What generations does everypony collect?
I collect G1, G2, G3 and G4, so all except for those wretched big heads who I try to forget existed. Infact the other day I cut the head off a Starsong I've had and nailed it to my ponyshelf saying "Big Heads ye be warned". Eventually I customized it into my spider pony's former mate's head. She's half black widow, afterall.
I've noticed that G2 seems to get the least love, followed by G3.5, followed by G3, and then G1 and G4 people adore, but that's jus my opinion on things. I actually really like G2s! But they're hard to find for me, I only have an Ivy keychain that I cut the ring off so she's just a pony, and an old McDonald's SunSparkle. The fact that most of them were UK releases makes them expensive and hard to get your hooves on.
What generations do you collect? All? Just one? Just a few and others not at all?

I absolutely adore G2's! They're my second fave gen! I collect G1, G2 and G4. I'm very specific about what I collect with G4 (new characters whose color schemes I like, Rarity and Cadance), but the others are fair game. :lol:

G1, 2 and 3. The only G4 we have are the fun blind bags, Zecora and a lovely custom Minty.

:cry: that sad about G3.5, how disturbing, i love them all, it took me years to like g2 and now i love them, i took me years to like g3 now i have 2 dozen of them. i love new born cuties too but my big fave are vintage then the new-bees ^.^

I collect G1 , G3 and G4. I really don't like G2s but I like their color schemes thats about it. I don't really like G 3.5s but I do have 1 G2 and 1 G 3.5 in my herd. Im ok with that. :)

i mostly collect G3 and Ponyvilles.

I collect all, but my main focus is G1, G3 and G4. I do like G2s quite a bit, but I really don't see them when I'm out pony hunting. All the years I have been a collector I've only found one. I don't purchase online very often, and when I do I focus on G1s. So while I do like G2s, I don't have as many in my collection as I should!

I collect G1 and G4s but I also have some G3s and G2s. They're all too cute to resist.

I never would have thought in my craziest dreams that I'd ever be collecting ponies full stop up until October 2011! And even only recently is it that I've found myself with an increasing interest in anything other than G4. I only collect G4 at the moment, but that's not to say I wouldn't love some of the older relevant G1 ponies like Firefly and Twilight, given the chance. The only thing I simply cannot stand are those dreadful G3.5s! But who knows, I might end up liking them too, eventually. Maybe. Probably not.

I have a lot of G1, most from many years ago. I suppose I can say I still collect them, since I've bought some recently. I have a few G2 that I bought new when I was a kid, I'm not fond of them though. I purchased a few G3 recently. I have not gotten into G4 at all...

I'm mostly a G1 and G4 kind of guy. I actively seek G1 ponies online all the time. Occasionally I buy a G4 if she's at the right price, and I'll usually pick one up if there's a new one at the store.
I have a handful of G3s, but don't really actively seek them out. A lot of the designs and colours just don't appeal to me.
I like G2s, but the ones I'm most interested in seem to only pop up with a high price tag on them, so I haven't bought a single one yet.
I'm not a big fan of G3.5, but there are a few that I've seen that I think are cute and I wouldn't mind having. I own a single 3.5 Pinkie Pie with a mohawk that I picked up at a thrift store. She's... odd, but sort of charming.

I collect mostly G1, G3 and G4. I would like to collect G2s, but I only like the babies and since those are harder for me to find and a bit more expensive when I do find them I have yet to actually add any to my collection since there's only a few that really jump at me to desperately want. For the G3.5's, I have a couple but I don't actively collect them, BUT I would love to get my hands on a few more of those tiny Ponyville ponies (about the size of G4 Blind Bag ponies). I think those are just the cutest things and would certainly not mind having more <3

Love G1s, G2s I personally really love and have even found a couple at thrift stores with both eye gems in place and one in a box :biggrin:
G3s I think are really pretty too and have found more of this gen than any other.
G3.5s I try to avoid purchasing but I adore the moms.
G4 is too cute! I like how small they are but the line isn't as exciting as it was. I need to save up money for customs that I've been drooling over in the forum!

I started collecting only g1 and when the g3 came out i found myself buying them all the time and I like a lot of the g4 but only have around fifteen. I even have around five of the g3.5 My main love is g1 and these are the ones that I will buy online etc. If I see a g3 that i like at athrift store I will buy it but I don't think I would buy g3 or g4 online.

I collect all but G3.5 :) Well, I only have one G2 at the moment, but I do want some more :biggrin:

I'm a g4 collector but I do have 2 g3's and 1 g1. I do love g1 ponies but I'm fighting the urge to collect them :lol:

I mainly collect g1 and g3. The majority of my collection is g1 and those are what I get most excited about but I have a decent g3 collection. :)
I collect g4s as well but if the g4 line stopped tomorrow, I wouldn't be heartbroken.
I have 1 g2 ( Princess Twinkle Star) but they're starting to grow on me. Would love to own all of the winged ones; I think they're lovely. :)
I do not collect g3.5.

G1's only - had to draw the looking G2's and while G3's are great I could never get over the fact the symbol was only on one side and G4's look like deer to me. So I will stay dedicated to my G1's forever!

Currently G1, G2 and G3.
I actually didn't like G2, then I found one at a fleamarket and took her home despite being a G2, and now I suddenly find them on my want list. I'm not sure how that happened. :blink:
I've tried going for G4, but I bought one Fluttershy, and now I just, can't get myself excited to get any more. I think they're cute but, I simply like the older generation toys better. There's also the fact that a single loose G4 still tends to go for 8 or so euros, over 10 dollars, over here. A price I find hard to justify for such a small toy, since I'm on a tight budget currently.
I'd much rather allow myself a visit to the charity shop on occasion, to pick up some older gen ponies for 1 or 2 euro a piece. My collection is still very small, so if they have ponies, there's usually one I don't have yet, and I don't at all mind having to give a new addition a bit of tlc.

I started my adult collection with G4 and had forgotten that I owned G1s until I was going through the wiki and saw Skydancer and Starshine and the nostalgia hit me like a truck. When I went looking for Starshine on ebay, I saw she had a plushie and I remembered that I had a Parasol and Firefly plushie as a kid.
But as for collecting I collect G1, G3, and G4. I'm almost done with my G4 brushable collection and only getting started on my G1 and G3 collection, though I've found that it's quite easy to get started, what with the arena and ebay and all that. ;)
It might take me a bit to get used to G2 and G3.5, though. G3.5 reminds me of frogs or something. Ducks, maybe? I dunno. I just can't really like it. >_<

I collect all four. I also always move on to the next gen when it gets released.

G1 and G4, though I mostly focus on Rarity and stallions (I also collect G2 for this since it had boy ponies). I dabbled in collecting G3 but I just don't have the space. I have kept a few of my favourites and will buy them if I really fancy them. That said, I do collect art/con ponies, which are mostly G3 style!

I only really collect G1 and G3. I only keep some G2s from my childhood and that I find pretty, otherwise they find their way in my trade/sale list.
I absolutely do not like G3.5 and G4, they are on the same level of ugliness and un-ponyness to me although I would probably keep the G4s if I found them at a thrift store, unlike G3.5 so I guess I do like them marginally more.

G1 and G4 here, at the moment more leaning towards G1.
I like diversity and vintage charm of G1, and due to bigger size they look better on the shelf. Also - childhood nostalgia.
As for G4, I see them mostly in context of FiM. I'm mainly interested in show characters, and those, that are somewhat "rare" i.e. EU/US exclusives. I think, the look of G4 is good, but as far as toys are concerned they somehow lack the "soul" and their quality is often poor. If it wasn't for the show, I would probably be disappointed with G4 ponies.

I will always be a G1 collector at heart, anytime I can pick up something G1 that takes priority. I also actively collect G3, G4 (only the ones I like) and though they are not my favorite I own most of the G3.5 line since I bought them when they were in stores. I recently have decided I like G2's and am starting to add those to my collection as well. I am a completist collector so I will be collecting for a loooooonnngggg time!

I'll take any ponies into my herd! I started with G4 and quickly started to love G1. Right now though I'm kinda in this pony lull where I haven't bought any in a while (save for my fiance surprising me with a darling Creamsicle for Christmas <3), but I wanna lean more towards getting more G1s, some G2s and a few G3s. I'm sorry G4s, I have my Mane Six already. Though I do want my pretty princesses...

I collect ALL, although G4s are a lot more interesting as customs. I buy a lot of replicates for customs, and while the Mane 6 idea is bad, I love that Hasbro keeps Rarity in constant supply because seriously, white unicorn bodies are SO GREAT for EVERYTHING!

I collect G2's mainly, they are beautiful and my favourite generation. I also have some G3's from thrift stores and some G4's, but G2's will always be my number one generation :lovey:

I am a G1 girl to be honest :) That is and always will be my core collection. However, I do also collect G4s - at least one of each character released. And G3s I have the ones I like but I dont actively seek them out.

At the start only G1 but then soon G3, G4 and meanwhile I find the G2 so cute too.... :biggrin:

G4 is my main one,ponies, playlets,tshirts,comics,posters,and some BB's.
G3: The Castles of is what induced the g3 ponies,the first g3's came with the Crystal Rainbow Castle that I bought to display my FS G4's,a pinkie pie came within the lot of 12 or 14 ponies, then I wanted to get the mane 6 G3 version,after that I went after the CMC g3 version and other characters from the FIM show,then I got the G3 Styling size ponies,and now just what catches my eye :) mostly white or bluish ponies .
I do find the G2 and G1's very nice :) I'm on the fence so far about going for them and start collecting them,I might jump to get a couple of each generation sooner or later :)
G3.5 I only have the 2 styling size and the rc rd plane :).

I started out as a Gen 4 collector since I loved the show so much. Started out as the Mane 6, then the CMC, then all of them!! Then I saw a load of Gen 1's on a car boot sale and had to buy them and it started. I also collect the Gen 3's, especially the ones with something different about them like leg gradients or the babies.
I don't like the look of Gen 2 and 3.5's. I dunno, the just slightly give me the creeps!

Basically a G1 collector. I have a small G3 collection which is mainly exclusives which I nor longer collect now they use the new style ponies and one lonely G2 lol

I tend to be a G1, G3 and G4 collector, mostly because it's more difficult to find G2's even though I like them and own a few.
G3.5 are one's I'm not interested in collected too much, though the mum ponies are interesting. My main problem with the G3.5 being the lack of variety of ponies, so since the mums are different I wouldn't mind having them.

I mainly collect G1s, as they are the ones I like the most. As most of my childhood ponies are G2s, I only wish to get my hands on a few that I've wanted since childhood - I can pass on the rest. As for G3s... well, they are a bit like the G1s, really, as I really like them as well. I am missing 1 pony to complete the G3.5s I want (unless I want to get the moms someday...). G4s... I think they are a bit too pricy for their size/quality, so I'm not really collecting them (although I won't deny I would love to get a few).
In the middle of all this, I only buy the ones I like on each gen and at the moment I have a limit on how much I spend on a pony. Ebay has been a great companion on this so far :)

I think it depends on exactly what you mean by "collect" for me.
In the sense of what I own, overall, I'm not picky. I'll get any pony I come across at a yard sale/flea market/thrift shop, regardless of generation. If I can afford it, it comes home with me. XD
That being said, the only ones I'd say I really "collect" are G3 and G4. To be honest, the older gens (and G3.5) look odd to me, and I'm more likely to find a pony that appeals to me in G3 or G4.

i will grab any gen i see or pony toy tht catches my fancy at the yard sale flea market thrift store. (if it isnt overly expensive) but pretty much i cant leave g1s and such behind. i ended up with quite a few fakies XD now i'm a bit more picky but if its a real mlp its coems home lol
but as for my actul collecting i colelct g1, primarily (trying to finish cetian collections) the g1 playsets g3. some g4 i love the tinsel!
i have sevreal g4s. the brushable and the fs. (becuaes they remind me of the older styles) but most of hte time i wont gt them unles si ahve a coupon or i find them in thrift sote/flea market/yard sale or i get them as gifts.
i have a couple g 3.5 and some newborn cuties.
i dont really collect g2 i do own.. i think 6 or 7 becuae i found them in a thrift store and couldnt leave them there.
i also have some ponyville and blind bags but i dont really colelct Blind bags or ponyville.
