Title: 2013 CA Pony Meet Thread *Door Prize Preview!*

Hello, every pony! I know many of you are looking forward to this year's meet. I ask that everyone please read the entire post, as there are important things that you will need to know. For those who may have missed it, our theme this year is based on everyone's favorite FiM diva, Rarity!

After looking at the poll results, I have decided to set the meet on Saturday, May 4, 2013. I do apologize to those who will not be able to attend due to scheduling. I promise we will not leave you out of the fun. :)

**Things to look forward to include:

- A special custom made by me for our door prize!

- A wonderful lunch prepared by my boyfriend, who's trained as a chef.

- An arts and crafts corner, including decorating McPonies, coloring and painting.

- Fun games and activities for chances to win awesome prizes!

- A chance to sit down with local collectors and make friends.

- And much, much more!

CUSTOM CONTEST

This year, we will have two categories for the member custom contest: Beginner and Advanced. Each will have a different theme. We will also have a kid's category. You have between now and the day of the meet to complete your custom. There will not be any work done once you arrive.

Member Beginners: Your theme is Fakie Make-Over! Get yourself a fakie and make it look pretty. You can make them into Hasbro releases or into an original design. Let your creativity flow! :) Only one custom per member can be entered. Cannot enter into both categories.

Member Advanced: Your theme is Glamorize! Using any generation combo, make a glamorized version of a Hasbro released pony. (i.e. Make a Masquerade out of a G3 bait and use gemstones and glitter to decorate, etc.) Only one custom per member can be entered. Cannot enter into both categories.

Kid's Customs: No theme! Let their imagination go wild!

Ribbons will be awarded up to 4th place and winners will get to pick a prize from my prize shelf.

Before we get to registration, here are a few things to keep in mind:

1) We are pet owners. We have two cats and will have a puppy by the time the meet is here. We are hoping to have the animals out of the way for the day, but there is no guarantee. We will clean as best we can too. If you have pet allergies, please be prepared.

2) Our house is kid friendly but not kid proof. If you would like to bring your kids with you, please remember to keep an eye on them. We love kids and don't want them running off and getting hurt or into something they shouldn't. I will provide some kid-friendly activities for them to help them feel included. And remember spouses, parents and SOs are all welcome too.

3) If you aren't 18 or over, please have parental permission to attend or your parent/guardian with you. I do not wish to be held responsible or blamed if you drive here without permission. I do not condone lying or sneaking away to come to the meet.

4) We will be serving lunch and beverages. If you are 21 and over, we will have wine or spirits available. Please have a driver or limit yourself if you intend to drink.

5) Please feel free to bring any ponies/merch/other toys you wish to sell. It's always fun to find a new addition for your collection.

6) Civility is a MUST! Last year's meet went off without any problems, but with an increasing tension between old collectors and FiM collectors in the pony community, I feel this must be addressed. We all love the My Little Pony line, regardless of what generation we prefer, and we should all be able to speak about what we love. I will not tolerate bashing other gens, snarky remarks or foul language. If any arguments or fights break out or if any of the previous listed is heard, the offending parties will be asked to leave the meet. Let's all show we can be accepting and open to everyone.

Now, on to registering! If you are planning to attend, you MUST fill out the form below and PM it to me. It will provide me with the vital information I will need to make sure this meet is enjoyable for everyone.

I hope you can make it. :) I'm sorry it's still way off. I like to give everyone lots of time to request the day off at work and to plan their trip. I'm already making a big, long list of things I need. And I'll be starting on our door prize soon. This custom is going to be a lot of work. lol

Giving this a bump and I have a question for y'all:

Along with ponies, would you like to see some non-pony prizes for the games and contests? For example: Pampering kits( nail polish, mud masks, etc), customizing supplies, houseware/decor items and things like that. Leave a comment and let me know what you think! :biggrin:

I've done one little Mcpony custom with cheap paint, homemade rehairing tool and floofy alpaca wool for hair. It was rough but fun and I'd love to get into some "proper" customizing.

She bought it for me as a birthday gift so I've been waiting to check it out until my b-day this weekend. Oh the suspense!

One of my favorite "party" games is Apples to Apples I'd go nuts for a pony version. That's really neat you are "ponyfying" a game rayechu!

I wouldn't have a problem with a plushie, but I don't know how the other members would feel about it. Is anyone opposed to a plushie in the custom contest? If no one disagrees with it, then by all means make a plushie. :)

So I think it depends on how the judge will be judging this contest.

You make a good point, NinaMarie. It would be difficult for a plushie to be judged along with customs. Maybe it would be a good idea to stick with just Hasbro based pony customs and save plushies for next year?

Not everyone from last year will be here but a few will and some new faces as well. =)

Also bumping up the thread. We're less than a month away from the meet. I'm working diligently on the door prize custom and making last minute orders for all the necessary party supplies. My livingroom is already looking like the ponies are taking over. lol Keep the RSVPs coming. You have until April 15th to do so.

I've never done any sort of customizing before so that seems more my speed since I'd love to try to give it a go, but I still want to be sure, am I required to paint or rehair the pony for it to count? Or is just, well, giving her a make-over such as doing her hair, dressing her up, etc. still acceptable?

The member beginner category is for Arena members of any age who haven't customized before or are fairly new to it. :) Rehairing is optional, but repainting is recommended. I want everyone to have an even shot at winning. I hope you'll be able to make it. You have until 11:59pm tomorrow to RSVP.

it's a thing started a while back, on the first Saturday in may. Many comic book stores are involved, the website is freecomicbookday.com Stores that participate can have free comics, signings, q and a sessions... And this year, with it being unofficially geek/nerd/Star Wars Day (May the Fourth be with you!). There's a lot going on, lol!

My parents went to Colorado this past week to visit family and pick up my sister and move her back to California. Turns out they'll be coming home today instead of next week and my sister said she'll come with me! I'm sooooo happy to have my baby sis home and willing to road trip with me the day after. I partially blame her for getting me back into collecting after she bought me a Butterscotch, baby Licketysplit and Whizzer for Christmas a few years ago.
Now I have a buddy for the drive and someone to reign me in from spending my entire savings account lol :lol: Also she can carry stuff :biggrin:
