Title: Windows 8?
Post by: RavenWolf on January 28, 2013, 11:13:52 AM
Anyone here have Windows 8? I'm thinking of getting a new laptop, but I'm having a hard time finding one with Windows 7 (Which is what I have now and just finally getting used to). I've heard nothing but bad reviews of Windows 8. So I'm curious if its as bad as the reviews say?  :huh:

What's your opinion of it?

I only just got a new laptop last night, and it's got windows 8. My opinion now is completely first.reaction since I've only really used it for an hour, but it's so different and I can tell it'll take me a long while to get used to it! I don't like it right now, but I still need to give it more of a chance.

I'm curious to hear too. I'm perfectly happy with 7, so I hope they didn't go down from there :S

I had to set up my mother's new laptop.

My opinion? I absolutely hate it. It takes two steps to go one step forward and it's like having two home screens to do two different things. Do NOT like.

My take on 8: Well, I like how the UI appears to use less resources compared to 7, but the Metro interface... It's just not suited for anything without a touch screen! Microsoft is crazy to force it onto users! :yikes:

That said, it is possible to downgrade back to 7 if you can secure a copy of Windows 7, however it will take all afternoon and maybe longer.

No, no, no!  Im sorry, but that system is not user friendly for anything that is not a pad or phone.  Im not sure what people were thinking when they decided to force it across all platforms...it just doesnt work.

You should beable to downgrade to 7 by phoning in <3

I bought a laptop with 8 on it after Christmas (wanted one with 7 but that's not available anymore *fume*), and it drives me crazy! It's not suited to non touchscreen devices, it's ridiculous.

Haha I got it for my birthday.  my husband found a little application called Pokki that gives me back my start menu and desktop.  the biggest issue i am having so far is the fact that Windows 8 and most video cards dont play well together.  >>;;
