I figured we could share our meals we had as a child, but never get tired of when you are grown up.
Mine? Tomato Basil soup with grilled cheese >w<
-
Chicken flavored Rice-A-Roni. Still one of my favorites.
-
Spaghetti-O's XD
-
Rice Pilaf! Sadly most stores have stopped selling the kind that I like D:
-
Mmmmmm yellow saffron rice. Or possibly fried eggs, sunny side up.
-
Kraft mac n cheese
-
Chicken and dumplings. Or as I mistook the last part, at age three "ducklings".
Quickly got over my shock and it's one of my favorite meals to this day.
-
Macaroni and Cheese.
-
Mmm pizza and lasagna.
-
Kraft mac n cheese
This
-
fried egg sandwiches.
-
Spaghetti Bolognese! Especially the one at Sizzlers. Every time I go there I have to get a plate of spaghetti first. :)
-
My Dad's roast chicken :yummy:
-
Baked beans on cheese on toast :) and welsh rarebit :) and macaroni, tomato and onion :)
-
Tacos. I cook it every week now, I still love it!!
-
Lucky Charms with chocolate milk. I don't care how old I am, I'm picking out those oats!
-
My mum's dumplings and gravy and all kinds of pasta dishes. Ultimate comfort food!
-
My moms veggie soup. Mmm I want some now.
-
For me its a toss up between fish finger sandwiches (on thick white bread with plenty of tomato ketchup) or smoked fish (the yellowy coloured stuff) with bread and butter. Sadly fresh smoked fish is expensive so I have to get frozen nowadays :( but its still quite tasty!!
-
Fried chicken strips with ketchup. Loved it as a kid, love it even more as an adult.
Mac n' cheese would be another one. Ate it a lot as a kid and still do.
-
Mozzarella sticks. :9
-
To be fully honest, I have yet to outgrow childhood meals! I prefer the grilled cheese, French toast, Spaghettios, chicken fingers and macaroni and cheese over what a 16 year old normally would want to eat. I don't remember the last time I didn't order off of a children's menu! A lot of my friends (and teachers) laugh at me for that!
-
McDonalds Chicken nuggets with honey and fries.. omg those chicken nuggets still taste good even as an adult!
also gotta have the orange drink with it :)
-
I think it´s my dads mashed potatoes :yummy:
and I still like it alot! :D
-
stirfry probably, but its not something i can have very often :)
-
Beef stew tacos. XD
Spagetti-o's, too, but they've honestly lost a lot of their appeal for e.
-
Grilled cheese & tomato soup. YES! nom
-
my diet regularly consists of my fave childhood meals!
jacket potato with tuna mayonaise and sweetcorn
corned beef hash with peas and ketchup
sausage, mash, peas and ketchup, with the sausages cut up and it all mixed up together :)
kedgeree
i can't think of any more off the top of my head but those are my absolute faves
-
Velveeta shells & cheese.
I don't care, when I'm sick I simply will not get well without it.
-
Mac and cheese with ketchup. Yes.
-
Grilled cheese, and my moms tuna noodle casserole!! Yummy makes me want some tuna noodle.
-
My favourite childhood meal is won ton soup and fried rice from the local Chinese restaurant... it was always a treat then, and it still is now. ^.^ Follow it up with a May West snacky cake and a bottle (glass bottle, mind) of cream soda... wow, it's suddenly 1979 in my head! Oh, I'm old...
-
BBQ chicken wings. Love them especially from Dominos but havent had them in years.
-
Fish sticks with macaroni and cheese!
BUT the macaroni and cheese has to be made with Velveeta and be kinda cheesy so I can dip my fish sticks in it. >.>
<.<
My secret's out.
-
Tuna Helper
mm~
-
Chicken, rice and currysauce. I loved it as a kid and love it now.
-
My ultimate comfort food is definitely grilled cheese and tomato soup, but right after it would be my dad's "double decker pie."
You take ground beef and mix bread crumbs, an egg, onion flakes, and tomato juice together with your hands. (It just doesn't get mixed very well if you use anything but your hands.) Pat the mixture down on a casserole dish, then on top of that add a layer of rice, and on top of that add a layer of frozen broccoli. Cover the broccoli with slices of cheese, then bake and enjoy the deliciousness.
It's phenomenal, but I'm a vegetarian these days and have been making it with vegan ground beef from Wal Mart. (I can never remember the brand name.) It's not quite as good since the "beef" doesn't have the same properties as actual beef, but it's close enough and it's still enjoyable. :)

Omigosh, Rachel-Eyes, my mum used to make that!! It's been years... and her version (she called it Country Pie) had minced green peppers and onions in with the meat crust, then skipped the broccoli... but the meaty crust and cheesy-and-ricey goodness... mmmmm...! Thank you so much for reminding me of this! I'm going to have to dig out her recipe and whip it up for my son - he just doesn't know what he's missing! ^.^
-
Really? That's super cool, Sugar! I know that my dad got it from a cookbook, so it's not like it's an old family secret or anything. I like that variation though. Green peppers are yummy! :dribble: Definitely make that for your son!
-
My favorite meal since childhood is still my mom's fried rice. :)
-
Velveeta shells & cheese.
I don't care, when I'm sick I simply will not get well without it.
This! the ultimate mac and cheese :D
-
Kraft mac n cheese
This
Agreed.
-
I'm another Mac N Cheese girl! It's so hard sharing with the kids lol!
-
Peanut butter and Nutela sandwiches I could eat those forever
-
so many and luckily I have a kid so i have loads of excuses to make these meals
grilled cheese and tomatoe soup
hot dogs with mac and cheese and green beans
sloppy joes with green beans
and our favorite baked nachos!
-
My Grandmother used to make Polish Sausage perfectly but I have yet to meet a person who makes it as good as she did. I still eat it on a somewhat regular basis though :)
-
Lasange. I'm Garfield at heart really...
-
I think mac n cheese since it's usually considered kids food.
Gotta be the spirals though. Shapes are fine too. They don't get mushy like the regular noodles.
-
I'm with hawaiianrain on this one! It's all about the chicken nuggets and honey :)
-
red pasta. i dont know if its a proper dish or not so thats the only name i know it by. its like.... mmmmmmmmmmmm... just thinking about it makes me drool
-
I'm happy to see a couple of your guys saying Chicken McNuggets with the HONEY ("You mean honey mustard?" "No, just plain honey." --- I have this conversation exchange at least every other time I order Chicken McNuggets, lol).
The food I eat as a kid is the exact same as I eat now (which probably isn't good for me, oops)... cheese pizza, toasted ravioli, butter noodles, and naturally - as the majority seems to dictate - macoroni and cheese.
-
Oh! When I told people in my family I used to eat chicken nuggets with honey, they thought it was weird. But it makes a great sweet/salty combo. I should try it again.
-
Another one that I just remembered are Lunchable pizzas! I get them every now and then to remind me of being a kid. I just always loved the flatness of the pizza crackers, and cheese. Anything with cheese is always good with me! :cheese:

Mmmmm I used to love those. I liked the pizza crusts they gave...and the sauce.
-
This is sort of hard since I was extremely picky as a child. I refused most foods.
Still there is something I still like a lot and eat regularly that I have loved since childhood; spaghetti bolognese and macaroni casserole (I think that's what it's called in English)
I also like fish fingers, but I eat them very rarely nowadays, I used to love them a lot and eat them all the time when I was little.
-
Kraft Mac and Cheese. Pretty much all the kids cereals I still enjoy. The ones like Lucky Charms, Fruit Loops, etc.
-
I have been known to eat my weight in Cocoa Pebbles, too.
-
Corn Flakes with chocolate syrup on top! :D
I always had it at my grandmother's house when I was a kid and to this day I can't eat Corn Flakes plain
-
Rice congee soup... apparently I was still exclusively eating this "baby food" at the age of 3-4.
Home-made chicken soup
"Macaroni soup"... elbow macaroni in a soup with home-made meatballs and tomatoes
Ramen (I use my own broth)
LOL Looking at my list made me realize I like "soupy" foods.
-
Kraft mac and cheese! :P
-
Meatloaf <3<3 But only the way my mom made it.
-
bacon and egg burgers with chips my mum made me when she grilled me about my teenage escapades... mum just because you bribed me with delicious fried goods, doesn't mean you can get it out of me!
-
Grilled Cheese with chicken and stars soup, peanut butter and peach jelly, and not really a meal but my grandpa's version of a chocolate milk shake, just chocolate ice cream in a cup with milk poured onto it.
-
and not really a meal but my grandpa's version of a chocolate milk shake, just chocolate ice cream in a cup with milk poured onto it.
This is how me and my family always makes milkshakes! I heard that's not "really" a milkshake.. so what is the proper way to make one then?
-
Moussaka, and my mom's cabbage and minced meat casserole. I "always" ask my mom to make some casserole when I go home. :lovey: She showed me once how it's made but I haven't dared to try it myself yet.

well the real way would be ice cream and milk in a blender until its all smooth, my grandpa just puts icecream in a cup and pours milk on it and its not stirred up at all.

Well, since discovering I am gluten sensitive, a lot of my childhood foods are no longer something I can really eat.
However, I still love spaghetti and I have found a gluten-free pasta that works for me. :)
