Very strange and a waste of a G1 pony!
Your thoughts?
-
It looks like that took a lot of work. I wish it still had hair and eyes. its definitely creative but kinda creepy. it looks like it has scales.
Not really my taste but I have to admire the time and patience it must have taken.
-
I don't know. Some G1s are pretty common, and this one could've been very baity. I don't really have a problem with it unless it's some expensive, highly sought-after pony like Punzie or something. I think the pastel colors on it are kinda cute even though I personally wouldn't spend money on it.

I think she's pretty, actually! Usually I'm one of the people saying 'down with this sort of thing,' but TBH, she looks nice! She wasn't hacked up for parts (like the pony-head necklaces!), the pony wasn't hacked up to make another item that could be done with a better, more appropriate base (like the pony planters - seriously who thinks that roots growing out of a tail hole would be attractive?!), and she actually looks like some of the customs we see here in the Customs forum! :)
Not everyone's cup of tea, I'm sure, but there are a loooot of super-common ponies in that pose (Sundance!), so hopefully they didn't use anything too rare as the base.
-
I spy blue hooves! That's bowtie under there! XD
-
I was going to say 'I hope it is Sundance and NOT Sweet Scoops.' but Jinxxy said she spotted blue. I looked closer and it could be either Bowtie or Sunlight. Both common ponies. Whew!
-
I think she looks actually quite nice. I would love some hair and eyes, but other than that she looks pretty nicely done!
But I do hope that the pony was worth making into a bait!
-
Eeek. I'm sorry, but that's kind of hideous.
-
I think she looks cool, love the colours! ^.^
-
Eeek. Agree hideous. If the eyes had been visible, may have been pretty, but it freaks me out a little, kinda like a mummy or something!
-
I always get worried when non collectors customize.
There were a series of ponies in the Galaxy pose all customized into Zombies that were on Ebay a while back.
They were available in "all colours" and yup, one of the ponies used was a TAF Buttons >.<

I actually really love it. I see no difference between this and what one might find in the customs forums here. Someone has taken a very old toy and done something creative with it, which is much better than it sitting in a basement for another 30 years. If it were cheaper I'd make it mine! *grabby hands*
-
Not to my taste if I am honest but as others have said is it really any different from some of the elaborate customs we have seen?
-
I actually like it but wouldn't pay that much for it.
-
I like her!
-
I am neither here nor there on this particular pony. Since it was most likely a common G1, it doesn't really bother me even if it wasn't already bait quality... that said, despite all the time it must have taken to glue all those little confetti pieces on the pony, I don't care for the end result. Definitely mummy-ish, as one commenter said. I feel like the pony needs to see and breathe, lol. Silly, I know. So... I don't hate it, I don't love it. And I would definitely not pay the over-$60 price tag. Still, it's definitely very creative. I'll give it that. ^.^
-
I think she's lovely. :) She'd be even nicer with the addition of a mane and tail, though, I agree.
-
I think it's a cool idea.
I would have liked if she still had her eyes and maybe some silky pastel locks too.
Her price is a bit much but there is no doubt a lot of effort went into her.
Regardless of which pony it was she was that persons pony to do with as they pleased. Be thankful she was turned into something pretty as opposed to some pony related abominations that lurk on Etsy.
-
wow ^^
-

Exactly. Plus, it's their property. I really hope this doesn't become a repeat of the plant holder customs. :(
-
They're being a bit optimistic on the price there...
Yeah... not for me.
-
She's okay but she would be lovely with eyes and maybe some ribbon hair.
-
I don't think it looks too bad :) I'd like for it to have eyes and hair, but it's creative! And as long as it was a bait pony she turned it into a nice collectible. We'll never know it's condition before the customizing so I am just hoping it was bait!

TAF Buttons?!!? :faint:
-
Not a huge fan. I like the concept, and the colors, its just missing polish for me. Especially if they want $65 for it, although I can definitely see the effort that went into it. All in all, not a bad pony.

Ahhh Iron Giant reference! My husband and I love this movie:)
It's actually better than some of the more gruesome customs of G1's I've seen, so I have no problem with it.
-
Eh not my cup of tea, she reminds me of the rhinestone ponies which I don't really like either. If it was done a bit differently it could have been a more interesting custom for me but eh... At least it was a common pony used XD
-
Interesting idea, but not to my taste.
She would have looked lovely with eyes & pastel hair, but I'd still be paranoid about all the little pieces dropping off.
-
I quite like it!
I'd like a rhinestone pony too. ;D
-
I would have really liked her if she had had eyes and a mane and tail. I don't like her the way she looks now. She's not worth the price to me looking like that. lol. But, it must have taken a lot of work. Hopefully someone will give her a loving home.
-
I like her too. Again, I wish she had some lovely locks and precious peekers.

LOL. Nice alliteration. :)
-
I think it looks kinda nice but not something that i eould like to own :)
-
I think she looks cute.
But.. 50€ for a pony covered in paper dots? Eh, no thanks.
-
I think it's interesting and well executed. But, it's not something I would buy.
-
I think she looks nice. Even if she had eyes and an tail or mane she still would look nice. I don't care for the price too much. To each their own with a pony. I think its because I like art. I agree with the sentiment of at least the pony isn't rotting in some basement or attic. :) The colors are very nice and subdued and she isnt covered with rhinestones but those even look nice but gaudy.
-
I'm just kind of asking myself... why.
I don't see the appeal.

I'm guessing the artist was just really really bored. And had lots of paper dots lying around?

-
Not to my liking, especially at that cost. I appreciate the effort and well, artistic-ness of this project, but I just hope that the pony that donated itself for art was common and very, very, baity.
-
Nope! no..
what a wast.. and for that price.
*face Palm* :throw:
-
Cool idea. Hopefully it's not a Nightlight or rare pony though :P
-
I don't get the point, but there have been plenty of customs over the years that aren't much different. I don't get the point to those either, but it is what it is.
She is pretty.
-
It's an interesting concept but with hair and mane and tail it kinda looks like a mannequin with no face
And I wouldn't pay that much for something like that it's not my thing.
-
I was going to say 'I hope it is Sundance and NOT Sweet Scoops.' but Jinxxy said she spotted blue. I looked closer and it could be either Bowtie or Sunlight. Both common ponies. Whew!
unless its not a nirvana sunlight ;)
-
I think it's pretty cute. I'd love to see some jewel eyes on it, and maybe some really funky hair, but it's certainly creative and cute as-is! I can't imagine how long it would take to do all that work O_O
-
It is fun to make crafts, but this one reminds me too much of the contents of my hole punch, when I have to dump out all of the little paper dots in the garbage. I have had too many paper dot spills all over the floor and this brings back messy memories.
Ah well, whatever floats your boat. I do like the colours.
-
It's cute and creative :).. Gives me an idea :D

WUT.
-
I would be cool if it had hair and eyes...but as is looks creepy.
-
Give it some hair and eyes, then I'll like it. Looks like something out of a toy-based horror movie. ouo;;
I give them props though for being creative, but if they used a more harder to find pony for this, then that just makes me sad. ;;
-
Wouldn't fit in my home decor, but sure, why not. I do hope it was baity and not rare.
I do feel the tiniest bit bad for the 6 giant ninja turtles figures - it's not like they are worth a fortune (around maybe 30$ for a clean one with belt?) but they are sought after by TMNT collectors. However, they do look kinda cool with a new coat of paint! :lookround:
The entire store seems devoted to cuteness and re-appropriating childhood icons - it's about nostalgia, not collectors.
-
Do not like. I'd be shocked and appalled if they got a buyer for that thing at that price.
-
Not to my taste but I don't mind her.
-
Not my cup of tea.
But I'm kind of glad it is what it is - when I read "Fabergé" in the description, my mind did a quick horrified assumption that some artist had sawn a pony in half to open with a hinge, then bedazzled it somehow, like a dime-store version of a Fabergé egg or something. Hey, not so far-fetched... this is Etsy, after all, home of the infamous pony + succulent "planters" ... :sigh: Guess it could've been way worse.
-
Its like shes staring at you, but without eyes.. Like Slenderman...
:yikes:
-
It looks creepy with no eyes but I do appreciate the creativity and time it took.
-
I don't mind it there are far more un-normal customs out there. My friend makes binkys out of pony heads. I supply him with the baitiest ponies I can find for his side project. Which I think is awesome that he respects toys so much to find me to ask before taking anything apart. :)
