Finally got her done. An actual custom that uses frayed ribbon!

She started out as a fakie G3.5 Unicorn that came with a purple/pink singing mushroom, which was the inspiration for her symbol. Anyway, she took a bit of work and I'm a bit happy with her.
Now the big thing. When I first even decided to do frayed ribbon hair there was a few questions that came up... one was "Can it be styled?" --- The answer is with some work, Yes it can be styled... though you have to go through some steps to get it styled. Her tail is approx. 5in long (10in if not doubled), and her hair is approx. 6.5in (13in if not doubled over) and too about 4 strips of ribbon.
Now I didn't record or even take pictures of the process but I will at some point do various tutorials on this kind of hair.

She looks fantastic!

She is beautiful! I would love any tips you care to post about how to do hair like that with ribbons, I always end up tossing out ribbon that gets frayed too badly, would love to have a better use for it.

She is really gorgeous! So adorable!

Dang that is gorgeous, fantastic job!

I just recently learnt about using frayed ribbon as hair, it looks amazing but tricky. Amanita is just so gorgeous, her colours are so soft ^.^

It is really tricky but there is quite a bit of interesting techniques you can do with it... I've tested coloring it and I think I have away to will work but I still need to play with it XD

Lol ligress! She seems to be a bit of a hit. Now I just need to think of another design. Maybe another mushroom uni? Or sh room earth pony? Hmm what can I do?

Oh wow, she's really cute! I appreciate that kind of fakie now in a whole new way :)

Oh my she looks so cute. Perfect colours and I can't imagine how long it would take to fray a ribbon and then rehair with it.
-
oh my gosh that's too adorable

Lol yeah it takes a while to get the fraying and rehairing done.. takes even longer with getting it curled xD

After seeing the video you linked in the Fakie customs thread I must know more about these sweeties, what are they called if you remember and where did you find them? I want to get a few for my collection.

There is two species of pony that uses this mold... an Earth head mold and the Uni head mold. Both of them should be Country Girl, and were sold at Tractor Supply Co. at some point. I can't find a box for the Unis at this time but there were 3 Mushroom colors and I bought 4 of them (because my friend wanted one of the mushrooms XD) and the earth ponies can in 2 colors with a parent pony.. at least from what I remember.
-
Sadly I'm not finding them at the Tractor Supply website but hopefully I will find them somewhere sometime. I need them because of the musical mushrooms XD and my sister needs them for her fakie collection.

TSC's website doesn't show everything they have in stores sadly.. what is available mostly depends on the store. I found the adults that come with the earth babies at big lots before so it just depends on the stores

oh my - she's totally cute!
I must admit the original fakie kind of creeps me out (I want her mushroom though. here she is sold in a pony family set, with no mushroom included), but Amanita is totally a sweetheart! look at those lovely colours (especially her hair, I simply adore its pastel colour), and the beautiful, detailed symbol!
congratulations on your work! this is the proof that the tale "The Ugly Duckling" is true <3
