Title: Macau variations...
Post by: SeashellnBubbles on March 14, 2014, 04:30:33 PM
I was hoping to get some clarification (and picstures, hopefully) of the different Macau girls :) I finally tracked down a Minky (Minty), and I have Palomino Cotton Candy, bleeding drops Snuzzledrop, Jenny (her mane is incredibly thick...WAY thicker than any other white-haired Macau I have...is this normal?) Cotton Candy (peach bodied, pink haired) and Blosscotch. I adore each and every one of them, but I'm wondering about non-bleeding drops SD...does anyone have a side by side comparison shot? Also, I've heard tell of a pink and pink Cotton Candy as well as some other uncommon variants. Can anyone help me figure out just how many are out there? It's the ONLY set in the world that i wish to complete :)
Thanks all!

I'll take a pic tonight and upload it tomorrow...I feel so aweful that I have these incredible girls and can't even show them off  I was going to buy a new computer, but my dog, Schmutz, needs some detal work done, and his needs come before even mine. At least he gets knocked out before they go to work on him
Palomino was a complete surprise, as she was purchased sight unseen in a transaction onn eBay in which I purchased Macau Jenny! He said "I also have this Cotton Candy I'll let you have for 8 euros" I'd already committed to buying Jenny, and CC is a personal, sentimental fav, so any and all are welcome. Imagine my surprise when she arrived and here's this peach, white haired, UN-Cotton Candy looking CC staring up at me from the box!! He never described her, sie I thought he was just selling me a normal  what a great day THAT was!

You can find a Shelti's picture in this topic http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,347498.0.html (http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,347498.0.html) and answers to some of your questions too.

Here are pictures of both my SD with bleeding & non-bleeding symbols and one picture of my pink CC compared to the HK one.

Oh, thank you Miss-PomPon! She looks a little more peach than pink, but definately more pink than my peach one!
Am i remembering correctly, did you say you got her in the Pretty Parlor playset in France? I've a wretched memory, so it may be someone else who posted that. Thank you so much for the link :)

Thank you...I'd been looking for my old thread, but couldn't find it for the life of me :)

Yes it was me, but it's the peach body CC I got with the Pretty Parlour not this one. I could take pictures of this bright pink CC with the peach one CC, if you want to compare them. ;)

Jenny is easily one of the most beautiful ponies ever made :) I'm glad her thick hair is common, but all of them seem to have thinner tails than most other countries' ponies. Weird
Are their eyes stamped or airbrushed? They just don't seem to have the defined lines of a stamp for the most part :/

I have no idea on the eyes, TBH I cannot even tell the difference, maybe one of the nirvana experts can help on this? Anyway, I am posting in this thread again because I just got a Macau Lemondrop (bleeding symbols)

I have no idea what's happened to her hair, it seems to have a life of its own  >_<

Gosh such gorgeous ponies. I do agree Jenny is one of the prettiest ponies. She is on the list of ponies I do regret selling. Lovely pictures everyone.

Edit for atrocious spelling :?

Too much lovliness for one page, Whizzer! That blonde Jenny...I MUST find one!! Is that all of them, then? I think I saw a blonde Minty the other day...wasn't sure if it was cigarette staining, though...

White haired Jenny
Blonde Jenny
Bleeding symbol Bluebelle, Lemondrop, and Snuzzledrop
Non-bleeding symbol Bluebelle, lemondrop and Snuzzledrop
Palomino Cotton Candy
Pink haired PeachyCandy
Pink haired, pink bodied Cotton Candy
Peachy
White haired Minty
?Blonde haired Minty?

So...possibly 14 Macau ponies all told, definately 13. Well, at least I still have a ways to go!! :P

Oh, and thank you for the nice shot of Peachy...I've been looking for blurry hearts, not so well defined...are those the 2 versions of Peachy...like a bleeding hearts version?

Ok, I feel confident now that all Macau Mintys are the same pea green color instead of pastel...I fell much better now :) Thank you, Himmie. I gotta get some snaps of mine.
Who is the hardest to find, do you reckon?

I am thinking it might be the albino cotton candy or blonde hair jenny (might be because soemtimes the pics are not good enough to tell if hair is white or blonde..lol)

I think I have 14 versions on my list [although I am going to discount one of the Bluebelles] but I don't count the bleeding symbol versions; mainly because they are not intentional variations just symbol problems. So 13 I think is about the right number. :)

I need to take on your way of thinking, Cat, and save myself the money of finding both bleeding and non-bleeding versions...but I dunno if I CAN!!! Have you ever seen a blonde Minty?

I would agree with this also... I don't know of a huge amount of the blonde hair Jennys.

Jenny with white hair has always been one of my favourites :) I'm going to thin out my Macau's shortly, but she's one that will stay :)

I cant say I have ever seen or heard of a blonde Minty before. There was a lot of scepticism about at the time when blonde Jenny showed up as well however; people were not certain if it was real or discolouration.

Sorry to ask but are you sure that Minty is blonde? She looks to have a pink streak in her hair and I would initially be tempted to say that colouring was actually as a result of internal discolouration. Her hair looks a little too white at the tips to not be originally white. I am going to hope she is blonde when you get her - cant wait to see more. :)

I saw the pink in her hair, too...but I did some comparisons between the blonde of Jenny and her, and they looked similar enough to gamble €12 on...besides, she's still a pretty girl either way, and a Macau, so if if I'm only happy 2 ways out of three, and she isn't a true blonde, well...I'm still happy :)

Post Merge: April 02, 2014, 10:01:46 AM

Oh, i should point out that I've purchased from this person in the past and she hasn't in any way claimed it is a blonde Minty. She's a great seller and an extremely honest person (she informed me when she found an age spot on a Big Brother pony I purchased and did it BEFORE sending, so I could choose to cancel the purchase instead of just mailing it off and hoping i'd be Ok with it) This is my own curiosity making me roll the dice again as I sometimes do with funky things I see on eBay :)

I have a question about Blosscotch: is there only one version of her? On some pictures she looks rather pinkish to me, in others more lilac/purple. Is this just discoloration or are there two versions?

Thanks in advance! :)

I believe there are two like her...she's Macau, and the other is Macau-like Itaian. They's pretty similar in appearance :) There may be some color differences between batches, though.

But is the Macau-like Italian also stamped "Macau"? Both versions that I saw had the Macau-stamp on the hooves.
Title: Re: Macau variations...
Post by: SeashellnBubbles on April 13, 2014, 02:49:26 PM
No, the Italy has an ITALY etched into the hoof. There are sometimes slight differences in batch colors, and the plastic can fade or discolor over time, but I haven't heard of there being an official variation...are the symbols different, do you remember? Like, one smaller than the other, or different # of butterflies?
Title: Re: Macau variations...
Post by: Naraya on April 14, 2014, 01:07:24 AM
No, the symbols seemed to be just the same. So just a slight difference in colour, but no variation?
Title: Re: Macau variations...
Post by: SeashellnBubbles on April 14, 2014, 07:17:25 AM
I don't believe so, bot I've only been researching them as my priority ponies for a few months...others who have been around longer, such as Hathorcat or someone else may know of a variation, however :)

How many Peachy variants are there?
Title: Re: Macau variations...
Post by: hathorcat on April 15, 2014, 07:02:41 AM
I know the colour difference you mean - one is a like a pinky purple and the other a proper light purple? Its a notorious colour that light purple. The pink version is a discolouration - I have actually seen a couple with pinkish bodies and purpleish heads over the years :P

There are 2 Peachies however - one a distinct pink and the other one a pale peach in colour.
