(this is a head canon so please don't be angry)
Well for some reason, humans disappeared after G1 ended. So I was wondering what do you think happened to Megan after G1 ended? In my opinion, she left and for some reason, forgot about the ponies, and grew up. Seriously thinking about making a grown-up custom of her with Apple White from Ever After High.

I think no one believed her about talking, flying ponies, so she developed an eating disorder. She became too fat for the ponies to carry and she was also bitter about the position the ponies put her in, clinging to the rainbow locket, refusing to give it back, calling it "my precious". Eventually, she was admitted to a psych ward.

Laws were passed, banning humans from Dream Valley. Megan went home and grew up and became a collector of toy ponies. She has a secret bunker with all of the toy ponies ever made MOC/MIB. Even Greek Ladybird is still in her egg, unopened. Many a secret organization has attempted to find and break into this bunker, but have failed. For now...

I too thought about her growing up and kind of forgetting about everything chalking them up to imaginary friends or such. Kind of a sad but happy memory.

Rosencrantz, that's beautiful! I had a similar concept, but Molly faithfully remembered and waited, and Megan sought therapy and forgot.

I think of it like Narnia or the Neverending Story (book versions). You are drawn into the world of magic and wonder in order to learn simpler lessons about faith, honesty, courage, friendship, responsibility, all that good stuff that can pass you by or seem irrelevant in the muddled-up modern world. When you've been enriched enough you exit the fantasy world but carry it with you in your heart and your actions, and ideally make your corner of the world a better place or "a little piece of [fantasy land]" by remembering your lessons and passing them on to those around you. Megan was already pretty mature and kindly in the show, I like to believe Molly and Danny grew up similarly into fine, strong people with a keen love of and empathy for "real" horses and ponies. Perhaps each of them found jobs in the animal care/welfare industry and work towards ethical treatment for all creatures great and small? ^.^

This fanfic is so beautiful ;w; I nearly cried reading it.
(Personally, I imagine Megan, Molly and Danny continued visiting the ponies even after they grew up :heart: It makes me sad to think of them 'moving on'.)

Poor Megan, though I could imagine this happening, her in her room at the ward, finger painting rainbows on the walls and murmuring "shoobedooo, shooshoobeedoooo" over and over. Oh man XD

To me all the generations are different "universes" and don't connect at all. ^^;
Looking at G4 and Equestria girls i can only assume Megan would turn into a pony herself once she enters Equestria.
Just like how the ponies turn to "humans" when they travel to a different world.

As for my thoughts on Megan, it really could go so many ways. I mean if her adventures had been merely just playing with the ponies and brushing their hair, I'd say she'd probably be fine for the experience. But with all the things she faced alongside them, I'd imagine she has some baggage, and likely has some posttraumatic stress. She may very well be in a psychiatric facility.
Conversely, she may have used the Rainbow of Light to take over the eastern seaboard. And I, for one, welcome our new golden-haired master.

I think I fit into the group that saw Dream Valley as that: a dream. Kinda like Neverland. I seem to recall a time where I played that Megan had grown up and the ponies came back for her help. That triggered a deep memory of something similar. As for G2 and G3, they are their own universe IMHO so Megan would not exist there.
Would be cool if they did bring back Megan for G4 though!

Yeah, I think officially they are diffrent universes, so humans in Ponyland didn't 'go' anywhere. Even though I'm not really a fan of the idea, but Megan probably went home and grew up.

Ooo like the prince that was Scorpan? She came back to Ponyland one day grown up and he came to her for help and they fell in love in their adventure together. This is what now happened in my mind. :D

Personally I think that Megan maybe stopped being able to visit Dream valley as much once she grew up. I imagine she would have had a job either as a nursery nurse or working with horses. I think balancing a job and her home life may have made it difficult for her to visit as much but when she had the time she returned.
Now I want to combine mine and brightberry's ideas and write a fanfiction where Megan returns to Dream valley whenever she can until she, Molly and Dany becomes a very old. They returns one last time where they pass over from our world and become Alicorns. Megan becomes Princess Celesta, her powers of the Sun coming from her beloved bond with Sundance, Molly becomes Luna and Danny, angry that his sisters have the greatest power becomes... Discord!
I have a feeling that people are either going to love or hate that idea. Feel free to let me know if you have any ideas you think would work better.

The ponies all became Mommies when the Big brothers came to town and were too busy being parents to have adventures. Megan got a boyfriend, went off to college, got married, had her own kids and became too busy with her job, kids and husband to go play with the ponies.

As long as we're throwing in some Megan fanfic, has anyone here not read A Mighty Demon Slayer Grooms some Ponies yet? It is my favorite fanfiction ever, and I seriously want a bound copy of it to put on my bookshelf. It's a G1/G4 crossover, but is relevant to the "what happened to Megan" topic.
(Edit My mistake! didn't really think about this site being blocked, but yeah, I definitely should have guessed that. :blush: )
As for me, I don't see how one could ever stop going to such a crazy place, with such lovely furry friends. :) If she decided to make a life for herself in her birthplace, yes, then she probably had to cut back on time spent in Ponyland, but she could just as easily made a life for herself in Ponyland instead.

I've read that fic (but your direct link won't work - that site is censored here) but the last chapter was taken down and the whole project is now "on hiatus" due to the negative reactions of the final chapter. I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't read it yet, so I won't go into why the final chapter was so controversial.
On a side note, I run the "Friends of All Generations" on said website that cannot be named, and yes the above fic is included in it.

Seriously though, think what ever you want to = D I'm super obsessed with the character of Danny that some things get me annoyed but I know I can't do anything about it, just like Surprise X D I have my own head cannon that other people will think is lame and horrible o.O
I think if I didn't start hating how Discord has become from the first episode of him, I might have been wowed = P

I was always amused that Megan had a brother named "Danny" and the Transformers had a friend named "Daniel". Maybe Megan was placed somewhere to protect Spike's family from the Decepticons and didn't want to spend a year on Cybertron. Shortly afterwards, she discovered ponyland and eventually invited her younger siblings to visit.
I write this because it's so wrong. That's why. :P
But... it also made a good excuse for why our toys were forced to interact. That had to be explained.

I couldn't help my poor self and read what all I wanted to read of that story....so the 7th page wasn't the last of that story? A page 8 was taken down? I'm so confused on this! It doesn't make sense = P
I couldn't stop laughing at parts I had read, hate to admit I kind of cried on some parts but it was because I never thought of never seeing each other again in my head stories O.o but the rest made me cringe with laughter.... X D

A political overthrow by Princess Sparkle (UK) banned the movement of humans through Ponyland, but pushed an pro-anthromorphic agenda, resulting in the MLP Tales style civilisation.
North Star and Wind Whistler made clandestine visits until sadly Megan was involved in a terrible accident involving a naked flame and her turquoise satin dungarees.

I think she still lives with the G1 ponies. The world is a huge place! G1s are all together, G2s in another place, G3s... Maybe it's not very imaginative of me, but I hate to think of something bad happening to Megan. Like Rainbow Brite and all other 80s cartoon kids, Megan doesn't ever grow old. :)

While I far from hate the fic, I share the same problem as you. I also dislike how Megan was so jaded and tempermental, I always saw her as a plucky kind hearted friend. On a postive, I love the chapter with the twinkle eyed ponies.

I know how you feel! I was "NO NOT PINKIE PIE!!" And how Danny was in most of the beginning. And some of Surprise's actions. Just 'nope nope nope!' during the parts I choose to read.
I like to think that without me, no one would have put their last name in any fan story or comic = P Is it bad to want credit for that knowledge? X D

I'm attracted to that fic like a bad accident. It's a sight to see, but I don't want myself or anyone I want to care for in it. Unfortunately the guy maliciously destroys my favorite character (but literally and figuratively) in it. Even putting my love of Wind Whistler aside, he treats her like absolute garbage in that fic for essentially shock value.
Here's my idea
Megan discovered the ponies changed slowly because they lived so long. With a lifespan of more than two centuries, they rarely foaled and their population grew very slowly. But, as the ponies seemed timeless, she grew into a young woman who found her own world demanding more of her attention.
While she continued to spend much of her summers in Ponyland through high school and community college, she moved away to go to a university and summer internships limited her to an occasional weekend visit. She graduated and had a graduation party with the ponies who joyfully celebrated her accomplishment. However, the jobs in her field took away from her family's ranch and thus the ponies. She would still make an effort to come at least one weekend a summer and brought her new family.
As the years passed, Megan began to see more of the passage of time on her pony friends and the ponies as a whole. New foals were born from time to time and the older ponies did pass on. Her closest friends were visibly older. Then, Megan met her death in bed at a ripe old age. In her will she asked her ashes be interned in the ponies' vault so she could be with her friends forever. While it confused the lawyer, her family knew exactly what she meant and took her ashes to Ponyland where they are kept with the other treasures the ponies cherish most.

Not directly concerning Megan, but I noticed immediately when I started watching Jem not too long ago that a character appears named "Danny" who bears a more than passing resemblance to the MLP character (albeit older). In the Jem episode, he lives in the city and is kicked out by his alcoholic father; it's pretty far from what little is seen in MLP (where the kids live on a farm and both parents are mentioned) but if it's a little farther into the future it's possible to imagine that the parents were divorced and the girls were sent to live with their mother while Danny got stuck with the father (and if things were unhappy enough to lead up to divorce, it's no wonder the kids were always hanging out in Ponyland...) Granted, it's not a very happy way to think of it; more likely, the early episodes of Jem were probably in production around the same time as the MLP movie (where Danny was introduced) and someone at Sunbow noticed the names and based the Jem character's design off of him (and I just really, really want a concrete link between My Little Pony and the rest of the Sunbow universe, where a magical land of multi-colored ponies doesn't even break the top ten weird things that exist.)

I admit, that would be where the 'hate' part of my own love-hate relationship lies with that fic.
To clarify, yes, there was a chapter 8 that concluded the fic (at the horse show they were being groomed for). It had a nice tidy ending and then.... all Tartarus breaks loose setting up for a sequel. The problem is if it had ended at the show, it would have been good. Wouldn't have gotten a favorite from me because of what happened with Wind Whistler but I probably would have given it an upvote because it really was that well-written and that well-planned. However, the readers revolted (I've rarely seen the level of backlash this chapter spawned) and now the story is on indefinite hiatus.
Chapter 8 should be available as one of the author's blog entries (unless he's since removed that as well - I went to look but 373 blog entries are a lot to pour through).
But the author does such a great job of tying together the source material - from G1's cartoon, movie, and even comics with the current generation's cartoon, movie, and comics that I can't help but be impressed with the sheer scope of the world-building present.
I don't think the "dark" tag was there when it started as I generally avoid anything with that tag (I prefer happy little slice-of-life fics or comedies - both of which are so rare in a sea of grimdark and action-adventures... you'd be hard-pressed to believe these authors are writing about My Little Pony), and at first that's exactly what this started out as. Yeah, you could tell Megan had some glaring issues but it seemed like the point was to work through them...

I think my favorite idea so far is something like the end of Peter Pan, with Megan growing up and her daughter now visiting Dream Valley - just like Wendy.
But every so often, Megan joins them. :)

I spent hours pouring over that fanfic today and I loved it, I thought it was very well written, I loved how everything tied in and it was easy to follow. It's disappointing to know that another chapter was written but has since been pulled down, I would love to find that and truly finish reading the story.

Gah, now I want to read the last part, even though I just read thru the Danny and Surprise parts in the story anyway....but now I need to know if there were any Danny parts in the ending X D But I guess it took me longer to go thru it just searching for things in it to read and not the whole thing o.O

She grew up...and went to art school. Dyed her hair red and legally changed her name so no one would recognize her. Then as her new name Lauren Faust... created MLP: FIM..

All the Gens are different universes in my head, too; they don't connect.
I like to imagine that Megan eventually transitioned entirely into Pony Land and stopped coming back to earth altogether. (Much less depressing than thinking she eventually stopped going to Pony Land, which seems to me like the most likely other alternative.)

I once read a theory on Frankie from Foster's home for imagination that it was all in her head and she had a snow globe of the house and she would stare at it all the time making up all the scenario's in her head, and it made me think about megan making it up with her toy ponies.
That fic was actually really good! I loved how everything was tied together! It totally made sense! The twinkle eyes and the crystal empire with the mountains crystal rock? DUH! Why didn't I put that together? I loved that fic, thank you for posting!

I always imagined that Megan grew up and bought her own ranch. Where her brother and sister would visit, with their various families in tow. And as the years went by, Firefly would return to the human world. Never with any rhyme or reason, though she had a penchant for showing up just after a thunder storm. She kept visiting Megan. When the Pegasus mare grew too elderly (for ponies though magical have shorter life spans then humans). Her fillies and colts began to make the journey to Earth. To keep the friendship alive, though many long years had passed.
