Title: I need a new image-hosting site.
Post by: Tirac on February 07, 2013, 09:14:14 AM
So photobucket is forcing their update and I have come to the undeniable truth that I hate it too much to stay with the site. I need to find another image hosting site that is relatively as user-friendly as photobucket was, hopefully with an image editor as well.
So far the others I've seen aren't as great. I personally hate Flickr.
Imageshack looks like the best bet at this point but I just don't like the setup of the site.

I don't care for photobucket's new site as well.  Please let me know if you find something else that is more user-friendly.

I use Tinypic (http://tinypic.com/), have for years. I absolutely love it.

I wish I could use TinyPic, but I don't think it's available outside the USA.

I know some people use Flickr, but I don't know what they offer for editing. Maybe just try a google search for photo/editing hosts?

I want to use tinypic, but it only directs me to photobucket to make an account.

I use flickr and picasa and like them both- although Flickr is easier to use.   There is a basic editing program available in Flickr...

I don't suggest Imgur at all if you'll need to see your old uploads for any reason. You can only see your most recent 225 without paying to upgrade your account.

I guess Photobucket owns them now, which is lame. The site itself is still way better than Photobucket's main site.

Yeah, photobucket is gross now but Tinypic was awesome.

Yikes. Then I won't use Imgur then. I don't want that.

You don't have to stick with the new version if you don't want to.  I know sometimes I go on there and it's set up like the new one but there's an option to put it back to the old one if you want it that way.  That's what I do.

You're not going to be able to do that forever. I think its like 25~ days until the switch is permanent?

I haven't heard of anyone liking the new photobucket, so I don't know why they'd want to change it. It's torture enough that we have video ads for every upload now.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to stick with it though since I have literally thousands of pictures spread over four accounts and it would take me forever to move them all. -________-;

I'm actually beginning to hate the photobucket staff. It seems they don't actually listen to feedback or users about how the site should be. Simplicity would be best for an uploading site but they're making it more confusing than windows 8.

Photobucket has been bad for years, IMO, I jumped ship to Imageshack. Though Imageshack now has a 200-300 image limit for free accounts, nothing's stopping you from making another account on there with a different email or sth.

Minus used to be absolutely brilliant, they were all about simplicity for a while there and there was literally nothing there that didn't need to be. They've sort of changed direction now from an upload-everything site to an imagesharing site, which isn't too bad I guess, but I miss the old style. Still, they're pretty decent regardless, and I'd rather you went with minus than imageshack or something.

I've abandoned the "Photobucket" sinking ship a long time ago, and the best I could find is Imgr but the 225 image limit is bothersome!
Imageshack also irritates me just from going there and viewing pictures, so no thank you.

I just keep resetting my photobucket back, can't stand the new format.

I think I'm going to go with Imageshack.
I miss old photobucket and a image limit bothers me, same thing with not being able to keep track of uploads.

I wish someone could basically make an "old photobucket/tinypic styled" image hosting site because that'd be cool.

I've wanted that since Photobucket started changing and Tinypic got bought by them.
I'll never understand why the websites today have to be so tacky and look like a smartphone app. It should be about simplicity and effectiveness, not appearance.

I cannot stand what has happend with PB! Why do these sites always have to mess with a good thing until they ruin it completely!

I guess they saw how Facebook keeps screwing everything up and they didn't want to feel left out. >_<

I'm currently trying out imagebam as I've switched my PB account over to the new layout and can't change it back. So far, I like Imagebam.

Thank you for posting this.
Not only is the PB beta cumbersome, lost many features but it looks UGLY too. I'm frustrated I can no longer rearrange the order my photos appear in. Trying to put together a sale thread and adding image links took my at least 5 times as long as with the old site. I would have written a complaint, but I'm using their service for free.  I did have plans to upgrade my account before the change and yeah, not happening. I feel badly for people who've paid for this service and have to just take these unwanted changes.

I use Majhost (http://www.majhost.com/) now. It's free and I am satisfied for now with it.
