Not sure if this has been posted, but my newspaper did an article about ponies, and they said that Hasbro's new wave of Equestria Girls will have feet. I can scan the newspaper if anyone wants it :)
-
Wow! What a random thing for your local paper to run an article on! I want more ponies in my local papers!
So this is the Rainbow Rocks line? I think it was speculation that they would have them due to the type of shoes they come with. But that is awesome to have it confirmed! Yay!
-
That's great! 8D Can't wait to see them!
-
It is real feet or is removable sandals or shoes who have feet or fingers? some Bratz dolls were like that
-
They NOW have feet?
Did they have Cloven hoofs before, so as to scare the neighbours?

They had hands as feet...think Scaphandra.
Ok maybe not...but the pegs they did actually have make about as much sense.
-
that's certainly an interesting topic to put in the paper! lol
I wonder what their feet will look like? and will the 1st wave of dolls be unable to swap anything with the rainbow rocks ones? I'm not sure how I feel about that!
I actually really liked the shoe designs they had, like AJ's cowgirl boots & pinkie pie's lace up sneakers, they kinda reminded me of shoes for hooves! lol
if only they weren't pegs! >.<
-
It said that feet were being added so there could be new shoes to put on the dolls, so I'm guessing real feet.
-
Boo! >_< now they can't stand on their own

I wish they had. I'd have set some out on the lawn to do just that!
-
Interesting. I was never bothered by their lack of feet but having more shoe designs is a good thing.
Though i also hope they will still be able to stand on their own (or come with a doll stand).
-
Slow news day? XD
But yeah, that's good news. I already have quite a few of the "footless" variety, but oh well!
-
Boo! >_< now they can't stand on their own
Yeah, I agree, I liked the lack of feet and the giant boots.
Sigh.
What do the feet LOOK like then, huh? Probably tiny and dull.
-
I can't believe, I just got one and I'm gonna have to replace it.
I also would like to know how do the feet look like. I hope then can wear nice shoes/sandals and not only high boots.
-
Would it be bad to say I'd prefer feet that snap onto the existing pegs?
-
Pic of the newspaper article would be great!
-
Would it be bad to say I'd prefer feet that snap onto the existing pegs?
Would it be bad if I said I prefer peg feet, clunk boots, and FREE standing Equestria Girls dolls? :P ;)

Nope, I agree 100%.
-
If they release a Fluttershy with elbows, knees, and feet I will have to buy her. I just want a sweet barefoot Fluttershy lol

Well, if nothing else, it would be nice if the clothes and shoes of the new releases were back compatible with the old releases. It's weird that they would suddenly change the design. I wonder if people wrote them to complain? You'd think they'd market test the dolls before releasing them to uncover possible problems.

While i love the clunky boots, they would not fit a possible beach or sleepover set very well.
(Equestria girls with nightwear would be so cute.)

They NOW have feet?
I am here because of this same thought...

I agree, that was one disappointment for me when the dolls were 1st released cuz when I saw the molded on tops I thought they would make cute swimsuits and then the boots came off.. lol
has anyone else noticed their hands are different too? they look like those flat pointy hands you see on fakie dolls (I don't really like it!) they might have new torsos as well?

uhh...I don't even have words for it...no...words :(

Good thing Twilight Sparkle didn't take off her shoes. Remember her reaction on her hands? ;)
-
I'm sorry, but Rocker Twilight... Is so wrong. IMO

To me she looks more like a 60s space future gal (think Jetsons) than a rocker singer
-
What's with the spikes...?
This line still feels all kinds of clumsy and disorganized to me, and the "Now with FEET!" thing isn't helping me feel differently.
Nothing about it feels planned or cohesive, and the dolls still give me that "fakie" vibe, perhaps partly due to the fact that they do not look much like their on-screen counterparts. It really feels like they've just found some dollar store doll molds, colored them like EQG characters, and rolled them around in some surplus doll clothes.
-
What's with the spikes...?
It's from the Rainbow Rocks line of EQG dolls...
-
Not only are the design elements funny, but the Dolls just don't follow the characters personalities. They've spent 4 seasons bulding these characters, but none of the dolls or toys for that matter follow it. Not that I'm a total show only person, I mean, toys first always, but I just don't see Twilight dressing like that at all.
-
Their hands look cheap though... :| Hasbro's ruining Equestria Girls!!!! D'X
-
hmmm well if I bought the dolls and was able to... I'd see about transplanting XD
shame the dolls with feet are not the articulating dolls

You think Twilight Sparkle, nerd princess of the library, wouldn't put on a starry purple tutu and some face paint, grab a microphone stand and belt out a rock solo? Why not? I don't see the discrepancy at all, said Hasbro execs.
I think I stated it in another thread... I really think this Rocks line would be more well-suited to the CMC and friends. They're all about talent shows and competing, and even have their own glam 80s jumpsuits to take inspiration from.

I found this one another thread :P

Fluttershy's footsie :3
Obviously by a flicker user that isn't me :P

I've got that much, but I never took Twilight for a KISS fan, or a He-Man space princess, or a punk rocker! :P This still reads like a misplaced measure of edginess to me. I just don't understand what Hasbro's is playing at. Who are their target audience for these things?
I'm incredibly interested in hearing about the creative process behind these. Hasbro probably knows lots if things that I don't. ;)
And don't get me wrong! I do love the little feets. Perhaps Hasbro was actually responding to fan criticism with this one!

Hmmm *looks over at one of her Pinkie Cooper dolls* Yep following that route with the feet XD Eh I still don't get why they chose this theme for them

Can't say I'm surprised. "Twilight Sparkle ALWAYS has the right purse" says the back of her pony Fashion Style box. I don't think the merchandisers have ever seen an episode of FiM.
I've sat on the fence about these dolls and have realised my BIGGEST peeve is that none of them come with the outfit they spend the entire film in. And those outfits are super duper cute. Why can't they be wearing those!? The footsies are cute but the new hands look nasty =/ One step forward and two steps back, uh.
-
Personally, I like them and can hardly wait to see them in person!
-
omg the box art is so adorable!

I'm with Bergamot. They give me a dollar-store-fakie vibe. But I have Rarity for my army and I will get the 5-pack for Luna. The box art is so cute, I wish the dolls looked exactly like them. I am happy they have feet now as that was my #1 complaint.
Anyone know if they are coming out with another show using this Rainbow Rocks theme? And where, oh where is Rarity?
-
I really don't see it as that much out of character. Yeah maybe if she was the only one who dressed like that while Dash dressed like a bookworm that would be odd but they are all like that. It's clear they are putting on some kind of concert together.

Rarity was the first one spotted :) She comes with the accompanying pony.
I believe the "Rainbow Rocks" thing is simply an off shoot of the "Rainbow Power" angle from the pony line in order to tie up the 2 lines.
-
These dolls better stand ON THEIR OWN that's all I have to say... :hmm:

I actually like the line, but I think I get what you're saying. If I could change anything about them, I think it'd be the eyes--they just don't seem unique enough to the characters like the ponies, and they aren't as expressive as I'd like them to be. Maybe with some time they'll get that way, though.
I still like the anthropomorphic angle to the line, and while I've been very tempted once I saw them in person, there still hasn't been one that I really wanted to throw money at. I also thought about customizing for myself, since I'd love to see the cutie marks on the character's hips, but I think that might give parents a not-so-innocent vibe if that were to happen in the real line, so I won't hold my breath for that happening to the real thing. XD

Are those painted leggings?
My pet peeve, along with molded tops... :nope:
-
It seems all the basics except Fluttershy have painted tights but the good news is the deluxe versions don't. At least they replaced the molded tops with removable rubber ones.
-
I wonder if they still have the molded tops though, like underneath the removable ones?
I'm curious to see a nude comparison shot with the 1st dolls!

Unless Hasbro has created a whole new torso mold (unlikely, but with the new hands and feet, who knows?), the Rocks dolls will probably have bustier or singlet outlines under their clothing, the same as all the other EQG dolls. It's easier and cheaper to just use the same torso for everybody.
