When I was a kid, my dad build me this wooden pony house as I didn't have any of the buildings for them to live in. my dad's really not very handy and he doesn't like making such things much at all, but he made this for me and I was soooo happy with it!

As I got older I didn't like the wooden colors much, so I ended up painting it with a bunch of friends. An amazing memory, but we weren't the best painters around and the colors also don't suit me very well anymore...

Yeah... nope.
So my sweet boyfriend and I ended up painting it in our holiday. It was so much fun to do! I love this little building so much and it's still in awesome shape, and perfect for displaying ponies (and other things, lol).

Here it is! The walls are Minty-green and the rest is apple white now. It fits my room perfectly and looks like new! I love the way my ponies look displayed in it, and it holds so many memories I'm so happy I can still use it! I'm planning to just rotate which ponies are on display every two months or so, as 90% of my collection is currently in storage ^^" The bottom shelves are books because otherwise our cat loves to walk in and try to squeeze himself into one of the little spaces, lol. Oh, and that poor baby Splashes with a haircut was my first pony ;)

It is great that you still have this pony house from your dad. With the new painting it looks perfect. I like people who spend time to restore old thinks. :)

I love dads who do stuff like that! So sweet and such great memories tied into such a nifty item that obviously love built...first from your dad, now your BF...maybe someday the kids! Lol...

Oh I really really enjoyed reading your post! I love to hear of nice things that parents did for their kids (especially when they are pony related!) The display unit is great and your dad did a really good job! Have you been able to tell him about your renovation?
I have a pony outfit that my mum made me one Christmas when the family was so broke (she made them for all my ponies, but Blossom's is the only one that survived) and a walking talking Zapft doll that my dad worked extra shifts to be able to afford. Both are so precious :)

Awwww, that is so sweet that your dad made that for you, so I can see why it's so special. It looks so nice with its new paint job. :) My grandpa made me something like that for my beanie babies, wish I had it still. Congrats on a job well done!

Thanks so much, everyone! I'm so happy I still have it! I mean it's not the most original thing in the world and it has plenty of flaws, but it's still standing strong and it means the world to me! :)
