So I've seen the same Takara catalog that every Takara enthusiast has seen, and obviously not all of the products in said catalog made it to production.
But I have always hoped against hope that those two adorable Takara plushies pictured inside DID make it out into the world. These are the ones I mean:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
Anyone know anything?
Also, I should also mention (as long as I'm geeking out over Takaras) that I have longed to own an adult takara pony for years. If ANYONE has one for sale, either MIB or loose, please PM me.

I would quite happily trade a kidney for one of those. My kidneys aren't in that good shape so I reckon I'd be the one with the bargain LOL

ARGHHH they're beautiful. I've got absolutely no money until after Christmas, but I'm hoping to start a (obviously small haha) Takara and Takara fakie shelf at home :)
But back on topic, I've never seen one of these girls online, or heard of anyone having one :( But who knows, there might be someone in Japan who has a whole lot of these in a cupboard somewhere....we can dream haha :)

I have thought of making a replica, since I make plush animals myself. But god I would love to own the real thing. I mean...someone did take a picture of these things, so at least two of them exist somewhere...right? Does anyone know what happened to the prototypes (of any of these products) that were used for the catalog photos?

I think I just died of cuteness. :lovey: I adore Takaras, they remind me of Sanrio characters. I hope at least one was made, they're too cute not to be!

Sadly most prototypes end up in the bin :( the odd few that have turned up has usually been recused from bins by employees.

I'm at least glad that the adult Takaras got made. I am poised right now to buy two authentic babies...but an adult is what I have really been craving for years now. It is my ultimate, ultimate grail.

Out of interest, what would everyone class as a fair price for an authentic Takara baby, and an authentic adult? I'm clueless when it comes to prices for these, as they come up so rarely!

Bronycraft, I am about to pay $1600 for a pair of authentic takara babies. Adults can reach $4000 easily, if they are MIB. Though I have seen them go for between $2000 to $3000 as well.

I could basically make them, in that I could make ponies from a similar material with pretty much that exact pattern.
The hair, though...I would need to special order it and learn how to properly attach it to the fabric. Might take a few tries. hair like that would cost around $25 total, for both ponies. Plus all the lace. I would want to make it look good.
$100 would be a good price for me, I think. Though if you went to the "want to buy" forum, you may find someone willing to do it cheaper--who knows?

how big do you guess they are?
if i would make some, i would make them about 20/25 cm high and use about maybe 5 hanks of hair.

would you want it also in a short furry plush fur? it looks precious, but these kind of fabrics are very expensive. very very expensive.

The pattern would be really simple for these since they're basically just like a sitting teddy bear with a roughly oval head. Maybe I'll try my hand at it, given my oodles and oodles of time due to unemployment >_<

They are pretty cute! The Takara stuff is so hard to come by, there's still a lot we don't know, so they could turn up, but wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.

MLPforever: Unfortunally 100USD is a bit to much for me at the moment (Im just a student ^.^), but I would love to see if it can be done! I have just started an advent auction-thread in nirvana sales and depending on how it goes, I might just be able to afford one of those plushies! :heart:
