Oooh, I love ornaments. I'm so on the fence about applying for this swap! The brag thread from last year was awesome. Temptation...
Darn... I forgot to fill out my other form today. I'll have to do it tomorrow :)
Are these to be store bought ornaments only? If we are crafty can they be home made?
Thanks!
If someone has said they only like glass ornaments and you can't blow glass, then only including crotchet items would be kind of a let down to them.
They already have tons up at World Market and Hobby Lobby.
Hand made ones can certainly be included. They can even be included as part of the value of the swap if you would normally sell said items/ are really talented (I mean I wouldn't count anything I made to value because I have no talent). But, keep in mind that people have themes. If someone has said they only like glass ornaments and you can't blow glass, then only including crotchet items would be kind of a let down for them. Some people (like myself) love hand made items, so a box choc full of hand made personally for me items would be great.
I guess what I'm saying is, don't join expecting only to include handmade stuff, it will depend on your partner.
Me too. And I'm trying to not buy a certain few for myself. Not that I think my partner would get them, but that I really don't need to spend any money on myself right now.Heh. Story of my life haha!
Oh and I wanted to let some people know about a great place that has Christmas stuff all year round. Its in Indiana called Santa Claus Land. Its a whole town that is a Christmas Theme all year round so they have some neat stores probley online too. The candy is to die for there!
I cant believe how popular it is this year:) there is still ages left to sign up too lol
Oooh, I just remembered that every year, Chicago has a German Christkindlmarket. They sell lots of unique holiday items there. I've always wanted to go and now I have the perfect excuse! :yippee:
4. What candy do you like or dislike?
Not too picky, but I do have a Gluten Allergy. So, no licorice. Unless there's a GF licorice, in which case, I'll love you forever.

I have gluten sensitivity too! Sorry, it's just (oddly) neat to see someone else who has it.

I think there's a couple of us Gluten-sensitive ponies here. I've been gluten free since 2008 now, to the point it's mostly natural for me to go without those things, and it's been better for me, besides, because I learned to cook. Still, it crops up in weird sources, like licorice, it took me awhile to figure out why the licorice kept making me sick, hahaha.
So for those of you who have gluten allergies/sensativities could you provide a list of some approved gluten free goodies? Just in case I get one of you as a partner I want to make sure I can throw in some sweets that won't make anyone sick! :D
Reading all your answers I'm starting to feel like maybe I should still add things to mine. Is it okay if I do, since we haven't started yet?

You can add things at any point in the swap. It's just a guide to help people shop if they're having trouble picking stuff.
what a funny thread derailment. :) I have cut down on gluten a bit too. But mostly just the refined carb type. I would be one sad, sad panda with no gluten at all.
One thing I just remembered, for my partner: Please try not to send any heavy ornaments. Like the ones made out of clay/ceramic/other heavy material. We get a real Christmas tree every year and the branches can't hold onto any heavy ornaments without sagging. I'd love to display anything you send me, partner, so please try to keep them on the lighter side. :) I'll also put this in my original questionnaire post. When I lived with my parents they would rotate every year with the fake tree or real tree. My mom loved fake ones and my dad had grown up with real ones since part of our farm has pine trees and his cousins grow pine trees actually. I think the last time we had a real tree though was the one that one side was a bit heavier than the other and it fell at three in the morning...sooo many shattered ornaments.

Me too on the lighter ornaments are better. I also get a real tree and I have this one ceramic ornament that always gets shoved to the inside of the tree where there's a branch actually thick enough to hold it! Poor thing hardly gets seen. I would hate to have a swap ornament suffer the same fate! ;)
:D I just pictured a little panda crying in the corner. ;) Luckily there are being more and more yummy GF alternatives. Glutino's chocolate and yogurt covered pretzels are so yummy! And Pamelas makes delicious gluten free cookies!
I was at the Disney Store today, and they have some really pretty ornaments on sale. If only I knew who I was buying for. :silly:

Yup. They were $10 each if you bought more than one. Regular price $15. I nearly bought the Sally NBC and the Rescuers one. But I didn't. I'll be going to Disneyland in November. I wonder what they'll have there.
Oh maddie I wanna shop for you!!! Sooooo many neat Alice things!! :DHehe feel free to buy me things! I'm totally your partner...yeah. :lookround:

I saw they have a cute white rabbit one. I actually don't have him. Omg
Info sent! Just waiting for a reply...I'll fill out the form tonight when I get home ^_^ This was SUCH a fun swap last year!
I think everyone has it covered on the gluten free. And yes, on the gluten free peanut butter cookies! I make those too, the really simple ones!
I also have a gluten free macaron recipe that my mother has always made and then they turned out to be gf!
But yeah, Barley, malt, and anything that says wheat are all going to be contaminated with allergens. As far as being in the US, most brands are better at labeling their candies and whether they're GF or not, or they'll least say, "This product made in a facility that processes wheat, eggs, nuts. . .etc. . ." Which I try to stay away from anything that says that, it's important to know that while a lot of candies will not say they have wheat in them, gummies can be especially susceptible of being tossed in wheat flour to keep them from sticking to each other and the conveyor belt. . . Otherwise known as the Dorito's effect, though I believe those are now marked as GF and they've eliminated that practice.
And we are now at 26. I am definitely putting a number cap on this at 30 now. :P
Do you have room for one more???Yes! What kind of swap would it be without you! :pillow:
A cap means we get to start sooner, right? Once we hit the cap, it'll be partner time and shopping time, right?!

I went antiquing today, and oh baby, the Christmas stuff is already out and I'm thinking I don't want to miss all the good stuff! XD
( I did find ponies today! G1's! And a FSF! SQUEE! )
Ducks... are really not good pets indoors. I know they showed one on Friends and it was all the rage, but I have maybe 15-20 ducks and 10 geese, and we used to have to raise the ducklings indoors because we needed to keep them warm (now we have a brooding area in our barn for the babies) - but ducks are really smelly creatures. They are WET - they PRODUCE water, and I don't mean pee. Everything is wet around a duck. And they're such HOT animals, that basically, a duckling is a mini-smelly-sauna. They are more adorable than anything, lol - and if you do get one, get a male... females are incredibly LOUD - the males have the low rumbling "farty-quacks" the females have the super loud "WAAACCKK WAAAACKK" - you can tell what sex they are by their quacks when they're just a few weeks old...
Either way, you can have aduck without giving it an area to swim and be in water, but, they'll still find a way to be incredibly smelly and wet, lol and I could never do a "duck diaper" thing... lol
I apologize if that was offensive, I wasn't trying to be! I just meant, I didn't want you to think I assumed you were automatically someone bringing a duck in the house! But, seriously - duck diapers are sold here at local farmers markets. So... it's gotta be a thing.
I do have to add though, my goats have smashed through my front glass door to the house, so, I think they want to be indoor pets, lol
I need to find one of these world markets you speak of...
2 spots left :blink:Yay!!! :D
I love pony ornaments, but I hardly own any. There are heaps out this year too.
Yes Madhatterda there is a G3 Minty Ornament. Maybe more than 1, but Im not for sure. The one I have is really cute. I have Pinkie Pie, Sunny Daze, & Minty. Im always looking for more myself.Oooh I would love a Minty in my tree.
I know the wife has also wanted a cockatoo, but she doesn't have the time right now with school to mess with one enough. It's easier with the dogs because we both spend time with them and take care of them. Individual pets are a little harder. Like I would love to have a new pet rat mine died three years ago or a hedgehog. With the dogs and horses though it wouldn't be fair we just don't have the time.
Birds are pretty especially some house birds, but I like them more as a look don't touch. My mom has a small bird, but he isn't super friendly. She essentially lets him out to play them puts him up. She did get him older though and he had not been messed with. He likes her in his own way I guess since he will stand by her or hop near her but handling no.
Lol thread derailment.
I would also love to own a scarlet macaw. I love them. But we're travelling the world at the moment so most animals aren't a great idea. When we finally settle down it will be back on a farm with lots of animals.
I'm one of the few people here that isn't a cat person. I don't hate them though just not my thing. The wife loves (and I would have been ok with her having one gotta be fair me having dogs), but she is very allergic. We actually debated having a kitten to live outdoors though. She does ok if it's in the open air and they don't get all over her clothing. My mom has some barn cats and one had kittens. We picked out a cute one and was planning to get her after I had a chance to get her fixed and make her somewhere to stay at night (yet again I live far out in a field and roaming at night would be dangerous with the coyotes but not so much in the day). Poor little thing got in the road though which was odd considering most of the barn cats stay in the barn.I'm not a cat person either. *Ducks fakies*

This is srsly my last swap of the year. I said that for the mug swap but.... lol... I think I am addicted to swaps...
Hi my name is Sunshine, and I'm an addict.
This is srsly my last swap of the year. I said that for the mug swap but.... lol... I think I am addicted to swaps...Lol you and Mkia can start the swap addicts support group!
Hi my name is Sunshine, and I'm an addict.
Maybe we should start a swap for swap addicts? Wait wait... no no that's not how that works...
A 12 step Swap Recovery program? :drunk:
Already on my way to recovery!
I just realized, for the last like 3 months I've been doing nothing but swaps, lol... it's been so fun but, I have to slow down around the holidays or I'll go nuts!
Lol just remind yourself you have to buy presents for the people not on the computer as well during the holidays! ;)Haha true! xD. But really I'm done with my mug swap box (pretty much). So I just have this and the card swap :]
Well goodness Mkia maybe I'm addicted to swaps because lemme seeHaha well you trump my number then! I also have a secret santa swap with my nursing cohort IRL, but that only puts me at three xD. Haha...Sunshine, we have a new member to the addict group!!
I'm in the Halloween swap, but I have sent mine already it just has a ways to travel
This swap, the plushies swap, card swap (if I'm approved of course), and the swap on Blab.
Lol I really want to do the pony swap and MH swap, but these are def enough. I've told myself four at a time is a good max. I just make my boxes early. I also buy everything pretty quick if possible.
...somebody better fill this last spot... :freak:
I'm not buying anything off ebay this year to save on shipping money.I'm hoping to stay off ebay too!
I'm busy with swaps too. Mine are on the MH Arena and they keep me plenty busy. After the holidays, I plan on hosting Round 2 of Wings and Things swap.Lol, and I so wanted to join one of those! I just don't want to overwhelm myself with swaps and even though one of them is the card swap and not necessarily filling a box I try to budget my money around the holidays. When I added up all the swaps I wanted to join and how much it was and then figured in how much I would overspend...because lets face it I'm gonna overspend. :lookround: I had to tell myself no, lol.
I love swaps
Yay, thanks so much for welcoming me to the ornament swap. I just barely squeaked in, phewf!! I'll have my question answers up tomorrow. ^.^Yay! Glad to see you join us Lochnessmomster! :)
Ooh I need to get wrapping paper. Reminds me Walmart finally had pony paper for an almost regular price. I don't think it's Christmas though? I'll have to look. :freak:Just paint some santa hats on them and a beard and you'll be good to go :P

So this is my first swap... and I'm already beginning to feel like I may not be able to find ornaments related to what people have on their lists. We really don't have any unique stores where I live--- just the generic Walmart, Target, TRU, etc. The nearest Hobby Lobby is an hour away and the same goes with World Market. I want to avoid having items shipped to me... Maybe I'm just freaking out a little since I don't know who my partner is.
Eekkk... first swap stress!
Does anyone still see Third Degree Burn Blazin' Habanero flavored Doritos near them? They made them for a short time, probably the BEST and hottest ones I've ever had. Heck, I have 6 empty saved bags of them (lol) because I always wanted to find more of them, and never have...
Hmmm...I have not seen those around my parts in some time. I do know now though that if I see them I know what to get you :P

Don't fret yet nessy  Are you crafty at all? I know I like handmade ornaments :)
Maddie, my sister has that too. I think it's kinda cool, very interesting at least. :PHaha, I always freak people out when they see it. It's kind a "oh my god...what...did you do to your tongue?!"
I looove hot food. The hotter the better in my opinion. We made some salsa last year that almost killed my dad... That was not the intention... but what can I say, ghost pepper extract is a bit hot...
Oh I'm adding something to my list - my newfound favorite smell ever: PATCHOULI! Anything Patchouli my partner can find... I'd love love love!
So ready to get started now that I'm done buying for other Swaps.Haha I'm ready to get started even though I'm NOT done with other swaps xD

I didn't harass the shout box. Not me, nuh uh! :bateyes:No one has joined since yesterday. Who can we harrass to join so we can start this thing?Everyone!!! xD
^ This!!! Go mkia, harass the general pony populace and secure us another victim, er, um, I mean participant. Ya.

I would just like to know: What size is the tree That everyone has? If you would like to add that I would be grateful :) Sorry guys for extra work  I don't want to get a ornament too big if someone has a 2 foot tree.Huge trees for us  I'm not a huge garland fan, sorry. I have only silver garland on my trees, so I guess I'm a little difficult. On the upside, I LOVE Christmas!! I love pretty, shiny and colorful ornaments:).
Garland is something that I don't like thick, more like beaded garland, really small is what Im making. But not too much. Ive never put garland on my tree before because I don't like all the tinsel that comes off. But I don't think I would choose garland as a ornament, I geuss that it would be a extra for me to do is what Im really getting at.
Hey there! Lochnessmomster chased me in here with a broom...I mean, recommended I join you wonderful people in the ornament swap. So...I tossed in an application. Not sure if the spot was filled already, but hey, it was worth a shot. :)
Mkia, despite our best efforts, it was not our hard work that won us a new applicant, but we can be proud of spreading the word and the pre-Halloween Christmas cheer.Haha xD. Ahhh yes. I forget it's not even Halloween yet. Ah well! Christmas is my favorite! I'm excited! Lol
Alright we are filled up. RedLynx I will reply to you tomorrow when I'm on my pc. And I shall also get started working out partners. I am usually pretty quick, so if you haven't filled out the thread form, do it now. I will also add any questions that have been asked by you guys to the first post.Yay partners!!! :D
Garland as an ornament?
I am ok with getting garland as long as it goes with our theme. Even if I don't use it on my tree, I might hang it around our window! We live in an apartment, so I decorate the heck out of our front window that faces the street, so having some nice decorations for the inside would be nice for a change! :P
We usual just do the tree and then hang out millions of stockings (me, my SO, our five dogs, five guinea pigs, two rats). Yes we are nuts, thank you. haha xD. But I feel like this year I may want to add some extra stuff!
Lol too many twinkle lights = fire hazard xD. But I'd expect the risk from you, Emberfly!! I've seen what you put your fish through during Christmas!! :haha:
Mkia, what's left, you've got a tree that loaded, stocking all over the house... I know... you need more garland and twinkle lights. One can NEVER have enough twinkle lights.

Hey now!! I didn't cast their faces or anything! Lol. It was a paw! And don't make me show everyone what you did to poor Holly!
Horatio loved his tank being dressed up as a reindeer. He told me so. You, on the other hand, cast your puppies' paws in plaster. Isn't that some form of animal cruelty? Hmmm? :P

Heh  oops! Sorry!
Go ahead, I won that photo contest. :P And with that, we're derailing the thread and not including the others so we must apologize. I'm sorry.
I do acutally love your puppy paw ornaments. :)
I'll have to see if I can go find my original post...
As for garlands, I don't really use them on my tree, but I love the idea of putting them in the window! O think I would prefer an ornament over a garland for the swap tho, unless my partner made me a garland with ponies on it! ;)
We always get a real tree, as big as we can afford which is usually about 6 or 7 feet. Someday I will have a house with a huge entryway and get one of those 30 feet Christmas trees! :D
wow guys I go to bed and wake up to 4 new pages of chat:) cant wait for partners and emberfly you dressed you fishtank up? I want to see pics lol xxHaha! She did. As a reindeer. It's cute. :P
Aww it's cute to have stockings for everyone. My wife used to have tons of gold fish in bowls around the house, and we pinned mini stocking above the bowls. :lol:That's adorable xD. The doggies have regular sized stockings, but the guineas and rats have the mini ones xP. Cuz theyre tiny. But we always get each animal a toy or something for christmas. We don't have kids, so the animals get spoiled!
Marigold: she bought them new bowl decorations. She had one that loved to sleep in little castles and stuff. She hasn't had fish since we moved, gave them away afraid they wouldn't survive the travel. What she doesn't know is she is getting an aquarium for Christmas. I mean I didn't say anything. :lookround:Awww how nice of you to get her a fishtank for christmas! :]
Mkia we do that as well since we don't have kids. Cobi has a stocking I put her name on and Cobi has a poodle stocking. They get gifts usually a dog bed for Suki since she sleeps constantly and new chew toys for cobi. Sadly poor guys I think this year Cobis present is surgery and Suki gets her teeth cleaned. We are such fun moms. :drunk:
Haha xD. My SO's birthday is in November, then we have Christmas, then Valentines day, then my birthday is April 1st, then our anniversary is May 2nd. Lol. Then we have a big span of nothing from may to november haha.
Lol holidays are wild here because we have Christmas, her birthday is in January and then valentines day and March is one of our anniversaries. I get all present buying worn out.
**Pics of decorated fish tank?**
**Pics of decorated fish tank?**
Ok, since you're all asking, but it's really not that decorated.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
Haha that's cute! I'll have to show my wife, course then she might go all crazy and get tons of decorations for her fish next year. :P
Those antlers remind me of my sister's car. Her car has a mustache and eyelashes.

Just working on partners now everyone.Yay!! :)
Oh no, Sunshine. I am two people away from sending you your partner, and I've reached my pm limit. There's a pm limit??
I could probably email people, but just so I have everything together I'd prefer not to. Only 8 minutes and I can pm again.

xeevee, that's hilarious! Who knew there was a limit on pms
Shhhh...I didn't forget to answer them and have to go back and edit. :silly:Ohhhh xD. I sometimes forget to answer my own questions lol
Ok, this is tormenting me because I see this word all over the arena. What in the world does fandom mean? Sounds odd. It's just a collection of fans. Like, a kingdom of fans. Fan-dom.
Would you like a pony ornament? If you would like one would you prefer a handmade one or a store bought one or does it matter? If store bought would you mind a G4 one?
I have G4 ornaments already. Im missing some G3 ones. I like homemade stuff, but not too much on the homemade ponys unless its a bushwoolie :)
When it comes to extra stuff would you prefer like candy and little trinkets or would you like a smaller ornament or tree decoration piece instead?
Little trinkets or somethign small would be good. I love candy canes, but I cannot really eat candy anymore, so I guess none of those. -_- All of this is what I would say. Candy normally gets given to my daughter unless I really like it  Im not a picky person and will be happy with whatever :)
Sooo essentially people who all like something fall under a label? Well that's not cool, I don't think I like that. Oh well now I know. Thanks!Ok, this is tormenting me because I see this word all over the arena. What in the world does fandom mean? Sounds odd. It's just a collection of fans. Like, a kingdom of fans. Fan-dom.

Ah Tiff since I cannot eat candy and sweets when I get them my wife eats them. Lol, she gets excited about my boxes for the sweets.

I dunno, I never consider myself part of the MLP "fandom"...
Pass, I'm really not into Disney much. :)
Incense: If you can find Patchouli - then yes yes yes yes!Lol what is that?
Pass, I'm really not into Disney much. :)
Those words don't make sense configured like that
Patchouli is a smell... it's usually like an oil they extract from a plant... I don't really know a ton about it myself, but I absolutely love the smell. I've ebayed it - they do make it in sticks, I just haven't found any in person yet.I don't know why but every time I smell Patchouli it makes me think of High School, which was a very long time ago  I had a friend who wore it so maybe that's why. Anyways there is a little town here in Ohio that they call Little Italy. It's an urban Italian neighborhood with shops, art galleries and fine restaurants. There is also shops that carry Tarot Cards, Crystals and the likes and I have found it sold there before. Do you have any shops like that around you?
Has anyone actually bought anything yet?
Partner, if you could pick one ornament that you've seen in store/online to receive in this swap box, which would it be?
I don't know how you guys do it, being in a bunch of swaps at the same time. I commend you.
I myself can only keep up with one at a time.
Uh oh Mkia you alright?Oh yeah!! :). I'm a nursing student haha. NICU stands for neonatal intensive care unit. I was helping with births and taking care of babies all day lol.
I might have went to Hobby Lobby and spent $50 on ornaments (not just for my partner, but lol I did get a slew of them for my partner). Oh goodness are the questions going to be added to the front page? Afraid will fall behind. You're not supposed to shop for yourself silly!! xD. And I think xeevee is keeping them updated on the front page.

Just fuzzy wee ones for me xD. And other people's babies...love them haha. But I hope you never have to see the NICU...we want healthy babies! :] Wow! You're getting closer and closer!Uh oh Mkia you alright?Oh yeah!! :). I'm a nursing student haha. NICU stands for neonatal intensive care unit. I was helping with births and taking care of babies all day lol.
I was wondering the same thing. Thought maybe you were there visiting your own wee bairn. So glad everything's okay. I'm actually pregnant myself and due on December 8th so it makes me smile to know there are people out there who are doing what they can to help out the little ones. ^.^

You're getting closer and closer!Uh oh Mkia you alright?Oh yeah!! :). I'm a nursing student haha. NICU stands for neonatal intensive care unit. I was helping with births and taking care of babies all day lol.

I'm going to be crafting several of the other ones... But oh boy, my thumbs hurt soooo bad, as two of them are sequined ornaments, and I'm about 50% done with the sequin work on the first, but now I'm out of pins! NOOOOO! XD I'm pretty sure I have more, just can't find them.
I'm not terribly afraid of them or anything, though I have to say that I don't really see the connection between spiders and Christmas.
I'm not terribly afraid of them or anything, though I have to say that I don't really see the connection between spiders and Christmas.
There are multiple traditional Christmas legends about them from the Ukraine, Germany, and Poland. Some of them are religious, some are not. You can weave it (get it?) any way you want. I first learned of the legend from my mom who is German. She told it much like this:
A kind but poor daughter used to spare the spiders when she cleaned the house. She would allow them to run off so she could do her work, but they could come back. Her mother was always scolding her for it. That Christmas the family had a particularly bad year and would have no money for gifts or to decorate the tree they cut from the woods. They barely had enough to eat! The spiders saw this and decided to do something nice for the daughter. They spun webs all night long and in the morning the family woke up to a tree covered in webs. At first the mother was angry, but as the light of morning hit the tree the webs turned to silver and gold and the family rejoiced.
My mom's version was not religious and I liked it because I like the idea of being rewarded after being kind to even the littlest creatures. But you can read all sorts of other versions that tie into the Christmas season in different ways if you google "The Legend of the Christmas Spider".

I thought that was standard swap host protocol... you know, one of those sticks from MIB sent to you when you sign up to be a host? :lmao:

I just want to point out that Marigold's ornament isn't a big furry tarantula or anything either. It's a pretty thing. I think you'd have the be pretty bad with spiders to be bothered by it.I would fall into that category. I'm am extremely afraid of spiders. My dad and uncle would put spiders in my bed and then toy snakes in the bed (I'm assuming if they could catch a real snake and it not bite me they would have used one of those). Yes, I'm extremely afraid of spiders. It doesn't matter how pretty something is a spider object freaks me out. Bad memories, cannot touch it someone else has to get rid of it for me soooo yep I might be the only one on that part. No offense to anyone just answering the question to be perfectly clear. Spiders=no
Oh and the latest questions have been added to the first post.

congrats lochenssmomster! I'm pregnant with my fourth too! But I'm not due until April 5th, so I've got a ways still. I've got two daughters with birthdays around your due date, one on the 7th and one on the 10th (and my hubby is on the 18th, talk about a lot going on during Christmastime :P ). I hope your pregnancy finishes off well! That end part is tough! I'm trying to enjoy not feeling like I'm about to burst for as long as I can.

Hahahahaha xD. That's awesome. I mean...in retrospect of course. Not at the time lol.
I don't believe it, Maddy, you just made my dad look nice when it came to teasing me with spiders. As a wee one, I'd ask him to get rid of the spiders I'd find in my room or wherever. His response was to think it was funny that I was scared of such a little thing and chase me around the house with it saying 'it's so little, how can you be afraid of it' as I'm running through the house screaming. Thanks dad, for helping me get over my childhood fear of spiders. -_-
Lol if it makes you feel better when I was five my dad chased me through a toy store with a plastic snake. Mom said I screamed bloody murder an ran away from them in the mall dad chasing me. They apparently had people calling services thinking he was some kiddie grabber or something. Lol that's what you get dad for being mean! :lol:I would fall into that category. I have no idea. I also don't realize why they think scaring the fire out of you with something will cure you.Hahahahaha xD. That's awesome. I mean...in retrospect of course. Not at the time lol.

How is that awesome! I have a phobia of spiders now. Sometimes I'm better at dealing with them than others, it's usually directly proportional to their size.
And Maddy - that'll teach your dad for scaring you like that. Why do they think that's funny? That's what I don't get.
Did your dad ever take you snipe hunting? Mine did. Lol, I think my young self was just someone to torture. -_-
Bahahahaahha!!!! xD. I remember snipe hunting...so terrible when it's you...HILARIOUS when it's someone else xD. Tehehehe. Don't tell her Maddie!!Did your dad ever take you snipe hunting? Mine did. Lol, I think my young self was just someone to torture. -_-
No, it was pretty much just the spiders for my dad, and we didn't hunt but he'd make fun of killing the gophers when I'd get upset that the cute animals were being killed. It was mom who explained why they were bad in a ranching community. Why couldn't he just do that and not make is seem like it was fun to kill furry creatures? What was snipe hunting like?
Lol Mkia you silly thing! Pffh I cannot help myself but tell. It's humorous as an adult, and I've done it to people. Totally though not fun when it's you. :lol:Haha I remember doing it at camp in high school. We'd leave the person there, then sneak back around and scare the pants off them. Totally fun...but not when it's you lol.
I have a phobia of moths...
They are much less scary than spiders, but yet, I am petrified of most of them. Most = not the tiny ones.
I can handle looking at the huge ones, but if it's alive and flapping around I will scream, shake, and potentially throw up... :yikes:
My fiance still threatens to throw moths at me that he "removes" from our house. I'm one of those people who is like, "OMG I HATE IT! But please don't kill it!" :P
I actually don't mind bugs with the exception of butterflies and moths. I'm also on the fence about dragon flies but they're tolerable if they're a good distance away. Spiders are okay, I never let my boyfriend kill them when I'm around (he's kind of scared of them.) I usually just pick them up and put them outside. I think they're quite useful for getting rid of any mosquitos that happen to be around the house. I also have a special place in my heart for bees. :heart:You pick them up?!?!? Oh no Dx. I don't want to kill them, but I certainly don't want to touch them either lol
I'm not necessarily afraid of silverfish, they're just kind of gross-looking. I just looked up what a Palmetto bug was and those are pretty gross-looking too. I may have seen them around before but didn't know what they were called. Oh, and I just remembered that I don't like junebugs either. They creep me out when they fly.
Do you guys think it would be frowned upon if I answered all the questions but instead if having them scattered I put them on the swap tab on my site in my sig?
Agreed. I put all mine in one post and link it in my sig for every swap lol.Do you guys think it would be frowned upon if I answered all the questions but instead if having them scattered I put them on the swap tab on my site in my sig?
It actually makes things easier for your partner, so go for it.
Lol it would probably be easier if I made a swap thread and did that than editing my site since people have to sift through tabs. I shall do this momentarily.Agreed. Do you have kids/live with any kids?
Goodness, Maddie. You must be having a lot of ideas. So many questions. They are all on page one now.Do your kids wanna swap with my animals, xeevee? Hope you find a partner! I love the childrens swap brags.
And off topic to those of you with kids who might be interested. I'm trying to find a private swap partner/partners for my kids for a holiday toy swap if anyone is interested.

What a lovely boy, Doe, so cuddly! ^.^
Lol well if your daughter wants to do a small swap with my doggies, let me know xP. They don't say no to treats and toys and sweaters haha.Do your kids wanna swap with my animals, xeevee? Hope you find a partner! I love the childrens swap brags.
Lol, that would be funny. I actually think my daughter would love swapping presents with a dog. But it's not exactly what I have in mind.
I hope I find someone too. It would be sad not doing it this year. :(
Hehe I do have some special stuff planned Xeevee mostly I like to make stuff for Christmas. I just want to try and make my partners box fun. I've already wrapped the ornaments and with so much extra time while I practice for the plush swap I'll be in my craft from a lot.Holy moly xD. You've already WRAPPED??? You're way ahead of the game, Maddie.
Is it bad that I am seriously debating on putting up my tree? :lmao:

No, I want to do that, too. Just a few more days, less than a week, and you can put up your tree. As far as I'm concerned, Christmas can start as soon as Halloween is over! You can do it, mkia, just a few days more. :) But if you just can't hold out, why not dress as a Christmas trer for halloween?

Well I can't wait to see what you come up with. I wish I was more crafty, but I decided learning to sew and cook would be un-feminist of me. D'oh! Stupid 13 year old me. I used to make cards, but I haven't in so long. Oh well.Is it bad that I am seriously debating on putting up my tree? :lmao:
I'd have my tree up all year around if I could.
The fetchy cat is! Tica Thai to be precise. Aka traditional siamese. ^.^ Meezers are the BEST. They require a long nerve from the owner being half-dog-half-monkey, but they give so much! :lovey: Here's one of my Gizmo from a couple months back.

I really should take some more up to date photos of him, but it's only possible when he's asleep. :freak:
My 13yo self was a little messed up about what feminism was. I can cook pretty well. And I'm fine with baking, but it's all self taught. Sewing and knitting I am terrible at. I ca fix a split seam, and knit a scarf and that is it.
This is our snowshoe mix Lilly, who thinks shes a dog. She's a teeny little nugget, tipping the scales at a whopping 5lbs.

Treats: Please nothing made outside of the US, or anything with lots of fillers. All natural, grain free please, as Vin has HORRIBLE grain allergies. No fish flavors for Lilly though, shes not a huge fan. Basically anything the dogs get, she gets. She refuses to eat cat food and cat treats. She does love catnip though.
Toys and other stuff: Lilly LOVES crinkly balls and feathers, Vinny loves socks, kongs and blankets, and Grace loves stuffed birds with the honker in them.
I say don't let your thirteen year old self keep you from doing new things. I try new stuff all the time so if there is something you want to do never too old to learn. I remember when I was a kid I took piano lessons with a sixty year old woman. She just wanted to learn and never did and her lessons were after mine.
Hmmm... if you have international you can ship whenever. Otherwise maybe hold off until mid November. That way things wont arrive way before people are ready to use them.Sounds good :). I'm not ready yet anyway, just wanted to know my timeline lol
However, if you forget and ship early it's no big deal.
I lost her unfortunately, about a year and a half ago, and far too early. It was a very traumatic experience, is all I can say. The cat was my child, and not a cat.
However, she missed the boat on the brains department, I fear. . .:lmao: I'm afaraid that's what has happened with Gizmo too. He's clever yes, he can open the cabinets to get to the treats, but if I put my jacket and boots on he's like "OMG who the heck are you!!??" and runs under the bed to hide.
I'm going to update my answers here in a minute. I've had a bad week of migraines and answering questions just seemed like too much work for my poor head. It was that bad. Mari! I know a certain something that is getting packaged up and shipped tomorrow that should make you feel better.

Dear partner, please forgive my absence in the swap thread. We've had a friend visiting from out of town and she leaves tomorrow, so we wanted to make sure she enjoyed her last couple days with us. Rest assured I will update my list of answers in the next day or two. :)

I was worried I scared you off!
Oh, and I'm curious Tiki, because you mentioned something about pickle ornament tradition? What is that?
It says that Germans hang a pickle-shaped glass ornament on the Christmas tree hidden away so it's difficult to find. The first child to find it on Christmas morning gets a special treat or an extra present.
Then we were in Frankenmuth at the Christmas store called Bronner's... (Michiganders will know what I'm talking about.) Basically its Christmas every day of the year there, and its just an amazing place to go and check out. Well, we found the pickle, and kind of thought, maybe its time to replace the jalapeno with something that wasn't going to dry up all weird. So we passed this ornament around for a few more months until Christmas actually rolled around, and someone found the story about hiding it on the tree. Thats when we realized that we're a bunch of wackjobs!

Oh that's like the almond in Christmas porridge! Here in Finland it's a tradition to have Christmas porridge which is rice porridge made in milk, served with sugar and cinnamon in the morning of Christmas eve (since that is our "big day", not Christmas day). One almond is put in the pot and the one who finds it will have a special treat or good luck for the whole year. :) Our mom has hassled the tradition though, and in our family there are so many almonds in the porridge that everyone should have the joy of finding one!
I have a Christmas pickle!! :biggrin:I have one too!!!
Geeez Mari are you scaring people off ALREADY?! :lmao:

I think if I were to go by candy now my box would be good enough to ship. But I think I might wait until due date because I'm going up to LA for Disney, Universal Studios and to see the Lion King right at the end of November and maybe that trip might yield something awesome to add.Ohhhh!! That's be so neat to include in your box!! I'm going to go see lion king on the 10th here! Bought the SO tickets for her birthday. I'm so excited! I've heard it's awesome!
Xeevee Im sneaking in your suitcase :ninja: Don't open it until you are there at the park!I'd be happy if Christmas puked in my house haha
Im finally done shopping! I hope lol for now! Now putting everything into a box and making it pretty and all fit perfect is the hard part. I may need another box. :wonder:
I do feel sorry for my partner, when they get done opening all the stuff it will look like Christmas puked in their house :silly:

That sounds a bit like the Mardi Grass king cake, Sugar.
About the pickle: Would you like a pickle as an extra? I mean an ornament pickle, not a real one.We do too!!! Oh boy, I thought it was just a strange family tradition. One year, I hit the baby figurine with the knife....unlucky me! My grandmother made the yummiest cakes (the only thing she made that was actually good!) and had this funny little old man-looking baby figurine. I think my cousin might have him now. My grandmother used to tell us that it was the baby Jesus watching over us for the year if we were lucky to find him in our piece of cake. Plus frangipane is one of the most delicious things ever, I love almonds!!!
We do the Christmas pickle... though with only one child in the house, it's really just for the fun of watching my son hunt like mad. ^.^ So no worries about tracking down a pickle, partner mine.
We also do Galette des Rois, a couple weeks into January - it's an old French tradition, with the most delicious cake ever (flaky puff pastry and frangipane, mmm-mmm!), in which is hidden a tiny figurine. The person who gets the slice of cake with the figurine in gets to be "king" for the day. Plus... frangipane... mmmmmm....
It's funny some of you are done already, I haven't even started... I usually shop early but... Sunshine is taking a new approach. :lol:Haha xD. I have spent like half the budget, then decided to wait until after Halloween to do the rest of my shopping. I want to check my Target for something, but they haven't updated to Christmas stuff yet. So I'm on hold right now xP

After spending nearly $50 shipping a single box today, I'm going to continue my wait to shop until Monday... >_< But I've been getting good ideas on what I want to get! ;)
Halloween is over, time for half price candy and the Christmas ornaments to take over the shop! Horray!Ohhh lucky! How'd you get those? Lol
Also, I have like 3 $10 vouchers for world market that I have to use this month. Guess where my extras are coming from.
One is a members only thing this month. One is because my birthday this month. And one is because I spent $100 and for every $100 you spend you get a $10 voucher.Holy moly, that's awesome!! :D Your partner is bound to be spoiled. World market has the coolest stuff!
Apparently I need to get in on this membership thing
Post Merge: November 01, 2013, 04:45:53 AMApparently I need to get in on this membership thing
It's really worth it if you go there a lot. And it's free. So unless you're opposed to them doing market research when you buy stuff, then do it.
I also have 6 fish tanks - one with live plants but my light is dying and so are my plants
my 2nd ornament arrived today ^.^ I got mine from ebay because the local selection is limited to places like walmart and target. Tp be honest, I find their christmas decor...UGLY
Omg! Siamese love! Mirnyj, are the two other kitties siamese too? I heard you said the one plays fetch. I have an oriental shorthair, which is basically just a non-pointed siamese that comes in all sorts of coat colors. Lovely, lovely animals, and I love how screamy they are. And demanding. And cuddly. Momo is currently cuddled up on my roommate looking pleased as punch.

I agree! I love what you found for me last year! You couldn't find pretty things like that at wal-gets. Although sometimes I do find things there I like a lot so it's a hit or miss thing each year. But they don't have the variety of hobby lobby or world market.
Post Merge: November 02, 2013, 11:02:52 AMOmg!
We had a Siamese. Supposedly pure bred blue point, but who knows. She was weird. She bawled when she wanted us to turn the faucet on for her to drink (she would not drink from her bowl, it had to be dripping water). But other than that she was a very quiet cat. She never wanted to be pet but she liked being "beaten". As soon as you pet her nice she'd get mad. She only curled up in moms lap, no ones else's. Although when she was very old she did start trying other laps for a few seconds at a time. She was very aloof and didn't want attention except the beatings. We'd paddle the ground and shed come running. So odd. I wouldn't get a Siamese again.
Give me a blue Russian or a tick tabby. :)

Do you like ornaments that are hand-crafted or made of natural materials such as fabric, felt, wood ... etc.?dosent matter
So sad! I would love to keep some aquariums, but just don't have space and money right now. I've heard live plants are kind of hard to keep, but I think that would be fun! (It's like underwater gardening in your house! :D )

Lol I'm in four swaps and Christmas shopping for the family. If I don't start getting things ready to go now I'll fall behind. :lol:I'm so jealous that you're ahead of the game!! I have a very good start, but I really need to find another good ornament or two. But WHAT to get lol
I still have a few more things to get, but they are small and waiting till I get paid. Lol
So...could you elaborate on things you like. For example, would you like things that are pretty but not themed? Such as glass ornaments that are beautiful and neat shapes but otherwise aren't painted with specific pictures or anything? Elegant simplicity?
I'm okay with just two ornaments. Especially if they are beautiful.
I'm going blindly on this one. I'm not sure I have a good gauge of my partner's style and interests. So...could you elaborate on things you like. I love stuff like that.
I love glitter covered plastic ornaments when it's done evenly and with quality looking fine glitter.

I've seen some really gorgeous plastic ornaments this year... honestly. And of course I was not asking about buying you guys cheap-o plastic crap from the dollar store... (really? I mean, did anyone think that was going to be in their swap box?)

Not at all!
I (and I am sure everyone else) was just trying to explain my preferences. I've also seen some very pretty plastic ornaments. Honestly there were some I thought were glass until I picked them up!
I'm finally done except for the card. I'm in four swaps and one is on the model horse forum. I had to buy boxes today for this swap and the other because none of mine are large enough. Omg I got the size right below large moving boxes an still had trouble getting stuff in there.Holy moly! Way to go Maddie! lol.
Partner, if you could pick one ornament that you've seen in store/online to receive in this swap box, which would it be?
I don't even know what that is xD. Like fruitcake?
Have you ever eaten one of those mini fruit mince pies?
If I could pick one ornament..?
Let me look into this some!
----
Mince Pies - I can't. Gluten intolerant. The crust would make me sick. I am sorry. :/
The best way I can think to describe it is like a minced meat pie, only fruit instead of meat. LOL. I don't even know if you'll know what I mean by that either.Shepard's pie?

It's $145 for just one. They apparently have Swarovski crystals in them and are all handmade. :dribble:
I'm having a small dilemma in here. I have way too many drawings for my partner and two ideas of how to use them. I could leave them without writing, they are postcard size and could be used as card for swaps or pony birthdays or whatever by my pair, or I could make sort of custom factfile of their favorite ponies with little writings for each pony. What do you guys think?

Shepard's pie is more like chicken pot pie, as I understand it, except with mill or cream in it and instead of a crust you put bake biscuits on the top of it. That's how I make it anyway, and I usually do ground beef and a mish mash of whatever veggies I have on hand and use Pamela's gluten free biscuit mix on top which is fabulous!
I am stealing Tikibirds image here. I have been wanting one of those vintage ornaments at the bottom. They can be found on ebay and they are called Jewelbright or Jewel Brite. So Tikibird's partner should search those words and possibly "lantern" to find them.Intersting. I searched for diarama and 3D ornaments. And I think vintage ornament as well.

I think either would be fine, but I personally think the idea of a fact file is awesome and unique.QuoteThe best way I can think to describe it is like a minced meat pie, only fruit instead of meat. LOL. I don't even know if you'll know what I mean by that either.Shepard's pie?
:lmao: no. I am doing a terrible job here!
So scrap everything I've said. Instead, think about the crust you'd get on a pumpkin or chocolate cream pie. It's like that, but it also has the crust on top, like an apple pie. Then the filling is dried fruit (including but not limited to, raisins, currents and dried lemon peel) chopped up very finely. That is soaked in brandy and spices and then baked into the crust.
If you order a mincemeat pie in Australia you'll be getting a hot savoury meat pie. Not a mince pie :P But I have heard it called that before.
There is no meat in mincemeat.
So much debate on a simple pie... :lmao:
So much debate on a simple pie... :lmao:
Clearly these are very complex little pies!!

The only shephard's pie I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot, has mashed potato on top. I wonder what regions do it with biscuit.
Sheppard's Pie? What is that exactly?
Sheppard's Pie? What is that exactly?
It's traditionally a midwestern casserole type of hot dish. As far as I know, there is usually a layer of vegetables (my mom always just used corn but it's often a succotash of veg), a layer of ground beef, and a layer of mashed potatoes.
My two cents' worth on the mince pies... in my family we always made a mincemeat pie for Christmas every year, and while it contained fruit such as apples, dried cherries, raisins, etc., there was also a bit of actual meat or meat flavouring. I never liked it, never never never. However, when we moved to Scotland, we discovered a completely new kind of holiday mince pie. They are rarely ever made in a large version, and almost always come in single-serving sizes. If you go to Tesco or Asda during the holidays, you'll have no problem finding a six-pack of mince pies. Our first Christmas in Scotland, I remember being disappointed that these mini mince pies were served at almost every holiday event. But they are actually quite different. For example, Tesco's finest mince pies are served in all-butter pastry crusts, topped with sugar, and contain "plump vine fruits, Amarena glacé cherries, almonds and walnuts, with Italian citrus peel and festive spices. Infused with Courvoisier® VS Cognac, French brandy and port." Maybe it's the alcohol that makes them so moist and delicious, I don't know... :P What I do know is that I am certainly going to miss having a mince pie or two this Christmas now that we're back in the States.
No, not really. The fruit inside is more like pie filling than tart filling. It has tart similarities, but it's more pie like than tart like. You do eat them cold. But you eat lots of pies cold.
The best way I can think to describe it is like a minced meat pie, only fruit instead of meat. LOL. I don't even know if you'll know what I mean by that either.
I am totally loving how no one has any idea what I'm talking about though. Except Wiccanpony of course, but I knew she'd know what I was talking about.
Dear partner, if I find an ornament close to what you like, but is simple, would you like me to decorate/paint it so that it more closely matches your tastes? - I am crafty and good with painting details.

Dear partner, if I find an ornament close to what you like, but is simple, would you like me to decorate/paint it so that it more closely matches your tastes? - I am crafty and good with painting details. ^.^
Thanks!!
Oh, and I think it was wystearya who mentioned not being able to eat them due to gluten allergies. Good news! They sell g-free mince pies, too. ^.^
I was at Macy's today and they were having a 40% off sale on their ornaments, which made most of them well within budget. I didn't pick up any for my partner today but I'll be heading back tomorrow. I want to buy their entire ornament collection for myself. They're all soooo beautiful when displayed on the trees. *sigh* This swap really just reminded me of how much I love ornaments. :heart:Macy's is one of my favorite stores, and I'm obsessed with their Inc line (I own a ridiculous amount of their dresses). I have a Macy's charge card, and get a discount on too of their sale prices, so it makes everything much less expensive. I'm headed there today to find myself a pick-me-up and I'll have to check out their ornament section:). They have some gorgeous ornaments!!
I do have a question, though... you don't heat up your pies? We almost always ate them hot, sometimes with brandy cream or vanilla ice cream, but usually just plain and with a cup of coffee or mulled wine.
er....I wouldn't care Sunshine! I don't mind at all:)
I have sad news.
I bought a box of small glass ornaments for my partner... and... well, a crazy kitten launched them off my desktop and smashed the box against the wall. It was epic, but sad, as one of the ornaments shattered. The rest of them upon inspection don't seem to have any cracks or anything... but the one took the brunt of the hit...
So now I have this little box missing one ornament... Do you guys think I should just take the ornaments out of the box and individually wrap them now that one is missing? It looks a bit junky with a missing space in the box but the box does offer protection and packing... Just want some opinions! Thanks!

That sounds like a perfect place to put some candies! I wouldn't mind at all.
Butttt NOOO Tinsel in my box partner!! :freak: Seriously I don't want my cats to die, lol...
all the questions are on the first page, Ice Crystal, if that helps.I just noticed them there haha. Thank you!
dear partner,Anything is fine with me!!
would you rather have lovely extra's or over-budget but perfect ornaments?
I used tinsel last year xP. And I used marshmallows for my mug swap package lol. Those are both great packing materials...I love marshmallows...yummy!
Im pretty sure I have answered all the questions but if I have missed one that you need answering partner then just ask xeevee to shout at me:) but I think im all up to date xx

I'm just a little concerned that if I do this it may give away who your partner is. So if you can at least check first, then if you still miss it I'll pm.
There are a few of you though.
I don't think there is a need to take photos of your trees/ ornaments if you don't have one available. I think the question was just so you don't end up receiving something you already have if you collect certain kinds of ornaments. But if getting doubles is something you don't care about, it doesn't matter :)That was my question, and yes I was worried about getting a duplicate ornament. But I went a slightly different route. So no worries if you don't have pictures, guys!!
@ MiRaja: I second what Marigold has to say about that crane ornament! I love origami, and that sounds too beautiful. ^.^I missed this.. but I agree - It sounds gorgeous!
I promise I'm going to update my questions momentarily. But I also have a question:
For those who are gluten free, can you post some favorite treats and goodies that fall into that category?
New question: Do you like Santa Claus?
Even at 32, I like and appreciate "Santa Claus" because that is the stipulation my father has made on receiving presents. But yeah, jolly old guy giving out presents and leaving with his payment only some milk, cookies, and the joy he knows will follow his visit? Good thing.
New question: Do you like Santa Claus?
We don't really do Santa Claus for the kids, but I like Santa Claus stuff just fine.

There is a place here called Imagination Avenue where you can go make your own soaps. They even have little things to put in them and shapes you can make the soaps and stuff. They also have pottery painting, cake decorating, and jewelry making.
I love bath stuff, especially when it's adorable.

I've been done shopping, I feel so bad that I broke the one ornament in the boxed set of ornaments... gerrgggg what an idiot I am. Or... the cat is, but I can't blame the kitty! :lol:I was thinking that maybe you should secure the rest of the ornaments in that box with some tissue paper or such. I mean if the cat managed to throw the box so that one of them broke, just think what the handling of the parcel could do to the rest.

I found an awesome extra for my partner today. :D I'm having so much fun with this swap because I actually get to shop in person. Most of the time, I have to shop online for ponies since all I've done are pony swaps. Shopping in person adds a whole new level of fun to it!
Lol I taped my partners box shut, so I will stop putting things in it! :PI may need to do this
I haven't even wrapped mine yet - I gotta go downstairs and wrassle out some holiday wrapping paper, lol! I have super cute stuff but it's WAAAYYYY in the back of the pantry down there...I haven't wrapped yet, either xP. But I did buy paper!

New question: Do you like Santa Claus?
I have a Santa that stands next to our TV, so I dont need any more of him. However, if you were to send something dressed up like him, or even some elves! OOH! Or his reindeer!
Exception to the Santa request: If you were to find the Santa from the 'Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer' movies, I'll take him any way you can find him. Or the Bumble, Yukon Cornelius, or Hermy the elf. You know what... Anyone from that movie will do.. For those of you who might not know the movie I'm talking about...

Fuzzy Socks? Would you maybe like a pair as an extra? (Holiday themed?) If so, what size are your feet? Sure! I'm a US size 10 shoe, but don't worry about the size of them. If they don't fit me, I have a pibble who would be more than happy to take them off my hands... This dog seriously loves socks.

*Sings* They call me heat miser, whatever I touch, starts to melt in my clutch! I'm too much!
I'm done shopping, but I'm making a few handmade things. So I'm not shipping for a while either. But I do kind of want to ship before Thanksgiving. We shall see xP.
My tree is already up  Ready for new ornaments! Haha. We did some new, more colorful bulbs this year.

Oh How darn cute is that! I love the colors! Im a bright colorful person myself. I love it! I have not got my tree up, Im shopping for another tree to just fit all my ornaments on there! I just cant find one that is not  So fake looking... so Im debating a real tree this year. I may try Hobby Lobby this weekend. I asked my Hubby if we could start decorating, He just stared at me  I would go ahead and start if I didn't have to get into the attic. And to get to mine you have to go outside and climb two stories on a ladder. I don't do heights. So until I can talk my Hubby into climbing up there and pulling 30+ totes of xmas stuff down my house will look naked.
All the other doggie stockings are on the wall to the left of the tree. I should've taken a picture of them. Ah well!
Wys, I'm sure there will be nothing much too important. If your partner does have a question they can pm me and I'll pass it on directly so you don't have to worry about checking in here too much.
Shipped this morningWoop! First shipper! Can't wait to see these boxes roll in!
Shipped this morningWoop! First shipper! Can't wait to see these boxes roll in!
I wrapped last night :). I still need to make a couple more things...then I'll post a teaser!
I'm sure your partner understands :]. I found a new craft that I've never done before...so I'm making it for my partner lol. I hope they like them.
I didn't end up making things for my partner like I thought I would. Mostly because I ended up buying so much stuff. I had another swap box I was going to ship today and at the post office I snagged the box corner on my car door. Ripped the box corner right off, so I have to hunt a new box today. For that swap (non arena swap) I did see my partner a scarf. This pony for the custom swap has all my attention though not to mention I'm making hat, scarf glove combos for my family.
Here's my teaser for my partner! I need to make one more thing and then it's ready to go!
I may have went a little overboard....

Stunning teasers! Can't wait until the brags start.
And Ice Crystal, people always blow budgets. I can't stop buying things for my partner when I'm out, and seriously I could probably have shipped a couple of weeks ago with everything I had then :P
:freak: I feel so behind! I'm sorry I won't be shipping so soon, partner. I am waiting for Christkindlmarket to get you a really cool ornament and it starts the last week of November. Luckily, I'll be shipping my package right after I go so I'll still make the deadline. Sorry that there aren't any teasers yet. I always feel like I'm slacking. D:

Don't worry Sandra, I made the shipping in December for the exact reason that people would be able to go to Christmas Markets for shopping if they wanted to.
I'm sure your box is worth waiting for! I was one of the last to receive last year (I got it on Christmas Eve! :)), but it was TOTALLY worth waiting for :). I was spoiled rotten. So don't fret!!
 I know. It's just so overwhelming for me to see teasers already. This happens in every swap I'm in, lol. I always feel farther behind than everyone. I swear, the next swap I'm in, I vow to post one of the first teasers!
Hopefully my box is worth waiting a little while for. :) I have my partners questionnaire almost memorized, heh. I've been on the hunt for the *perfect* ornaments I think they'd love.
Stickers?
I don't mind stickers. I usually find a use for them. :)

Hey guys..
So my youngest pup, Sheldon, got a vaccine last Tuesday. Shortly after that, he became lethargic and just wasn't feeling well. He would eat and drink, but would otherwise sleep all day. He started showing some neurological signs, like not jumping on the couch like he used to, and was walking a little odd.
My SO works at an animal hospital, so she brought him into work with her on Friday and the vet looked him over, gave him some pain med and said to watch him over the weekend.
Well, over the weekend he seemed like he was feeling a little better. He was still lethargic and wasn't walking or jumping normal. But he still seemed better.
This morning, he had an episode. He wouldn't let me touch him, and had no depth perception. He kept running into the table and wall. So I threw a blanket over him, scooped him up, and rushed him to my SO at work. He's there now, and the vets ran some blood and sedated him a bit to make him more comfortable. The bloodwork is normal, so we are still trying to figure out what's wrong with him.
Long story short, any good thoughts his way would be much appreciated. Our dogs are like our babies, and I'm really worried about him. If I'm not as active in the next few days, this is why.
 Thanks all!
*looks at the teasers with lots of pressies then looks at my 3 wrapped pressies and feels depressed*Don't feel bad Tiki. Quality over quantity to me always wins out. Also, I dunno about everyone else but I tend to overspend. Lots of times those boxes got bigger and bigger my accident. :lookround: I'm always like "you stop it items! Get out of that shopping cart!"
I think it will be better once I get the extras done.

Ahh... real life has been interfering with my Arena time! I feel like I've been gone for a while! lol
Ok, so my teaser kinda stinks:(. I promise the of you open will look better. Also, I'm really sorry my dear partner, but the wrapping job stinks. I mean, it really stinks. But, I had to bubble wrap each of your ornaments because they're all fragile. So in my defense, I had to grift wrap around the gratuitous bubble wrap  visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I have every intention of shipping out my partner's box tomorrow. I just sealed it up and it's waiting by the door! :) I really hope my partner likes everything! If you send priority, it includes $50 insurance, I believe.
Do people usually insure the packages when they ship them?

I did just incase anything shows up broken. I wrapped everything up pretty good, but there is only one thing I'm concerned about breaking... so I insured just to be safe. It didn't cost much extra either.
Thank you  And congrats on the baby!
Still, I do haunt the thread at least every day or two, even if I don't comment right away. Was so sad to read about your dog, mkia9. Sending a hug your way.
I've been pretty absent from this thread too, lately. I just have a lot of unexpected things going on in my life right now. But don't worry, partner, I've been shopping for you every chance I get. Tomorrow is the first day of the German Christkindlmarket here in Chicago and I'll be on the lookout for lots of goodies for you. Hopefully, if all goes well, your box might be going out on Wednesday!
I think I may need to take a break from doing anymore swaps for a while. I always like getting to know everyone on these threads but feel like I've just been a ghost for this one. :/
Happy Birthday Xeevee!!!
I hope you're having the best day ever:)
i am slightly saddened to learn that this idea of getting to know people was something done in these threads. i thought swaps were simply to spread random joy. though i can see how amazing it could be!
Well said, Marigold! :)i am slightly saddened to learn that this idea of getting to know people was something done in these threads. i thought swaps were simply to spread random joy. though i can see how amazing it could be!
Don't worry, swaps are both for just the joy of it, and for getting to know people. Sometimes you and your mystery partner click through the swap and other times you never really talk at all. Sometimes you make friends with other people who are not your partner, but sometimss you don't. But either way you get to send something that makes another person feel happy and joyful!

I think everyone has been kinda busy, at least I know the thread isn't flying through pages anymore. I'm even off work this week and don't have time to sit and post like I normally do. We have been working on getting things together for winter and putting underpinning up so the pipes don't freeze. I'm also sewing all my families gifts this year meaning I'm spending a lot of time in my sewing room. It's just that time of year where everyone is busy. >_<
Not me!Nor me!
Working on the last ornament now. They say it'll ice here on Rocky Top and I have yo go out early tomorrow... -_-
I'm getting the snow storm too!
Not me!Nor me!

It's funny because I almost never talk to my partner in the swap threads.
Thanks :). Yeah...I may run out of space at some point lol. I figured I could always expand over the top of my foot and up my ankle for new ones. Although the 10min tattoo on my foot hurt worse than the 2.5 hours on my back haha.
Cute tattoo Mkia. My wife always talks about getting tattoos for our dogs, but if I went that route I would run out of space. Too many pets.

oh i did not at all mean to imply that there was anything wrong with getting to know people! not at all. i just simply haven't had the pleasure of being in a swap where the chat thread was so lively, cheerful and, well, important.
A hugeeee box just showed up at my door!!!! :DHuzzah!!!!!
I have to leave in an hour Dx. So if I don't get the brag posted before then I promise it'll be up tonight!
Now to open my goodies!!! Woo!!
dear partner, your package is out for delivery!
Black Friday shopping makes me tired :drunk:
I look forward to seeing all these brags when I'm not sleeping
cate_dartfinger! my box arrived last night, well after dark, and mr. kaninchen could not resist tearing into it. you spoiled us rotten! i'll have a proper brag up soon! (even if the candy is long gone)
I sent out my package today, my partner should get it in a couple days!
As a reward when I got home there was a big box under my carport!! I won't be able to post pics until late tonight or tomorrow but a HUGE thank you to Sugar for my box! I am totally over the moon, it was such a generous and wonderful box! I am eager to post pics, I loved everything in the box!!
And soon I will be off to go pick up my hubby's Christmas gift to me, a new kitten! Today is a great day!
Sooo....partner you were supposed to get your box today. But USPS must be playing games. First it said it departed California (which is in the wrong direction) on the 28th...and now it says it was processed in California again. What the heck. *stomps foot* It had better get there!

LOL! That sounds like half the packages I send. I mean, why does everything need to take a 13+ hour drive south to mid Florida to go anywhere?

-_- Well CA is no where near my partners home lol. Sooo hopefully they figure it out. They may have misread a number on the zip code. I had that happen to a parcel being sent to me. It ended up going out for delivery in LA somewhere and then came back again, and then went to my house in San Diego.
Well, I haven't shipped yet, but I have a REALLY good excuse, I promise. It weighs 7lb, 14oz and is 20in. long. ^.^
Philip Douglas was born at 2:30am on December 1st. Hopefully we will be going home tomorrow and then I can finish wrapping and getting my partner's box sent out.
Mine is all ready to go for tomorrow too. I may have gone overboard... oops. Can't even take my own directions.Awww where did you get your wrapping paper? I saw Walmart has pony paper this year but still kinda expensive for me. I'm so cheap kind of a Dollar General/Dollar Tree wrapping paper person.

Please don't ship me a baby... :P:lmao: Me either! I do not know how to take care of one!!
I know how to take care of one, but no thank you lol. Now...fur babies...feel free to send me as many of those as you'd like! haha xDPlease don't ship me a baby... :P:lmao: Me either! I do not know how to take care of one!!
You want fur babies...OKaaaaaay. ;)Yuuuuuup. I'll take them all. Just make sure they have holes in the box so they can breathe! Maybe a little kibble and water, too ;)
mkia that is so frustrating... hopefully it'll get a jump kick back on track soon. Sometimes it seems like the tracking jumps around... I don't know if you can ask your local PO or would you have to try to call the one in CA? I feel like my post office is always so NOT helpful... :yikes:I have no idea...I'd probably start with my local PO and move to the CA one if they had no info.
I'll send you my dog babies for the next month. They are deciding to be extremely expensive! We just bought Christmas gifts for them and then the dogs are getting hair cuts this weekend...then Cobi has blood work to be done right before Christmas. I'm sure neither enjoys these gifts but whatever. :drunk:You want fur babies...OKaaaaaay. ;)Yuuuuuup. I'll take them all. Just make sure they have holes in the box so they can breathe! I love that wrapping paper RedLynx!!
:squee: that's great news mkia. I bet you feel relieved!Yes, definitely! Haha. Now it's just sitting on pins and needles waiting to see if my partner likes everything!
I recieved my box today from Mirnyj and OMG there are lots of presents for me to unwrap:) Im just leaving for work so all my lovely wrapped presents will have to wait till I get home. I just wanted Mirnyj to know it was here safe and sound xx Oh and the paper you wrapped the box in was super pretty I was sad I had to rip it lol xx
When I checked the tracking yesterday it said it was still in Kent!
QuoteWhen I checked the tracking yesterday it said it was still in Kent!
I think their tracking has gotten worse then it was before they "upgraded" it!
*spanks Sunshine's partner* :P
Well my package says it has left Warrendale, PA. That's a good sign cause it's not going super far and was sent Priority.

Haha no no spanking, I know my partner is SUPER SUPER busy at the moment :sheepish: so, I am more just worried that it made it without issue, since it took longer than expected to get there, I hope nothing happened to the box!

Omg! I just got my box!
And it's truly the most wonderful and lovely box ever! I just got home from work and need to unwind with some bourbon ( a bad pony, I am ) and get dinner on for when my roommate gets home, but I will have my brag up very soon!
Marigold, I just want to shout out right now that I absolutely love you! I also have to wonder if you drove over here to Pensacola, six hours away, and stalked me for a week or something. You're *amazing.*
I have to figure out a way to get to my post office...
It's on a super long, hilly, winding road, very very dangerous - probably the most dangerous road around here... and, I have to see if my package is there. I can't plow my gravel driveway, or snowblow it... I could hand shovel it but it's SUPER long... and I don't know if I can get my mail... :freak:
My post office didn't bother delivering anything this weekend... we got like a foot of snow and apparently they weren't up to their motto... I am hoping I have some news tomorrow.
 Okay, I'm so sorry for the lack of brag guys. But I just got a chance to open my box this morning (after a loooong, busy weekend) and I cannot express how happy I am with my box. wystearya, thank you SO SO MUCH for my wonderful gifts! I can't say enough how grateful I am for everything that you sent me and I'll be sure to post up a brag tonight when I get home showing off my lovely presents.
:cheer: My box arrived from Arianna today!!!!! I will get to my brag ASAP!!!

Guess what I am doing tomorrow
My box arrived!!! EEEEEE!!!! I'm so excited! My partner was the absolutely wonderful Libelle! Everything was absolutely perfect! She spoiled me! I'm still in awe!
I'll post my brag later (I have to run out otherwise I would do it now)! Thank you so so much!
:frolic: :newpony: :yippee: :dance2: :joy: :cheer: :hearts: :pineapple: :cuke: :sqs:

I have been so busy and super tired, but I haven't forgotten my brag! I will have it up this weekend, I promise. I have the photos, I just have to upload them to Photobucket and then post. I love my swap gifts!!! (I ate most of the candy already. :P)
The arena has in general wonked out tonight.

So where the hell is it?? :enraged:
I wonder if they sent it back to me for some reason? Bust still, shouldt it of been scanned in at some point saying so?
Horrah! That is just two left! One of which I am a little concerned about.

I don't know if you're referring to mine or tikibirds' because USPS hasn't updated the tracking on my box since the 13th and I sent it out on the 10th. Hopefully there are no problems with either box and the delays are just USPS not being on their game due to Christmas.

It was never delivered nor was it forwarded or returned.
If i remember correctly, when my package for the sticker swap was returned to me - it never said out for delivery. It just had some city location that was never updated and it ended up back at my house like a week later.
Should I make a new package or wait and see if it shows up someplace?
if you left a forwarding address, assuming I did ship to the old one, then it should hopefully get delivered.
it would be nice if it arrived BEFORE christmas
The post will be closed for the next couple of days, so I guess mine didn't make it for christmas this time. No worries though, it gets here when it gets here.

You have probably figured out by now that I am your partner. So sorry that your box didn't arrive in time for Christmas. :( I know I sent it out to you a week late due to my baby being born earlier than expected, but the post office said it would take between 6-10 business days, and even on the late end, it should have gotten to you by now. >_< USPS hasn't given me any new information since the 13th, but I will send you the tracking number anyhow so you can attempt to follow its progress should it ever update. Ugh... so annoying.

Yeah I know. International shipping tends to take ages even without christmas slowing things down. It's not your fault.
It takes THAT long to forward something??
Now that I think about it, it did take about an month to get something forwarded to me but it was going from Alaska to New York.
Doedeardarling, I haven't heard from you since before Christmas and have seen no updates from USPS, either. Any sign of your parcel yet?

Hmm...i am pretty sure my friend had never experienced snow or cold weather before. Well, maybe she had seen snow before but not icy streets/roads. Come to think of it, Fairbanks was the only place I lived where they did not put salt on the roads because it was too cold out to melt the ice. They have these ice breaking trucks with big blades that break up the ice on the roads.

So according to tracking, the box has gone back to Allen Park, which is where the main sort facility is. I called my PO today, and they said since it was being forwarded, it had to go from Rochester, back to the main sort facility in Allen Park, where it should be being resorted and sent to Auburn Hills, which will then get it on the truck to me. The lady said if it got back to the main sort facility yesterday (which tracking said it did) it should have gotten on the truck to Auburn Hills today, and will be delivered tomorrow, Monday at the latest. I'm keeping my frozen little fingers crossed it gets here tomorrow! :)
