My eyes are brown, as are the eyes of my dad, brother and three children. My husband has blue eyes and mom has bluey-green eyes, I think.
Mr. Stomper didn't have much chance of passing his eye color on to our kids, as brown likes to kick bum! Although I read that the odds are 1 in 4 would have had his color, so if we had had another child....
-
Mine seem to change color from blue to grey.
-
I have one brown eye and one green eye... What to vote?
-
boring old brown here
-
Green here. Only one in my immediate family. I was told one of my grandmothers has green eyes but I don't remember which.
-
brown
-
My eyes change color between green/grey and blue/grey.
hahaha xD
-
Green for me, I take after my mum :)
-
Picked gray but really they're grey-green. Plus they have a goldish orange "sunburst" around the pupil. Take after my grandfather :)
-
Hazel but they look brown most of the time unless I'm wearing green or have been crying.
-
Glasz! Sort of like this, but more greenish around the brown part (which is also wider) and with small spots of grey in the green xD The edge of the iris is a bit darker, too :) I really suck at explaining things xD visitors can't see pics , please register or login
-
mine are blue/grey depending on the light, but since i'm mostly staying away from the sun, I voted grey.
I am actually a weird exception in my family, my parents both have very dark brown eyes as does most of my family, apart from my mother's brother and my father's father. My hair colour and straightness also sticks out like a sore thumb so for a long time I thought I was adopted - turns out i'm not so it was either a mutation or a very very tiny chance ^^
-
Im hazel-eyed (dominant color is green) :)
Im almost the only one in my family with this eye color though. My parents and maternal grandparents as well as my paternal grandfather, my aunt and my uncles... all of them have (had) bright blue eyes, only my paternal grandmother had hazel eyes (her dominant color was gold/brown though). My daughter is also blue eyed like my husband.
-
I have blue, and my husband has hazel. All our kids inherited his eye color - although they didn't change until they were close to two years old. But our youngest is a month shy of two, and her eyes are still blue, so I'm hopeful!
-
Brown here, though sometimes they shift between dark brown and light brown xD
Dad has brown eyes, mum has hazel. My brother has blue - but he got those from my mum's dad who also has blue. Both my paternal grandparents have brown eyes, and maternal grandmother had hazel eyes.
Brown kicks rump :P
-
I guess mine are blue-green-gray-ish?

I have a blue eye, and a blue and brown (more like orange) eye- I like my weird eye! Even though it is just a splat of misplaced melanin...
-
Mine are blue, but my right eye actually has sectoral heterochromia, meaning it has a brown spot in it at the bottom.
Kind of like this (not my eye):

I have green eyes. My dad and brother have brown and my mom has blue.

I have green eyes. My dad and brother have brown and my mom has blue.
-
Brown here, heterozygous. Dad has brown, too (darker than mine, I think?), while Mum and my little sister have grey eyes, maybe with a blue/green tint, I can't tell.
/ Wow, I can't believe how many commas I'm able to cram in a single sentence. x)
-
hazel :D

(yes, my actual eye)
-
Hazel that changes between a golden brown hazel and an olive green hazel.
-
My eyes are brown with green in the middle, darkblue outlines and grey in outer parts.... As I turn into different moods my eyes shift colors....
Kinda like this but with the green in the middle...

-
Mine change, but last night they were very bright green so that's what I picked. sometimes they are more grey or blue.
-
I was born with blue, but they became more Hazel as I got older. I love them. They change shade slightly depending on what I am wearing.
-
Hazel :)
-
Green.

Mood ring eyes! Gotta love 'em. ^.^
Mostly mine are hazel (so sayeth the vital stats) but they're really kind of greyish at the outside, jade in the middle, and a spikey golden ring round the pupil. When I cry, they go completely jade. When I'm quite cross, they're almost black-brown. And when I'm tired, they go more golden than aught else. Oh well. Livens things up.
My son, however, has beautiful stormy-sky blue eyes. They were cornflower when he was born, and now they're sort of between grey and denim blue.
-
Green here :) My dad has brown, my mom has hazel, and my sisters both have blue :)
-
Green, but I have brown spots.
-
mine are hazel :)
love pkw xxx

Hubby has brown eyes.
Kiwi, that same thing is going on with Mr. Stomper. I didn't know there was a fancy name for that phenomenon.

I have that too! Only it covers the top half of my eye- that name sure does sound fancier than misplaced melanin!
-
I have blue eyes. My mom has blue eyes too and my dad has brown, so obviously my dad is heterozygous.
-
Boring ol' brown for me. I'm half Native American so they are dark brown.

Blue- all my immediate family have blue eyes too.
-
Dark dark blue, almost black sometimes.
-
Mine kinds of change depending on what I'm wearing. They were definitely blue for most of my life, and it's what I tell people I have. They're very blue if I wear blue, but they can appear grey or green depending on what I have on.
-
mine are grey and my husbands are hazel our first son has bright blue eyes and our second has brown
-
Brown, but theyve been called Hazel before.
Little known fact: My eyes were actually purple when I was a toddler! I wish that they stayed purple
-
Mine are blue/grey mix lol
My eyes are my favourite feature ^.^
I like dressing them up with my different glitter colour eye liners or just my plain black liquid liner :)
They change how the colour looks like depending on the colour of my liner :P
-
I chose blue from the list but I have weird eyes that aren't obviously one colour.
Like xeevee - They look different depending on the colour that I wear, ranging from grey to blue to green to aqua and everything inbetween.
It's a family trait that I share with two of my cousins and I believe we got it from our grandfather.
Interesting what you say about your kids....my H has lovely brown eyes.
I have two girls - my eldest has gorgeous big brown eyes that everyone comments on and my youngest still has very blue eyes at 7 months old so I'm kind of hoping they won't change now!! It'll be funny if they don't because the two of them look very alike and it would be lovely for them to have different eye colours I think.
-
I'm really not sure. At first glance they're brown. But closer in they're Amber. But my eyes have been bright green and I've even noticed a ring of grey-blue around the pupil once.
-
i have boring blue eyes. XD i adore brown eyes or hazel. my boyfriend has a mix between brown and hazel, veery cool.
my sister has brown, near black eyes like my mom. ^^
more people should take pictures of thier iris and post here, it´s pretty!
-
I'm really not sure. At first glance they're brown. But closer in they're Amber. But my eyes have been bright green and I've even noticed a ring of grey-blue around the pupil once.
that sounds like hazel to me :D
-
One green and one blue. :)
-
I'll go with blue, but they're really more of a blue-green. When I was younger they shifted from blue to gray to green, and I used to jokingly say that they changed depending on my mood. But it seems like they've decided to stick with this blue-green, and I'm happy with that. :)
-
Hazel ^.^
They look best when paired with earth tones. It really makes the gold flecks pop. My mom and sister are blonde with green eyes, my dad has brown hair and eyes.
I'm also a natural redhead, pale skinned and freckled. One of my grandmothers had hazel eyes, the other had red hair but I think her eyes were green. Oddly, my Irish grandfather had dark hair and eyes
-
Mine are grey, with a little tinge of green and gold.
-
Vibrant hazel-ish but leaning more toward golden ochre as I get older. They look a lot like the vampire characters' eyes in the first Twilight movie XD I get a lot of compliments on my eye color from random strangers and it's kind of the only thing I really love as far as my features go. I recently realized that no one in my whole extended family has the same eye color as I do
Do any of you have small black spots (besides your pupil) in your iris? I have 2 and I've always wondered why...
Galactica, if you find me staring weirdly at you at the Pony Meet, it's to look at your eyes XD
-
Mine are blue-gray and my family is split down the middle (3 are blue and 3 are green/hazel.). :)
-
Mine would be Hazel, they're browner nearer the pupil and greener the further away it gets.
-
I think this thread probably shows a lot of people that their color changing eyes aren't that weird ;) Almost any eye color will "change" or look different depending on what you wear or the color of your makeup - heck they package certain makeup colors just for that reason.
I have green eyes. I just remembered this stupid eye collage I did for a reference for someone XD

Salli - my brother and I both have what I've always though of as "eye freckles," spots of dark brown in the iris.
-
Two different! (sometimes three!)

Mine are pretty blue. Both my kids got them too. My littelest has the most amazing eyes.
Both old pics, but you get the idea. His eyes just get prettier as he gets older too. So jealous!

mine are light grey with dark grey around them xD my dad always called them silver, we both have the same eyes haha
-
Dark blue, usually. But they can look grey sometimes, even greenish. Just depends on what I'm wearing and how I'm feeling.

Ava was only 11 weeks old and about 2.5 pounds in that picture.

red as blood but that cahnge colors with my mood
-
I have hazel and depending on lighting I have had them look brown, green, and a very very deep blue.
-
my eyes change from green to blue depending on what im wearing

Too true (though I have yet to find any make-up packaged for grey eyes- I feel neglected).
Mine are kind of a dirty-dishwater greenish-grey when I'm naked (whee!), but clothes affect that. They're more of a true grey if I wear black or blue, and more of the green comes out if I wear what? Green! I'd be surprised if anyone with light-coloured eyes didn't find them affected by things like make-up or clothes. The irises reflect light, and therefore colour, right?
So yeah, nothing fancy here, but I like them. :)
-

Yeah, they probably are hazel,
thought looking in the mirror recently and looking it up, I think I'm Amber. Or at least hazel leaning towards amber!
-
I have hazel eyes that are primarily green, but in certain lights, they can look either extremely dark green, brown, or even gold.
They look really cool against my very pale skin and very dark hair. xD

Eheheh, sorry for the creepy picture. I was testing the macro setting on my camera.
-
everyone in my family has blue eyes.
mine are normally blueish gray. unless i wear orange. then they are a punch you in the face blue!!
few little amber and brown specks in the center. so i like to think of my eyes as silver and gold.
or at least steel and bronze. XD

Dark green with a ring of dark amber around the pupils :3c
-
I have blue eyes. Though at some angles they take on a green tinge.
I think blue eyes are always overrated. Lots of media speaks as desirable people having blue eyes. I for one would much rather have brown. I think brown eyes are just gorgeous. Even better would be hazel or even gray.
-
Depending on light, what I'm wearing and some other factors I really don't know, my eyes will either appear to be a piercing(apparently. I sdon't see it though. It gets really annoying when people insist on looking) sky blue or a silver-ish husky grey-blue. A little bit like what Princess Starburst posted.
-
Mine are green. When I was little they were a blue/green color. When I cry or put eye drops in my eyes they turn a brighter bolder green. I do have a amber color around the center.
My dad has really dark brown eyes, my brother's brown eyes are dark brown but not as dark brown as my dad's. My mom has hazel eyes (I am told that my maternal grandfather had bright blue eyes).

Such a rich variety of eye colors, hm? :) I find the whole thing fascinating, especially when I try to fathom how complex and sophisticated these little organs are.

I have green/blue/brown colored eyes.
I only have a old photo tough. :P

Dark brown, almost black looking.
-
Brown eyes here :D
-
i'm surprised at how many people have green and hazel eyes.
always thought gray eyes were one of the most common.
and wow. yall have some gorgeous eyes.
and fairy. you're eye look like nebulas so cool!
-
Green from my fathers side :)
-
Blue/green.
to describe them I seem to have green near the pupil, blue toward the edge and a ring around my iris that's sort o turquoise. I should try and get a decent picture.
-
I have Hazel like my Dad and brother but my sis and Mum have blue.
-
Boring brown here
-
I voted two different colours because one is really light brown, almost like amber while other is very dark brown, almost black. I was born like this, but I'm not sure is that heterochromia since colours are not entirely different
-
Dark green. No brown or yellow tarnishing in them.
-
My eyes are blue, I'm a true blond. :D
-
I have central heterochromia, very dark gray eyes with a wide golden brown ring around the pupil. On an almost related note, my paternal grandfather had such creepy pale blue eyes that his irises hardly show in photos.
-
Boring brown? √
Always bloodshot? √

I was confused why there was a little eye in my eye. Must be reflecting from something. Monitor maybe? Hm.
-
I had blue eyes as a baby and through childhood, grey eyes in my teenage years and now they are aquamarine like my paternal Aunt's. :)
-
Mine are grey/green with a bit of yellow.... voted for gray
-
Mine are plain ol' green. But when I was younger they had a nice ring of gold.
-
Hazel here, what I liked to call color-shift or chameleon eyes. They change color depending on what I wear and what mood I'm in. Brown if I'm sleepy or just woke up. Blue when I'm relaxed or down. Green if I'm excited.
Once, someone dared drag me in front of a mirror when I was furious, and I saw my eyes were actually yellow.
Not green-yellow, or gray-yellow.... but YELLOW.
...I was so creeped out I promptly forgot whatever I was angry about. And even as I relaxed, I saw normal color start creeping back in.
When I got my first driver's license, I was excited... so my eyes were green. I had to argue with the DMV lady to put down hazel. I think she thought I was nuts XD
Hazel eyes are fun ^.^
-
I have one brown eye and one green eye... What to vote?
Please. Please show me your eyes. LOL omg I love different colored eyes. I've always wanted a blue eye and a brown eye. Idk why.
I have blue eyes.
-
One brown & one grey/blue with a little bit of brown... I'm just odd

I have blue eyes, my kids have dark brown and hazel eyes.
-
We sat around once staring at each others eyes and decided mine are "Sea water- tigers eye." They're considered hazel, I guess, but are blue/ green streaked with gold.
-
My eyes are green with a blue ring around them. I wish they were either pure blue or gray.
-
I have blue eyes
-
brown, though they were blue when I was a baby
-
My eyes change color between green/grey and blue/grey.
hahaha xD
Same for me.
-
this is such a fun poll!
i'm amazed at how many have green eyes though. just can't believe it.
never met someone with true green eyes. (like i've seen in these pictures.)
-
Blue :D
-
Mine are blue , but they have flecks of other colors too. Now I need to have a look in the mirror to check  mom has grey eyes, dad has greenish blue (or blueish green !!) and my hubby has brown.
-
My eyes are brown. ^.^
-
My eyes started out blue, turned grey, then green. Now they're sort of a blueish green, with a darker ring around the outside of the iris. My son has hazel eyes, I have no idea where that color came from. :lookround:
-
Eyes change color depending on what iris muscles are pulled or relaxed. That is why you will see different colors depending on your mood and the lighting. The background colors around you also affect how you perceive them.
It's crazy how eye color can change over time. My sister started out with vivid blue eyes as a kid. When she was in her teens they were gray, and now as an adult they are hazel but on the more blue-green size of hazel with brown just around the center. I wish I had her eye color!
Too true (though I have yet to find any make-up packaged for grey eyes- I feel neglected).
Gray eyes get lumped in with blue in the makeup world I think. I compartmentalism them with the blue family too.
i'm amazed at how many have green eyes though. just can't believe it.
never met someone with true green eyes. (like i've seen in these pictures.)
I think most green eyes are hazel where the green is just more prominent than the brown. Most green eyes seem to have brown rings or tints to them.
I am a lumper so all the grays go with the blue family. Greens get split into hazel if there is a lot of brown, or blue if they are more blue-green. Amber and what some people call "black" eyes are in the brown family. Anything with distinct sections of color are kaleidoscope eyes. :)
-

weird! is that why everything is warm tone in one eye and cool tone in the other?
but normal when i look with both.

I think that is something else, unless you have different sized pupils letting different amounts of light in. My aunt has eyes like that and has no idea why, but I don't know if she sees things different in each eye. I don't seem to see warm or cool tones depending on which eye I am using.
-
My eyes are hazel, they seem to slightly change color all the time.
-
Mine are brown. :)

XD my eye doctor (also friend from high school) said i was imagining it. but yeah. me too. nice to know i'm not alone.
-
I picked grey but I suppose I could have just as easily gone for "other" since they're actually grey on the outer edges and brown around the pupils.
-
I have dark brown eyes, like mom. My sister and brother have blue eyes, like our dad. In most lighting conditions my eye color is reminiscent of a deer or horse (that really dark, deep brown), in others they look black, and in a few lighting conditions they look dark amber.
-
Hazel here. Hubby has beautiful green eyes, daughter got my mother's blue ones with a splotch of green to one. :)
-
Mine are true blue theres no other colour in them and depending on the time of year and how i feel they go from dark blue to very bright blue :-)
-
Wow so many light eye colored pony people! :-)
-
I have the weirdest color of eyes.. I swear to high heaven they are silver.
this strange metalic silver color.
my half sister has gold.. which is weird as well cus mom had brown and dad has blue..
but my dad's mom had silver like mine so that must be where i get it from.

Flutterwry, your eyes are absolutely gorgeous! :lovey:
The Rachel-Eyes are blue. :) Perhaps more of a grayish blue though. My dad has blue eyes and my mom has brown, but her mother has blue eyes too. My brother's are brown, and our maternal grandfather's were brown also.
My dad was adopted so I don't know much about his genetics, but I definitely got my eyes from him. His aren't quite as gray as mine though.
Maybe a pic later when I feel like it, but I'm ill right now and for some reason one eye socket is swollen. :(
-

WHAT?
me too! i told my mom and she thought i was influenced by the flue i had that day. thank you for mentioning that! i´m not alone. ;) my left eye sees more blueish, which one is yours?
-
I have blue eyes, hubby has light brown, our girls have blue x2, green x1 and brown x1!
-
weird! is that why everything is warm tone in one eye and cool tone in the other?

I have heard of that before- it is normal. Just depends on how many rods (see black and white) vs. cones (see color) are in each eye (medical background, hehe)
-
blue!
-
Green.
but more or less a hazel-ish green though. ^.^
-
Brown, dark brown.

0.0! why didn't my doctor know that?
-
Mine change from hazel to blueish green, but I have a brown spot in my color on one eye that never changes. My husband and daughter has brown Eyes and I think they are the most lovely eyes ever, I could fall into that color. Its so deep brown its almost endless. :lookround:
-

That's cool. My eyes are the same way (left eye warm, right eye cool). What's the relation between rod-to-cone ratio and warm or cool color perception?
-
Mine are Hazel :)
