Title: WeLoveFine - Trixie Vinyl Figure
Post by: Judhudson on March 18, 2014, 06:08:45 PM
So for those that didn't like the human/anthro Twilight, WeLoveFine just announced a new vinyl figure - Trixie!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

She will be up for pre-order on the 19th.

I kind of want to see better pics of her.  I adore Trixie, so I am highly thinking about getting 2 of them.  But from the pic above, it doesn't look like the stars are on her hat/cape.  That kind of kills it for me.  That, and something seems a little off on her face.

Guess I'll see come tomorrow...

I think she suffers from duck face.  That is what is off.

It might be the lighting, but she also seems to have jowls

Did they miss the memo that funko just did Twilight and Trixe, which look way better anyways, so far not interested, she looks really chunky. No stars is a disappointment, and her mouth, they just can't seem to get any of them right after :muffin: Pony.

I won the puzzle giveaway for the apparently one-of-a-kind prototype of this figure :) looking forward to getting her in a week or so. I assume the lack of stars is from that being the prototype, but I could be wrong! (And I don't think WLF has much to worry about from the Funko figures... Funko just makes everyone stand on all four hooves looking forwards, and their Trixie doesn't even have a tail!)

Here's the original 3D model that the figure is based on, (http://www.deviantart.com/art/Trixie-Pose-1-257557272) so you can get a sense of how she looks from other angles, at least digitally.

Congrats Violet, but say what you want about Funko, at least their ponies look like show accurate ponies and not anthro creepy humanoid ponies.

Congrats, that's really cool! You've gotta post detail pics when she comes. :D

And hey, I don't think Funko has the monopoly on either vinyl figures or Trixie. She seems popular right now--both of those, an Equestria Girls doll, and possibly a Buildabear coming out down the line somewhere!

I haven't been all that interested in WLF's vinyls but I have to give them props for trying out dynamic poses. That's more than I can say for Hasbro and its licensees.

Congrats, Violet! That's really cool.

Please.  Funko's Trixie is hardly show accurate.  Her eyes aren't the right shape.

I give them probs for their unique poses, but that is all, the only one I think that looks alright is the :muffin: Pony one. The others so far look so awkward they have a lot of potential though, if I do ever see one I really want I might get it such as this Celestia(below) made from the same guy. Even though I'm not a big fan of supporting WLF after that whole extra release of :muffin: Pony.

WeLoveFine's stuff hardly ever impresses me. I guess it's because they get fan artists to draw the designs--their style creeps into them, and 99% of the time, I don't care for it. There are some artists that wow me but they're mainly G1 artists! Ha.

The G4 artists I like don't participate in WLF's stuff. I don't blame them.

:yucky: She doesn't look like a pony to me and her face looks off. I think the Muffin pony was the only cute one of the WLF ponies. How much are these figures?

I admit, i actually think future Twilight looked cool and ordered her.
The face on that one is already a bit wierd but...this one looks worse in my opinion.
Will have to see the full picture before making a final judgement.

Congratulations Violet!

That 3D model is actually pretty good.  I hope being that is only a prototype. WLF will have a better picture come today, but I don't see why they'd use a prototype pic for something they're going to advertise to sell...

I can live with the face being off a little, but I really do hope they have the stars on her hat/cape.

As for the Funko figures - they are nice, but the fact she has no tail kind of kills that.  I can see why on the solid color one, but the glitter one just makes me cringe...  Guess her magically disappearing act backfired on her XD

I really like how she looks in that link on DA, much nicer than the other figures released thus far. Not really sure what all the hate is on this figure from other people, especially from the Funko worshippers lol.

Congrats on winning that prototype :)

Having pretty passionately hated the Future Twilight, I do like this one a little better it seems more appropriate somehow but its maybe a little too humanised for me [although certainly not overly done].

I dont like Funkos static boring poses, I dont like WLFs need to put all ponies upright on 2 legs and acting human-ish. Just a nice middle ground would work. Can someone do PONY POSES - think G1 or G3 - so far the winner for me on dynamic pony poses and vinyl figures is McDs :P And that should simply not be true!

Also - congrats Violet! Thats a pretty cool prize to win!

That 3D-model looks awesome, but that WLF figure picture looks just awful. Not worth paying $40+ for me (if it's the same price as that Future Twilight figure).

Yea I agree the 3D model looks good, with the lights, and her face and hair look so much better, the WLF version looks ugly.. :/ def not worth $40 thats for sure, that's another thing I don't like about these figures besides their appearance, is their price way too expensive! The Funko ponies are larger and at least reasonable priced, and more easily available(in the US)

Uh, isn't Trixie also in a human/anthro pose?  ^^;

You gotta hand it to WLF, they are in fact marketing geniuses. First let fans take care of all the inspiration and actual artwork, which also takes care of their survey phase of marketing because they already know which charas/pics are popular based on the popularity of the fanart on DA. Then slap those pics on some T-shirts or make figures from them and the fans GO CRAZY for it.

It's better thank future Twi, but I don't want her. Muffins was the only one so far that I've thought was very cute and not too humanized. I'm glad I'm not liking them.

Well she looks more like a pony than "Future Twilight" but she's still a fail to me.

I support dynamic/interesting poses, but standing up like a human? When do any of the ponies do that ever in the show?  Why would anyone want this?

Once again-  I am relieved because it means I won't be tempted to throw money at WLF who is a company I no longer wish to support.

Cause seeing different interpretations of a character can be fun? I mean, haven't we seen like a million crossover pony customs?
Same thing about her standing on her hind legs. Tales and G3 did it...the concept never bothered me.

I don't mean to sound rude, but Trixie kinda looks like a pig in the figurine because of her odd muzzle.  It's cracking me up!  Oink!

Yup, it's great seeing ponies in a variety of different poses. By showing support for these types of figures we can encourage Hasbro and other companies to be more creative with their future pony products.

I dont get it either - its just a little too humanish. It happens in the cartoons on occasion sure but its not as though they spend large portions of the time upright. And yet its on two legs that these figures are released in the poses. Clearly its working for someone but I personally would love to just see someone do dynamic poses on all 4s.

Personally speaking, the pose is at least less awkward looking and less humanized than the Future Twilight figurine.  (Even with the full view I still think she looks like a piggy though.)

Haha, I immediatly thought of Miss Piggy when I saw her. What a shame, the 3D model looks great to me - I really like the work of this particular artist - but the translation can't do it justice. It's much more pony-esque than Future Twilight but the head is an utter fail to me

Yes, good. I hope they keep on releasing stuff I don't want. WLF merch is so hard to come by here.

Darkwing Duck...

Also, as far as looking piggish... let's be fair, other generations of ponies also suffer from not-looking-like-horses. When I've displayed my G1 baby superhero ponies I can't tell you the number of times people thought baby batpony was a pig XD

This is probably the best description of G4 ponies I've seen - that's exactly it. I love G4, but yeah...they definitely stray from the "pony" bit.

I think the picture is just taken at a really unflattering angle - her face looks unnaturally skewed, but I feel like that's not 100% the figure's fault. I'm thinking she'll look better once other images surface. She doesn't look terrible as is, but not nearly as cute as :muffin: Pony.

hum, I don't know. This might be the best angle, considering if you look at it head on, face forward...those nose holes are probably gonna make her look even more pig like...LOL! It's city kid piggie!!! Take the pony tail off and put a curly piggie tail and yea...I can see why some are saying it looks kinda pigish.
