Title: MH Confessions Thread - Reloaded!
Post by: Zapper on April 06, 2013, 07:27:53 AM
Can I please revive this thread (http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,308420.0.html) here? I stumbled upon it by accident and had a really good laugh :)

Maybe I should start with something really juicy, eh?
-More than once I have contemplated to steal a really expensive doll just because I'm so angry at the high European prices. I'm usually incredibly moral, but somehow when it comes to stealing overpriced toys, the little devil on my shoulder is so much more vocal than the little angel. I'm only super scared of getting caught (cameras everywhere), that's why I will never do it, lol!

More funny stuff:
-I consider it a sport to introduce my friends to MH. When they become addicted I feel pride and shame at the same time (because of their poor wallets)
-I mostly dislike the werecats because I have a massive cat allergy and their - no pun intended -catty behaviour in the webisodes and specials doesn't help. I even intend to customize my Catrine into a unicorn because of that. Werecats - forever tainted!
-I think the girl dolls (and Gil) are really sexy. That's why I can't see them as teens. They do not look like they're 15 or 16. I just can't force my brain to accept that they're still going to a High School

Yes, yes you can! That was mine.  ^.^ Oh God I only had 4 back then. .-. I have 39 now what.

CONFESSIONS!
- I have 39 and a huge wishlist.  :P
- None of my friends except for one know about my collecting and even he doesn't know the extent
- I've had dreams of finding Holt
- What the heck?? I didn't like any version of Clawdeen?? I LOVE Clawdeen now!

- I have 10 dolls (and an 11th one on his way). I haven't even been collecting for a month.
- I think I stole somebody's Scaris Deuce. He was really hidden and facing the back and I took him anyway.
- I'm not a huge fan of the colour pink. This affects my buying habits.
- Sometimes, when I'm buying multiple dolls or going back and buying dolls from the same store I will casually mention that they are for my little cousins when they aren't (the little cousins will be allowed to play with some of them, but they're all for me) if I feel like the person behind the counter is judging me.
- I have never watched the webisodes and I'm not going to.
- I ship Deuce/Ghoulia and even getting a Cleo hasn't stopped me.

Haha! I remember this!

Let's see....

* I've gotten up to over 60... almost 70 dolls, and I've only been collecting since last July.
* I had to go out and buy a desk just for my dolls and things
* Monster High drug me into doll collections. I now have 10 Bratzillaz and 2 Pullips.
* I once bought a SO Frankie whose stand what missing the bottom and waist-holder parts. So I went and bought another one whose arm had fallen off in the package, stole those pieces, and then returned her because of her arm.
* I sold off most of my complete CAMs and now I really regret it!

I only got into them a week ago and I bought three in one day... Then I messaged an arena member two buy two more... then I added one more... and I'm about to message her to take another two, so FIVE in total...

I had dreams about them last night.

I'm about to go out shopping and look for more...  -_-

ok...

-I have about 281 (possibly more since I havent actually counted)
-I once bought a doll instead of paying my electric bill (but then returned the doll out of guilt and paid for my bill only to find out my bill was less than I was expecting and had enough left over to go rebuy the doll  )
-I sometimes tell my husband that I have either bought the dolls for cheaper or traded them when I have actually paid full price (he dislikes my doll collection)

I might as well add that more often than not I will be downstairs, then go upstairs and grab a doll off my shelf to bring downstair for "company".  :P Right now, Skelita is in my lap.

I buy dolls under the guise that they're for my daughters, but really I buy them for me!

More than once, I've wished that they made MH shoes in my size.

I've had dreams about finding MH dolls.

I have about 120 dolls and I've only been collecting since August.  I'm a total completionist, so once I have 1 in a line, I have to have them all.

I started searching for the dolls, because my kids wanted them.
Now I'm really making sure they get every character available, though just one version of them, they still say the don't need to repeat characters in different versions (except for Draculaura and Cleo, because they came with Clawd and Deuce, and they already had one of each ghoul) and they are not fans of incomplete Create a Monster (that is having one doll with no wig or one in limbs while the other diplays the torso).

Now we are just missing Howleen (but we are waiting for 13W version to come out) Holt, Gil, Scarah and Hoodude.
That is, until July when Twyla Howleen and Gigi come out :)
And also, if Catty Noirs hit the shelves.

Oh, speaking about shelves i got them a really nice ones, so the dolls can be on display and not in their box of dolls. We really need to buy another one because one more doll to the right and all the ones in the left will fall out.

And as for me, I have 3 Ghoulias for myself. And expect to have more.

Some of my collages at work already know of this hobbie, and every time a new doll arrives, i proudly send them an email to come meet the new ghoul or manster LOL

And for the last part, my boyfriend installed Led lights on the MH shelves (he installed them in his action figures shelves and wanted to share the geekness)

Okay, confession time it is...

-I started collecting in January and noe I have 47 dolls.

-Last month alone I bought or traded 16, because of that I declared this month a no more dolls month, but have caved once, while getting a doll for a member here, I snagged Sig Opie for myself. I loathed myself after that and as punishment, extended my ban until the middle of May.

-I either hang out here or cruise eBay for dollies, when I should be working. Like right now.

This one is a whopper. I bought Scaris Deuce, was exited as a cat with a hairtie and then I noticed he had massive explosive eye wonk!  >_< >_< >_< >_<. No, matter I had the receipt right? Nope! So after elonni told me where she found her Deuce and that there was one more, I dropped everything and sprang like a bat out of H*ll to the store, bouht the Deuce, went back the next day with my wonky one and returned him. Then I got Venus instead and paid the difference and was a happy camper. Yesterday I found mutant-wonky Deuce's receipt, which I had cleverly stored in a pile next to my MH things.

-I think I lost my Sweet 1600 invite, from Cupid's package, so what do I do? Act like a reasonable person and go; "hey, it's a piece of plastic, whatevs..." Nope! I go on eBay in a nauseous panic, find a seller, who is selling Lala's cake and an invite and buy them for 3€ and  shipping, because of... Reasons...

And last but certainly not least...

-Today, fiance, my lovely squishy dearest asks me; "so, sweetie, how much have you used on your dolls?"
and I say; "Umm... I don't want to tell you..."
He says; "c'mon, it's ok",
I say: " Maybe 500 €..." LIES!!!!! ALL LIES!!!!!!!!!
He says; "Ok, good to know, that means I can buy something expensive too."

So here I am a doll collector and I lied to Sweetie, because I'm embarrassed of how obsessive I have become... And the actual amount of money I have used. i refuse to think about it.

This feels better, phew, I got everything off my chest, for now that is... There will be more I'm sure.

This is fun and funny!

I don't know that I really have any confessions though, since I feel no guilt for loving these ghouls although....

-I too have not paid an electric bill, and I really did owe it, just to afford more MH one month
-I secretly hope they come out with each character for EACH line, i.e EVERY character in a DOTD outfit, EVERY character in a Sweet 1600 outfit/box...even though it would mean I'd be FORCED to buy each and every one of these dolls no matter the cost, just to complete the "wave"
-When I see boy dolls, I want to buy them all, even though I know they are scarce and other will want them for THEIR  collectioin
-Even though I myself am gay, I do not ship ANY of my characters into gay relationships, and I'm ashamed of that!

-Even though I myself am gay, I do not ship ANY of my characters into gay relationships, and I'm ashamed of that!

Hey, if you don't see any chemistry between them, why should you force yourself to ship them? :/
And MH is full of very likeable canon het couples, sometimes I feel bad for breaking some of them up in my head. For example Heath and Abbey. They're not really a legit couple yet, but they are so much fun together. Yet I can only see Abbey with Frankie. Oops.
Title: Re: MH Confessions Thread - Reloaded!
Post by: Nana-Rena on April 06, 2013, 10:45:26 AM
I don't usualy ship any  toys, but no that you point it out, Abbey and Frankie do have chemistry. Somehow they seem closer than the toher ghouls, now that I think about it, so I can totally see why you ship them and I agree that they make a cute couple.

I also agree that if no chemistry exists, why ship them. The problem with shipping boys is that there are so few that when you try to find a couple that clicks you might soon run out of boys before finding a couple that clicks. If you know what I mean?

and to return on topic, I have one more confession. While I work (hakf heartedly) Abbey is sitting with me and looks so disappointed in me . I have taken the habbit of having a ghoul with me while I work. That gives me a chance to oogle them, be cheered up and maybe even motivated to work. Maybe...

-I have fought off the impulse, several times, to take a new doll to bed with me like I did with my Barbies when I was eight years old.
I'm almost 47, btw. And married. I compromised last time I was sick and took some to the hospital with me, where they 'lived' on that funky over-bed table thing.

-Due to where I live and just plain seeing far too many of 'em, I don't like Skelita and I truly hate any repainted sugar skull MH dolls now. I'm sorry - I've seen some real beauties and some real sincere attempts, but the constant over-exposure has made me hate 'em all. It's just overload, nothing personal.

-The more I fight against getting a new doll - usually an established character in new clothes - the more likely I am to end up with him/her. The ones I don't care about at all I don't get. If I'm fighting, I'm wanting - and I usually get somehow.

-Now that I have my Grail - DotD Deuce - I'm not as 'into' hunting for more dolls, trawling eBay for hours, etc. I've shifted into more of a 'creative' mode, and even made my HooDude some shorts yesterday. I've even - gasp ! - turned away from several offers for neat shoes !

-I can't stand it when someone posts a photo of a doll something they wanna sell, and their model's hair is a rat's nest and the wrists are turned to a position that'd hurt a real person. I refuse to buy when I see that, I figure if they don't care for the doll, they don't care about their items for sale, either.

-I can't wait for Mattel to make Slow-Moe, so I have a CAM gargoyle with a bad haircut standing in for him. What can I say, I love Ghoulia too much to let her be lonely ! (geez, I'm crazy...)

-I voraciously read everyone else's secrets, and nod knowingly at nearly every one !

Since that last thread, I have gotten a divorce:(  Sad I know, BUT it has made for some awesome confessions   For example:

* I do not have a dining room.  I have a DOLL room.

* Part of my kitchen counter is devoted to dolls.  It's my waiting room for the spa

* During my move, I lost a minuscule object from Cleo's Vanity.  I had to have it back!  I made a wanted thread for it, prepared to buy or trade for the item.  What I wouldn't do for a complete collection! (A wonderful member helped me out for free!  LOVE this place.)

* I will pay $10 for a SS Gil neon orange doll stand.  My Gil came with a teal stand, and my collection feels incomplete without the orange one.  Making this confession even worse, is that my SS dolls currently do not USE their stands, so why do I need a stand that isn't going to be used?

* Gloom Beach Draculaura's "cloudy" sunglasses ALWAYS bothered me!  They were the only pair in the line that weren't crystal clear.  When Roadster Lala came out, with the recast GB sunglasses but this time clear(!!!) she graciously swapped with my GB Lala.  So now all my GB sunglasses are clear:)  It's the little things!

* I have 3 Powder Room sets, and 2 Scooters:(  Don't ask.

* If I had the money, I'd love to be a MIB AND loose collector.  I've noticed some of my girls are literally collecting dust:(  Boxes are alot easier to keep dust free!

 Confessions of a Monsterhaulic   ^.^

Lets see... Where to start!

I started collecting Monster High when you could actually still find Jackson and Gil in stores! I had them all and started to feel guilty about collecting them and the money it was costing, plus we were remodeling our home to sell and needed the money, so I sold them over the Summer. I recently ended up collecting again in November 2012 and my jaw about hit the floor when I found out that Gil who I paid $14.99 for was now worth waaay much more! I was so mad at myself for selling him, if I would have just hung onto him, but I figured I could just get him again later argh! :lookround: if I only knew then what I see now on ebay lol

So from November to now, I added it up and I have spent about $5,000 in MH dolls and MH items.
I am a completionist and I like the feeling of the instant gratification of getting a doll I am missing  16 more dolls and I am caught up with the line, so I am thinking of other "toys" I can part with to get those missing ones  :lookround: I think I am over obsessed  but I like them!!!!!!  :P

I wont share my CAM photos in fears of copying someone elses wig combo idea, even though there are tons of wigs, I have seen a couple dolls that another person put the same wig on and I don't want to make anyone feel like I copied them when I haven't (Just the same idea with the Monster and wig color)

I am sure there is more but this was enough for now  felt good to get it out there  :P

Yeah chemistry in toys is hard for me to come by...it happens, but very rarely...in fact I think only 3 or 4 of my ponies are "coupled", even though I LOVE the loving families, so you'd think I'd want more...

But yeah, I guess "ashamed" is a strong word, but it's true, even with Cam Clark voicing Heath, I still don't see him or any of the guys as gay, or the girls for that matter...Clawdeen came close though, when she was not wanting a boyfriend in the special.
another confession:
-I do find Holt/Jackson's voice quite annoying

I do impressions of Holt's high pitched "yeeeeaaaaaah!!!" yelling when I'm tipsy. It actually sounds like him and it cracks people up when I do it because I'm usually pretty quiet. I don't actually tell people who I am imitating.

I recently got a DOtD Deuce and he is the most handsome thing I have ever seen! So much swooning. I just can't get over how handsome he is and I have no idea why. I'd seen pictures of him and thought he was neat looking but in person he's almost too handsome. I'm weird.

Haha, I remember that old thread.  I haven't cried in frustration and woe over failing to find a doll since last year's Rochelle incident, buuut if I have as much trouble finding Twyla this year... it might happen again  >_<

My newest confession is that I swore I didn't need, didn't want, wouldn't ever get any of the beach lines... now I have all three Swim ghouls and I LOVE THEM.

I don't have a ton of confessions yet, as I literally started collecting yesterday. xD But here goes:

- Like others have said, I have lied about who I'm giving the doll to. I know it shouldn't matter, but sometimes I feel the cashier's judgy eyes and I have to throw a "this is for my sister" line in there. This is the same with ponies as well.
- I am a "only one doll of each character" person. I cannot have doubles, even from different lines. Same with ponies. I freak out. Only one!! Luckily this somewhat limits the ridiculous amount of money I can spend on collecting...
- I have loved MH since it came out but it took me until now to have the guts to buy them for myself.
Title: Re: MH Confessions Thread - Reloaded!

--When I saw the very first MH commercials, I was jealous of little girls today because I thought the line was really cool. I told myself, "if these dolls existed when I was little, I would collect them." I thought I was too old to collect toys.

--If it weren't for ponies, I wouldn't collect MH! Ponies brought me to the Arena. I was only a G4 collector at the time and I had all the ponies I wanted so I was done. Until I started lurking on the MH board...

--I don't post pictures of my collection because I'm embarrassed at my lack of photography skills. (This also applies to ponies)

--Sometimes I hide new dolls from my boyfriend's family because I'm afraid of the possible "You got another doll?" reaction  Which is weird because they fully support my collections, they even got me a nice cabinet for it :)

--I don't have any bills (but I do have other expenses) to pay so I sometimes spend enough money on dolls (and ponies) to where I literally have $0.00 in my bank account

--If I were to get every doll on my wantlist, it would double my collection.

--Because of MH, I don't reject anything that would normally be deemed as childish anymore. I've set my inner child free :P

*looks back at list* Oh geez, that's a lot of confessions  I hope that's all.

And now I have 41. .-. Ok, ok, I can explain! My dad gave me $30 in Khol's cash because he didn't want anything so I got rollermaze Frankie and Lagoona for FREE! Should I really feel guilty about getting something FREE? :drunk:

I confess:

* Before MH I HATED dolls. Just HATED them. Now ... *so much love*

* I think I love my dolls more than some of my ponies.

* I've bought Moxies and Bratz just to steal their outfits for my MH dolls.

* I don't buy myself new clothes anymore... that money goes to dolls instead!!

Ok my daughter who is now 7 got some of these dolls last year, and i just had to have them all.. I dont lie about who i am buying dolls for, never have probably never will. I have spent way to much on dolls.. and my ponies that I collect took a back burner since I started.. (sad to know what I have spent on mh i could have my pony wishlist done)

I have managed to pay all my bills and still buy diapers, toliet paper, rabbit food/bedding, a dog, dog food etc and still buy dolls..

I have a great friend who is like a walmart layaway: he buys my dolls and lets me pay them off..and i get them sent to me so I can adore them before I pay them off. He has a whole round again for me right now *sighs* YAY for great friends

My mother hates all my collections and says its a waste of time and wont ever buy anything for my collections
I secretly hate my mother*

I have also gotten my 11 year old son addicted to having these dolls.. shame on mom*

I am always on the hunt.. when I find dolls and even if they arent on my wantlist they end up staying with me if I dont already have them..

I have custom ideas but am afraid that if i do a face up i'll screw the doll up.. cuz i cant draw eyes for crap**

I have NEVER liked dolls.. and now i am searching for a cheap bjd.. oh mh sends you that way

ok ok thats enough for me for now

OK, confession time:

- I started collecting MH in January and I now have 32 dolls, 4 OOAKs and some nude ones (with more on the way in all three categories).

- My MH craze has rekindled my love for dolls and I have been buying other kinds of dolls too. Just got a Lalaloopsy in the mail last week. Before this, I would buy dolls mostly for my daughter.

- I am considering buying a cabinet or bookshelf to put all my dolls, since now they are taking over my table and one free shelf I had on my current bookshelf.

- I don't know what I would say if people at toy stores asked me who the dolls would be for. Luckily, most of the time here, they don't ask. I would probably say they are for my 2-year-old daughter (though it sounds crazy that she could have one at this age :)).

- I only talk about my collection to a few people and close friends. My husband knows about them, but I don't go into detail on the time I spend hunting for them on Ebay and Etsy, what I paid for some of them or even how many I have. I'm happy though that I've been spending quite a bit of my time learning how to customize them too, I feel that makes up for all the buying. :)

- Whenever I pass by a store that stocks MH, I have to go inside and "quickly" check what they have.

- I was not supposed to buy PD Draculaura last Friday, it was not in my plans. It just... happened.

Ok here are my confessions.

~ When MH first came out I was ogling them in the store and really wanted to get some but didn't want to start any new collections. http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,288253.0.html If you look at this old thread I made you can kind of see why I am leery of starting new collections.

~ My Husband told me to just buy them anyway because I was going to end up with them eventually anyway. I did pretty good in resisting, but this past November when we finally moved into our new house I ended up caving. I have since November accumulated over 30 dolls and have spent over $700 on dolls.

~ I never feel the need to lie about who my dolls are for at the store, I collect too much stuff to worry.

~ When you look at my house from outside at night and the lights are on inside you can see the silouhettes of hundreds of little men. (Not my MH but I think it is funny anyway.)
Title: Re: MH Confessions Thread - Reloaded!
Post by: Maniah on April 07, 2013, 05:58:55 AM
- I have never lied about who a doll is for. I cheerfully decline offers of gift receipts and state that the toy is for my collection, and I never get any hassle.

- I have bought dolls with my husband present, only to have him question me because he thought I was saving money. I tell him the dolls are to trade, or resell on ebay. I've only actually sold 4 out of about 8 that I got like this. The remaining ones, Im not too sure about parting with yet.

- I have a bag of clothes and accessories that I dont use, but cant bring myself to get rid of.

- I bought a sewing machine just to learn to sew doll clothes, but I havent had much time to use it so far. I also had wanted to learn to make plushies for a while.

- I rearranged all the furniture in my house and am buying new pieces just to make room for a craft station for myself, and a doll display case. The display case is the last item I need to buy.

- I am terrified to customize any of the dolls I have with faceups, because I have seen so many customs posted that I really dislike, and I don't want to add to that. So even though I really want to try, I have kept putting it off, and I will keep putting it off.

Confession?

* I spoil 'some' of my dolls. Like Abbey who has about four times as mutch clothes like the rest of the dolls ..together...
* I don't collect the boys but still beats myself up for not buying Gil when I litterally had him in my hands. -__-*
* Sometimes I pretend that I buy dolls for my younger sister because I get embaressed. (I really HATE when I do that! Since I'm so confident with everything else.)
* I got really jealous of my mothers friends 9 year old. She visited me, got all lovey-dovey over my dolls, got home and her dad bought her 9 dolls that night, 9 DOLLS!!! That's like...my whole years doll-budget T__T And she does'nt even play with them now - the brat gets new obcessions every week and her parents SPOIL her :'( When I asked what she did to the dolls when she stopped playing with them, she told me they just threw them away. THROW THEM AWAY!? Needless to say, I was a bit disturbed by that.
* I believe dolls suffocate in box, therefore I cannot keep them MIB even if I want too! D: I envy all that can!
* I will be really sad if Elisabat does'nt get released, Since I have a twin sister named Elisabeth and she used to dress as a bat for the carneval in my hometown! XD I mean...this is too good to be true! She would laugh her a** off!

Edit: And I wan't them to make new hand-molds for Abbey! She needs gestures!

I'm so tempted to write you a list of the characters i recognized or used to have, but can't remember the name or the series they were from. But it would be like Case 2, 3rd picture, 2nd row, 5th doll from left to right, so I better not, because it would be a long list

Ok one more...

- ALL of the stores I shop for monster high from know me as the mh collector lady... Lol
Priceless!

--When I saw the very first MH commercials, I was jealous of little girls today because I thought the line was really cool. I told myself, "if these dolls existed when I was little, I would collect them." I thought I was too old to collect toys.[/img]

Something like that happened to me. My daughters like the dolls and started asking for them I got them one for each two Christmas ago and that was it. But then started watching the webisodes with them, and hell went loose if we didn't find a doll and since their boom in Mexico it was practically impossible to find them here. So I started getting them online and shipped here or to a relative's house in US.
My boyfriend said something like isn't it too much trouble to get them? And i answered something like, but they are so cute! There weren't any dolls like this when i was young :(
And he went all serious and told me something i hadn't think about.
"I just realized, the dolls are also for you"
Since then he helps me acquire them :)
He felt the girls needed to learn how to care more for their dolls so he convinced me to get shelves so they could have them in display and respect them. It worked. They haven't lost any more pieces since then.

Then he gave me my first Ghoulia

I'm starting to get doubles of all my CAMs because once I get a CAM in a 'signature' outfit and wig, I feel very badly putting her in a new look as it feels as if she's giving up her identity. So now I have two bee girls, two sea monsters, a second skeleton on the way, and I'm thinking about getting a second gorgon as well...

Okay, where to start...

~I have spent over 1100 on dolls. Trying to total it all up is too much effort. This does not include my baits/custom projects.

~I have started about 10 customs, and only finished 1. Who's face I will probably redo.

~I have 76 dolls I consider to be in my collection. This doesn't count the customs, or a few I will prolly sell. Eventually.

~I live at home, and hide when I buy new dolls from my mother because I know she sees them as a waste of money.

~Although I am lackluster on a number I have, I don't want to sell them because then they will be gone. And I like at least parts of their outfits.

~I have a drawer full of extra clothes. And wigs that I don't care for, but still have.

~I have a drawer full of stands and brushes, because I don't use them all. At least they are not scattered.

~I have rearranged my collection just to hide that I got new dolls, so that they would be lost in the mass of faces.

-I, too, have lied about who the doll is for on a few occasions. Mostly when I've been to the same place a few times waiting to restock. I have a fictional niece who the dolls are supposedly for. In reality, my fiance is an only child and I have a younger sister (she's 21) who will probably never have children because she doesn't like them. And I said niece instead of daughter because I'm 24 and look younger and I don't want to be judged for my age at my fictional child's birth. I thought waaaaay too far into it.

-Once I even went so far as to disparage the dolls, saying "Look at them, their butts are the same size as their heads, who plays with something like that?" because a saleswoman was treating me like I was a total creeper. There weren't ANY kids in the store when I was there, but she made me feel like a total pervert!!

-When I see people who have done really good face repaints, I respect and admire them for their talent... But underneath actually get a little bit angry. I love painting, but I CANNOT paint tiny details because my hands shake very badly. I tried to redo lips on one of my ghouls and it looked so atrocious that I cried about it.

I've got a couple :'D

I got a seasonal job at Toys R Us last holiday season so I could get discounts on MH and know right when the dolls hit the shelves. I did not stay there long though, and only got Picture Day Cleo. Right after my shift ended I signed out, went straight to the MH shelf, grabbed Cleo, and put her on the register so my coworker could ring her up. They thought it was hilarious :D

I had a time when I was going absolutely mental over finding these dolls in December. It was Jinafire that did it. I could not find her anywhere, while it seemed everyone had already gotten theirs. I also absolutely wanted her before or on my birthday (Dec. 22nd.) because I felt a real personal attraction to her (I'm asian - Japanese though, not Chinese). And I was absolutely terrified I would never be able to find her. That was a point when collecting was just not fun for me - putting myself into a frenzy and stressing myself out! And then (of course!) after I bought her from Amazon, I found her on the shelf at my local Walmart...and everywhere else...:P So I stopped caring so much. It's much easier now, thankfully! Especially since they seemed to have greatly improved on distribution, and each line seems to hang around for quite a good amount of time before retiring.

Oh, this one's bad...I have 4 signature Spectras  My original one, the second wave one with silver earrings, I bought from a member on here from the Netherlands for $64! I was really new to collecting then and I had no idea they would re-release her. I also have two of the re-released version, because I'm hoping to have one of them rehaired in blonde. And then I found the very first release of Sig. Spectra at Target over winter break, just sitting there and at normal price! I just could not walk away from her :D Only the first release and one of the re-released versions are in their stock outfits. The second release is in the first Spectra fashion pack, while the other re-release Spectra is in a custom etsy dress.

- If I ever won the lottery I'd spend far too much on dolls.
- Despite the fact I've promised myself I am not going to get doubles I'm seriously considering buying a second Scaris Deuce to keep MIB as an investment.
- I feel kind of bad that I didn't give up one of my two new CAM packs to an actual parent looking for them for his kid. She didn't have the Gorgon/Mummy one which I didn't want so it was okay, but still.
- I want to customise my werewolf but I'm terrified that she'll look horrible and that I will have ruined her.

Yeah, I wasn't counting outfits. For mine, I just go for either Bratz clothing lots, or have been slowly trying to make my own.

- I want to customise my werewolf but I'm terrified that she'll look horrible and that I will have ruined her.

Do it! You can always decide you hate it later and redo the face or sneak to the sales thread and offer her as a bait for trade. Lots of people like her for customs.
And if end comes to end she was a $10 doll.

…..
-I started collecting in October- I have 30+ dolls I think
-I have bought dolls with bill money. but never so much to where it was a real problem just got put off a couple days.
-I have calculated how much my hubby has spent so I can justify my spending habits.
-I have hidden dolls away in my trunk for a few weeks so it looks like I spaced out my purchases, when in fact I just found a doll that I had to have (and never saw again)
-Everyday my husband asks me “so what’d ya buy?” he doesn’t even look at the bank account any more he just traps me into telling him. Lol
-I feel the need to buy every boy doll I see, even though I know others are looking for them (kids)
-I got my step-daughter into MH just so I could justify buying more, and the DVD’s.
-I look at dolls while at work, and I go on the arena, when I have work or school work to do…
-I had special shelves built by my hubby just for my dolls…hehe..
-I will just stand and look at my dolls and kinda space out… and fix positioning/ hair as needed.
-I play with my dolls more than my daughters do.
-I go doll hunting even if I have NO money at all. I mostly go at lunch when no one can stop me 
-My parents know about my dolls and listen to my rambleings (its normal to them) but my mother in law is really bad at white lies and says oh that’s nice while giving me this look like I collect devil figures lol. She collects antiques I collect toys that in 20 years will be antiques I really don’t see the problem. LMAO.
-Guilty as charged! LOL

I've gathered my courage and I'm going to. I bought a cheap Barbie to practice on and I don't have any sealant but I have acrylics and a teeny brush.

At least the MH dolls don't have teeth like Barbie.

And a confession

- I passed up a Sig. Operetta but I'm probably going to go and get her tomorrow.

Woo customs! Also, I remembered another confession too.

~My first reaction to Alice in Virtue's Last Reward was I need to dress Nefera as her. And I have searched for reference pictures to help me do this.

~I own 3 Scaris Deuces, because I have seen three, and still want to try customizing one of them even though I know I can wait and sell him for double what I paid ($10) later.

I have a werewolf character already so she's going to be her. I just need a blonde wig and/or blonde rehairing.

Don't encourage me. I've seen a second Scaris Deuce and I'm really tempted to buy him and hide him and sell him in a year.

- I have only been collecting MH for a year (though I've been ogling them ever since they first came out), but I have lost track of how many dolls are in my collection, as I have no place to display them.

- My husband does not know about some of the dolls I've bought, and I've also told him that some of them were cheaper than they really were, because I'm afraid he'll stop being supportive of my collecting.

- I feel quite guilty about how much money I've spent on dolls this past year, because I am unemployed and we are definitely on the poor side; I keep buying them though, because they make me happy and not much does these days.

- I have not told my mother that I collect MH dolls, even though she has boxes of MH stuff that's been delivered to her house for me (she's in the States, I'm in Canada) - I've led her to believe my interest in the dolls is purely artistic and/or that I'm hoping to make money with them.

- I have plans for at least 10 different custom dolls and have 5 different customizing projects that I've started, but I spend more time looking at MH stuff online than I do actually working on my own customs.  This makes me feel especially guilty as I am a professional artist and am supposed to be working on stuff for my portfolio while I am unemployed.

- I am 33 years old and married, but sometimes I play with my MH dolls like I'm a little kid.  I don't feel guilty about that part at all.

- Have about 30 regulars, 5 completed CAMs, and a pile of parts to make 6 more
- Try to hold out to buy the cheapest versions: thin box, on sale, etc.
- Now a good pair of shoes will make or break if I buy a doll
- I wish more of the dolls were softer on the make-up
- Love the concept of Spectra, still have not found one to spend money on.
- I am older than I should be.
- Have doubles of Catrine and Deuce, in case I ruin the first ones.
- bought Scaris Abbey only to complete the set

- Like others have said, I have lied about who I'm giving the doll to. I know it shouldn't matter, but sometimes I feel the cashier's judgy eyes and I have to throw a "this is for my sister" line in there. This is the same with ponies as well.

Haha, the cashiers always ask me if I want the dolls in gift wrap. I just chuckle to myself and reply with a very awkward "ehm, no thanks"  >_< I don't actually lie, but it's not like I want to say it's for me, either

My confession is that I buy dolls and don't tell my fiance about it. I go shopping for them when he's not at home, or order them online so he's at work when they arrive. I'm a bad person    (It's my own money, but I'm not working at the moment so I should be using it to food and bills and stuff.)

I confess:

* I recently spent about 5 solid hours sprucing up and photographing my entire collection. That's five hours I'll never get back, when I should have been working... but oh, it was SO fun!!!

* I just bought another doggone skeleton CAM which I don't need.. just because I like her whiteness, compared to Skelita's cream-colored bones.

* And I just bought yet another (this makes #3) Spectra fashion pack... because that gorgeous purple one-sleeved dress is just amazing, and it looks good on ALL the ghouls!!

See??

Oh confessions? Hmm.. well
-I have become addicted to rehairing. I've done 6 dolls in less then 1 month and now everytime I look at my other dolls in my collection I secretly ask myself what other colors they would look good in. I also have debated removing different dolls from my collection just to rehair them..

-I have so many dolls that come in (and out.. sometimes) of my collection that I don't even have a count anymore.

-My 3 year old daughter is obsessed with MH now thanks to me. She wants MH everything. She also knows the name to every doll, which shoes each doll wears, who's dating who and so on..

-I got the phrase "freaky fabulous" and MH skulls tattooed on my knuckles. Yes, I love monster high a lot, and I love the phrase. I'm also debating getting a MH leg sleeve done too.

-I have gone through numerous phases where I try to sell whatever I can quickly to buy more dolls then get mad at myself when I'm not saving the money for specific dolls coming out.

ROFLMAO I am guilty of this too.  Skelita is spoiled rotten and 95% of clothes I buy are for/or end up being hers LOL.  She will share some things, but others she will not share.  Funny enough though she gave her signature outfit to Venus, and her signature shoes to SS Ghoulia.  Guess she was tired of wearing it LOL.

Every time I say "no more dolls until summer (when new collections and characters will be released)" I end up getting something anyway.

Also, I got the 4 deluxe pack recently out of pure excitement, and then one of the kids make me realized that 3 of the outfits were for her some of her dolls characters and one for one of mines. And none for my other kid. We have a shared collection so that we have no duplicated characters (except for my Ghoulias which are the only dolls that are really mine, and Cleo and Draculaura that came with the boys) and I should've noted that, but I just thought MH Clothes! yeeeeey!!

So i quickly ordered the fashion packs from scaris that after reviewing and confirming, I know will be mostly for the one that got none.

I mean, all the dolls can share clothes, but they do look more accordingly in the fashion thought especially for them.

I ship Deuce and Rochelle. And even though I have a Cleo I don't care.  :P

I would wear half the shoes and outfits they have come out with. I'd love to have the tombstone dress that comes with Ghoulia's fashion pack.

Cleo is my least favorite doll. She just isn't monsterish enough for me and the diamond beauty mark drives me bonkers for no explicable reason.

If you told me 2 years ago that I would have over 30 dolls in my room and planing on getting many more I wouldn't have believed you.

I might as well add that more often than not I will be downstairs, then go upstairs and grab a doll off my shelf to bring downstair for "company".  :P Right now, Skelita is in my lap.

I do this. I stay in my room most of the day, but sometimes, when I go downstairs, I like to bring someone with me to play with. :)

I seriously need to stop saying "no more dolls until july".
It's like a cursed phrase or spell, and the consequences are of course more dolls or accesories each week +_+
