Coming back down from a MLP Fair high - I'm turning my attentions again to the possibility of a meet in Michigan.
I know we have a lot of collectors so I'm thinking we really need to start a good annual meet here
I've found an Auction house in Potterville, MI that we can host the meet in. (I have a family member that works there) It would have the space -tables and chairs if people would like to set up and is centrally located - only an hour and a half drive for the Detroit and Midland pony peeps and a little over an hour away for the Grand Rapids and Flint Pony Peeps.
I've called and confirmed the date for Saturday September 28th!

Sounds awesome! Unfortunately, as a student, I will probably be quite busy around that time and won't be able to attend. But there is always a possibility, depending on the date! *hopeful*
I also...sort of...spent a little too much at the fair...but depending on location and cost of the main thing I might be able to work something out. Or if we can make it an annual thing, then next year for sure! Because college... :biggrin:

I would be interested in attending :D Unfortunately I will be starting school once more in August. Yay vet tech school! I will also be attending Youmacon in October/first couple days of November in Detroit. Location wise I am located in southeast Michigan. A Detroit meet or a Lansing meet would work best for me. I spent four years up in East Lansing for school so it is my second home xD

I'm in southeast MI (did someone say Port Huron?! :biggrin:) and would be up for something, including a reasonable fee. I've never been to a pony gathering but if it's similar to model horse stuff it could be a real hoot!

Just my opinion but since this is the first year it might be best to host it at someone's house just to get a feel for numbers and stuff and then next year we can look at a venue if there's enough attendance.
I will pretty much drive to anywhere in Michigan but obviously closer to the border the better :lol:

It's the first weekend in October but by no means do I want planning to be held up or made difficult on my account. If that's the weekend where everyone can get together then by all means pony peeps meet! Although I am humored by the scenario of me running off to get ponies immediately after saying "I do!" :lol:

I know a lot of you are saying you're in school - I'm starting to look into maybe Lansing - it's kinda a middle ground for those from Detroit and Grand Rapids to come too and of course, anyone from Indiana, Ohio and Canada are welcome to come too.- I have an aunt who lives in the area and I'm gonna talk to her about building possibilities. A small hall doesn't really cost that much and it would give us space to set up stuff to sell if we want to bring any. If we had it in Oct - I was thinking more towards the third Saturday- that way we could do a Halloween Meet theme. I think that could be really fun. But right now this is more a brainstorming thread so open to other dates/locations too.

We could probably do Lansing, since we're in the Detroit area. Or, like, anywhere in Michigan probably. ^.^ the only problem for me will be the date because we haven't been given a rehearsal schedule for our school musical yet, so I'm not sure when our weekend rehearsals will start. If it's closer to september, we will probably be good. But yeah, don't worry about our attending, I've already spent enough on ponies this year! :lol:

That sounds like a blast! I work an odd schedule but would try to make it to a nearby meetup; SE mich or the thumb.

Hello! I live in Dewitt which is just outside of Lansing. I have a house with a large finished basement that might work well for a meet. Anywho, regardless of where it is held I am definitely in. There are a ton of us collectors in this state!

A movie and dinner sounds great (I'm sure I have some pony's to trade too!!)

I had no idea there where so many pony peeps in my home town area. I grew up in St. Johns and drive through Dewitt all the time to visit my mom and see my brother.

There is a flea market at the Mega Mall in Dewitt this coming weekend...I will be unable to attend though, as it's the same weekend as the collectibles festival here which is a mile from my house :/

I would totally be up for a small meet in the Flint/Port Huron/Detroitish neighborhood too! (Except this weekend. BreyerFest is this weekend) It' neat to see so many collectors in MI!

I think a movie meet up or a park meet up would be fun :) Maybe have an organizer for like East side, West side, and Central meets? I'd be interested to find out where most of the collectors are located :)

Eeeek, yes, not THIS weekend...it's weekend #2 of the Michigan Antiques and Collectibles Festival, and whatever time I don't spend there will be spent cleaning house in preparation for my mom and grandmother to visit next weekend. It will be their first visit ever to Michigan and we are hoping to take them to see Mackinac Island :-)

also if you guys wanted to go somewhere fun you guys would always be welcome to come on a "field trip" to my barn where i board my horse and goat :P LOL its a beautiful farm that raises dairy goats and buffalo. :)

lol yes I was thinking more like late August - Mid Oct somewhere in that area- I think a lot of us are still recovering from the Fair, plus it takes a little time to plan a good meet.
Right now because of some of us being in the GR area some being in the Detroit area I'm kinda of look:Ding at meeting in the middle - Near Lansing that way it should be do-able for just about everyone and we could even tempt some of those in Indiana and Ohio to come up. :D Those who don't want to make the drive can always see about arranging carpools.

Cincinnati Ohio meet is August 3rd, and I believe there's going to be a Lexington Kentucky meet on October 5th. If it's a driveable distance and we're available, I'd love to visit a new meet!
Just throwing it out there, but I really liked visiting Ann Arbor when we in Michigan. I also have a cousin in Battlecreek I'd love to have an excuse to visit.

It's about $25 tax included for just the pony :) Clothes are about $10-15 for ponies. I went to the party at the fair and it was so cute!

I'd recommend not having it on the weekend of September 21-22 as that's the fall show of the Michigan Antiques and Collectibles Festival. October 24th is my birthday so I may be busy the weekend closest to it, but a pony meet could definitely still be doable around that time!

september works really well for me. october might be a squeeze due to the fact i work full time one month out of the year at a local haunted attraction XD so october is my crazy month. but if need be i can take a night off :)

Oh man! I wish I could come. I live in Swartz Creek (just west of Flint). September 28th just so happens to be my birthday (:P), and I would much rather attend a pony meet than the wedding (one of my mom's cousins is getting married) that I'm supposed to be going to that day. Just found out some info on the Remember When Auction House that we are having the meet at.
First off we'll have 1700 sq feet - so like I said plenty of room for us to set up stuff and play games etc. (I do plan on having a Pinkie Pie Pinata to smash! I'm working on some other games but am open for options and prize donations too!
Our Historical Site is located in downtown Potterville, right on Main Street. The building was originally part of a 5 story Hotel built in the late 1800's. When the Hotel burned down in 1912 four walls were all that remained. The City of Pottersville rebuilt on the site some years later using the original walls of the hotel. The city used the building as city hall for many years on the top floor. On the 1st floor of the building is were the town held all there community dances.
Now it's the Auction house. They have a small parking lot at the auction house plus access to all the parking across the street at City Hall. They are fully handicap accessible including restrooms.
They have a kitchen which is great news because I'm planning a potluck - fall themed of course. I'll be bringing Apple Cider and some other fall treats. But you can bring whatever you want. There is a sign up sheet at the msg board for the meet.

Nope, not the bride or a bridesmaid. Just a third cousin who barely knows the bride. :P
But my mom hates going to weddings or other family functions by herself, and my dad has to work, so he can't go. She would be pretty upset if I told her I was also ditching her that day for ponies. :lol:

I am absolutely in! Things will be dead for me in early fall and I have been dying to go to a meet for years. Lansing/Potterville areas are great for me. I'm moving down to the Jackson area in a couple weeks.

Thats incredibly kind, but I dont think ill make it anyway. My son will be in school, and ill have just gotten back from our yearly "U.P." camping trip. I just dont think id be able to afford it, and id have to take my son out of school to attend.
SOME day lol ill be able to join everyone at a meet. ^~^

Just eight weeks away! I'm still working on bunches of stuff and games - I have Pony Bingo, Apple Bobbing, Crosswords and word searches planned - suggestions on other games? How many are bringing kids - Bingo and the Apple Bob will be all ages - but I can make a kids crossword and word search too.
Also will have a Pinkie Pie Pinata full of goodies!

I will need help Cricket - we'll have to move the tables and chairs around etc. I'm working on the schedule right now - but I get in the building at 8am and I was going to leave 8am-9am open for vendors to set up or anyone who wanted to come help get everything ready.

Only a week away! I'm probably gonna bring Apple Cider, Bread and a Meat Tray for sandwiches for the Potluck. Mom's caught a bunch of Bushwoolies that will be ready for adoption - lots of new colors too!
Pinata is sitting here waiting to be stuffed full of goodies and games are almost all ready! Now lets hope I can fit it all in my car!

Hi Lady S! The closest Walmart or Target would be in Lansing which is about 25 minutes away. (I live in Lansing and can direct you!) There might be one in Charlotte but I'm not sure and it's close to the same distance. Potterville is a pin dot on the map so not a ton of stores to choose from but they have some great hole-in-the-wall restaurants :)

Also I have a Sunspot (sparkle pony) extra. She's great except someone kept her in the garage so she smells mildewy..anyone interested in her or should I leave her home?

Does she still have pink hair? I need an upgrade with pink hair so if she has that I'd be interested! Mildew smell is fine!
I'm cleaning two totes of ponies to bring as we speak. I didn't realize I had that many extra ponies!

I wonder why there manes always fade but there tails?

I don't know. I had one from childhood and she actually came with a white mane (or faded) and a super pink tail. I remember thinking how weird it was. Poor Sunspot lol

I have her MOC and her mane and tail are pink but not as bright as I think they should be. I don't display her for that reason. I think she's just really prone to fading. :)

I always love to see super minty ponies that I can drool over. I also love HTF, mail orders, nirvanas and MOCs. A good mix of everything I guess. :lol:
I have my hands full getting all of my trade/sale stuff around. I don't know if I'll be bringing any show ponies.

I think I'll bring my new Lightning and an assortment of some of the HTF, Rares and Nirvana's from my collection along with maybe some of my Glow 'n Show oddties.

Ok so my husband and I have about a 3 hour drive to get there but first we gotta drop our little monster off at Grandma's house so our ETA is about 10am. I'm just wondering is there going to be much going on in the first hour? I'd hate to miss anything lol

Don't worry I don't really plan on much until after 11am - actually after lunch really - mostly just getting to know people, set-up, shopping etc. I have a couple of games that will be handed out but they are both puzzles and can be done any time of the day. I expect quite a few people will be dropping in later rather than early. Though those who can come early are welcome too I know I'll need some help setting up moving tables etc. :D
