Title: Meet Gatsby!

I've found a new direction in my life; dog training! I'm getting lessons from my dog trainer while I prepare for dog training certification, but I needed a test subject that would serve another purpose; as a therapy dog.

Thus, I adopted my new best friend: Gatsby the cardigan corgi/dachshund mix.

And we checked out our new apartment. Yet to move in and furnish but he's quite comfortable.

He'll be trained as a reading therapy dog and hopefully get an official therapy dog card and jacket. Helping the disabled has been a longterm goal of mine and there's no better way than with a sweet pup.

Congrats on adopting Gatsby!  He looks like a very sweet boy in your photos!  That's so wonderful that he'll be a therapy dog. 

My family has a dachshund, too (hence my profile picture and the "doxie" part of my username).  :heart: They are loving, comical, wonderful companions (although mine is a bit stubborn and bossy at times).   ;)

Awww! Gatsby is so very handsome :D

We have some therapy and service dogs in my apartment complex and it is so nice to see one who will be in traning. I hope he'll be a smart cookie and get his certifications :)

Thanks everyone! He's a loveable dork and a bit stubborn (just means he's smart!) His breed has been nicknamed the "dorki" around here.
