That would be the most ideal location for me... I can often fly there for under $100!! There's stuff for my family to do and my mom would even go with us (She's been to 2 pony fairs, hehe).

It's awesome to be able to have some official input rather than just the discussion threads that pop up every year. I never thought that I should have put poor for the Indianapolis location since I didn't get to go but I thought it was asking about the hotel itself and I wasn't there to give an opinion.

My suggestion is that if the fair is held in Vegas, don't hold it during the week of 4th of July. Place is packed with tourists due to all the firework shows and rooms are expensive and harder to find. Plus its sweltering hot. Other than that--summer is the slow season for Vegas, rooms are cheap, airfare is cheap, convention space is cheaper than other times of the year.
If you want a summer convention somewhere that has nicer weather, I suggest San Diego, California.

OH YES! There's an amazing hotel I love there, plus Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and stuff. PLUS PLUS The Chocolate Bar....a restaurant where all foods are made with chocolate.

and "no" to las vegas. myself and many others boycotted the fair that year soley b/c of the location (and that year had some bad problems)

I'm not sure why everyone says flights are cheap to Vegas. That was the only Fair I could not attend in the last 6 years because I couldn't find any flight for under $1,000 from the east coast.

I didn't find any ponies I needed last time I went but I was drooling over their Care Bears! The downtown location had a bumper sticker that had Tenderheart on it and said "I Care About Cleveland" that I wish I could have picked up as a souvenir...And they had a 36" Tenderheart Bear above the door! I'd never seen one in person before!
And, oh, a vintage store...time to start crash dieting now to fit into cute 50's dresses...

Yes, I love Big Fun! ^.^ They have old My Little Pony stuff there. Also in the area is Jamie's Flea Market and next to it, a vintage toy store called Groovy Little Toy Store where I have purchased LOTS of G1 ponies.
I'm sure Cleveland area hotels, flights, and buses are cheaper than going to Vegas. JUST SAYIN' :blush:
Oh and random, if anyone is ever in the Cleveland area, I urge you to go to Melt Bar & Grilled. HUGE GOURMET GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES STUFFED WITH ALL KINDS OF DELICIOUS THINGS. It's my favorite place to eat, and its getting pretty famous, having been on a couple different Food Network shows. IT IS HEAVENLY! :)

This year was my first time attending the Fair, but I thought the location was really nice. It was about a three hour drive for me which wasn't bad at all. There was lots to do and the hotel was pretty nice also. I loved the fact that it was connected to a mall. There were a lot of dining options other than the typical mall food that were convenient to get to.

I said I was pretty easy going as far as location, but I would also prefer it not be in Vegas again. Once was more than enough for me.

I'd take Cleveland over Vegas... But I feel like a more central location might be preferable. East coast-wise, I'd be thrilled if it were in TN! That would be driving distance for me.

Took the survey. Anyway, the only way I'd possibly be able to attend would be if it was in western Washington (Seattle, for example), and was not during the 4th of July, because my family always goes somewhere that day.

I am going to recommend California! Because our local big-name Brony convention, EquestriaLA, has announced a HIATUS for the year of 2014!! D: So we'll officially have no local big convention at all for this year! Hence, I feel like maybe there would be more people willing to come to the MLPFair, even if they weren't G1 or G3 fans? :) It's worth a shot!

Since I'm going there next month for business, I've got to check out these stores!
I stayed at an awesome Marriot just outside Cleveland that was great for a pony fair.
I like June dates better, because of hotel rates and flights. Of course, this year I didn't have to fly, which is nice. And if a hotel participates in a corporate barter program, sometimes we can get cheap hotel rooms too.

I took the survey! I am in Saint Louis, MO so obviously I'd love for the Fair to come to my home town, but if that isn't an option, Indy was very nice. The hotel was lovely and very affordable. We had a lot of space for vendors and activities. There were a ton of food options and stores nearby. The drive was quick (as it was for many of us living in the Midwest) and the flights should have been easier for most people on either coast being that it is so centrally located.
I think that the 4th of July weekend has it pros and cons. Obviously air fare is more expensive and air travel is so much more difficult for people who have to fly. It is a long weekend though, so it makes it easier for people to have that extra travel or recovery day before returning home/to work.
I had a great time at the Fair this year and will happily try my hardest to make it to the future Fairs as well, wherever/whenever they may be. :)
P.S. I don't know if this was already mentioned, but do we have a time frame for when a venue/dates will be chosen? We have to put our 2014 vacation requests in by November. Thanks!

Reading the comments almost any place sounds great (although my preference is on the east coast ;p).
I am now realizing the only thing I didn't put in the survey is that the only place I wouldn't want to go to is Vegas. I've had a lot of personal bad experience on business trips. (Its also expensive and not the kind of environment I picture for the fair. :P )
There should be a magical place that we could all get to in 2 hours by car :P

If it wasn't an hour away from the nearest airport (albany, NY)..I would so recommend Lake George. It's a tourist haven in summer and there are a few hotels that are big enough to hold it in...

I vote for New York area (pref Buffalo/Niagara Falls) - something closer to Canada would be great.
I'd consider going down as far as the Augusta, Georgia area - because then I can pop in on a rabbit rescue friend, lol. But a trip that far might not be possible for us next year due to some other planned trips.

Although I'm in the minority here, I would really love it if the Fair came to the east coast! :) I would love to show the pony friends some New England hospitality. Boston is a gorgeous city and we have beautiful summers here. ^_^

Hathor, Ohio is one of the best places to live. Maybe Cleveland isn't the best, i dont really care for the city, but the rest of the state is wonderful. Ohio is a best kept secret. I'd go to Ohio. How about Youngstown? It's a beautiful place.
You know why Glee takes place in Ohio? They really do have awesome competitive Glee Clubs in the Ohio school systems.
I'd also go to the Buffalo/Niagara area in a heartbeat. Love that region!
I want to visit Vegas on vacation, but I agree with others in that it has too much other crazy stuff going on and would be bad for traffic.
It would be nice to find a quiet town or city and not one that is too hectic.
Has anyone said Amy of the oceanfront towns? Myrtle Beach? Charleston? Savannah?
Someone said Tennessee. I'd go there too. Gatlinberg! Although Gatlinberg is a bit too congested and touristy too.
I'm back to rooting for Buffalo/Niagara.

Ponyville 2014!
I'd consider going anywhere that I can get a cheap flight to, that's not crazy hot (sorry, no Florida or Texas, no way, I have heat-related health issues), and that's not Vegas. If it's more than 6 hour drive away from me I won't be getting a vendor table but I might try to attend. The farthest south I'm willing to go is the upstate SC area...Charlotte NC, Greenville SC, Buford/Lawrenceville GA (my family lives in SC).
I still think Cleveland would be an awesome spot though, or Youngstown, or Cincinnati :)

I'm still rooting for Rosemont, IL! They opened a new outlet mall with wonderful shops like Bloomingdales, BCBGMaxazria, Disney Store Outlet and Forever 21. The movie theater is right there and they opened up a bunch of nice restaurants last year. For those who like the casino, there's one close by that's really nice. It's a hoppin' town right now. It's a big business area as it is right next to O'Hare airport and there are a bunch of nice hotels right there too. I've been going to that area for 11 years and it's so nice! You don't have to drive from the airport either. You can hop on the blue line and it's the first stop from O'Hare and it only costs $2.25 each way. Much better than an expensive taxi ride.

Awesome! Well I'm still hoping for the Pacific Northwest, barring that, the West, barring that, somewhere near a big airport to make costs less, (ie not Cleveland) and somewhere that is more of a vacation destination so my wife will be willing to come.

It's cool, Roogna! ;) We are excited and want to talk about the Fair. People are taking the poll for the Fair Staff and discussing it here for their own enjoyment. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. :)

Also..aye...if Vegas can be avoided, do so. While I had a good experience with cheap hotel bills. The Vegas environment just doesn't mesh well with the Pony Convention scene. It's not as kid friendly. And that's one of the many things that played against Las Pegasus Unicon.
As to July 4th, I personally don't mind the date. That's one of the dates my trip for BronyCon Summer 2012 covered. And it wasn't a problem for me.

Because I attended it? I was aware of a lot that was going on. Even spoke with some of the VA agents when things went sour and they needed money.
Also the major lack of child presence.

There is so much fun stuff to do in Virginia I don't think anyone would be disappointed.
We have theme parks, mountains, beaches, nations capital, historic places like williamsburg...

I'd actually be ok with Cleveland though since we have family there.

yep on Saturday morning! they said 70k tickets were sold! but I imagine the MLP Fair would be smaller, and less crowd-crazy.
