I am always a bit scared of BAB with the sound chips..... My girls accidently lay on them at night and all of a sudden at 4am you hear Cindy Laupers 'girls just wanna have fun' or some random One Direction song :yikes:

Lol, that would be creepy but I do admit that I'll want to go back in to get the rainbow dash I just got a voice chip and my daughter one for her pinkie pie.

I love the one they did for Fluttershy. However, if all of the sayings sound like the ones you can hear one the site then I am not impressed. Rainbow Dash's doesn't even sound like herself. Sounds like they got a random employee to try to impersonate her. Maybe the other recordings we can't hear are better.

Hmmm I'm going to BABW on Wednesday. If they have the sound chip there I'll check it out. I wonder if they will let me buy the sound chips separately and just stick them in the ponies myself?

Wow. I just listened to the samples on the website and you all are right- they are terrible! There is no way any of them were done by the voice actors. Why can't they be as good as the Fluttershy one? I was really looking forward to getting voice boxes for Dash, Pinkie and Twilight. The sayings they have are so dumb too. :huh: What were they thinking???

I was so hoping for these...then I heard the sounds on the site...really? Really? Those are awful. And Rainbow Dash's name quote on Rainbow Crash? She'd NEVER refer to herself like that.

I like Twilight's voice okay, but then I'm used to the talking Twilight plush and it sounds like the same voice.
As far as the clips themselves, I can only get the first of each to play, too. Can anyone transcribe the rest?

Good grief that IS awful !! :shocked:
I can imagine any parent buying that for their child will be met with "that's not Rainbow Dash", leading to lots of annoyed customers.
Maybe we should all e-mail BAB and complain? ;)

I do like Fluttershys but these new ones are not great. I guess Fluttershys voice box was a better seller than they expected and someone saw some money to be made in offering the other 3. Shame they didnt put the same effort in them.

I am still going to hold out hope that the other sayings are better. Are the ones on the website the same special sounds that were available at the fair? I suspect they are.

I don't get it- how hard would it be to paste a few classic quotes from the show onto a file and use it for the voice box? I really wish they would have put more effort into making these right :-/

I wonder if using actual lines from the show would mean the voice actors would have to be paid royalties? That could explain why talking toys never seem to use the real voices....
But yes, they should have used show quotes, even if other people had to perform them.

Yup I agree with Lucky Ladybug, it would cost them silly bucks to use the show VAs plus they would probably have to pay additional licensing for the rights to that :(

Is it 100% the actual voice actress? I have that plush with voice box [did not even realise it was in there :P] and while it sounds super close I could not say for certain that its Andrea Libman but thats more because the voice is not exactly clear.
Also these boxes are bolt ons launched after terms for releasing Pinkie and Rainbow Dash and Twilight were probably all agreed. Perhaps at the time BaB decided against the extra cost of carrying the voice boxes for these ponies but having seen it requested or the potential popularity of such an item when it came to Fluttershy they were happy to pay it. Going back and creating accurate voice boxes will add cost [but not necessarily high end profit] to 3 toys which have been out for months, have already been purchased by much of the keen market and are potentially going to be retired at some point. Unfortunately I bet it all comes down to them not being willing to $$ on a bolt on for an item which has already peaked in sales.

I don't think the Fluttershy voicebox has her voice actress. She never sounded exactly spot-on to me when I listened to the clips.

^I agree. I don't think it's fluttershy's voice actress either. But she sounds pretty close. I wish BABW could have put a little effort into finding voice actresses for the other ponies that sounded at least vaguely like the characters or at least choose phrases from the show.
Has anyone been to BABW and heard all the phrases? The weather had been so cruddy here I haven't had a chance. Lets see... Twilight will say:"Math is Hard?" Rainbow Dash will say: "Brush my hair and braid my tail! It looks so pretty!" and Pinkie Pie will say... well honestly I'm having a hard time thinking of something Pinkie wouldn't say. She's so random!

I definitely don't think it's Andrea Libman doing Fluttershy's voicebox. It sounds ever so slightly off, but whoever is doing it, does a GREAT job.
