Title: Willa, MY bunny
Post by: kaoskat on April 29, 2013, 07:40:55 AM: Well, hubby and I had each planned to get a bunny. He wanted a Holland Lop and I wanted a lionhead lop (or a lionhead or a Holland Lop). He got his Camille a few weeks ago, but I hadn't found MY bunny yet. Well, this weekend I found her! And she isn't anything at all I planned on getting, but she's MY bunny. She's got bunny pants and bright blue eyes and she's perfect! Meet Willa!

They have seperate cages because Cami is rather dominate and Willa, right now, is rather teeny.

She looks a Dutch mix, based on the "pants" and stops. She just missed out on the head markings. :)

I have a cat thats breed goes to shows but i picked the one with a "flaw" that disqualifies her- no tail lol. oh well. i think the flaws make them cute!

Of course they do!!!!! If she had her show markings, they wouldn't look as much like pants!!!! What really got me were her bright sky blue eyes, which are also disqualifying. :happy:

:shocked: but her blue eyes are soooo pretty! i love blue eyes on animals! ok i know i said im new to the bunny game but really people?! stupid rules. :silly:

In some cases\species eye color can indicate blindness or deafness or the animal carrying those issues. Also high white or odd white markings can indicate megacolon in some species. Mismarks can certainly indicate something went wrong with that animal so no showing as showing is for evaluating breeding stock. I dont mean to alarm u because if she is healthy by now she probably doesnt have anything that would keep her from living a long life as a pet but not knowing what caused the mismarks is why she wouldnt be shown.

However, she's not being bred or shown, just adored. If health issues arise, we will deal with them as they come, as we do with all of our "flawed" pets. And it doesn't mean she isn't completely adorable or super sweet.

Good that you know that. I wasn't under the impression you were interested in showing or breeding her but since the topic was started about her markings being a disqualification for shows I thought I'd add there is a reason so everybody knows its not just because the show people don't like the looks. I think, like human birthmarks, a large percent of mismarked animals don't have anything to worry about except being unique pets. I'd have picked her out too, she's so cute.

All the other bunnies we've had have always been particular about being picked up and most do not like the lifting/dangling in air before snuggles part. Will I can pick up any old way and she couldn't care less. All our other bunnies liked being stroked. Will doesn't care if you pet are all crazy like you are playing with a puppy. She's a perfect bunny for me and she's super sweet. :lovey:
