Hi Everyone.
A person I know found a NSS Truly in Peru of all places. Something looked odd about her so I bought her from him. I also was wondering what a NSS truly was doing all the way out in Peru.
She has the following unusual features and I am wondering if any other NSS trulys out there are like this.
1. Very long eyeliner
2. one row of 18 plugs for a very large forelock.
3. 4 stamped feet. The back two have holes in them but the stamped markings are still visible on the edges of the holes.
4. Very intricate symbol (thinner stem for the heart rose)
5. brittle texture to hair

Oooo exciting! Can't wait to see pics : )
-
ohh I can't wait to see this pony.
-
maybe a prototype? I dunno
-
Wow. I like that look. and in Peru?!?!? Weird.
eta just wondering if you have another NSS Truly or even a HK one to compare her to size-wise, side by side. What sort of plastic is the body? :lookround:
-
I don't have any other NSS truly sadly.. I have tried to compare the symbols to some of the photos I have found on the internet..
here is one. You can see the other symbols are almost clunkier and the stem on this one is not as precisely defined. The stem on mine looks longer too. Also in their photo the double row in the mane
starts up much much much closer to the forlock. My Truly the double row in mane starts behind the ears.

She is a little squishier than normal hong kong ponies.. Her hair is brittle and course. She is much taller than my brazilian milkyway if that helps. I can take photos of them side by side?

I don't have any Brazilians but that would make a smashing pic :)
And her hair is straight...you're right about her just looking 'different'....where is everyone else!?? People that k
now more than me should be here!
-
You see what I mean about the intricate symbol? I hope someone else has pics of their NSS truly so we can compare..
-
honestly, to me she looks like a US truly I deflocked not long ago = so now I'm kicking myself for not taking pics before sending her off in a swap...
The long forlock was on the US version as well :-/
I'm presuming there's no flocking residue and the brittle part of the hair dunno = hoping more pics come up to compare
gotta love how MLP travel - cool find wherever she is from
-
hmm interesting.. No there is no flocking residue and her head looks factory sealed.. I wish you kept her too.
Heres a pic I found of a flocked version.. Looks like this one has a thin forlock,,

Anyone have a deflocked version for comparison?
-
good point on the factory seal to the head = she's a cool variant :-)
here's a pic of a deflock I found

see what I mean about the symbol similarity?
yah the one I did had a big forelock then again, dunno if the hair had been trimmed - didn't think about it at the time
-
Yeh I see what you mean.. I "Truly" (get it.. Truly.. haha) don't really know what to make of her.. I guess she could be deflocked for all I know
-
Deflocked could explain the odd hair texture, too, depending on what was used?
-
I can't help in regards to the paint/symbol/hair plugs, but her hair could have been flat-ironed at a temperature that was a tiny bit higher than necessary (but not enough to melt it). I know flat-ironing can cause the hair to be a little wavy, like in the 4th pic in the original post, and can change the texture of the hair if it's a bit too warm.
-
What colour is her eyeliner? Is it black?
-
Yes Eyeliner is black. How about the hooves. Are they normal? Do deflocked truly's have the visibility of made in and hong kong on the edges of the holes of their hooves?
-
no flocking residue inside the holes?
sorry it just *looks* like it in the pic
-
No mam.. That is the strange part.. there is absolutely no residue at all on the pony anywhere. There is just dirt in the holes.. I need to clean it out in there.. ick
-
maybe it was an error pony, never had any flocking :)
-
I have nothing useful to add apart from that I've now added NSS Truely to my wishlist. Damnit, got to get out of this forum!
-
I've just checked a partially deflocked Truly and a Magic Star as well and the hind hooves have no sign of the Hasbro markings :)
-
So are we thinking she is a flockless factory error?
Due to the markings and no flocking residue / sealed head?

That seems to be the most likely I think.
-
the hoof stamp is normal :) all HK made rearing ponies have part of the stamp showing :)
the brazilian ponies are tiny compaired to regular HK ponies ;)
the heartthrob pink hair does go brittle feeling over time when it gets dry, is exposed to too much heat or chemicals such as acetone.
here is my deflocked truly :)

Yeh there is just one thing.. All the deflocked ponies look so white and minty.. This one has marker
stains and is dirty and i think she even has some pin dot mold.. It doesnt look like she was deflocked.
Do you think she was deflocked back in the 80's or do you think she wasn't flocked to begin with.
Also she has traces of blush still on her cheeks.. Any of the deflocked ones have that?
-
i am afraid she does have pindot mold :( sorry ember1!
sadly cancer, pindot and ink stains can travel through flocking or form under flocking :(
you can also deflock with out damaging the blush, eyes and symbols if you are careful.
we need to see more pictures of a true NNS truly to compair her with :)

There is a deflocked one on ebay as we speak
and she looks to still have her blush, and I have to say, she's not very white either.
It's an active auction so you will have to search by title to see her. G1 Truly SS So Soft Not Vintage My little Pony Hasbro MLP 1985

I guess shes prolly deflocked.. Is it possible to deflock without removing a ponies head?
I know next to nothing about deflocking so this is all very interesting
-
Here's a pic of my deflocked one. She also has long eyeliner :)

Its very possible to take all the flocking off ponies and not destroy the blush, eyes and symbols.....depending on how much glue there is..some ponies I have deflocked are really easy and the flocking falls off and then some are horrible and take forever....it seems to me that the symbol has some wear that looks like it could be from deflocking......and she looks like my deflocked one....thats what I noticed....my eyeliner goes really long also...hope this helps=)
-
My deflock rearing ponies , they have no stamping on their hind hooves unlike this one. So....
-
I'd say a very good deflock, or possibly a meant to be SS without flocking.
My deflocks have long eyeliner, 17 and 19 plug forelocks and 4 stamped feet.

yes it is possible to deflock with out removing the head :) it all depends on which product you are going to use to do the deflocking.
