I have a taste for weird things. They just catch my eye. While I was tidying up I was looking at my stuff and was like this could make a good subject to post. We can share our things.
Here is a weird owl I found a thrift store a few years ago. I collect owls and he spoke to me. I think someone actually painted him.

I am not a big fan of TY's Beanie Pals but these caterpillars were cute. The big one I got local but the little guy has a story to him. He has a surprise from a co-worker. We both work for an airline and we decided that we were going to try to hop onto as many planes as we could in two days. While waiting in Memphis I saw this guy in one of the stores in the airport and thought he cute and let it go. My friend noticed and later pretended to go the restroom and came back with him. So, the little guy became a reminder of that crazy trip. By the way we went, Helena-Salt Lake City- San Fransisco- LA (slept on the floor)-Detroit -Memphis - Minneapolis -Helena.

My preserved shark. Some people think he is gross but, he is right up my alley in weirdness. He came from the Jersey Shore. I like to think he died upon seeing the show.

I guess wierd is in the eye of the holder. Some people would say that collecting plastic ponies are wierd ;)

That owl is pretty sweet, although I wouldn't really call it weird. It has more of a 1800's feel to it. That *shark though, whats the story behind that guy? I used to have a baby chick that I took out of science class way back in the day in high school. He was one of the formaldehyde buddies sitting on the shelves and I thought he was just so cute, I had to take him home with me. Never knew what happened to him.. Think my mom freaked out and threw him away. Poor guy. Never had a chance at life, flying or a proper burial at that.

I love weird stuff! Your preserved shark is fascinating. The owl is real cute and makes me think of Bubo in the 1981 film "Clash of the Titans".
Once at a flea market I bought a taxidermy piranha for $15 at a booth where it stuck out like a sore thumb because everything else for sale at the booth was minerals, rocks, and gem stones. I've alway thought piranhas were cool and I simply could not leave him there after I spotted him. :biggrin:
I own the most weird unicorn toy I've ever seen. He's a three inch mish-mash of different creatures. I bought him twelve years ago at a yard sale. His face's expression perfectly matches the troll face drawing that's been circulating the Internet for ages. He has elephant feet, a face more dinosaur-like than horse-like, and a head of hair he must have scalped from a Russ troll.
I'll post pics of those two soon and figure out what else to post. :D

ooh cool! I don't think I have anything really weird or strange to show off...I do have a small collection of antique marbles and sea glass though! Um...other than that I am a nail polish hoarder. >.>

this is mr. c-j mann - short for creepy jam man. he always lives in my kitchen. i do not keep jam in him. my mother, knowing me well, found him for me at a yardsale. i love him. he guards the liquor.

1920's antique mail cabinet, full of all kinds of weird and wonderful things. from little toys to random bones and lots and lots of vintage ceramic cats. also, up front is a pelican keel bone.

monsieur boudreaux, my deer mount. i don't hunt. i don't agree with hunting. i simply love taxidermy. i found him in a bucket in a flea market outside of baton rouge, he had to come home with me!

Is it weird that I'd love some taxidermy ratties since I can't have real rats in my apt? Unfortunately the only ones I've seen online look really horrible, disheveled and lumpy. The people who made them don't know what a plump silky domestic rat looks like. They must think rat and automatically think it looks fine if it looks like it came from a sewer.

Ohh. I have a thing for creepy bunnies. My favorite is a pair of creepy blowmold bunny banks from the 50/60s. I first saw the yellow one at a thrift store for 10 cents. I couldn't say no to that. And then within the same year, I found a pink one at the flea market for $1.00.
I think it's amusing because they have "bank" printed on their forehead...
Although, there is a point where too creepy = scary... and I don't like scary bunnies.

And this one that's a squirell but it's like round.
I have a book from the 1940's/1950's of veteinary case studies, and a book from the 60's/70's about 'recent medical advances'

The rabbit puppet's face is nearly as disturbing as the faces of those Easter Bunny costumes some people wear at malls for people's kids to have photos taken with. It looks like it's a vintage toy.

I've seen some yesterday on Etsy. They chopped off a G1 unicorn's head painted it white and mounted it. :shocked: I am not sure if I like it or not. Maybe if it was G3 it wouldn't bug me.

I have one of those except mine is a monkey. He's out in the garage with my pull string Pee Wee and some other critters I don't have room for at the moment. Now I'm curious about other animals in the line :wonder: As a kid I never played with him much, despite loving puppets.

If it were a monkey I'd have throw it away from me instead of buying it. Monkeys = creepy. Crazy bunnies = absolute greatness. I'll have to look at what his tag says his company is because I don't remember.

Around Christmastime last year, my school volunteered to help out at a local goodwill type place to set up their Christmas things. I could not stop laughing- among all the random holiday decorations, I found a creepy crab shell ornament with a fat snowman baby glued inside and a nice nativity scene snowglobe with baby Jesus floating on the surface of the water. If only I had pictures! :haha:

Sometimes (really, really, really really rarely) when I went to the beach when I was younger, I used to find these beautiful things that looked like patterned eggs of some sort. I had no idea what they were, but I heard someone call them sand dollars. I did a Google search to try and get a picture to show you all, only to find out that in actual fact sand dollars looked a little more like this:

Huh. After about ten more minutes of wandering about the Internet, I found out that what I actually had looked like something called a Meoma Ventricosa, which is a kind of sea urchin. Fascinating stuff!

The "sand dollars" I used to find were incredibly delicate, and I only ever found about three of them. I wish I had one now.

I found my weird hyena/cheetah thing and sorted my camera out so I'll get some pics of him soon.
I've also got this kind of weird looking but rather adorable all the same vintage fox plushie, he had really floppy ears for some reason.

I love sand dollars and they have skeleton bones inside that are really cool to look at. They sell them here a dime a dozen if you'd like me to pick one or 2 up for you MoonSugar.

i always wanted a sand dollar i went to a beach in Georgia when i was younger where there was live ones in the water they were so cool but it was illegal to take any and i wouldn't want to kill them anyways.
