Title: Disney Magical World discussion (3DS game)
Post by: Sarah Jo on April 15, 2014, 08:06:37 AM
We have Pokemon and Animal Crossing threads, and I know Disney is a hot topic around here.. so I thought I'd make this thread. :)

So - let's talk ! Who's got the game, and how are you enjoying it so far ?

Here's links to some AR cards you can scan in for SO MANY new things. :D

I'm gonna keep an eye on this thread... I really, really want to hear about this game, even if it's still without a release date over here!

Disney really isn't my thing so I doubt I'll be getting it.

It's really awesome ! I bought it on release day so this is my 5th day of playing. The food and clothes you can make are endlessly cute. If you have any questions, I'll try my best to answer ! :)

I only have a couple small naysays, and one bigger one. Compared to Animal Crossing - the music seems so short (before it loops) and just not very special. And the graphics look so pixelly at times. I really feel like New Leaf looks so much smoother and prettier.. Might just be me, though ? My big naysay is the lack of Lion King and Tangled - mostly Lion King, because that would've added some really cool variety. (more animal characters and an African theme)

I am really liking the game so far. I haven't gotten to play as much as some have but I do like it. I think in the long run it will end up being one of my favorite 3DS games released in the States. I couldn't believe it when it was announced it was going to be released into English. I thought it would never make it to our shores.

I am hoping to get more play time in tonight.

Oh, and I know a lot of people compare it to Animal Crossing. While it does have some traits of Animal Crossing (real time, clothing, collecting items, some customization, villagers, etc), I think it's more of a Disney-like Rune Factory game, if you want the truth.  Which is definitely good by me, because I love that series.

I too was surprised and disappointed at the lack of Lion King. It would have made a really awesome world! The African theme would have been awesome.

Thank you for that! It's such a shame about the lack of Lion King though - Since they've pretty much ignored it in Disney Infinity (minus a Pride Rock decoration), I was hoping they'd include it here :(

Are there any traces of other classic Disney movies? Oliver and Company, Aristocats, Fox & the Hound, Pinocchio, etc.?

I really wish Nintendo would drop the region blocking on their consoles. Right now all I can do is hope they release it over here.

The region blocking was a horrible choice. I miss being able to import games, and I feel for those of you who want DMW and can't get it. :(

I'd totally import the two Bella Sara games from Europe if there wasn't a region block. I want them SO BAD.

Glad I'm not the only one sore about no Lion King ! I also agree that while it has some small similarities to Animal Crossing, it's definitely not AC Disney-fied.

One of the AR cards in the links I posted gives you a Marie and Pinnochio outfit ! And in Japan they have a Marie-themed download content pack - it has better make it over here. I'm sure it will since some of the content already has been released ! Aristocats is one of my favorite Disney movies ! Nothing for any of the other ones you listed, though

Here's a link to the download content released in Japan if anyone's curious !
http://magic-castle-mhl.namco-ch.net/dlc/dlc.html

So far the major characters, the ones you can interact with, that I know of are these.. (under spoiler tag in case it bothers anyone)

Spoiler
Aladdin, Jasmine, Abu, Carpet, Genie
Alice, Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, The March Hare
Cinderella, Prince, Fairy Godmother
Pooh, Rabbit, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Owl
Chip 'n Dale
Donald and Daisy Duck
Scrooge McDuck
Huey, Dewey, Louie
Pete
Goofy
Mickey and Minnie
Pluto
Lilo and Stitch
Jack Sparrow (assuming the download pack makes it here)
Marie (I think she joins the game, I'm really not sure, and again - assuming it's released here)

Aw man, that's a shame too :(
Region locking wouldn't bother me so much if there weren't so many country-exclusive games out there. I once read an article on why Nintendo were sticking so firmly with region locking, but everything they said in it... Didn't really make much sense. Although I basically translated it as 'We want to make sure you (UK/EU/AUS/etc.) don't get games cheaper'.

The character I've left in the spoiler tag is reason enough for me to want this game badly now D:

And thanks for the info and that link. Some of that DLC is just amazing! Here's hoping the US do some great DLC too (Lion King, please?). I know Japan are obsessed with Marie and not so much TLK. I really will be bitterly disappointed if they don't bring this to Europe, though.

I just purchased the downloadable content. It's nice to find a game for once that I feel the investment is worth it. The items are super cute!

So I played some more tonight. It sucked me in for a while. Sadly, bed time is coming upon me, and my 3DS needed a charging.

Actually, there is so much to do in the game that I am starting to get a bit overwhelmed, but in a good way! I don't know what to do first. Not like there is a time constraint or anything. This game will last a while, and that is good. I need a game like that. The next game I really want doesn't come out until June.....Tomodachi Life. I have a feeling that's gonna be another winner.

I hope it comes to Europe too.. I think it'd be really stupid and unfair if it doesn't. :(

I get overwhelmed too ! I usually have 5 things going on at once.  "And now I gotta do this *runs across Castleton* and now that ! *runs back across Castleton*". Heh.

Tomadachi Life !! Can't wait ! That's the one I'm super amazed we're getting.

I ordered it on Amazon and got it a few days ago.  Yesterday was the first day I put in several hours of gameplay, and I have to say that I really like it so far!  Thanks for the AR links, I'll be looking at those as soon as I get home.

I just like that there are so MANY different things to do.  I'm loving it so far.

And here I thought I would be the only adult playing this game, lol! I like it so far, but frustrated because I always seem limited to what I can do. Sure, I have a dozen quests to complete-- but I'm not at a high enough level to access them, and good luck trying to find a task I can finish in order to level up! And I have all these awesome outfit recipes (Peter Pan!!!) but I can't yet access the items I need to make them :(

But hey aside from that, it's pretty fun

You're very welcome ! Glad we're getting more players talking here. :D I know what you mean - I'm usually trying to juggle around 4 things at once in this game. But it's so fun !

I picked up the game over the weekend and just got started playing it yesterday afternoon.... I'm already at 28 stickers and mostly forgot to sleep last night XD I really like the style of the game. it reminds me of a mix between Kingdom Hearts and Animal Crossing.

Has anybody tried visiting other peoples cafes yet?

I got my wifi to connect yesterday afternoon. After I downloaded all the items (including the two you have to pay for) I went to see if anybody on my friends list had a cafe. Only one person did. When I visited them the game told me that I can win free stuff by visiting other peoples cafes. Since I didn't have any other friends I used the random button to visit other people. I went to 20 different cafes and received at least 4 or 5 full outfits for free!

You get outfits up to.. it's either 65 or 75 or so, I forget. I have one more left to get. I wasn't that impressed with them, but the completitionist in me wants them ! Heh. It's a nice feature for sure, but none of them were really up my alley. I wish they were more character-based. I'm dying to get the rest of the Marie and Pooh-themed clothing !

I got a couple Arabian outfits. Aladdin is one of my top favorite Disney movies (along with The Lion King and Lilo & Stitch) so I'm after all the Aladdin themed stuff. I like these better than the Aladdin themed quest outfits. The Royal Gard's outfit looks like its right out of the movie.

And I'm itching to get my hands on that Stitch costume.

Oh, I loved the Aladdin ones ! It's in my top 5 Disney movies as well. :) And a handful of the other gifts were nice, but then you hit a whole slew of the same two dresses (that I don't like much) in a variety of colors.. and each color is a "new" gift. Made it pretty tedious for me..

I'm pretty sure I'm done with that now, and as far as I can tell the cap is at 75 thumbs up. The last gift is pretty cute !

I have a gift on my bed but I can't collect it. Anybody else had this problem?

What flowers do I need to plant to get normal honey? I have lot of the special honey like Rosy Honey, but very little regular honey.

I assume you mean the Noble Girls' Dress. I have a few of those. (Green, blue, pink, orange and light green) I like that dress. It's pretty. It's the peasant style clothes that have me scratching my head.

I've always been able to get my daily gift, that's really odd.. :(

I have fluffy dandelions planted right now and I get 3 normal and 3 golden honeys each time I harvest. Sunny daisy gave me the same, I believe, just rosy instead of gold.

Yeah.. that one and the bolero and the noble woman's dress. Comes to 15 in all in the end, and that was just way too tedious for my liking when it's 3 cafe visits per gift. 'Course I didn't have to do almost all of it in one session.. but I wanted to get it all out of the way and get back to the main game.

I just ran in to that exact same place last night and had a terrible time getting by them. If you are still stuck, there is a switch in the shape of a heart (I think it is a heart) up in the last, highest area to your left. I think it was in the bottom right corner of the 'square' behind a tree (I hope I am remembering all that correctly). Good luck!

Not much sticker lull for me.. I'm at 72 and haven't been playing much for a few days. The person I play with most isn't too far behind. We both just keep doing a little of everything. Fishing, farming, questing, clothes making/wearing, furniture constructing, party-throwing, shopping, card collecting/trading.

Anyone else get the new Pirates dlc that released today ? Totally worth $4 for me, and I've only talked to Jack and not done anything else. That Jack Sparrow swagger ! :D

No tips for Guiltea, unfortunately. I just beat that episode today - the one I did after that was SO stressful. So many aggressive enemies.

Did that just come out today? I just happened to go into the downloadable content today while I was connected to the wifi. I did get the new free stuff and the wands, but I'm unsure about the Pirates set. I've never been a big POTC fan. It would be easier if I could see what I was getting. Yep, today ! You can see the items from the download content menu, it's either y or the left and right shoulder buttons. Also lists there what all is in it. 14 episodes, food, wands, furniture, clothing, Jack, etc. :)

I downloaded the Pirates set. I haven't had time to actually PLAY it at all (aside from just watching the intro thing with Jack) but it was almost worth the $4 just for that. But then again, I'm a huge PotC fan. Not sure about the wands though...I have all the other paid DLC, but $1 for a single wand doesn't really seem worth it. (Not that it's a huge amount....maybe it's just the principle I have trouble with?) Plus, going out and paying real money to buy a 5-star wand seems to kind of defeat the purpose of earning and collecting the items to upgrade the default wands. But maybe that's just me.

Im at 63 stickers and still don't have my Peter Pan outfit because none of my little villagers wantsto trade and favors for Handkerchiefs of Bravery :P

I saw the list, but I didn't see any pictures of the items.

Has anybody had their game lock up on them? Friday night I was trying to get the last item I needed to make Prince Phillip's boots. I was redoing a quest in Cinderella's world trying to find the item.  I was at one of those points where you have to zap all the red orbs before time runs out while avoiding ghosts. I was low on health, but had plenty of red gems to revive myself with. Just as I zapped the last red orb a ghost got me and knocked me out. But instead of letting me revive the game froze up one me. I had to turn my 3DS off and turn it back on. I lost a couple hours of work and about 50,000 coins. Now I've been saving my game before I start a quest.

Left and right shoulder buttons scroll through the visual previews ! :) I've only had the game lock up for a few seconds or so, but I've seen others have more severe issues with the game freezing like yourself.

Up to 77 stickers now. Having problems with it taking awhile to get the rare items I need from doing favors for people. You can reset until you get the quests and shop items you want, but.. that gets old really quick for me.

Still having a lot of fun with this - such an adorable time filler !

Ok, I found the pictures. I might get it..... Does it unlock a new world? Because that's what the pictures look like.

What are the "severe issues" that other people are having? What do I need to be on the look out for? Is there somewhere I can report problems?

I think I'm at 79 stickers now.

Where it locks up and they lose their progress like you did. Being sure to save often is probably the only safeguard, and no idea about reporting it.. I believe there's an official site, or you could try contacting Nintendo directly, I suppose.

Yep, there's 14 episodes in Tortuga. :)

Ok, this is silly, but I'm having trouble with the cafe request where you have to dress the manager and the helper in matching outfits. I've dressed them in outfits that go together (Hawaiian outfit/Stitch and Phillip/Aurora, etc) and in different gender versions of the same outfit (male peasant/female peasant outfits, etc) but it still doesn't clear the quest. What am I missing?

Ok, this is silly, but I'm having trouble with the cafe request where you have to dress the manager and the helper in matching outfits. I've dressed them in outfits that go together (Hawaiian outfit/Stitch and Phillip/Aurora, etc) and in different gender versions of the same outfit (male peasant/female peasant outfits, etc) but it still doesn't clear the quest. What am I missing?

Are the outfits complete? If you don't have the right shoes I don't think it counts. Also, for the "Hawaiian outfit/Stitch" combo that you tried.... Did you pair Lilo's dress with the Stitch costume? Or did you pair Stitch with one of the outfits from the tropical Mickey theme? Because the outfits have to be from the same theme.

I got my own quick question. Where do I get the Big Sunflower or a seed for it? I want to make the Pooh costume, but I'm missing the sunflower.

By matching outfits do they perhaps mean exactly the same ? Such as 2 Stylish Pooh outfits, for example ?

You have to get sunflower seeds from a chain, it goes like this -

Red Rose - White Rose - Black Rose - Royal Rose - Mysterious Seed (sunflower)

You can start with white roses if you have the seeds. Each flower gives you the next seed you need in the chain. Good luck ! :)

You are brilliant! I had kind of forgotten that you could make more than one of each outfit, haha. I knew it would be something simple like that. Thanks!

I finally got around to buying the game yesterday! I've been having a ton of fun with it in my spare time! Thanks for the AR links. I wasn't sure I was going to like this type of game but I'm glad I got it.

I just bought the POTC expansion download. So far all I've done is a bit of fishing.

I'm still playing. I finally got some of those dang sunflower seeds. Those things are hard to get! I'm up to 97 stickers.

I need to throw a party with some secret combos. How do I do that?

I've got 80 stickers. It's been taking a major backseat as it is now ren faire and convention season for me. :D Plus like DazzleKitty said - TOMODACHI LIFE comes out tomorrow ! Yessss !!! (I'm not overly excited.. nope)

SailorStitch - I'm sorry but I've never thrown one of those parties either, or I'd gladly give you the info !

True - Yeah, those are just item/ingredients.. I guess they got lazy and didn't want to come up with art for all those (really really cool sounding) items.

sailorstitch, they are parties where you use the more expensive wallpaper/floor combos, table/chair combos, and rarer food combos. You can get the wallpaper/floor/furniture from Chip & Dale and the food by doing favors or leveling up your cafe.

I'm at 99 stickers. But the last one I need is the 3 star ballroom one. D:

I have. It's cute but it's so sickeningly pink. Not sure how worth it it was, but I like Marie so it's fun having her show up around my town now.

Who's collecting the Halloween goodies!?!

And I got a question. Is there a way to transfer my photo album pictures to my computer? Are they saved on my SD card somewhere and I'm just not finding them?
