Its from the toyfair 2011, sorry if this is such old news but im so sad! The crystal keychains are all over my Toys R Us right now, and I didnt know about this picture! Last week, I looked at their keychains and say only pink and blue. I didnt know they planned on making AJ or Rarity!? Or... did they and I missed out? I dont ever remember seeing the AJ and Rarity in stock, just the other two. Does anypony have the AJ or Rarity crystal keychains or are they legendary? I really want that AJ, too cute!

I don't know- I've never seen them in stores- only Pinkie and Rainbow. It would be cool if they would release more of them though!

Yes, it was a real shame that they never released more of these keychains. Other photos from the same fair show Applejack and a white version of Rarity on package, so they were definitely planned:

But years ago when people asked about further releases of these, the standard response was "not now". Wish they had've admitted the plan was "not ever", I hoped for these up until last year.

This. Its not Hasbros call unfortunately, its the licensees. I guess they dont think they will get enough up take on anyone other than the financially friendly PP and RD or maybe the first release did not sell well enough for them at all. Unfortunately there is probably a commercial reason at the core.

I would have loved to get the Rarity one! At least we know there's one Rarity and AJ in existence. Wonder who has them? XD
I remember when Pinkie and Rainbow were selling like hot cakes on ebay! They got quite pricey, but people still bought them. I was never able to find them in stores until they finally showed up at Hot Topic but I didn't like the price :P Found Pinkie at Rite Aid for $5 though a few months ago and I'm hoping they'll have Dash eventually ;)

I still hope they do release the Rarity & AJ someday, though it's been so long since those prototypes were seen I'm not sure I should still be holding out hope. I did notice the Pinkie & RD ones have returned to TRU recently though. I think the Dash one is lighter blue than the one I've had since 2011. Maybe that means new production?

Agreed. Rainbow Dash is the brony mascot I assume. Every time you see anything MLP is usually has brony on it and rainbow dash. Not always but usually. It would be nice to see other characters. I did see a neat Zecora bag at Toys R Us and thought about getting it but I didn't want to be labeled as a brony, I just like Zecora.

I am SO sad that those two were never released. They were the two characters (my favorites of the main 6) that I was really looking forward to getting!! I see RD and Pinkie Pie everywhere now. I couldn't imagine that they're not selling well. I think my MiL got me one from Rite-Aid recently. And they're at Hot Topic, TRU, and the original PP and RDs I got were from Five Below.
Awesome, never to be released stuff makes me sad ... Like those adorable pearly G4 flower fillies ...

I was hoping for these for a while, too. The RD/PP ones were the first pieces of merch I picked up before getting sucked into the BBs, brushies, and Funkos. I loved how nice their molded hair looked and their keychain parts were easy to remove. I would've gone nuts for AJ but especially Rarity...

Same. Unbelievably I'm stuck with a Rainbow Dash keychain :/ ( I got her after my birthday when the shelves were wiped clean do to Christmas) I would kill for a Rarity keychain :P I love Rarity more than Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. I hate it when Hasbro gets our hopes up :(

Just looked all around for them- looks like they aren't popping up for sale anywhere online yet, so I'll have to TRY and be patient and hope that at some point they appear on Amazon or somewhere like that...
I want a crystal pony set !!! Does anyone by chance have a picture comparing them with a playful size or blindbag size? I get the idea that they are bigger than blindbag- right ?

I'm going to put a pair up on eBay in about twelve hours, unless someone wants to tell me a compelling offer in the meantime... they're definitely cute, though I'll admit to being a sucker for Rarity's tail so I may not be the most unbiased of judges. Not much taller than blindbags, but significantly thicker and longer. Here's all four of them together, with a little bit of watermarking to prevent false advertising woes:

I got a Pinkie Pie keychain yesterday and the smell of the plastic is absolutely retched. Has anyone else noticed and, if so, know of a way to counteract it (or does it simply dissipate over time)?

They do stink at first but just give them some air and the toxic chemical smell will disperse...
I'd love to buy the AJ and Rarity, but don't want to pay much more than about $8 a piece for them.

I found some today, I was completely surprised to see them:) Grabbed an extra set and popped them on ebay. Starting price fair if anyone is looking;) I really like Rarity and hope they make more!

I love how Rarity is completely clear! Applejack looks great too,these need to be mine xD Are these keyrings available in the UK? I can't say I've seen them but they were originally released before I started collecting.

I've got lots of great stuff to trade (any of the black funko minis) and would also buy them from ya at a more than fair price. I'd rather not get engaged in a bidding war on ebay though.

I love that they went through the effort to mold a separate piece of mane so they could print both of Rarity's eyes. I also have half a mind to buy a 2nd Rarity & some stained glass paint & customize her with a translucent purple mane/tail!

I don't know if the new keychains are just taking their time in showing up to different places or what. Maybe I am going to the stores when they have sold all their stock of the keychains--not sure. I just wanted Rarity.

as far as TRU, I think some of the stores still have the RD/pinkie pie and they won't order more, reason might be, that they have the same item # :(, so the TRU close to me is stuck with the old ones, and the other one had them and they have not re stock them so far .
I was lucky to get a complete set of all 4 of them in their new package .

The first time I saw the rainbow-packaged keychains was a couple months ago, and they only had Pinkie and RD(lots of them)!
I haven't seen any since then.

I saw them the other day too and this thread came to mind, I didn't buy any but they did look pretty good. It's refreshing to see a little bit more Applejack merchandise in stores.

And you know, here's this theory I had: the reason nobody can seem to find Rarity and Applejack at this point is that they didn't make any more. The ones that showed up in stores were the exact ones made in 2011 before Hasbro decided against releasing them. Then Hasbro decided to make some metallic keychains, and on the way there, noticed a bunch of crystal ones lying around and stuck them in cases for a one-off release.

They weren't made a long time ago, either, or they wouldn't have the current Rainbow Power themed packaging. I think the reason AJ & Rarity are harder to find is a combination of two things. First off, I don't think that the stores are ordering too many of these now because they still have plenty of the Pinkie and Rainbow Dash ones, which are the same to them (same stock number) since they're part of an assortment. They'll see they still have x number of them in stock and won't order more. The second problem is eBay scalpers. I've been seeing the AJ and Rarity keychains pretty regularly on eBay and they're always for ridiculously high BIN amounts. I think the combination of there not being many stocked in the first place and the eBay scalpers is making these really hard to find.

Well, s/Hasbro/Basic Fun/ then. :P And the packaging doesn't need to have been made at the same time as the figures. Can't find too many such listings in eBay, or at least not in 2014, but I may be using the wrong search. They're definitely scalper fare, tho. I bought two pairs for a reason.

Yeah; I reckon the assortment, same product number are probably largely to blame as well. Its something we see a lot with regular ponies of course so its not surprising if it stretches into merch as well.

Noooo!!! I really hope that isn't true...I must have the beautiful CRYSTAL Rarity. I don't like the metallic ones. :(

I really really really really want the AJ and Rarity keychains- I am totally willing to pay twice as much as they cost- plus shipping- but the only people selling them want to scalp them at 200% of their original cost. So disappointing :cry:

I've checked my local TRU at LEAST 10 times just for the Rarity keychain and always come out empty handed. :( It's looking like I'll never get one, sigh.
If anyone ever finds some at their TRU and would be willing to pick up an extra for me, please let me know!

These are the same crystal ponies as before, not metallic ones. They have just been given new packaging.
I have picked up 1 Rarity and 2 AJ's, and left 1 AJ at the store. My Rarity and 1 AJ have been spoken for, but I have 1 AJ left unclaimed and there's one at the store as of now. If anyone wants to trade, pm me. :)
