles. I also really love the perfume-puff type hair. This is exactly why I always hesitate to say I don't like something on a custom because then I see it done so well and perfectly and I know that any other type of hair would not have looked as nice on this custom. Well done!
