I've gotten it into my head that I want to do more ponies that have clothes, either sewn or sculpted, and since I found I can get scraps of fabric rather cheaply, I decided to do some geisha-themed ponies. Sakae is the first one to be completed.

She started off as a Fashion Size Pinkie Pie and was airbrushed a pretty blue shade. I sponged white around her face, then used pastels to apply very subtle red eye shadow (in addition to the painted eyelids she has) and blush. She also has tiny red lips.

Her kimono is hand-sewn from a pattern that I made up, and her obi is a royal blue satin ribbon. Neither piece is removable. I had initially considered using a fabric stiffener to give the kimono a sculpted" look, but have no treated this one at this time. Aside from two spots of hot glue (one holding the collar closed, the other holding her obi's bow in place), this is entirely sewn by hand while watching four hours of a "My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding" marathon.

Her hair is a blend of DH's Black Magic and Brilliant Black, so while it's shiny, it's not overly so. There's about 1.5 hanks of hair in her mane and tail. Sakae has a modified forelock hairline, which has been twisted up and pinned with pearl pins, and accented with hand-sculpted roses.
She's for sale; I'm asking $65, which includes shipping in the US (outside the US, I can give you a quote with shipping if you're interested!)
