Let me start by saying that I apologize in advance if this is somewhere else on the arena, I did try searching several different ways prior to posting.
Anyways...
Did anyone else watch it on tv tonight on slice? If you did, is that person a member here? I thought that the collection appeared familiar based on the room and displays, but I could be wrong lol.
It made me wonder who has the biggest collection in the world, how much was spent to obtain all of it and what it's actually valued/appraised at.
I will say I definitely drooled over all of those MIB ponies, especially the babies :dribble:
-
Oooh, I didn't see that! Is there a youtube clip or video of it on the internet that I can see?
-
I think at one point the scouts were on here and the TP looking for willing participants....they did not receive a very warm welcome though....
-
Oh that would of been something to see. That is sad they were not welcomed. Why was that?
-
Oh that would of been something to see. That is sad they were not welcomed. Why was that?
It's because all those shows sensationalize the person to make them seem like they're insane and obsessed. Not like they're a person with a hobby.
It's not a "look how cool that is!" attitude, its more of a "what a freak! who would buy all that junk?!" attitude

It looks like Twinkler00 on the Trading Post is the one that was featured :)

I would love to see the episode if a link is avail. I tried to find it and did not see anything but that may be because the episode just aired
-
I could be on that show  and I LOVE IT LOL
-
Ooooo I wanna see! I hope theres a youtube video of it somewhere.
-
yeah unofnerlty a lot of those shows just portay the collectors as hoarders or obseeive and they just give more negativity to ist. which is really a shame.
-
Hoarder-CHECK
Obsessive-CHECK
Giving a rats but if anyone cares-CHECK
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
And I feel that I have not even gotten started good yet

The My Little Pony episode is not posted yet... but here is where you can find them...

-
Yes that was me.
I do not believe it was the same people trolling around here looking for collectors
How do I know??
The host had to be convinced MLP were worth featuring! ;)
He thought the producers were joking when they told him they wanted to feature a collection of my little ponies
The show was extremely well done and featured ALL the collectors and collections in a POSITIVE light. It is NOTHING like the other ones that have been featured about collecting. (so get that out of your mind RIGHT NOW. It was NOT negative. It did NOT make ANY of us look "crazy" or "obsessive", I mean heck I know I am but I don't want it sensationalized for national television)
The point of this show was to highlight and celebrate ALL collectors weather they collected large things (like vintage cars) to small things that add up (like my little pony or snow globes)
You can catch episodes of the show here:
http://www.slice.ca/videocentre/video.html?ID=v#extremecollectors/video
They are working on getting it distributed in the USA, so right now only Canadians can watch the clip
They featured a few spots on my collection. Andrew added it up and he told me what the value was. Keep in mind, I removed a lot of what was in the room to fit in the camera equipment and there is TONS in boxes/not shown. They only evaluated what was out on display :)
The show was an amazing experience. I was so happy to of been a part of it and to of had such a great time too!! And the fact that they CELEBRATE collecting instead of, well, make fun of it....that made it all the better! :) <3
*Twinks*

hey thats great that it showed it in a positve light!
-
And my pony room has indeed been featured before, but the OLD one at my moms house. This is the first time this pony room has been on television (the shelves are the same). The pony room and myself will also be featured in a documentary released soon.
I was pleased with how the episode turned out and the features they did :) Shame they didn't focus more on my wall of carded ponies!
Hope you guys enjoyed it. Like I said I was honored to do it and had a LOT of fun and I love love love that the show celebrates collecting in a very positive light :)
Be patient and I am sure it will be available online for viewing in the next few days. And as soon as I hear from them they have a distributer in the US and you can watch it I will post too :)
I follow them on facebook

(also, I am sure you are all wondering who the heck I am. I have been around the community for a LONG time, just never was active on the arena after joining and I kinda lurk on the TP after they moved from the old old boards to the new ones)
-
How awesome is that!! It sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I could see it. I went to the website and tried to watch the snowglobe collector but it doesn't play. I'm assuming that's because I'm in the US.
-
A famous collector right here on our arena.......im so excited to see this eeeeeeeeeekkkkkkk :frolic: :frolic: :frolic:

That was you!? Oh my goodness, super congrats!!! You are so lucky to have your collection shown on television!! I cant wait to see the video!! I would love to be interviewed on my G4 collection someday, this inspires me to keep collecting! I thrilled it was an arena members collection shown on tv-how did they know to find you by the way!? So lucky! ^ͺ^ Im glad they have shows like this on TV to focus on the cool, positive points of collecting! I would love to see a Beanie Baby episode as well!
-
It was a really great show, very well done. I really do love that the show doesn't portray the collectors in a negative light. I just happened to glance at a preview and I saw a pony out of the corner of my eye and that was it, I stayed glued to the tv, didn't budge lol.
-
That is awesome to hear that you had a great time with it all :) I cant wait to see it :)
-
That's great it wasn't portrayed negatively, Twinkler! Congrats on having your collection on TV! Wow, tv :satisfied: My collection wouldn't nearly be big enough for that  I'm so looking forward to watching it! :frolic:
-
I would love to see it, but I'm in the UK. Hopefully it shows up somewhere else online!
And that's fantastic that you were shown in a positive light rather than being edited to look like a lunatic, as so many of these type of shows do.
-
Cooooooool!!!!!!!
Can't wait to see it!!
-
Oh VERY cool! I'll be keeping my eye on that site to keep a watch out for your collection :D I wanna see it!
-
I'm glad this show has a more positive spin than it' US counterparts :) Congratulations on being featured.
-
I posted on FB Arena page about the episode as soon as I saw what was coming up next on Extreme Collectors.....I saw the awesome episode and in no way was it negative or made Stephanie look nutty.....besides, aren't we all nutty in some way anyways? :P It was cute....just wondered how the host was informed enough to put a value on it....I guess their people do a bit of research...think he'd choked if he new what Nirvanas go for!
I liked at the end of the show where Stephanie was putting MLP make up on the guy and he pulled out the pony umbrella!
Oh Steph, what was that "newer" pony plush that went for over $2000? I was surprised about that one.
-
I'm so glad to hear it was positive-
-
I saw it, if anyone is looking for it the episode is titled "Cadillac Ranch"
It's online now
http://www.slice.ca/videocentre/video.html?ID=v&releasePID=Z99FiItYRbgWyV_WP4ChjpOzpFXswQw4#extremecollectors/video/season+1
TV schedule for that episode
http://www.slice.ca/Shows/EpisodeGuide.aspx?Title_Id=299258&Root_Title_Id=299265
It was pretty positive light and it was neat to see the ponies and think, "oh I have that too" :)
-
^ is that only available in canada? I can get the page up but it doesn't do anything when i click play :\
-
Thank you for the link to that page, I liked it and will be checking it out more :)
-
It won't play for me either. :(
-
How awesome! Congrats on being featured and what a great positive perspective it sounds like :)
-
It won't play for me either. :(
yep not playing it for me either
-
That's really awesome! So great to see your collection featured on Spike Twinkler!
-
I know that this is a report they did on a lady that lives quite near me just as I started collecting again.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-17668955
i took it as a sign to buy more at the time
-
Can anybody in Canada record it and post it onto Youtube or something?
-
It won't play for me either. :(
yep not playing it for me either
The video will ONLY play for Canadian residents right now.
The show/production company is looking at US distributers
As soon as they have one, people in the States can see it too.
Thank you all for your support. It is always an honour to go on tv with the ponies!! :)
You can go to Slices page to watch the episode.

Aww, I wish I could watch this. I did like that BBC video, though. :) Now I think I want to go home and re-watch My Little Obsession. :D

The Extreme Collectors video isnt working for me either =<

Truth and human dignity doesn't sell tv ratings my firend, finding folks the viewer can throw under the praverbial bus does. -_-
-
i just saw it, it was cool
i am really curious about what went on behind the scenes. LOL
did it take him all day to appraise it ?
-
It sounds awesome! :)
I hope they get US distribution rights soon.
-
Oh man! THere is a Jem collector and a Barbie collector too. It needs to get to he US... or someone needs to re-upload to youtube. :P
I am glad there is a show that puts collectors in a more positive light. All the negtaive shows in the US are just sad. Collections are things to be proud of. They show real history and passion.
-
I just watched the episode, great collection! It's a really cool show, I'm glad I found out about it

You're welcome hehe :) I thought it'd come in handy. I used a Canadian VPN to watch the episode and record it. Just a little trick I do hehe
-
Ya! I got to see it :)
-
wow! What a great episode! You have so much charisma, Stephanie. Love it!
-
Awesome representation of the community! Great job!
-
Juat watched the video! I love it! ^-^ What a beautiful collection! I LOVE how Stephanie said it was an form of 'escape' and how she made genuine friendships through my little pony- so true! I have met wonderful people because of my little pony! ^-^ I also want to be buried with my ponies too when I pass! xD
I also love the fact they put in there how the highest amount someone paid for was the Rainbow Dash plushie- I remember watching that auction! =D
-
Just watched it! Very well done ;) Very nice pony room too!
-
Wow, that was awesome! Congrats Twinkler00!! You do have an amazing collection.
And thanks for posting the link for the rest of us Spike!! ^-^
-
Thanks for the video clip! That was fun to watch. I love the lighting in your display cabinets. Looks great! :)
-
Just watched the video it was so cool!!!!

This!! :) Congrats Twinkler! Way to represent the pony community!
-
I had to watch it again! :) My daughter feels the same way about her ponies, they are her friends :)
-
Great video :) Thanks for uploading Spike. And awesome job Twinkler!
-
Love it! I wish they had spent more time on the ponies, lol. I could have watch a whole episode just on that (I feel like I only got a quick glance at a fraction of your collection).
Canadian shows, even the reality ones, tend to be way lower on the drama scale. It's refreshing.
-
Thanks for posting a link for the US Spike! That segment was so much fun. And Twinks, you were great on camera. Your collection (what we were able to see anyhow) is so impressive. Way to represent!
-
They actually did take a pretty positive angle with it. Nice!
-
Yes they did make it very positive about ponies :)
-
She really shows what king of people we are! Kind and friendly and still act like normal people!
-
This was great, I loved the collection and the feature was well done. No "shock value" like in US "reality shows" like American Pickers.
:D
-
Ponies and Cadillacs in one episode? I think you've got me hooked on a new show. Congrats Twinkler, your collection is stunning!
-
That's an awesome positive video  I love it!!
-
Great video! That is an awesome collection, I am jealous! :)
-
What a great video! It was fun and I was drooling over those MOC TEs on the wall :dribble: I love that they got a close up of Mimic
-
I'm going to record the MLP bit with camtasia and upload to youtube if anyone wants to see it.

Thank you SO MUCH for posting the video! I enjoyed watching it so much!
Twinkler, you are SO PRETTY!! Congrats on your amazing collection! You did a great job with the cameras :) That's no easy thing to be comfortable in front of.
-
twas an awesome collection twink'
UGH You have a mimic!!
thks for sharing with us!

(This was cross posted to the thread on the TP)
Okay, you guys are the best!
To answer a few questions:
My friend applied for a different show on tattoos and saw they were casting for "extreme collectors" I submitted photos of my pony room to a producer
For the next few weeks (even though they weren't looking for more collectors) her and I exchanged information. She wanted to photos of individual stuff, prices, etc etc
I was a little hesitant about the whole price thing because, well, I didn't want everyone to assume EVERY pony is worth money.....but most people already do that. LOL
So I went for it.
After the producer came to see my show, she let me know I had been approved and well, the rest was history!!
The host, Andrew and I really get along :)
He told me he thought they were nuts when they suggest my little ponies. He said "but I am a serious antique dealer!"
But the more he (and apparently they had a team of 4-5 researchers as well) looked into it the more they couldn't believe it! Hahahaha.
I had no idea he went in with a pen and paper and added it all up for the camera. I am assuming they had a number ready and knew certain things prices they could have him write down.
I was sad that I had to remove a couch and a table (the table holds my paradise estate) out of the room to fit the equipment (they had a team of 4-5 people plus andrew) and they also didn't appraise what wasn't shown (which is like, nearly every G3 MIB. Hahahaha. I went a little nuts with those and then packed them away) as well as all the goodies I didn't dig out of my closet like the bag/knapsack collection/pillow buddies
Overall the experience has been my best yet.
This was my 4th time being on television with my collection since I began collecting
And hopefully in the next few months, the documentary that I was in will be released as well :)
Thank you all for your wonderful nice comments and support! It means a lot to me!! <3
*Twinks*
I'm going to record the MLP bit with camtasia and upload to youtube if anyone wants to see it.

THANK YOU for doing that to share it with our USA friends!! :D
-
Thanks for posting that!!! It was GREAT!
-
for the german show "trödeltrupp" they are selling a small g1collection (less then 200)! right now, they are looking for interested buyers they could film (via kijiji). will keep you updated and link the show :)
-
Just watched the video, so cool! I did yell 'OH MY GOD LOOK AT HER MIMIC' at the laptop when they showed her, lol!
Really impressed with the segment, it was nice that the show just showed the collection for what it was. I approve!
-
I had to watch it again. I think that it was so neat that they buy seemed excited about it all also. :)
