I have a masquerade that has turned a sort of sickly yellow brown and it has a sticky residue, like the plastic itself is sticky and the inside is sticky.... anything I can do? I'm planning on customizing her but I want to get rid of this stickiness
-
sounds like plasticizer. she might be getting hard-body-syndrome. if so I don't think theres a way to kill the sticky til shes done. not sure tho.
-
will customizing her now end up ruining the custom? that's what I"m most worried about... she's gonna get an FBR
-
personally, I wouldn't til shes done leaking and turns hard as a rock. id worry about the paint crackling or flakeing. but im not sure really. im just good at SOUNDING like I know what im talking about. =P
and theres always a chance that its not the plasticizer after all, so id wait and see if some other peeps chime in with their 2 cents =]

*nods* I have another masquerade I can use if worse comes to worse on her... I want this custom done before the minnesota pony meet in august XD
-
A good boil couldn't hurt!
I do that with sticky ponies.. and it seems to work about half the time!
-
i'll give that a shot :3 I threw her in a vinegar bath hoping that would help, doesn't seem to be though
-
Acetone will pull off the sticky but whether it will keep it off I'm not certain.
-
Mmm... I think to be safe I will use my other masquerade bait... And ill try to get the sticky off this one and give her a quick fbr and let her sit to see what happens
-
maybe try sealing her ? might lock the sticky away?
xoox
-
thought about doing that too
-
I definitely wouldn't use it for a custom, the plasticizer will keep leaking our for who knows how long, even if you get rid of the initial sticky.
-
sad :( I suppose I'll just keep it in my box for now
-
I have heard that you can keep them out in open air. After getting the initial sticky off use a baby wipe every so often to clean them off the leaking will eventually stop.
