Hey, ya'll! I just read something kind of interesting this morning. Apparently the Natoinal Toy Hall of Fame just released it's top 12 toys that MIGHT make it into the hall of fame...only they can only pick two of the twelve.
Our dearest My Little Ponies are nominated! I doubt they'll make it since they're up against things like the RUbber Duck, the Magic 8 Ball, the Clue game, Pac Man video game, etc... But I still thought it was pretty cool.
Ponies are so famous :)

That is pretty cool! You never know, everyone that I have talked to remembers the 80's My Little Ponies and they did not even collect them. :)

Also voted! Some day I want to visit the museum and hall of fame but it's a little far. They've been featured on one of ny favorite shows and it looks cool!

Both are deserving of inclusion in the Hall of Fame, buuuuut MLPs are slightly more deserving than TMNT. Then again, I'm quite biased. :lol:

People tend to have sticky blindness on a forum unfortunately. If the thread goes to the top and is stickied you will find it gets fewer views. We are best to keep it bumped to the top and perhaps when it starts to drift down the bottom of page 1 with regularity we may sticky it.

Good point! I don't post/go on that site, but it might be worth it for someone to shoot the word that way to see if those masses can help MLP jump forward again.

I just sent it in and I'm hoping other people do too so it gets added quickly. Ponies are losing by 1% :(

They're definitely games (which are different) but looking at the list of inducted toys, there are a bunch of games such as The Game of Life, Scrabble, even blankets and cardboard boxes were inducted :blink: :nuts: Sounds like it should be called the National Play-things Hall of Fame :P

There are actually a lot of toys that are far more classic that deserve the vote more, I think. How are "bubbles" and the Rubber ducky not in the Hall of Fame? But I gave it to Little People, since they're my favorite on the list, but even they are quite a toybox standard like the Ducky is, or dominoes.

I love that Museum, it is exciting to hear ponies are getting a chance to get into the Hall of Fame. If they don't get in this round there are always many other rounds for them to get the chance. My guess is they might do 1 classic, like rubber duck, and one more modern, like My Little Pony.

I'm very surprised with how huge the brony fandom still is that ponies aren't way higher than they are. I won't vote since I can't choose between ponies and turtles, both of my greatest loves and I don't like having to pick one over the other. But if there's more than one winner it seems like both may be allowed into the toy hall of fame! Yay!

For the last three years there were at least two inductees so if the trend continues both MLP and TMNT will be inducted this year!

I suppose the poll was just there to bring traffic to their site and make us feel like we have a say in the results. But if that's so, they probably shouldn't have had the results on there! It's a bit silly.
Chess is pretty timeless though, and the rubber duck is super iconic. It's disappointing that Ponies didn't make the cut, but it's not surprising, I don't think.

I mean, they've inducted things like cardboard boxes, plain old sticks, and jump ropes! Sure, every kid played with those, but nobody wants to go to a museum to see them! *humpf* Someday I'm gonna start my own toy museum and show them how it's done!

Honestly, I'm happy with the results. Yes, My Little Ponies are awesome toys (of course). But when compared to actual classics like chess and rubber duckies, I personally feel that those are a tiny bit more deserving. They have remained basically the same throughout the generations.

That's what I was thinking as well. Is it really a toy? I've always seen chess as more of a teenager/adult game anyway, not something kids would be into. At least I never was XD

I've been playing chess against my Dad since I was 8 or so. But I admit that's not the norm. :)

I'm so disappointed :( Honestly I would have figured that such timeless classics like the rubber duck would have been included in the toy hall of fame a LONG time ago and now they were hoping to branch out with other toys that have made a big impact in the collecting world. I guess not. I was really excited that my very two most favorite toys/fandoms were going to be represented.

Actually, this was kind of what I was expecting. I would have been shocked (though not in a bad way) had TMNT or MLP gotten in before the duck. But yeah, clarifying the point of the poll would have been nice.
