There was G1 Spike, G3 Spike, and G4 Spike. My favorite is G4 Spike. He seems more like a cute baby dragon, rather than G1 Spike who was also a baby dragon but not as cute. Just my opinion.

I really do not have a favorite at this point.

I've always liked G1 Spike's goofy voice haha.
I guess my favourite would be G4 Spike because I am most familiar with him and I feel like I "know" him best, but I think they're all adorable. I've always been very endeared by G3's simply Spike the Dragon.

hum...well I haven't seen g3 spike yet...I liked some of the G1 episodes with Spike but his voice was kinda annoying even though he was kinda cute, I do like G4 spike's voice a lot more and he is interesting

G1 Spike for me - the original is always the best!
He's the one I grew up with and, although I may be the only one here, I actually really liked his voice. While I love Cathy Weseluck as a voice actress, I cannot stop hearing G4 Spike as "a woman attempting to be a little boy"! :P
I liked G3 Spike too though. There was something very endearing about him.

Even though I'm one of those obnoxious people that almost always likes the first version of what I saw better (in this case, G1), I honestly LOVE G4's version of Spike. He's got the same little snippy attitude that suits him so well, but at the same time he truly is believable as a baby dragon and not the same age as the ponies, which makes him utterly endearing. Could not stand G3's version of Spike though.

I think I shall stick with the old standby. I love G1 spike. I don't think I liked G3 spike. G4 spike is kinda cute in his own way. :)

I'm with relcelestia, I honestly didn't even know there was a G3 Spike! Guess I'll be scouring the interwebs for this unbeknownst to me version.
Sans G3 Spike, I think G1 and G4 are equally beloved in my eyes. They each have their own unique traits that make them awesome.

I like G4 Spike the best. He's the best-rounded, and I like what they do with him. The writing for him really works- he's very clearly a young dragon, learning and growing and generally being adorable. I also really like how he's like a little brother to Twilight Sparkle (that bit in the Crystal Empire episode where his greatest fear is her abandoning him made me choke up) and how they've really made family out of each other.

When it comes to ponies, I think original is best. In the case of the shows, it's G4 for me. I really love how they did Spike in FiM. He is cute and funny.

G3 Spike was in the Movie with Wysteria.

In order of liking, G4, G1, G3. I like them all, but g1's voice really does bother me. What they did with him in G3 is interesting, completely different from the other Spikes, so I don't dislike him.
g3 spike was all grown up and really smart, and they found him under a pile of... something in the basement of the castle. I had lots of theories about timelines and history in Ponyland because of that episode (Princess Promenade, right?). He's in a couple more shows after that, but I'd have to actually go and look to see which ones. I know he isn't in A Very Minty Christmas!

In terms of character design, I love G1 Spike!
He was adorable in Rescue at Midnight Castle, I loved his brotherly relationship with Scorpan, though I wasn't as into him from the movie onwards, as he started getting kind of goofy looking.
I remember really wanting Dream Castle when I was a child so I could have Spike, but my mother got me Castle Grayskull instead....
In terms of characterisation, I like how G4 Spike is used in the FIM show, though I don't like his design with the fins on his face, I wish he looked more like G1 Spike.

I like G1 Spike the best. I love his gravelly voice, even though at times he sounds almost exactly like Buster Bunny (they are both voiced by Charlie Adler), which can be a bit jarring.

I think there's an appearance in The Runaway Rainbow? At least, there was a Spike the Dragon in the game- although unlike G1 and G4 Spike, G3 Spike is technically an adult dragon.

G3's were only movies and he was in most of them. He wasn't in A Very Minty Christmas. He was in Runaway Rainbow and I think he was in Princess Promenade. I'm not sure about the others

Yeah that pic doesn't look like him at all. G3 Spike is fricken adorable. I love when they give him a bath and he gets covered in bubbles! X3

Honestly, I like G1 Toy Spike the best, but I think I like G4 cartoon Spike the best.

G1 Spike. I think he's the cutest.
BUT HIS VOICE. GAAHHHHH. ;A; It's so nasally and annoying.

While G1 Spike will always be special to me, my absolute favorite is G4 Spike. I love his voice and personality. I also knew nothing of the existence of G3 Spike until this thread, so I reserve judgement on that one, LOL

G4 animation- because lets face it, G1 animators were smoking something, sometimes he'd be tall and skinny, other scenes he'd be short and chubby. I don't like the whole huge head on tiny body fad though.

Never saw G3 spike, but I'm not super impressed with the G3 animation in general.
I love G1 and normally they are the best- but I don't recall G1 Spike being a very well developed or designed character. Hardly even remember him.

I guess they just had a problem compromising with creating their own designs and staying faithful to the original toy. Also, it has to be remembered that "Rescue at Midnight Castle", "Escape from Katrina" and the remaining series plus movie, were being animated by different teams people (or so it looks like) and thus had different character models.
Still, this is kind of cringe worthy... :/
Anyway, my favorite Spikes are G1 and G4. I don't have any opinion on the G3 one, because I hadn't watched any of the episodes/films yet...

I agree that G1 Spike looks more like a dragon- G4 Spike looks a tad like a kitty (which may explain why I like him so much)

G1 Spike but he's only very slightly ahead of g4 Spike.
I think the fact that G1 Spije is voiced by the same actor who voiced Buster Bunny endeared me to him *more.* (I was a big Tiny Tunes fan back in the day.)

I am more about the toys than the show to be honest but I actually really like G1 Spike and Baby LSs in the original and I prefer his toy so its G1 all the way for me!

This should not exist. That whole show, but especially this XD
It's hard to say, I never watched the G3 movies so I don't know G3 Spike that well. I do like G1 Spike in the fact that he is more dragon like and more like a baby. He's always around the baby ponies and his voice is more baby-like. G4 Spike seems more like a pre-teen to me. But they're both so different I can't say I truly prefer one over the other!

I love the G1 Spike and the G4 Spike. Both are super cute :D I dont like G3 Spike though... hes a bit too... well, lets say not soo friendly.

I liked G1 Spike in MLP The Movie, but didn't care for him in the series. I like G4 Spike the best and I think it's adorable that he has a crush on Rarity ^.^
