I've been looking for a roommate since May, and have been having no luck with Craigslist. It's how I've found most of my past roommates with really no problems, but this time around, I'm just getting a ton of scammers and a few real people who it just didn't work out. I've also sent out emails at work, but only people with pets have responded, and we can't have pets here.
Anyone have any ideas? I need to find someone by the end of the month!

Look for your local subreddit on Reddit. My friend had success with finding a roommate through our local sub.

How does that work? Is it safe? Do I have to have an account? I've only looked a Reddit a few times, but it always looks like such a disorganized disaster of a site, I never know what to make of it (or why it's so popular). I think I found a few that could be considered "local," but the closest/most accurate one seems to have mostly male undergraduates posting, and, well, that's not exactly who I'm looking to live with.

It works a lot like any other forum. I use an app on my iPhone which makes it much more organized. As far as trusting, I'd use the same safety measures you'd use on any site about your personal info and all that (people can private message you there, so no need to post email or anything.) Post explicitly what sort of person you'd want as a roommate and that should weed out the people you don't want.
Good luck in any rate, whatever route you decide to go. Finding one is hard.
