I can't link it...it's on eBay UK. Dude's got orange Firefly, Greek Lemondrop and baby, Minty and baby..some other one and baby...bunch of other Greeks...all thrown up under "Collection of Vintage My Little Ponies and accessories" or something like that. It's StUPID!! Like he just found them all in his basment and put them on eBay like they were normals!
-
I had not seen it ^.^ but I am sure that the guy will do pretty well  especially when folks on here see it. Thanks for sharing :dribble:
-
Oh well Bet he gets a shock at the finishing price :) *sits back and watches*
-
He's probably already shocked by the price  6 days to go and it's already over 100 pounds, I bet he's happy
-
I betcha he goes to all his friends "I found these old ponies..." And then they'll all go to their basements and post their ponies and wonder why they didn't go into the hundreds (thousands?) Of pounds like his did!! Hlol:
-
Why is it so stupid? He probably just doesn't know that there's anything different about them?
-
Aww man, u gave title away.. Haha I have no chance now lol. Oh wells least I tried :p
-
Why is it so stupid? He probably just doesn't know that there's anything different about them?
Yeah, judging by the description I don't think he knows anything about MLP :)
-
That is like a dream lot!!! I am watching it with interest, my bid got knocked straight out of the park!!! Its amazing how many Greeks end up over here, my Greek Minty was 50p from a car boot sale :D

I didn't mean stupid in an insulting way at all, just like, my jaw just kept hitting the floor stupid! :) i meant it as a compliment, not that he himself is stupid, just how amazing the auction is

I'm going to have to go look now and watch! Not to bid but to gawk at the action, err, auction :)
-
I'm just interested in bidding for Baby Chloe! She is second from my grail but she will do nicely :)
(Thanks Nancy :))
-
Can someone PM me the link? I'd love to watch for funsies

Exactly.

no chance of that lot being a bargain now... lucky discovery for that seller for sure
-
It might still be a bargain comparatively...i mean, buying them all separately. How about a bet on where it'll end? I say Somewhere around 2000 pounds!
-
Do u really think so?! I mean how many people have that amount lying around to pay for ponies. Realistically I think less. I remember when an auction with a few Greek babies went for only 500gbp. I guess time will tell.
-
Can someone pm me the link?
-
I can't find it either. PM please?
-
Tried to get the link for you guys but struggling on my phone! Shoot me a PM to remind me to get it for you when I'm back at a computer tomorrow and I'll happily get you it :)
-
Added to my ebay watchlist :D I'm curious how it ends too!!!
-
:dribble: That baby Minty :dribble:
Seriously, if I wasn't about to empty my savings and then some to sell my house at a loss, I would take a serious go at that auction. Greek babies are one of those sets I haven't even started on because I would really love a complete set and I'm sure I never will.
-
Sadly, looks like a few are moldy...or is it just me?
-
I wrote to the seller and he said they were purchased in Athens many years ago :) Maybe 1500 Pounds is a better estimate...I really don't see it going for much less, there are a lot of different bidders. I'm not sure about the mould...I thought they just looked dirty, like they've been in a basement for a while...they're still beautiful, especially the orange Firefly...or is it Skydancer? I can't really see enough with my little phone
-
what are the current PCs for the pegasi in there then? I know the CPs are not that much really, especially if condition is a bit of a gamble. baby CC is not that sought after, which leaves baby Minty and Lemondrop and the pegasi to run for their money ;-)
xx
-
I think for the pegasi $400-500 each...but that's Arena pricing...eBay always seem to run a little more, sometimes a LOT more. The auction owner wrote me that there are 80+ watchers at this point! He was very surprised that they were so rare!
NOTE - I'm just guessing at gender...the person who wrote me could be male or female :)
-
It must be nice to have that kind of cash to spend on ponies! :dribble: What an auction!
-
Someone is lucky to have found those in their loft! Oh lordy imagine if they'd have donated them to a charity shop? Some throw away toys if they aren't perfect... *hyperventilates at thought*
-
I was thinking pegasi in that shape are more like $200ish and babies $100-$200... arena has fantastic shape MLP to command those better prices...
honestly I if it clears $1000 it is because there's a crazy bid war... $800 is a plenty pricey penny for that lot and yah, I can imagine that boy is that seller happy to have put that "trash/treasure" on ebay ;-)

Looks like the final was 750 pounds!! Wow. I thought Baby Minty was one of the more sought after ones, does she really normally go for $100-$200? I could have sworn I saw one for like $600-700, but maybe that was the green haired version.
-
I asked a little while ago about Chloe Price Check and her version was around $300. I would've loved to bid just for her but sadly couldn't go that much at one time. If someone here won that lot and wants to sell her, I'd love to buy her!
-
It would definately be interesting to open that box when it arrived! Lol! The winner wasn't me, though i did bid. I expected it to go much higher than that...USD they did pretty well at about $110-125 per, i figure. I've seen them go separately for much more, especially the orange pegasus. I was kind of sad to see the ending mark, actually. *sigh* if i'd just made a few more hundred sales last month....
-
Wasn't really that surprised. It's alot of money for most people. Congrats to the buyer though.
-
Congrats to the buyer, that's a really nice lot, and even more congrats to the seller x
-
heres the link :)
pretty awesome score!

Price looks about right to me... the orange peg is probably Medley or Firefly, but I can't tell which. The orange ones tend to go $160-200.
-
Honky doodle dandy that's a lot of Pony. O.o
I bet that seller was surprised!
-
Considering how some prices have dropped I think that's about right. I had a feeling it might end up wildly much higher than the value of the content, mainly due to threads like this, but it looks more like it was on the mark. Congrats to the winner.
-
On one hand it's upsetting how much Greeks have dropped in value. On the other hand I have a lot more of them these days :D
-
I bet the seller was very pleased with the outcome :D Does anyone know how many watchers/views there were? I bet a ton
-
I kept in touch with the seller pretty much all the way through the auction advising him not to clean the ponies and how to ship them safely. He said on Saturday there were about 80 watchers, and on Sunday it jumped to 95! Most, of course, were looky-loos, but he's never had that much interest in an auction before. He said he'd purchased the ponies in Athens a number of years ago. (Again, i'm saying he because of typing style. I didn't want to be creepy and ask too many questions about an auction i couldn't afford! )
-
I am still waiting to see where they surface...
I think a lot of the watchers were going to bid - but it all went over most people's budget too quick.
That's usually what happens to me ;-)
I was determined at the time to bang a bid in for the gorgeous SA sparkler - and I was really going to go overboard. Before I could even attempt to put my 600 in - the auction just galloped away and out of my league ;-) I could never even put a bid in LOL
xx
-
There was an auction for SA Sparkler at the same time? I didn't even see that one! Do you have a link?
-
No not at the same time - that auction was years ago.
Sorry is that caused any confusion.
xx
-
I remember that auction!!
-
Auction has appeared again; same seller, same photos, just says greek in title now.... ?!
-
Says buyer was time waster :o
-
Yup. Apparently the buyer strung him along, too, wasting even more time. -_- but I guess we have another chance to grab a bargain! Lol! It just sucks that this is becoming more common, and I feel the blame lies entirely with eBay's policy about not leaving negative feedback for buyers.
-
I do agree that's part of it, but I think there are other reasons as well. The change so that you can no longer see who's bidding is one, but also the attention drawn to the auction from here - this forum is visible to non-members as well, and a small number of people enjoy driving up prices (I presume for 'fun') with no intention of paying.
-
Well that makes sense then if people do what you said LadyGuinevere. I was wondering why this auction was back on.
-
I spoke with him again last night and he's pretty ticked about it. Hopefully the winner this time will be someone in the community or at least a serious buyer outside of. I can't believe this kind of thing is allowed to go on...eBay must know they're shooting themselves in the foot by it!
Anyway, that's off topic. At least now maybe we'll be able to see some "after" pics of them when they're all cleaned up! :)
-

And as you say, with ebay's lack of punishment for non paying bidders it makes it pretty easy for people to mess sellers about and know that there is going to be no problem if they back out of the transaction.
If the seller was so annoyed...he could just have offered it up on a second chance offer after all. With a lot that size, that's what I would do. So while I can feel sympathy there was always an alternative to re-listing it if he preferred.
As LadyG says, I always think its worth remembering that when a lot like this gets this level of attention here, its inevitable most bidders will perhaps have read this thread. Maybe realising that the lot was not so much of a bargain but more on par with value made the winner a little reluctant.
