Title: Show me your Barbies!
Post by: Rachel-Eyes on February 04, 2013, 10:50:50 PM
I've been thinking lately how badly I sort of want to collect Barbie. I definitely can't afford to right now, especially with the Fair coming up, but I do love looking at pictures of other people's dolls and collections. Only problem is that I've found that it's difficult to browse Barbie like usual without finding some NSFW stuff and I don't want that!  :yikes:

Can I please see your Barbies, Arena? Because I know that at least some of you lovelies are bound to have a nice Barbie collection!

(I have a few thrift store dolls and in storage are my childhood Barbies, including some hand-me-downs from my mom. She had the original Skipper and TNT dolls!  :freak:)

I'm not a collector or fan, but I do have one Barbie. I got her as a kid and I've still got quite the soft spot for her. But her hair is so dusty after years of unprotected display that its turned somewhat gray, haha.

And then I've got these two, who I opened so I could steal their clothes. xD
(If anyone wants them for what it costs to ship 'em please let me know! They'll come nude with like shoes and brushes, and the brunette has all of her jewelry still. They might have messed up their hair a bit but otherwise should be fine.)

I love Barbie soooooooooooo much! And I have a fair amount of them - you can see lots of photos here at Flickr  (http://www.flickr.com/photos/andi-b-goode/collections/72157627848640101/)but here are a few for the thread...

OK, I'll stop myself before I post ALL of my Barbie photos...

Oh and a great resource for vintage Barbie is Fashion Doll Guide (http://www.fashion-doll-guide.com/) - there is also a bit of info about Holiday dolls and the silkstone dolls on there too. For more recent-ish releases try barbiecollector.com (http://barbiecollector.com) Kattis Dolls (http://www.kattisdolls.net/index.html) has some good info about the different face sculpts, too. Sorry - I just get really excited about Barbie ;)

Eeeeeee!!!!! I am seriously loving all of these pictures! :freak:

Andi, it was actually stumbling upon The Fashion Doll Guide that got me really curious about Barbie collecting! I just love love love the '60s mod dolls and the really early facial sculpts they have had for them. It's so interesting to see her evolve with the culture and the times she lives in. I will have to check out Kattis Dolls too and maybe give my aunt a poke. She has a lovely MIB Barbie collection from I think the '70s to the '90s. :D

I also see that you have the Songbird Barbie. :heart: She was my childhood favorite! I love her!

:drool: I can't wait for more pics!  I have always loved Barbie, but I just cannot collect anything else.  That doesn't stop me from haunting Barbiecollector.com or the Toys R Us Barbie isles.

 Oh such goregous barbies you all have. I collected a small admount of barbies, mainly vintage or vintage reproductions, or collectors dolls having to do with certian historical eras, like the 20's and stuff. I even name them all, babie gets to be such a genral name. I don't have any pic's of my girls, and there not much because I collect alot of other things but I enjoy them.

 My favorite's probably Midge, follwed by Edith whos a cocca cola 50's fountain girl( got her because favorite era plus favorite soft drink equals buy, plus she flows with my 50's and 60's collection) Most recently, which is a while ago, I added a turn of the century girl who I named Velvet(odd name I know but I like odd names) So yah then there's Martha the bubble cut, Twist the TNT, Rita the american girl and quite a few others.

 I don't want to ramble on about my dolls I just love it when a barbie topic comes up. I am really looking forward to that 50th anniversary Midge giftset that's coming out. Oh and since the oppertunity presented it's self my favortie barbie doll era would be the whole decade of the sixties doll's, they have the sweetest outfits.

You can check the ones I have on my sig, on my toy collection website ! The pictures aren't mine. I did a research to find out the barbies I have and tried to keep as many MIB pictures as I could, so I can reassemble them all and take my own pictures someday (they aren't here with me). But you can take a look at the website anyway, just to have an idea of what I have :)

I don't have many Barbies, but these two were totally a grail:

My adoration for the Addams Family, particularly Gomez and Morticia, is intense. Theirs is the life I aspire to have. :heart:  They're staying MIB. I like that they're safe, totally visible, and have an awesome display with the mansion in the background.

And then I have my little troupe of Kelly Monsters!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I'm tentatively calling them Lucy, Elsa, Maria (or Daisy?), Melody (or Winifred?), and Lonnie. I just couldn't resist this group, they are so cute. I thought they might make good little companions for my Monster High dolls. But now I can't decide if I want to debox them!! I tested with Melody, and I'm still not sure if that was a good idea. :\

I totally loved Barbie when I was little, but somehow none of my childhood Barbies survived the usual "growing up" pains (sigh!) except a few MIB ones that are in storage at my Mom's house. They include Merlin and Morgana (still love them, glad they made it!), and like, a whole bunch of I Love Lucy Barbies. I seriously have at least 7 different dolls from that series. I still love the show (not as much as back then, haha), but I'm not sure what I'll end up doing with the dolls.

My new Barbie grail (since getting my beloved Addams) is the Munsters set, with Herman and Lily. Following them on the wishlist are the Barbie and Kelly takes on classic Catwoman, and Red Riding Hood Barbie. Someday!

Astronaut Barbie is a beaut, partypony! :lovey:

Just out of curiosity, how many astronaut Barbies have been made? I have a friend who is studying rocket science and dreams of working for NASA one day. She doesn't collect, but she really wants the space Barbies!

I have way more Barbies than I have room for. Right now most of them are in storage because i am trying to re-decorate which means I need some new cabinets for them (I'm thinking glasscabinet with light from Ikea)

but here they are (some of them);

Fairies and mermaids;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/linnzychan/7564343202/in/set-72157630563233484

Enchanted Element series; (fire was the doll that really sparked my interest in collecting)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/linnzychan/sets/72157630563216716/

More mermaids;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/linnzychan/sets/72157629989633890/

Teen skipper and friends and how to you a table guide ( I have more teens) I had a period where I only wanted to get Teen Skippers, i wanted all that was ever made, still misses a few.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/linnzychan/sets/72157627210323891/

And at last...not Barbies per say, but barbie-sized. my W.I.T.C.H dolls;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/linnzychan/sets/72157632704126284/

I have soooooo much more, such as kelly dolls too.

I don't really collect the same way anymore, mermaids and fairies sure, LOVE them. But what I really want is more OOAKs from my online doll-buddies :)
