So what is an Alternate Rehair Swap?
It's the swapping of G1 ponies that have been given new colored hair, that you rehaired yourself. :biggrin:

:heart: To Join:
you must have been an arena member for 6 months,
have a minimum of 300 posts and 10 positive arena feedback,
and show 3 examples of previous rehair work.
that's it!

:rainbow: The Rules:
This is a G1 only swap!
This is NOT a full custom swap; don't do a full body repaint, or make a new pony or anything. However, you are allowed to re-do eye and symbol colors for the sake of matching the new hair.
No restores to original hair color(s), get creative!
Hair must be doll quality material; do not use wigs or hair accessories as a source
May be rehaired with yarn as a 'perfume puff' style
Ponies may be flawed, but nothing substantial. An acceptable flaw list will be provided.
Rehair must be done neat, and hair glued in.
Must be willing to ship internationally
secret word is Paddlefish
must be able to meet deadlines and finish on time.
Progress check ins are required see dates- pm me when your hair and baits have been purchased and post in thread updates.

You will rehair either 3 adult ponies, or 2 adult and 2 babies (TOTAL no more than 4 finished rehairs in the box)
-Required Extras: 1 rehair bait condition pony + 1 hank of unused hair (from DH, MLC, RDUS/RDUK, etc etc etc) or 2 hanks of unused hair.
-Optional Extras: If you want to include additional extra items for your partner, no more than $5 in value

How do people feel about deflocked so softs as a bait?
Where do you prefer to have the rh marked? I know some prefer bottom of foot and others like the neck seam, or being that these are not going to be rehaired to factory color do we mark?

I guess it depends.... Do you choose what ponies you want rehaired or do you just get a rehaired pony? Depending on that and the price of the pony could impact the cost of the extras.

Do you want this to be a PRIMARILY G1 alternate rehair swap or should we allow each participant to specify which generations they prefer the best?
G1s tend to run more that the other gals and with how common g4s are right now you could always break it into a g1 and others swap. People could sign up for both if they wanted but have g4s and g1s... I dunno it makes sense in my head but I don't know how to type it out...

How do you feel about adding in some "other items" that are "requirements" such as 1 bait pony and 1 hank of hair on top of the rehairs and potential other extras?
I love this idea. It enforces the "this is a REHAIR swap" I think it should be included!

I'm thinking at least a dozen participants would be a good number, and since it's my first time probably no more than 15-18-ish people? How does that number sound?
I think it sounds great! Its not an overwhelming number of people but still enough for a drool worthy brag post!

Anything else you'd like to add for this next round?
Once again I'd like to see the last one's rules and such. For example if I enter do I put ponies I would like to get rehaired, or does my partner just send me any pony they rehair? What's to keep people from just sending a pony they rehaired and planned to sell anyways, or requesting something crazy like "I only want Mimic and Rapunzel rehairs."? I can see problems/questions with both so I wanted to clear it up!

I myself adore rehairs and would love to do a swap like this!

What about doing two ponies. One from your partner's list and one random one? For the second pony include a list on the questionnaire which generation you like or dislike and any specific poses you like or dislike and maybe hair colors you like or dislike.

I'd prefer if we stuck to G1. Or that I was paired to prepare a box for someone only wanted G1. My rehairing method may not work with the harder plastics of G2, G3, and G4. I've also never have popped heads on those ponies. . . << >>

I'd be happy to receive G2 ponies though.

I think a $20-$30 on the ponies and rehairing supplies. And I like the idea of including a hank of hair and a bait pony. Maybe that included in the pony price, and then $10 or so for extras?

I'd be happy to have the swap with a rough wishlist of sorts. Maybe a bit of a / sort of a custom rehair army swap. . . but not quite? I wouldn't like a random swap where my partner just did whatever. I don't collect G3's, and I'm extremely fussy on G4's to the point I have one. Yet I have a rather large list of ponies I'd like to have in rehairs as I've either already have them, or I just love certain ones with lots of different styles of hair. :)

i like the idea of bait and hair as extras, and maybe having other extras being optional, as money can be tight. and as always, im a fan of extra rehairs in leu of regular extras, as i usually have stuff on hand to do more than the one or two required ponies.

im also pretty much only into G1s for rehairs. i can appreciate some G3s but just don't really have the urge to collect them. pretty much the same story for G4s.

Hopefully I can answer some of these:

-Yes we usually have an "extras" budget for like nonpony items, candy, stickers, whatever your partner might like that's like... usually around $5 in extras? But perhaps if we want to say, Bait + hair + one other fun item (candy, sticker, cheap... thing, :lol:) that probably would come out around $5 - would $10 in extras (if it included the bait cost and hair hank cost) be too much?

-If we do like 2-3 adult ponies, let's say an expensive bait is about $6 each... so that's just under $20 in ponies. Three hanks of hair are $9... are we pushing the limit there? I know I personally find most baits for around $1-2 but if I have to find something specific sometimes I'm willing to pay out more...

-Time limit and old rules - I will dig up the info from the last Rehair Swap and look them over and share them here, so we can see if that time line and rules work for us again

-Rehair method - I believe in the last swap we required the hair get glued in, even if you were using the knot method, for security purposes?

-Also, we were able to use any type of hair, yarn, nylon, poly, etc etc etc - just whatever your partners personal preferences are.

-Last time we did... I believe 2 adult ponies or 1 adult and 2 babies. I personally would like to open this up more... Maybe 3 adults, or 1 adult = 2 babies, so up to 4 babies with 1 adult (or 2 adults and 2 babies, if that makes sense)? It would be based on preferences from your partner, but we kept the number strict enough that we wouldn't see packages where someone was getting 14 rehairs and another only got the required 2, so we want to keep that pretty level so we all get the same basic number of rehairs... We also kept the adult aspect but we could open it up for all babies if your partner wanted maybe? Also like Brothers, SHS, those were "adults", flutters and wingers were "babies?" I believe? We can talk about that as well...

-Usually it works like we asks some general broad questions about what "groups" of ponies you like the best (like Rainbow or TAF or SHS, etc) and then what specific ponies you might have armies of, or who are your "favorites" or poses that you like... and then also colors that you like. This can give your partner a general idea of your taste. Of course this does need to be tailored to our budget, so, listing like... Mimic and Nightglider as your favorites... well I doubt many people have those gals as baits or can find them cheap enough, etc. But if you say, "I like Crumpet Pose" - then that opens the door to many crumpet pose ponies.

-I will do a bit more research and repost some of the info from our last swap, and I also need to start talking to a mod about this, I think we have a healthy interest!
As far as the requirements to participate, that I will have to ask a mod about for advice as well - so I will definitely keep this posted.

Anything else you guys can think of? :biggrin: I'm getting pretty excited!

and i believe one of the old ones had a note that you could alter symbols if you like, like colorwise, but no straight up customs. just to make the new hair colors match if you wanted to. =]

Well, price isn't really the issue for the baits themselves - some people have those baits on hand and are ready and willing to use them for a swap... Like, no one is going to be required to buy an expensive winger bait ya know? And you can find deals from time to time, like I've picked one up at Goodwill for $0.50, so, if you're generous and wanted to use it for the swap, etc. I just don't think any groups should be completely ruled out because you never know what you might find a deal on! :lol:

so they can fill an "adult" space if we want to say they're "adults", but just because you put wingers on your list, the lists won't be so restrictive that you will have a partner who will only be asking for "expensive winger baits" or anything like that ;) So, either way, we can definitely clarify which "in between" ponies fit into which categories when we do sign ups :biggrin: And it will be important for people to tailor their list to the price of the swap for the baits and groups that they like, etc - it's probably not really a good idea if someone joins the swap and only is interested in say, Year 3 Adult Sea Ponies or something like that because those are expensive... etc, ya know? :)

And yes of course - we said last time we can do any kind of hair, we will have a question when we do sign ups about what kind of hair you like or dislike - some people love yarn, some people hate tinsel, etc etc etc - so we will make sure to cover that in our preferences questions! :biggrin: Oh but I do believe that we had a requirement that the doll-nylon type hair was actually like... real quality hair, not like from the cheap dollar store inserts you can buy because that hair is very low quality...

I only rehair G1s and wouldn't feel confident in working on a different generation pony honestly. I do keep meaning to try it, but would prefer to try it first before doing it for a swap partner.

I also do rehairing with a needle/thread with knots. I don't use glue so that would be an issue for me. I've never had ponies with hair coming out knots are far more secure than glue if it's done right. :huh:

I'll wait and see how the list of requirements turn out before I say for sure I'm joining in.

None of the rules are meant to make anyone feel like the way they do something isn't "good enough" - and Maddie it probably won't be hard to have a G1 based partner, most of the people who rehair are focused on G1s (or G4s) - and since it's going to be a decently small group I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to ask "which generation do you prefer to rehair?" in our sign up list, making partnering a bit easier perhaps? :) OR if we keep these rules, we can make it a G1 only swap.

I do just want to mention I sent in some potential dates and requirements to one of the customs mods here, to put this on their radar. Before I make an actual sign-up post, I'd love to hear how you guys feel about the rules from last time, if you'd change them, if you want to make it a 3 pony swap... keep it a G1 only swap... add in the "required" extra of 1 bait and 1 hank of hair?

(tho I can think of a few G1s id LOVE to get my mitts on bait-wise, so this is just an idea really lol)

3 pony swap or even the two pony (with the two-fer-baby rule) sounds good to me.

I didn't join the others since I was busy at those times and never looked at the rules once they were set up. That's fine though, don't worry about the generation thing at least in my part. But all I meant was that I think it was just put in to sort of standardize everything? :biggrin:

And as mentioned, the rules aren't set in stone, those are from the last swap so they can be modified. If everyone who uses the knot method is really feverish about not needing glue, who am I personally to say nay? Perhaps I can ask the mod their opinion on that particular rule?

For now I'm thinking we can keep the rules as is, with a preference of some sign up questions that might ask about "other potential generations you might be interested in?" - and since this isn't really a wishlist swap and will probably be a G1 focused, you won't be required to rehair anything BUT G1s, unless your partner has a preference AND YOU CHOOSE to do that. And of course a pony from another generation would fill one of the slots for the ponies.

I'm still a bit worried about cost - do you guys think finding 3 baits, and buying 5 (let's just say, one for each rehair and 2 for the extras) is too costly? Do you still want a small OTHER Extra budget on top of that, like $5?

I don't think that's a bad idea at all either! I think we had some questions asked during the swap by the participants about what kind of extras each person preferred. Some did say rehairing supplies, I believe I had "decorative packing tape" on my list and got some, which has been really helpful, lol - and of course some people listed stickers, candy, tea, etc...

And I do like the idea of... additional extras on top of the hair/baits being "optional but no more than $5 in value" - how does that sound to everyone?

May be rehaired with yarn as a 'perfume puff' style
Ponies may be flawed, but nothing substantial. An acceptable flaw list will be provided.

must be able to meet deadlines and finish on time.
Progress check ins are required see dates- pm me when your hair and baits have been purchased and post in thread updates.

What will the boxes include?
You will rehair either 3 adult ponies, or 2 adult and 2 babies. (I think we should keep it close to max number of rehairs in the box being 3-4 for everyone so we're all getting close to the same number.)
-Required Extras: 1 rehair bait condition pony + 1 hank of unused hair (from DH, MLC, RDUS/RDUK, etc etc etc) or 2 hanks of unused hair.

If people are alright with that I can start working on an actual sign up page to send to the mod to get approval. Dates should be close to as long as the last one, I think we had about 2 months. I was thinking if we started around the beginning of April, shipping would end up being around the beginning of June. :biggrin:

Again, I'm still flying blind as a host so I'm taking almost all of this from our last swap, so please express opinions on anything - or any of the rules posted, etc. :)

OH and another note: I know that we have had exceptions to the requirements list before (like you're a 5 month member... or you only have 250 posts or something), so if you don't happen to meet those and still want to participate we can definitely chat about that, don't let that be the thing that stops you from wanting to participate. Those kinds of things can be discussed as well with our mod once we get set up and start doing sign ups.

Not necessarily, I can talk to our moderator once I get the go-ahead about any one who potentially doesn't meet those requirements, I know that sometimes people don't have all the feedback here at the Arena, or maybe are a few posts shy or a little bit of time shy of 6 months, etc. So I will make sure to talk to the mod about it ;)

I really like this idea, I am always loosing zip ties! As for the g1 only rule, did we decide its g1 only? I know there was mention of opening it to all generations did that not go through? I think I might have trouble finding 3-4 g1 baits....

So take a breath of relief! :lol:

So - the lists and the questions on the sign up sheet are to help your partner sort of "get to know your taste" BUT BUT BUT - Just because you say "Big Brothers are my favorite" - that does NOT mean that your partner needs to hunt down a Big Brother bait. Your partner MAY focus their rehairs on the COLORS you like, or POSES you like, it may not be specifically ponies that you list out. I know we all try to do our best to make our partners as happy as possible, but as many of us love Big Brothers or Wingers (specifically I can think of those two groups as being more expensive for baits) - please just because you listed them - it does not mean you will absolutely 100% get one of those ponies. So, if you do sign up, the more options you can list out, the easier it will be for all of our partners to find baits and all of that.

I don't want anyone to feel like they wouldn't be able to find baits or whatnot - if that's an issue and you still want to sign up, I'm sure we can chat about it in PMs if you want to.

Also, just from last time, while it seems like it's not a lot of time, the 2 month period went by very slowly for many of us, I know that some people were done with their ponies in the first week because they already had baits, and we had almost everyone shipping earlier than the proposed shipping date. I understand how hectic real life can be, and of course I have no idea what is going on in everyone's lives, but I did just want to put it out there that we had pretty good success with the timeline last time. Gathering baits was really the biggest thing that held everyone up so, you're not alone in wondering or "worrying" if you'd be able to find baits for your partner. :biggrin:

I sent another PM to our mod - who is Kaoskat, btw - before I start adding any approvals to the first list, just so I don't do anything wrong this first time around, hahah so, I will update this as soon as possible and the first post with the sign ups ASAP! So for anyone who has sent an application in - I have gotten it, but just making sure I'm following all the "rules" for being a host, haha :lol:

I totally gotcha where you're coming from - so all of the questions on the first page are like.. "preferences" - they're not like the RULES of your partner? If that makes sense? So, that's why we have the LIKE and DISLIKE for colors, so if you say, "I like yellow and blue, I dislike black and purple" - then, most of what you can take away from that is a trend of... okay, bright mixes maybe including yellow, or blue, or both would be something your partner would prefer... and of course, you would try to stay away from blacks or purples in your rehairs for that person. So, just like the pony questions about sets and colors and poses - it's more like those colors are your choice favs.

If we do have an issue where someone says "I ONLY LIKE THIS ONE COLOR", I may have to ask them to expand or potentially "explain" that like "I only like pink" - okay, do you like all shades of pink? What about reds then? Or Purples? Or ONLY pinks? And if we have a case like that we can definitely work through it.
*The more options you give your partner, the easier this swap will be for everyone! :biggrin:*

I don't think we had an issue with any really restrictive colors from partners last time(?), I know many of us "trust our partners eye" to match some nice colors to ponies or usually just list something like, "I really like all colors, I don't really dislike any particular color". But, again, if we do end up with someone concerned either about low... color choice variety, or not many ponies to "choose from" (and I say "choose from" just because usually the first ponies you go after to see if you can find for your partner are ones they specifically listed out, etc. but again - it's NOT 100% that you'll end up with a pony that you specifically listed by name) that your partner likes, I can talk to you both (through private PMs, so you won't be talking to one another) and try to make everything go as smoothly as possible. :)

And there are cases where people say, "My favorite color is brown" - which might be a hard color to place on many ponies, or maybe a lot of us tend to order mostly "fantasy" colors versus "natural" colors - I think it's important to note when filling out your forms that your partner may prefer non-fantasy colors! Which can be fun to experiment with, but if anyone ever needs any clarification on anything once we get partners sent out, you can just PM me and I will do all I can to make it a smooth swap for everyone!

I know it can be tough to find specific ponies for a swap, let alone specific ponies in poor shape for a rehair swap, and additionally making sure you have colors your partner likes. I don't want it to feel like a big burden where you might get "trapped" feeling like you won't be able to find anything for your partner, so, I am here to help in any way I can, as best I can!! :)

One more thing, even though this isn't a WISHLIST (aka your partners list) swap - PLEASE try to stay on what your partner likes. I think I'm actually going to add a question to our signs ups (and will PM the people who have sent in apps specifically so I can add their answer) about which ponies/groups/poses you DISLIKE as well. Sound okay? :biggrin:

Post by: Sunshine on March 28, 2014, 02:22:49 PM: I feel the same way Mikeys, I personally tend to buy like... only fantasy colors (except white? black?) but lately have been really trying to find new ways to incorporate colors like browns and grays, things that might not be "normal" on the fantasy background of the MLP body. There are so many wonderful ways to use and combine colors, I think this swap is fantastic because each rehairer has a different color eye and style and we get to see how lovely they all are here!

I personally am the type of rehairer who will say (so, whoever my partner ends up being, be prepared for this) - I like all colors, I trust your eye to make a cool rehair matching the bait you choose to colors. Because I like to have the person making it for me have a bit of say in what they create as well.

I know once we get going with partners assigned and everything that people ask A LOT of follow up questions... a lot more specific things like:
-How do you feel about tinsel/fizz?
-Do you prefer solid colored rehairs or multi-color?
-Do you prefer stripes over blends?

etc etc etc - so again just if anyone is worried that the short list of questions at the front may make things seem very "restrictive" (potentially), once we get moving we should have a lot more questions (and I have a list I can post as well once we're all partnered up) that make it easier for everyone to get to know their partner and their partners tastes.

One other thing that I think was helpful is in other swaps (not this one in particular) - members of the swap would post a photo of their collection of whatever it was, so here - like, if you had a picture of your display where you have rehairs, maybe people can get an idea of what you gravitate towards in that fashion? So that's just another idea to think about as we move down the line here! :biggrin:

because rehairing has become so popular, it's becoming more difficult to find suitable baits for rehairing LOL
I have recently acquired some rehair baits, so I'm probably fine, but it's a legitimate concern.
I don't want anyone cutting off a full mane from a pony with "issues" (I'd like to trust that people are only using ponies with BAD haircuts or NO hair, but I've seen people fully customize MINT ponies before ...) :huh:
I'm picky about baiting G1s, which is why I love rehairing b/c it gives new life without fully customizing, so I'm just voicing my secret fear :unsure:

I'd also like the final word on if flutters and wingers are adults or babies :)

I understand about being picky about baits. My bait bin is a SAD lot of ponies... but I'm becoming er... more aware of the issue of people baiting "pretty decent" ponies just to rehair them.

I hope this swap doesn't make you feel like that will happen due to increased temporary bait demand? :lol: There's also a stretch of time to shop and whatnot so, while there may be a rush when we first get partners, usually demand dies down within a few weeks... :biggrin:

Yes perfume (BPAL), but I try not to wear it when working on ponies, especially the rehairing stage
*edit to add that none of my ponies or customs end up smelling like perfume in any way

Deflocks ok? Yes, especially if they don't have a NSS version. Also ok with still flocked. Also, I didn't add them to my wishlist as they are HTF as baits, but deflocked Twilight or Twist as rehair or bait would be awesome too.

marking the rehair - I mark mine on the bottom of a hoof. I prefer you do that over a neck seam so I can see easily who did it, but regardless of where, please mark it!

Extras? socks! I especially love sockdreams.com No ankle socks! I always like finding a pair of good, WARM socks.

I'm like a little kid at Christmas, I'm not terribly picky! Hair is great, I have a handful of baits I'm wanting to rehair. I'm trying to lose weight, so probably not so much on sweets, but a little chocolate would be ok :) I would absolutely love some sort of postcard or picture from something that is from your area.

I'm ok with ones to fill in gaps between plugs or to bring the hairline up a bit, I'm not a huge fan of widow peaks or bangs on non customized ponies.

I'm so bad at styling hair myself, it seems like every time I try to style it it looks gross and has streaks in it. Partner if you wanna style it go for it, if you can't style it no worries, I feel ya. As for length I like short g1 style hair, longest I would like could be to their feet. I don't really like long hair that they step on it gets in they way for me

I also use that "fancy" decorative packing tape that's like $3 at Walmart or Target, so that's a really practical extra I can use... otherwise I have cats and dogs - my cats LOVE Temptations treats (any and all flavors) and my dogs like the Pedigree treats that are stamped made in the USA (must have made in USA) so like Beggin' Strips, etc.

I don't personally, I like blends a LOT because I've seen some very beautiful ones, but I'm also all for the "more classic" MLP look of like 2+ colors in the mane. Some rehairs I've seen look amazing with all single color mane and tail, so for me, it's up to the artist!

-How do you feel about tinsel/fizz/thermal/UV/Glow in the Dark hair?

Please don't panic guys - baits might seem in "short supply" right now but don't forget we've got a group of a DOZEN people right now all seeking out baits. And we're still in our "extra 2 weeks" that we got from having such fast sign ups, so, if it really starts getting to be like... middle May-ish and you can't find baits, then yes, we'll all work together and help you find the baits, but I think it's more of a "mass demand" right now causing it to seem like there aren't many baits out there...

And you never know what you might find pony hunting in the wild as well! :biggrin:

This is not some -end-all-be-all like if you answer this and say "Earth" and you may have listed like "Milky Way" as a favorite pony, that all of a sudden your partner should abandon your love of Milky Way and only make you an Earth pony rehair, not at all, this is just for kicks. A quick-answer preference! :biggrin:

I personally do either leg curls or ringlets just depending on how I rehair and the pose and what looks nice. I usually rehair long but it sits at the same length as their legs when I'm finished.

I'm going to say generally that many times people CAN'T FIND the exact ponies that people listed out as being their favorites, or... well... won't be (like if you listed Rapunzel, or Mimic, or something) - Using Favorite Poses, Favorite Groups and Favorite Colors are JUST AS OKAY as finding "favorite ponies" for your partner. :thumb: So, obviously for me this is totally cool to use either my poses, my groups, my ponies or my colors.

Example: Last swap, I listed Nightlight as a favorite pony (not wanting her rehaired, but just in general) - and I also listed out that I liked the Gusty Pose. I ended up with a Unicorn Sparkler who was rehaired in colors that had the "essence" of Nightlight - so even though I didn't list Sparkler specifically, my partner was able to find a pony in Gusty pose and use colors from one of my "favorite" ponies. - Oh and I want to say, I LOVE Sparkler! My partner did a great job thinking outside the box.

Just remember to stay away from your partners DISLIKES - if they have Twice as Fancy listed as their favorite group, but also say they dislike Crumpet Pose - than Up, Up and Away wouldn't be the best choice for them.

One more personal update from me, I have 2 ponies for my partner already... now I have to decide what I want to do for the last one(s). Ordered some hair using the coupon code, and just recently have been stocking up on hair - trying to keep myself from rehairing random other ponies and make sure I have all the colors and ideas my partner might like... haha!

I like tons of animals, my favorites are FRESHWATER FISH (Sturgeon, Paddlefish, Muskie/Pike), Cats, Dogs, Ducks, Chickens, Horses (and fantasy horses), Dragons, Sharks, Weird animals like... Okapi and Anything with Antlers... <3 I DISLIKE Pigs, Teddy Bears, Elephants... And anthropomorphis-ed animals like... bunnies wearing clothes or... something. UNLESS it's Unicorns wearing like... Sunglasses or... Cats wearing Taco costumes... If it makes you laugh it'd probably make me laugh too.

-What is your favorite smell/scent? (Also, listing ones you don't like is helpful)
I like woodsy smells, cedar and pine and I like "man smells" like... I don't know Mountain Air and things that kind of smell like cologne. I'm not one for food-smells so no vanilla, apple cinnamon, cupcake, etc...

On the fun front, I got my DollyHair in the mail today, some really awesome thing I think I'm going to use for my partner, so I'm pretty excited and probably will rehair them this weekend. But I still haven't made any progress on finding the other bait that I want to rehair (or baits? I can't really give that tidbit away!) so... the hunt continues!! :lol:

And for extras or, the pony, whatever, the only ponies that I have trouble doing anything with are ones that are grossly totally body discolored or have SO MUCH CANCER that they're... just... infected? I don't know. I don't mind brown marks, ink, dots, whatever, I rehair almost anything that isn't true CUSTOM bait. I personally am only beginning to really be a "customizer" so, I would prefer to stay in the realm of a pony that would be okay rehaired and maybe touched up a bit rather than a full on custom bait. I hope that doesn't make me sound terribly picky! :blush: I just have a fair number of "What am I going to do with these, they're too gnarly to rehair, gotta think of a custom idea" ponies already on hand... lol :biggrin:

Tea Rose is the color of Cotton Candy's factory hair.
Pussycat is the fading pink color that you see on like Posey, but it's pretty vivid when new and un-faded.
Old Bubblegum is more like a "hot pink" color, but I love that color and use it a lot.

Do you have any others that you might want to see? Maybe someone else here can get a pic before I can.

This pic is great!! :heart: The only other pinks I think I personally have are Candy Kiss, Heart Throb, and some Fizz from RDUK (oh and regular Pussycat) :biggrin: - Althought isn't the coral colored one on the end on the bottom Strawberry Mousse at DH? *Edit* Sorry I see it's Dusty Rose, so I also have Strawberry Mousse I can show.

I think I like the old bubblegum color but if I had to choose a lighter pink itd be fairies breath thank you guys for the help..

I'm still a little confused... If its wildcard what does that mean? Like random colors? Aren't the colors random anyways? So, that being said, the other colors I want to use will be a "wild card" for me to pick, as my partner was pretty open ended on what they liked. For this swap, I'd prefer a rehair candidate bait over a customizable bait, and just stick to the same desires as you are for the ones you're rehairing ;)

And I as well, am totally cool with "wildcard" - I'd rather trust my partners eye when they see the pony they want to rehair for me, because I truly love like... all colors and combos, lol

They're easy to maintain in my opinion and even if they get mooshed in the post it's pretty easy to revive them. I do only tend to use them on certain poses - like Heart Throb pose, or of course, anything that the particular colors chosen lends itself to being in ringlets - like the Soda Sippers or Rainbow Curl gals hair ;)

Wait - just to be clear, do you mean ringlets like this? Or like, curly sue curls? :biggrin:

My gal is dry! :dance2: FINALLY I can get like a "whole picture" image of her in my mind to make sure I love her, she's kinda out of the box, maybe considered the "Wild Card" as far as colors, but I know my partner will like the pony!!

I am -still- at zero ideas for what to do for my last pony(ies)... Nothing has struck my inspiration! :yikes: I know we have LOTS of time, just think, we JUST passed the point at which we were originally scheduled to get partners, so, we're all still way on a good schedule. However if anyone lucks out into a good group of baits where they might have extras... hit me up, haha :lol:

Oh! Sorry! I meant... okay there were two sets of "Pony Friends" released... the first set WAY more common than the 2nd...

First set includes: Creamsicle the Giraffe, Zig Zag the Zebra, Kinglsey the Lion and Spunky the Camel

The "Pals" were released with the Baby ponies... so like, Baby Stripes and Baby Nectar - Baby Nectar is a Panda... or Baby Fleecy and Baby Wooly, Wooly being a sheep. Those guys can be pricey like the "friends", sometimes moreso, but have like... less than 30 hair holes most likely.

Would everyone be okay with calling all the "non-actual-pony-friends/pals" ADULTS? I know the hair holes in the "pals" group may make it an easy rehair, but they're not so different from a Newborn, except for the hefty price... which is why I personally would say Adult? I just don't want anyone to feel like they would have to rehair like a CP with 70 hair holes and another person rehairs an "Adult" Hoppy the Kangaroo with 15 hair holes... so... hahah I just want it to seem fair for everyone! :biggrin:

Yeah the "winger theory" is why I thought the Pals should also be "adult" - simply due to cost of the bait typically being higher. :biggrin:

Well on Sunday my niece and I talked about what we were going to do about the Lickety Split pony I let her have a few years ago. We decided on deflocking rehairing and adding glitter to her symbols. It had the walls, ceiling and floor for the stable, but nothing else. I was happy for just that though! It's a great start!

I have all my ponies, and all the hair...and great intentions, but tonight was wasted on waiting on Walmart filling a script for me, then them telling me (after I waited an hour) that they didn't have it in stock. Yippee. Ah well. I will just rehair tomorrow after work. =]

-Some of us said that non-major bite marks or holes, etc, were not a problem. However, I just got a really cute bait, that happens to have a hole in the leg. Yes, a hole. My plan, no matter what, is to rehair this bait, and probably cover the hole by making a decorative... ribbon "anklet" of sorts.
So... partner, how do you feel about some sort of little... decorative thing like that to cover a flaw?
--no big deal if you're not into that! My feelings will not be hurt if you'd rather pass! :biggrin: Like I said, I plan on rehairing this bait and fixing her in this fashion no matter what, but the answer will help me decide if she's appropriate for my partner here or not :biggrin:

Here's an example from a custom I just finished, G3-->G1 Port-o-Bella, her neck seam was broken, so her head had to be glued on and it wasn't the nicest seam, so I wove some ribbons and made her a cute bow.

I love this!" - not to be like, braggy about what I did - but I felt really good that I felt that way because prior to that moment I was "iffy" on whether or not it would be liked by my partner, but now I'm totally confident... :heart:

I interpret this in 2 ways
1a) if the natural plugs have an area with big "gaps" between them, add plugs in between to fill out the mane.
---I am perfectly ok with this, and honestly, would expect it ;)
1b) adding plugs to the front to bring the hairline forward a bit (for example, some majesty's have a big gap between hairline and horn)
---I am also ok with this

2) changing the look, like adding bangs or a widow's peak
---while I'm not a huge bangs fan, I might be ok with a widow's peak if it *fits* with the pony and the look (and you are comfortable doing this)

I would definitely be fine with filling in gaps, or if the lines are totally wonky, and you can see that line that is SUPPOSED to be where the hair goes, and you want to fill in the rows of holes and then make a row on the line... that's okay too - here I have a Magic Star that shows what I mean... I drew the extended line in black on the photo because it was hard to see it in the photo (you guys know what I'm talking about, the groove that would "guide where the row went"?

Maybe a bit hard to see but, her "longer" hair row like... wonks WAY OVER to the side and you can see that there's a line where it should've been and it's way off. If you want to... or would... cover that with hair, that would be awesome! (Even if you cover it by, styling the hair to cover it, that's cool too! :biggrin:)

I would also be okay with extending hair lines, like closer to a horn, or closer to the neck (sometimes the one row has more holes than the other, and it looks uneven down by the neck). I am not a fan of having the extra "widow's peak" as much on rehairs but sometimes it really makes the pony so I will leave that up to my partner :biggrin:

Should be done soon, provided I don't get distracted or grind to a complete halt on things for an unexpected reason.

I'm not a huge fan of textures because I feel like they chip 10x as fast -_- As far as colours go, I'm someone who is open to just about any colour you can imagine. I tend to lean towards blues, purples, hot pinks, greens and sparkles, lots of sparkles, so for the sake of clarification, I also love glitter polish ^.^

Luckily it was towards the bottom, so her SUPER long hair is now just "long hair", lol... oy vey, I've not done that before ,that was dumb of me! But she still looks fantastic and you can't even tell I had to cut her hair...

Now I'm not sure if I can wrap these gals up, they're so pretty! :hearts:

Also, I wanted to mention, we have a couple international shippings, I think I didn't really account for that during our ship dates so, is everyone okay with having the shipping date stay the same? Otherwise we could push "within US" shipping bcak a week so that our international participants don't have to wait 2-4 weeks beyond? Anyway lemme know guys!

Sunshine do i need to PM you my tracking number? Or is that only if we have issues? I've been in swaps where the mod asked to be PMed the tracking number, and swaps where the mod just asked that you got tracking in case something went down.

What I've done in the past is just made sure to keep a copy of the receipt and/or tracking and provided via PM once I've shipped. So I think whatever is easiest for you Sunshine :)
