I just received my box of Wave 8 blind bags that I had preordered. The bags have changed so there is no middle flap with the codes anymore, but there does seem to be a pattern to the imprint on the bottom of the bags. The bags were in order from AA to AZ (skipping J and Q) and those letters corresponded to the numbers on the cards:
A = 01 Applejack
B = 02 Big Macintosh
C = 03 Royal Riff
D = 04 Mosely Orange
E = 05 Gilda
F = 06 Flam
G = 07 Flim Skim
H = 08 Fluttershy
I = 09 Skywishes
K = 10 Granny Smith
L = 11 Princess Cadence
M = 12 Golden Harvest
N = 13 Flower Wishes
O = 14 Pinkie Pie
P = 15 Sassaflash
R = 16 Comet Tail
S = 17 Rainbow Dash
T = 18 Sunny Rays
U = 19 Gardinia Glow
V = 20 Lemon Hearts
W = 21 Rarity
X = 22 Ribbon Wishes
Y = 23 Lotus Blossom
Z = 24 Twilight Sparkle
the letters apear more than once on the bottom. Here are a couple of pictures to show what I'm referring to (this is Big Mac's bag so AB). Hopefully, this is true for all the boxes so it will still be possible to track down an individual pony in the stores.

Yes! These will be so much easier to decipher than past blind bags except for wave 1. That was easy. :lol:

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the codes! I was worried that with the bag style change they wouldn't have any and I'm only planning on buying 3 ponies from this wave so I'm super happy you were able to decipher it!
Oh, if you are able to, I'd love to see a comparison of the mane 6 in this wave to Wave 7. I'm interested to see how much the colors and transparency differ.

Oh wow, I have no idea what is supposed to be out Blind Bag wise right now! My local TRU had the yellow bags, now one of the Targets has the clear body/wonderbolts ones. Usually the Target stores go in order but it seems they skipped yellow? I looove glowy things thought so I look forward to this set :)

Here you go. Wave 7 is on the left and Wave 8 on the right.
For Rarity and Fluttershy, the main difference is that the new wave has much brighter hair. Wave 8 Fluttershy might be just a half shade darker and her eyes are a bit different in shape as well.

Twilight's hair is also brighter, but the Wave 7 version has a redder tone to the body color.

Rainbow Dash is much darker and has hot pink instead of red in her hair - the rest of the colors are brighter as well.

Pinkie Pie is a very bright hot pink.

Wave 8 Applejack is a neon orange that my camera hated. I tried my best to get a good comparison shot, but I'm not sure how well it came across - the difference is extremely noticeable in person.

How interesting about Fluttershy's eyes. The Crystal Motion Fluttershy I noticed looks like she have the same style. I wonder if brushable Fluttershy's eye style will change just like they changed Rainbow Dash's brushable ver. recently.

Wow, thanks for sharing!! I had no idea there had been a bag design change. I've been carrying around the codes from Strawberry Reef in my purse in case I see this wave out. I would've been SO confused to see all those letters instead of the numbers on the bags I was expecting. ;)

Yay! Thank you so much for sharing Breyer. The seam was a good place for a code but it was a worry that there would not be anything there to help people track down the ponies they want. This is a relief and so kind of you to sort it out for everyone.

Thank you SO MUCH for the comparision, Breyer600. I was looking for ways to trim my WANTED list of Wave 8s down and knowing what AJ and Rarity look like compared to the previous wave has helped me strike a pony off :3

Thanks so much, now to copy and paste the codes and see if they ever show up. Love the side by side shots. Any chance I can be nosy and ask where you brought em? I am thinking of for once just biting the bullet and buying em all at once. I still need about a 1/3 of wave 7 and have not seen in ages.

I preordered from BigBadToyStore. I had such a hard time with Waves 5 and 6, that I decided it was worth it to just get the full box and not have to worry about it.

To me this is going to make it more difficult to get the ponies I want. I liked the idea of the number codes. If Big Mac is B why does it say AB on the bag? To me that doesn't make sense. Looks like for future blind bag sets I'll just buy the box to make sure I get all 24.
[Edit] I went back and looked at the codes and maybe it won't be so hard.

All of them started with A but had a different second letter. So, Applejack was AA, Big Mac was AB, and so on right down to AZ for Twilight Sparkle. I just didn't bother adding the starting letter to the list since it was the same for everyone (similar to leaving off the extra numbers that were always the same in the lists for the previous waves codes). I found the letters much easier to tell apart than some of the numbers were.

I found Wave 8 at Hot Topic today! The price is more than anywhere else still but I figured since I was only getting a few from this wave I'd splurge.

Flim and Flam really do tower over just about all the others don't they? :P I think the only one taller is Princess Celestia (and the others in the same mold).
