That's a pretty high price to ask for that pony, but certainly not the highest I've seen. There are multi-thousand dollar ebay listings all the time, either because the pony is worth that much or because people are just asking crazy amounts :P

Just the actual plastic ponies, or can we present all kinds of MLP merchandise? The highest pony I've heard of was a MOC Mimic asking for a solid thousand dollars at the Fair just past.
If you're accepting merch, a couple of years ago the FiM fanbase was so desperately starved for high quality, show-accurate stuff that good customs went for literally thousands, especially quality plushies. I still remember watching the life-sized Rainbow Dash plush auction finish and being astounded that it climbed to nearly $5000. And there was a very popular artist doing amazing Gala outfitted plush that sold for big bucks, like this Rainbow Dash (http://www.tomopop.com/this-is-a-2-275-handmade-rainbow-dash-plush-22369.phtml) for US $2,275.00, and this Fluttershy (http://mlp.derpynews.com/fluttershy-plush-sells-for-2500/) for US $2,475.00! Fast forward two years later and here we are, with Build a Bear and 4th Dimension producing similar look/quality* of plush for only $25. :lol: How time flies, how long it takes for Hasbro to implement product lines that cater to what buyers actually want.
(*The BaB and 4DE plush aren't truly on the amazing level of these handmade OOAK items, but they're probably as close as mass-production companies are ever going to get.)

A MIP Rapunzel sold on eBay this year, I believe she reached over $1,500... I have seen higher priced ponies though!

The highest price I've seen was that MOC Mimic at the Fair that prancingstag mentioned. I can't remember who for the life of me was selling it, though. I passed by it several times and had to refrain from drooling as I walked by. :P

The highest price I ever saw asked was for a "rare greek Sudance, very unusual because she was released in 1984 but her hooves were dated 1983" (note, she was Hong Kong made but for sale in Greece). The seller was asking either £9999.99 or £19999.99, I don't recall exactly which but either way it was insane and provided mild amusement here for a while.

Ahhh, it makes me laugh when people ask for insane prices for ponies. A woman contacted me on Gumtree, and said she had a big lot of ponies for sale, and wanted about £150 IIRC? She sent me a picture - it was the baitiest 7-8 ponies I have ever seen...I think there was a Lemondrop, Blossom, and maybe a North Star in there, so nothing special or rare, but she was convinced they were worth it.

That's Version A Minty and that's pretty much what she's worth. She's a pricey girl since she is a factory prototype and will not be released (Version B is released in the Midnight in Canterlot set).

I saw that MIB Rapunzel and watched the auction all the way through. She went for almost $1600. Next highest was Thailand variant Ice Crystal for almost $700

I so wanted that MIP Rapunzel but I was the runner up o well maybe some day. I do have the MIP mom and baby set and MOC mimic and MIP greek easter candel. one day I would like to get all the mail order MIP only 2 away now Rapunzel and sweet scoops.
